Is that okay to use for all dribbling? I am not good at the second kind dribbling so I was wondering if the first kind was okay to use for the whole season.

I don't know if I should spend the money it takes to get a starter pack and try to learn or just try to join a team even though I have no idea how to play. Do you have any advice?

This year I'm playing in a team made up with at least four newbies. My advice? Give it a shot. A starter pack is just three things really. Stick, shin-pads, mouth guard. It's not too expensive if you don't go for the high quality stuff (which is overrated). Google a few things, and give it a shot because you can always quit and sell your (cheap) gear. What have you got to lose? Plus it's a great game and the basics are not complicated at all.
+Elizabeth Hadden do it, i started playing because we played floor hockey in gym. it's similar, but field hockey is harder in my opinion. you'll learn though, it's a lot of fun.
Not with your body! You can with your stick only, as long as you dont obstruct any oppositions stick in the process. If you get your body in the way its an obstruction.
Stu b You actually can.. if you go in the opposite direction, and not walk into them, you technically can. I’m a runner and usually use my speed and body to block em out, but the problem is i move into them. What Ive been told is, if I turn and shield with my body but move AWAY from them, its not counted as an obstruction

2:20 Obstruction rule can be quite tricky.
You actually can block them from the ball legally, it just depends on how you do it

I use to play hockey from Gr.R to Gr.3 then I stopped. 5 years later wanna play if again but I have NO clue on where and how to start
