I have a similar issue with brassicas (and similar climate zone, Eastern Europe, though never filmed it), at first they might grow big but then when the heat comes they get jaded by insects and just take up space. The trick is to plant seedlings earlier, but not worth it for me.

It is so hard to find the perfect time to plant here because we essentially skip spring every year. We seem to go straight from sub zero to sweltering heat in a matter of weeks. One of these days we will figure out the perfect formula!!

@@oldruggedcrossfarm Yeah, somewhat the same here, 1-1.5 months of Spring and then the heat, other areas/climates are far better suited to grow brassicas, so if you fail again - imho it's not your fault. If you have intense heat and enough space - I'd plant (more) watermelons, they love heat (and space) and they're so nice to eat in the Summer! One of the most prized veggies imho.

@georgecarlin2656 I am definitely going to get some more seeds in the ground. I have had luck with later crops of cucumbers and squash in the past. I *might* be able to get some more candy roasters and honeynut squash. Either way it's worth it to me to sacrifice the seeds to try!
