Rebecca, Get some 3lb coffee cans and cut BOTH ends off. Set the coffee can over the celery. The stalks needs about 4 weeks of no sun. This will give the celery a milder taste. It works very well.😊
The chickens are just fine being raised the way they are. I’ve been raised in the city and I know that. If they weren’t happy they wouldn’t be laying eggs like they are and they would be losing feathers and egg shells wouldn’t be as pretty as they are. If you only have criticism comments go elsewhere. Justin and Rebecca are doing what works for them. I have learned so much from them and their TH-cam community. They are human after all.
Amen Regina Gibson! I have enjoyed every single video Justin Rhodes ever made and I think it’s because I really respect him as a farmer, entrepreneur, creator, and human. What I don’t enjoy is the recent onslaught of negative comments. I will continue to be a loyal subscriber and watch every video but I am choosing to quit reading the comments. ✌🏼
Be nice if everyone got off Rebekahs back and allow her to enjoy her choices for her home which she earned with her family. Great job Rhodes family on all your achievements! BEAUTIFUL HOMESTEAD! ENJOY THE FRUITS OF YOUR LABOR!
This has been such an excellent recap. I hope all those who don't understand the jobs beck does can refer to this. She is amazing, her children are lucky
I love how you’re saying it has taken you 19 years. Each year I get what my budget allows on starting seeds. Whenever that gets all used up, I get the solo cups. Do I love it? Not really. But it is what I can do and I’d rather grow more of my food and start it in a solo cup than to not grow it at all. And guess what?! I’m almost where I don’t have to do the solo cups anymore. I’m just content with what I can do and each year I’ll keep adding more. My trellis system works the same way. With a large family, I need a lot, but I add a little at a time. And by the end, it will be my happy place and look great!
thanks for retelling the story about how affordable that land was back in the 30's. i can use this as a good example to show people how land is so expensive and wage growth has not kept up with it. i assume 1k a year back in the 30's was pretty low income and someone making minimum wage today has no chance of buying a $500k property
Your whole family has worked together and now you will reapwhat you have sown. GOOD FOR YOU GUYS. KUDOS TO ALL OF YOU. YOU HAVE WORKED SO HARD..... IM PROUD OF ALL OF YOU.
Rebecca has such an amazing glow and energy about her when she’s in her green house! Attitudes are contagious and she has one that inspires!!! I love how your homestead is evolving from past generations into a new modern homestead that’s perfect for you and your family. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so totally enjoying this video and I love that. It comes out on Sunday afternoon when I could just sit back make a cuppa tea and really enjoy your tour. Rebecca is so adorable and enthusiastic. It made me really happy to be a fly on the wall.
When she said that I was confused but your comment made me realize why. I am in the city and have a small patio garden and a hydroponic tower garden. The celery in it is the best I have ever eaten though it is robust. I just use a few young stalks in my broth and it is fabulous. Now I know why! Thank you for this tip!
I’m glad to see Rebecca feeling so much better. I know how exhausting breastfeeding can be, even without the thyroid issues after weening. Heal in that garden girl!
I have been watching you all since you started your farm tour. How exciting to see all of the abundance that you have worked so hard to achieve. Good times and bad, tough stuff and celebrations...the real treasure is your family and how you all work so hard together!
Hi Beautiful Rhodes Family 🖐🏻. Thanks for sharing your beautiful farm with us 👍🏻👍🏻. Love and Appreciate what y'all are doing. Stay safe. Love and Prayers For All ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Seeing the progress and the processes of this homestead is very inspiring. Thru illness, accidents and success, this family homestead seems a good marker of what is possible
I love the woo woo sticks! I used them last year and will add many more this year. Why not? Plus I think it looks cool. Plus I am the MOST not hippy guy and I love to tell people “look how hippy I am!”
Wonderful video! It's so great to see the many ways your farm has grown and is now flourishing. Seeing all the hard work realizing the dream come true is so tremendous.
You and Rebecca, have done a phenomenal job at creating a beautiful legacy for your children's future! We simply adore the whole family, thanks for letting us all be a part!
🤗 Rebecca's hair is same color as my daughter & my granddaughter, I can only describe as spun gold 🥇☺️looks so beautiful, shiny & healthy. ( Just wanted to say that , ) Love your show & family, great energy 💕🤗
I agree with that Greenhills since that design was originally built for much colder climates Jeff we need one that is designed for your particular area
Looking good guys!!!! Can’t wait to see the finished house. You couldn’t have picked better colors/styles. Rebecca is a freaking rock star she does it all. You rock too Justin. 😂. The pretty Shaw matching the house is so cute!!! One of my favorite couples. ❤❤ Love y’all❣️❣️
I love watching your videos. Your Stance, music, and majestic view is so peaceful ! It's just art. You're amazing with the woodwork and finish. Beautiful!!
How are you able to do a remodel and have a garden? Correct answer is with the help of my lovely hired farm hand. Just saying, from what I have seen she has been a HUGE help. Pepper seeds need for the soil to be a specific temperature. Heat mats help. All of my sweet pepper types sprouted within a week of sitting on top of a heat mat. Those pepper seeds should eventually sprout. Slow process without heat mat. Good Luck and Happy Gardening. Also, Thank you Rebecca for the honesty of telling people to find what works for them. It is good to take in the info people/influencers tell you as inspiration and feedback on products you might be able to afford, but again, everyone must find what works for them.
that was an awesome video ,thank you Rebekha and Justin , learned so much from you , and no , you may not be for everyone , no one can possibly be , but so what , you guys are certainly more than ok , with so many of us who appreciate you and all your teachings and sharing and people who have a problem with you and / or your channel content , can easily move on to something else , thank you for all the great infos
❤Thank you Rebecca (spelling?) for reminding people that they don’t have to start where your family is at. Solo cups are fine if that’s what you have, etc. Just because your family is using something this year and maybe next, doesn’t mean it’s the only way! Start where you are! More Rebecca, please! Love your excitement for growing things!❤ FYI, I’m using silicone starter pod trays but would love to try soil blocks some day. There’s no order or rule of what you must sprout in. Have fun with it! 🌱
I save the tube of toilet paper. I cut in half, fil with potting soil, place on a tray. Add seeds and water. I leave them on the tray until ready to transplant. I plant them in the tube right in the ground. The tube disappears and I have a beautiful garden.
Florets flowers are gorgeous. I'm so jealous she sent you some!!!!! Imalso a crazy plant lady with my first year with a greenhouse. I have hundreds (ok maybe thousands) of plants started too. And..... I grew a boat (my husband uses it for storage 😂)
I keep cats off the veg beds when the plants are small by putting sticks and small branches down on the soil. I find the cats will go look for more open soil.
Buying plants is a nice way to be able to ease the chaos of spring. What I like about starting seeds is that I can find a variety that I like and works well in my area, plants that you buy are what the vendor thinks they can sell.
Thank you for saying that about homeschool! It’s not a onesize fits all. It’s so different with each kiddo as they all have different learning styles. My therapist recently told me to take peoples advice and put it through a filter or a lens of what works in your life.
G’day Justin & Rhodes family ;-) RUN 2 CHOOKS IN THE BEE RUN THEY WILL MOW AND EAT THE BUGS DRAWN TO THE HIVES and eat the diseased dead and dying bees evicted from the hives. Grass clippings in the garden are great! It really holds the moisture and everything grows like crazy from all the nitrogen. Throw a scoop of compost in and it produces like nuts
To keep cats off the raised beds lay twiggy branches on the surface so they're about 10 inches deep or stick shorter twiggy pieces in the ground between the plants, as if you were going to use them to support a plant. Close enough together that a cat cannot easily wend it's way through. You could try Lovage instead of celery - it's a perennial herb and you only need a small piece to get the flavour into a dish when cooking.
i understand Justin's thing about Bubbies , here in Canada we have a compony called Strub's and their stuff is totally amazing i would never be able to quit them lol hugssssss
Thank you Justin for this video. It helps motivate us to do our own homestead/gardening goals. I learned a lot, sadly my property I wan to do this with is a couple hours away and I don't get down to it enough.
Place plastic forks in your garden beds by poking the handle into the ground and leaving the prongs facing up. This will prevent the cats from scratching in it and using it for a litter box or a bed.
Freeze dry shredded zucchini and use as a thickener in any cream sauce. and shredded cucumbers are the best on a salad in the middle of winter. I so love the fresh flavor!I don’t know if you have a freeze dryer but any piece of fruit is delicious.

I LOVED Rebekahs tour of the green house and garden. Her face was so lit up!

Great job Rhodes family on all your achievements!

I don't understand why people can't seem to just be kind .. DNA flaw maybe 🤔
@@LB-gr7gu This is why I stopped watching. Checked in again on this video, yup, still a jerk.

Yeah, she is one heck of a woman. Both of them are amazing parents.
@@Thylacine1 Amen! 💞 We are all blessed. ❤
Watching Rebecca rejoice in her plants lifted my heart. I feel the joy she does every time I plant a new plant and watch it grow.
Rebecca has so much common sense knowledge! Love it
An hour of Rhodes family? Yes please! Great video as always, thanks so much for sharing with all of us!
We need Rebecca more often! I love her!
🌻🌻🌻🌻Rebecca, I have enjoyed your sunflowers🌻🌻🌻🌻please tell Justin to show us the gardens when the SUNFLOWERS ARE BLOOMING!!! 🌻🌻🙏🌻

You have made an incredible amount of progress since I started watching back when covid started.
Oh my goodness!
This was an Amazing video!

More water and shade will make celery taste better. You can put a recycled container around the base to shade the growing stalks to keep them tender)
Thank you!
