    Hey from Palm Harbor! I don't know what you guys are putting in this Flagship, but man... it is a miracle cure! You mentioned that Flagship gives SA a special kind of deep blue/green color and wow were you right. Everyone's lawns in my neighborhood look good... and why not, they're paying hundreds of dollars for professional lawn care, but there is some kind special feeling when you have the BEST looking lawn in the neighborhood and you did it yourself! Try this Flagship... you won't be disappointed!

    Most Lawn issues can be remedied by increasing the length of the blades. St Augustine calls for a 3" cut. It will keep the roots shaded, the weeds out, and the moisture in.

  • @ibfreeekout
    @ibfreeekout ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Such a great improvement in a short span of time. I'm dealing with a rehab of my front yard. It was primarily St Augustine when we moved in but some Bermuda had already taken hold before we got here. With life and everything going on, just kinda neglected it unfortunately and now it's maybe a 60% Bermuda yard, 20% St Augustine, and the rest is weeds. Thinking at this point the best course of action for us is to resod and then get onto a proper lawn care regimen (finished the Yard Care Bootcamp trainings a couple weeks ago - great stuff!).

      How is it going now?

    • @ibfreeekout
      @ibfreeekout ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trg808 Well we haven't done a resod and I'm honestly debating if I'm going to bother. As we're getting more into peak growing season, the St Augustine up front is starting to crowd out the weeds that were getting in the way. I've done a couple applications of Image for Southern Lawns (including the one for crabgrass) and that's helped knock some out too. The Bermuda that we have is loving life too, I think I'm just learning to live with it.

    Allyn, this is the first time I recall you mentioning the pyrethroid-resistant chinch bug issue with this project lawn. This has been a huge issue for my lawn on East Coast of FL. I've found that Arena is the best at treating these St Aug lawn killers, but regardless they've come back every year in the heart of the summer heat. They seem to reach a peak in August, and love the extra heat near my sidewalks. All of a sudden, your like what the heck happened here! I've found that most of the store bought cinch bug products are ineffective, and it seems this project lawn of yours has seen much of what my lawn has seen but even worse. Take it from me, they'll be back, so get a preventative strategy in place that includes Arena, or if you find something else let me know!! This year I'm trying: May 1st-GrubX, May 30-Sunniland Fert w/insecticide (Bifenthrin) before black out, July 1st-Arena. Let's see, if I can keep these buggers from eating my beautiful St Aug.

    LCN- Love the St. Aug project results. I wish you’d visit me just north of you. My front yard is St. Aug that is deep green and reaching for the sky (2x week mowing), but my backyard has St. Aug that isn’t thriving… bent over…just not PROUD St. Aug. I’ve got acidic soil from LCN soil tests and hitting it with lime…but just doesn’t seem to suck up the fert and we’ve heading for the big fert ban… Nice job on the St. Aug lawn!!!!

    I'm over on the east coast of FL but I've been battling what I believe is TARR for the last couple of months. I've been mowing and watering consistently, applied 2 curative apps of the bulletproof strategy, and putting down standard rates of fertilizer, biostims, potassium. I think the damage has stopped spreading but recovery hasn't kicked in yet. Soil test shockingly returned a high PH of 8 (6.85->8 in 2.5 years??), so now I ordered mag-i-cal. hoping that kicks things back in shape and my St Augustine starts thriving again.

    Rain is slightly acidic, right? Also doesn’t leave all kind of calcified salts behind that stick to everything including covering the roots. Rain flushes all that trash out. But its “texture” or “structure” is definitely different and I’ve always noticed that as well. I’ve always wanted to know what it is

I tried to revive it as best as I could with whatever fertilizer I found at Home Depot and and it have gotten better. But also got a lot of weeds and wild Bermuda. How should you water new St. Augustine sod? I think I overwatered mine. And it’s turning yellow and it hasn’t grown much. I’m not sure (so I’m watering less) I added a 24-0-6 nitrogen fertilizer 2 weeks ago and it seems to be turning greener but not growing. I have not cut it since we got the sod bc it’s still very short. But after watching this video i will cut. I will also fertilizer every month.
    Maybe I should add the stress blend?
    I stay at home so I baby my lawn lol

    @ 5:00 the rain. It is magical. I believe part of why rain is better for the grass than irrigation simply is that it has a lower pH. At about 5.5 or so it's lower than my well water which is around 7. SA grass loves water. I recently tested my soil pH with my well watered lawn and it is in the mid 7's. I'm starting an aggressive pH lowering regimen with elemental sulfur, citric acid, molasses, and ammonium sulphate. I usually use Yard Mastery products currently but am going to use Ammonium for my last fert until Nitrogen restrictions start in 30 days here in west central Florida. I believe these applications (for life) will offset the higher well water pH.

    i was so bummed I had put down scotts disease ex as my st augustine had some types of fungus diseases, after 2 weeks I did a second application, a week after that, it was like a weird line was cut halfway down my yard and it was all brown and chewed up looking, I couldnt understand if the fungus treatment burnt the grass like a fertilizer despite following settings and it being a granule. Anyway, I was ready to throw in the towel for a beautiful backyard for the season, but like magic, a few rainstorms and it bounces back like no tomorrow. It's still not where I want it, but I have limited time beyond the basic cut/weed/trim, sometimes I bust the sprinklers out for a early watering, but I have a paranoia about my water system as I turn the bypass from our water softener system on 100%, but still feel like salt might be getting into the water sprinklers somehow? Is that crazy? Anyway, my first rant on lawns in youtube, take care guys. -NE FL.

      I have the same issue but not major weeds just small broadleaf ones. I used granular preemergent and still got some. So I’m gonna buy the liquid prodiamine product from yard mastery.

    For your fertilizer apps, did you apply 1k of N every time?

    • @TheLawnCareNut

      I followed the bag rate so for the one app of Stress I got .21lbs/N and for the 3 Flagship apps I got .75lb/N for each.
