    What a smart move by Sony. The most important piece that everyone should clean every once in a while is basically shielded by all of the other PS4 components. The fan should be the most accessible imo, I hope they put that in mind in the next ps given the fact that there's atleast 7 years gap between each gen (most ppl's warranties are expired anyway).

      LazAffects I like how easy she pulled the ps4 fan connector out. this ps4 was deff. taken apart before she did it because I broke my connector trying to get it off for 5 min. now I'm deciding Wether or not to solder each wire to the 3 parts

    • @redstonespuuunge6695
      @redstonespuuunge6695 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I broke mine too,
      as long as the inside plastic piece separating the wire ends is still intact you'll be okay.
      just get a pair of tweezers and carefully put them back in.
      The problem was that you were supposed to pull up on the connector instead of pulling sideways, It's a unconventional connector and it's misleading.
      no need to solder it.

      Same story trying to remove,the Right cover off the ps4, after removing the harddrive and two security screws.. Shes like,Remove the front than push it backwards..And was able to remove it without effort.. I was here tryna do the same,And This bitch is stuck on and didnt want to come off..She also doesnt mention that the Metal plate,Beneath the MotherBoard,has 3 little Screws in the center that you have to remove,before taking it off and getting to the fan.

    Would it kill Sony/Microsoft to develop a console that lets me clean it out without voiding my warranty? because at this point i feel like its a loss/loss for the consumer, you either void your warranty to clean it out or let it burn out due to all the dust building up.

      Its the same issue with laptop computers you cant truly access and properly clean the dirt plug built up between the fan and the heat sink without disassembly , blowing air backwards through the heat sink fins just blows the dust ball back into the fans vanes (as soon as the fan runs it blows the plug of lint and dust and fine hairs back into place) preventing its true extraction they should have designed a snap open door in the duct between the fan and the heat sink for cleaning access.

    Such a poor design, forcing you to take the entire machine apart to replace a fan that will fail one day! It means you fiddling for ages trying not to break anything, or paying more for someone else to repair it.
    Take that easy to remove bottom plate off and full access should then be given to the fan.

    • @BKofficer23
      @BKofficer23 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Poor design for the consumer, sure, but I'm sure this was specifically designed to be this way. They don't want people to be easily able to fix this. I couldn't believe that the fan is literally the hardest thing to access on this thing.

    • @arturo3564

    Hope this helps. once top is removed you can see intake for the fan impeller- you can use canned air and straw to blow out dust from fan blades. Since all that dust will go into power supply, I would recommend taking it off first. You might be able to see back into duct from power supply end to see main heatsink fins, and whether or not they are dusty, and blow from fan or power supply end until clean.

The fan in my PS4 didn't need to be replaced but it was working very hard all the time because the heat sink cooling fins were clogged with dust. Mabirc Min An insane amount of engineering went into building this system, keeping the components cool, ect. You seriously think they built it a specific way just so people couldn't replace a fan? Do you know what percent of their consumers would ever even think to do something like this? There's no way that they demanded their engineering team purposely create a difficult fan replacement scenario because 0.2% of the future owners would ever want to try replacing it.

    YLOD could be avoided in the PS3 by simply changing the thermal paste. Sony uses poor quality paste. Unfortunately PS4 uses the same low quality paste which is why your system sounds like a jet engine. it's because the paste is already drying up so the fan kicks faster to compensate for the heat that isnt being transferred to the heat sink. When I bought my PS4, before plugging it in for the first time, day 1.i took it apart and cleaned off the junk thermal paste and applied top quality paste. my fan then never went past stage 2. I've changed tbe thetmal paste in 15 PS4s and 9 PS3s all with the same great results. you dont need to replace the fan, theres nothing wrong with the fan. the issue is the stock thernal paste.

  • @Zack1882

    Thank you! my ps4 was running very loud. It would give me an error message sometimes while I was playing a game to turn off the ps4 and let it cool down. I replaced the fan and cleared the dust out, especially near the heat sink which had a thick black layer of dust covering half of it. PS4 is running practically silent even while the game is running and no error messages. *Note I did damage the plug on the old fan where it connects to the mother board, I pulled the three wires straight out of the connector... It connects from the top down and does not "slide in" like the other cable connections (do not pull on the wires but lift them up away from the motherboard)

    ok great attempt or rough guide however you want to say it, i had a launch version of the ps4 and there were like 5 extra little steps i had to do which she did not show and some parts you could tell it was done before hand then shot for video which i understand but is frustrating when you skip a tiny step and im sitting here trying to get the bottom metal casing off and she forgets to mention 3 little screws. so use this video as a rough guide but take caution when working through a step

    Step 64: Source your own cellulose
    step 65: use CAD software to model the desired fan shape
    step 66: create your own small scale plastic manufacturing plant
    step 67: fabricate mould and place molten plastic pellets in mould
    step 68: pray to the Gods
