This was an excellent lesson. You are very good at explaining and demonstrating so that we can understand. Plus putting it in context with different examples makes it easy to follow. Thank you.
Within the plethora of guitar-related videos on TH-cam there are diamonds to be found amongst the rocks. You videos fall into the diamond category. Another great post. Thanks.
Your lessons are very simply explained and u are knowledgeable in this discipline. I am happy for such lessons to assist me and guide me without guessing. Keep up the good work and remain humble
Another great lesson. You have a remarkable sense of knowing what intermediate students need and are able to condense a lot of information into a lesson that makes sense and is instantly useable. I’ve really learned a lot from you!!
These are excellent tutorials just like the rest that you’ve posted on you channel. I’m learning a lot & I’m sure many of your followers are learning to.
Thanks Jules, great lesson. I downloaded the tabs and backing tracks for free (just to check them out) but the next load I'll definitely pay for. Thanks
Wow Jules I so underestimated how powerful this diagonal pentatonic is for MANY MANY reasons. Some are subtle. But what pops out is it’s better to be stuck in this pattern than a vertical silo pentatonic box. So it’s better to practice and quickly initiate playing (see) this (backbone) and learn how to periodically breakout of it (or jump off) into the side to side classic boxes (silos) than vice versa yet so many learn and do the exact opposite…DERP. This is how you break out being stuck in the pentatonic boxes. It’s simple, you just don’t get stuck in them in the first place. LOL. Thanks buddy!
Jules, I know a "fair" amount of music theory (or at least I thought I did 😉), but you just put a whole bunch of topics into context for me! After watching this short video, now I can easily and quickly go from ANY Major key to it's relative minor (& vice versa), I can figure out the pentatonic notes in any key (including their pattern and their note names), and all kinds of things that I haven't even realized yet! Wow. All that, plus being able to come up with an amazing solo or riff in any key. Thanks, dude! 👍 👌 Wow again.
Another great video! Such a nice lessons you have, very practical. Can you share about your gear and your settings? how you get that beautiful guitar tone? I am currently using a simple usb adapter that connects my guitar to the mac with a GarageBand app. I have very primitive settings cause I dont even know who to improve it. Can't get such a warm sound that you have. Its kinda flat...
Hi Jules, I am Thai and am living in Bangkok. I'd like to know if you do private lessons? I would definitely be interested. It's quite hard to find a guitar teacher who is fluent in English. Thanks! Have a good one
Do you have any Patreon Jules? I would love to subscribe to it. You are an incredible teacher and I really appreciate all your videos it is really an eye opener for us who are beginners. thanks
There's a simple step missing from your lesson (that I discovered thanks to you), which would actually let you play every pentatonic note on the whole arm of the guitar, not only the diagonal sequence that you get with this pattern. And it's basically the same pattern, but rotated 180°, which also happens to align perfectly with the highest and lowest pattern that you showed (the "main pentatonic box"). For A minor scale, this pattern would be 8 10 12 on the low E string and 10 12 on the A string (which aligns vertically with the pattern you showed for the B and e strings). Or 1 3 5 on the B string and 3 5 on the e string, which also aligns vertically with the pattern you showed for the bass strings (E and A).
Thanks
Brilliant thank you
