Dimsum-ing in Hong Kong is a MUST! I made this video fairly short and sweet so if you're interested in a more in-depth guide on how to "survive & navigate" these dimsum dining halls/ teahouse, let me know in the comments! =)
I've notice you dip in chilli oil, do you prefer chilli oil or chilli paste?
Stop fronting, u go everywhere the same dimsum. Siao mai, xiaolong bao, chicken feet.....😂
@hongkongfoodtours Virginia, we are right now in HK, 3 days already, i cant say thanks enough times, we are following your recomendations and the experience have been amazing so far. We've been to Máxims, Joey Hing roasted meats... Tomorrow we Will come here. Really really thanks!!
Wow Virginia, just saw you on Mark Wiens' channel in Hong Kong and was impressed. You were a great host and have excellent screen presence. Will follow your channel to see what you're up to.
Hong Kong’s old-fashioned trolley dim sum is definitely an experience you’ll never forget!
Haha Yes! That is for sure! =)
Everybody who's been there knows what you mean. For the uninitiated, it's definitely an experience. That's where the fun begins.
I came here from your colab video with Mark Weins! Loved your energy, and had to subsribe! cheers!
Glad to see you’re uploading. And it was nice seeing you in another Sonny Video. Wish he had you eating with him the entire time. But hope all is well.
More to come! There should be one more video with Sonny =)
love this type of videos!! please make moreee
Thanks for the quality content and energy you put in it!
Glad you enjoy it! =)
Thank goodness for this video. When I heard the famous Lin Heung Tea House closed I was so devastated because I wanted to go so badly. Now I have hope again. Would love to try both.
Miss the Hong Kong of the 90s.
Hey Virginia.
I’m not sure why I’ve taken so long to subscribe to your channel, but I’ve made it. You’re without a doubt my favourite co-host on Mark and Sonny’s channels, so I had to come and check yours out.
Looking forward to getting a look at some of your back catalogue, as I’m sure it will be fun.
Keep up the great work and keep being super great at your job.
Thank you.
A fan from Tasmania, Australia
Amazing, i miss the trolley servoce style chinese restaurants.
Yes there aren’t that many more left in Hong Kong now.
"mmmMMM" followed by head nod...V's stamp of approval! 😊 Looking for free tables at dim sum was always part of my childhood nostalgia...thanks for reminding me!! ❤
HHah I guess I do do that. Yes looking for the tables makes me feel like an animal stalking prey 🤣😂🤣 Glad it brought out some childhood memories =)
Tempting dim sum. Thank you enjoyed the video.
Greetings from Canada🍁Finally see a upload from you. I subscribed because Sonny said too. Glad I did as this is very enjoyable and educational. Looking forward to more.
Awesome! Thank you! 🫡
Great colab with Mark Weins, I haven’t been to HK in a long time, I have to go back soon! Dim sum is life!! 😍
I don't think I will ever be able to go back to HK, so I always look forward to your videos.
Glad you like them & hope this gives you a peek into what's going on in Hong Kong at the moment =)
Virginia always brings her A game when showing us new videos in Hong Kong food and culture. I can't wait to see the next video.
Awww you’re much too kind =) stay tuned, there are some mega videos to celebrate us turning 20k!
Wow this was great-will be looking to book tours with you when in Hong Kong later this year!!!
Sounds good! Can't wait =)
Virginia, thank you for the update on these traditional Hong Kong style dim sum. I saw posts on Facebook saying Lin Heung has reopened. Thanks again.
Thanks for sharing! Thought it was a bit confusing so wanted to make a video to help with it =)
Great video. I thought Lin Heung had closed so thanks for the little history lesson. I would love to visit one of these places but I would have to do it on one of your tours. I don't think I'd fare very well going by myself 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! The names of the restaurants are confusing, and then the history of the opening and closing of the restaurant exacerbated the confusion, so wanted to set things straight =)
oh very yummy!
Awesome food amazing chef
Awesome only if u first day . All dim sum is functionally the same.
So delicious 😋
Keep it up
I should try it one day!! Tasty dimsum. I saw you with mark weins and search for your channel. Watching all the way from Marudi Sarawak
Can you show some of the more obscure Dim Sum dishes such as the Gai Jat, Quail Egg Siu Mai, and the Gee Mah Guon. All the ones that are going extinct, etc.
I love the chaos of these places.
Hi Virginia. This video is great. Any chance of getting a Hong Kong coconut tart video sometime in the future :o)
I will try! it may be with a bakery episode - it's on the list, but I'm just not very fast LOL
@@hongkongfoodtours Ok great. BTW how is the tourist industry these days since the COVID crisis? Has it recovered 25%/50%/75% etc this year?
I love Dim Sum. I live in Sydney and I think the Dim Sum here is as good, if not better than in Hong Kong!
Eu passei a conhecer pelo Mark Wiens, gostei muito
I go, not for the food, but for the atmosphere. Pls do a level three vlog!
Today I subscribed to your channel I saw you with Mike hen first but forgot to subscribe, ow after your session in HK Mark it reminded me to subscribe.good luck dear🥂
None of the cart ladies were calling out 蝦餃,燒賣,义燒飽,鮮蝦粉果like in the old days.
Omg I'm sooo hungry watching this. It's 10.40pm here in the U.K
Thunk awesome history
- I wish I could get a pin 📌! I subscribed. We love you Virginia 😍 ❤️
You've done your homework...靓妹, 你好嘢! 😂
Virginia: Welcome back! I’d like to see you do on location deep dives into the dim sum lunch culture in Chinatowns all over the world like the Vancouver/Richmond Chinatowns, the San Francisco Chinatown, the Sydney, Australia Chinatown, and there’s one in Mumbai, India. ❤Diane, Vancouver, Canada. FrAL19/24. 06:51 pm
Thanks so much! yes, I may do another episode on Trolley Dimsum and basically how to navigate through the experience. Vancouver also sounds like a good spot to try as I have some Vancouver travel coming up this year =) Thanks for the suggestion!
Yummy video .
Can someone please explain the ordering process.
I saw you got up with a paper and went to the cart.
Is one supposed to order at the cart ? Or the carts are samples and the real dishes come in later. ❤
I love dim sum ❤️
I know! It's so good right?!?!
@@hongkongfoodtours Oh yeah!! Looking forward to your next food experiences 😊
I love old school yum cha. It does not look new same thing but it is a mad house there. In NY usually we wait for the trolly hit each table not like people running to the cart to get the dim sum. Lately I saw many people break the NY rule and go to the cart. Never ever you will see people do that. Most of those people that run to the carts are mainlanders. But after those jerks do that they took all the dim sums so I had to break the rules of waiting for the cart and just freaking do what they do. If I want my food quick and get out that is what I have to do.
concepts like civility and courtesy are usually lost on mainlanders =)
Maybe planning a 2025 Hong Kong trip. 2024 is for Honolulu Hawaii. But will definitely reach out; hopefully you are still doing tours .
A shame I can never visit Hong Kong - I hear it used to be a cool place.
❤️🇧🇩
Hi, which has more choices/variety?
aunties and uncles fighting each time something comes out lol, easy to get the hargow, etc?
In Hong Kong just now
Nice video I just came back from Hong Kong a few weeks ago.
I met Sonny in the Disneyland 🐭 🇭🇰
Didn't realize you met Sonny and Mark Wiens in HK.
👍👍👍
SURPRISED PIKACHU FACE
Dimsum included
Siew mai
Har gau
Duck feet...... 😂😂😂😂 Like every other dimsum placr😢
Is it still open?
6:20 The least appetizing char siu bao (one of the three/four most basic dim sum) I have seen in my entire life. The benchmark should be darker. Cheers from Kuala Lumpur. 😂😂
Where is Sony😂
“鮮蝦粉果”
Ah, maybe that’s what they said - it was too loud and the Dimsum was leaving too fast 😂
Cadê os brasileiros 🇧🇷??
Chinese dish washing technology is out of this world.😂🤣😁🤪
You have such beautiful face and mind
Who is here from marks video? ✋️
I love this girl she's such a babe
Am I going mad? Did you drink the used washed tea?!?
Trolley is not old school. Old schools used hanging trays. 😮
六安居的企堂,只服务相熟的茶客,把其他新客推拒不許入座。这就是2月前的經歷,我們要付帳的,不是來受氣的 !
just throw the spoons on your table. Sigh...
Explain the washing dishes again please. Why do you use tea to wash them. Why do you use dirty dishes. Dont they wash dishes.
It's a traditional thing. Maybe started since SARS 2003 ?
The dishes are washed quite quickly so we do a second rinse at the table - hot water kills everything (they hope)and rinses any dust and debris off!
There's no difference, u go everywhere is the same.
The tea is the decider. In these places is all the same. old school, mass productions, quality so so. Unless you go to the high end for the quality, aesthetic and most important is the new creations and a large varieties.
I went there this week, the worst dimsum ever. Would never recommend to anyone
Your chopstick skills are lacking. Not hard to improve.
