Hey Virginia, love your vids but can you comment on what is really going on with the social current events in Hong Kong? The protests that ravages HK since middle of 2019 are still they prevalent like that currently? How do most feel about how the US is dealing with its own Social Issues? HK protests been going on for a nearly a year; but the US riots/protest rallies it will go on for a maybe 3-7 days then it stops because the major concern for some is just about the ability to do whatever ones without repercussions. i.e vandalizing and looting as a mob will not get you put into jail bc the police just cant arrest them all. Thanks
@@jamellee8890 Yes, this is a valid point, except I don't think it should be in this video. It can't or shouldn't just be intercepted in a video such as this, as it really should be in its own video as it's a very big topic to discuss and deserves to be the main point of the video. The concern I have is that my editing skills are subpar and I'm not the succinct person with all my waffling so I need to think carefully how I should approach this topic and how it should be in video form. Hope that clarifies.
My mom legit made these dishes for me all throughout my childhood and now that I emigrated to Germany I make these whenever I find the ingredients! YAY home-style cooking!
Can you make more videos of what traditional Hong Kong grandma would cook at home for breakfast, lunch and dinner for a week. I am trying to learn to cook traditional Hong Kong healthy family meals.
Hi Virginia, I've joined this channel whilst watching Sonny's vlog. I think it's great advertisement for you, continue your hard work. Thumb's up - from the U.K.
This was a treat for me , it's my birthday today and in normal times i would be outside sitting by a nice fire having a cold beer, but here in nova scotia we have a fire ban , so i get to enjoy your video and have a cold beer lol it's 1:10 am here, keep the videos comming , i so enjoy them.
Hi Virginia, Thank you for another fun video! I prefer the taste of McD coffee over Starbucks. Stay safe from COVID and the demonstrations! Love from Washington, DC!
Haven't had any rice for a while now so thanks cooked a rice dish with tomato and vegetables with homemade sweet and sour sauce. I am not the greatest cook but it came out alright so thank you for the inspiration 😊😘🇬🇧
Do you guys prefer cooking at home or buying food throughout a normal work week? Since it saves time and convenient, people are just lazy wanna save time to rest and sleep, then cook on the weekends... Plus prices... Also do you guys normally eat chinese/hk food or might try something foreign to the pallate once in a while? Is packing lunch a habit or popular in the work place? Just curious... Thanks
Depends. If you have a family, you’ll most likely have full time help so you’ll eat dinner at home but if not you’ll probably eat out. Eating out is quite common and we don’t tend to brown bag for lunch.
The wealth discrepancy is huge. Local food is cheaper so if you’re on the lower end, you’ll have fast food or local food often. If you’re average above living, then there is a lot of choice, people usually pick the cuisine they want and then figure out the restaurant. They don’t eat Cantonese food everyday - they like a ton of variety and to try new restaurants.
Doesn’t make any sense to me how HK has the longest life expectancy when most residents eat the way you described in the video. Only thing I can think of is either (A) Hong Kong won’t lead the world in life expectancy long, or (B) the healthcare provided is phenomenal. I guess HK could also just have a lot of old people who are still alive because they eat a traditional diet and that’s what’s keeping HK statistics up…
Hi! It also has to be pointed out that life expectancy stats take into account infant mortality. For most countries this single demographic drags down the national average regardless of how old their adult population tends to live. HK being a developed economy as well as being a place with an extreme premium on space dictates how many children families can have and this tends to be very low, even relative to other developed countries. Coupled with good healthcare as well as very focused attention on the often single child, these factors afford Hong Kong this statistic.
The food that gets served in there is indeed interesting. Till now, I feel like I shouldn't pay someone to cook my own instant noodles LOL Yes, lot less HK cafes in Vancouver, last time I was there, there were soooo many seafood boils!
Humid with a Chance of Fishballs Tours when things settle down and I start planning my trip to japan I hope to come to HK and get a tour with you. I haven’t been to HK in decades! And it seems that Cantonese food is slowly dying here in BC. All the wonton restaurants are slowly fading. Being replaced with hotpots and BBQ. Mikey Chen was saying he’s so worried about HK. I hope things somehow get better. My company is in HK.
Did you grew up in HK or are you an expat? Just wondering, because you’re English is very good. Would you say your English is better or your Cantonese?

My English is way better - didn’t move to HK until about 9 years ago. My Cantonese was kept bc my parents and grandma only spoke to me in Cantonese.
