Alimony is given because after marriage if you both wish to part ways she needs support to live. If she wants to leave without a reasonable reason and you don't want a divorce you have to pay really less.

We Goans were far ahead of you guys. It is invalid in Goa. Even if a man says triple talaq to his wife it is invalid. He has to go to court for divorce. Criminalising it only will further bring division between husband and wife. THE DECISION HAS TO BE INVALID NOT CRIMINALISATION. wrong decision.
