    Just wanted to say thanks for this video. I don't know why the nodal point has been stressing me out for so long. I usually just had my husband do it for me, or a coworker. I watched your video last night, and I was able to get my nodal point spot on this morning. I didn't even have to adjust it! I just visually looked where the center of the lens was and when I went to view the images in the camera....it lined up perfectly. I did a test stitch before my shoot this morning and absolutely no stitching errors. Thank you!!!!!

    What brand pano head is that sir?

  • @Fluxion11
    @Fluxion11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    4:05 you can use a pano head like that. You just need hardware to adjust your camera so that the entrance pupil is directly over the bottom axis. If someone wants to use a head like this, I can try to explain how. It's a bit more work, but doable and it works great once you get it dialed in.

    will it work for vertical stitching as well?

    Thanks for the great video. I have an issue, the closet I got to the NPP is where when the center is fine, and if I move the camera to the right, it is fine same as the center but when i move it to the left, it is a tad bit off than the center and the right.
    I tried to adjust it, but then the left and center are aligned perfectly and the right side is a tad bit off, I can not seem to find the position where all three angles meet, any help?

    nice one. I have a Sunway head too. How do you find using it on a ball head ?

    • @PipersPlayhouse
      @PipersPlayhouse 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't set the nodal point using just a ball head as the lens would be positioned too far forward.

    I'm going to get into creating spherical / cylindrical images and have heard lots of talk about this but after watching your video...I am actually beginning to understand it better. THANKS! I recently went out to a park to play with this a bit (without the proper tripod head) and saw this problem first-hand. I noticed that the issue isn't just left-right but also up and down. SO now this has me thinking (out loud) about a couple things. Do you have a recommendation regarding what to look for in a tripod and What is a good workflow of setting up for a shot? For example....1) choose location. 2) level the tripod. 3) Mount camera 4) center camera on pano/nodal head. etc? (now that I have typed this...it occurred to me to go look and see if you have other videos) :-)
    Thanks for taking the time to put this video together!

      Hey Scott, for a tripod you want something good and stable. What kind of budget do you have? You've got the workflow about right, don't need to worry about leveling the tripod before mounting the camera though, you'll level it via the bubble level on the nodal head. I don't have any videos on 360 imaging now, but will post some more. I plan on posting a whole course on it to go with a live webinar class I'm putting together. Should come join this group on facebook: facebook.com/groups/virtualtournetwork/ lots to be learned there too.

    Please, would you start writing in the "show more" section, the name/names of the equipment that you talk about in your videos. The video talk is what we want but, put the equipment below also. I liked your video, I learned something. "Thank you", Jim, Charlotte, NC.

    Great video. One question .... How far apart ate the objects?

      1.85m at least. The farther away the better.

    great video!!! Hey I didn't know you also knew about this stuff as well. Question, Were you thinking of lining up the two light stands originally? I noticed the blue tape on one of them??

    • @tycotech
      @tycotech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I'm a photographer by trade, that's my day job and I specialize in 360 tour photography (won't be long till I'm doing TH-cam full time though!). Yeah, I put the tape on the farther light stand to make it easier to see when it was peaking out from the side. Once you get the hang of it, using this technique makes it super easy to find the nodal point using most objects around you. Although once you get it set for your rig, just remember the numbers and you'll never have to do it again. Lol

    You would think the lens manufacturer would know where this point is on their lenses and mark them..???

    What you call a pano head (shown in the still image) is not a pano head, it is a gimbal head. A pano head looks just like what you use ;-)

    Very good video but nodal point is not the right term even if anyone use it.
    You have to align to the entrance pupil center, the nodal point is not exactly the same thing. 😉

    Worthless. Instead of describing it, why don't your try actually SHOWING what's happening in the viewfinder?
