@@TunaonToastwithStryker thank YOU! It’s kind of a blast from the past hearing you on the Burnout games and now watching/listening to the podcast! It’s rad
Blink led me to Ava, Ava led me to Ilan. Watching Ilan play guitar for himself and killing it then jumping onto the drums barefooted to play for Tom , Ilan immediately showed the true talent and I have been a fan ever since.
I first learned of Ilan through NIN. That led me to New Regime, AVA, Lonely Hearts Club Band, and projects from members of all of those other bands. I was never a huge Muse fan, but seeing them do Beatles covers got me listening to their catalog. Suffice to say there will be a "6 degrees of Ilan Rubin"
Saw his and his brother's pop punk band F.O.N. way back and he was a little kid and already shredded. I think freak of nature the group's name was named for his ability.
loved this episode ! Ilan is a ridiculously talented guy ! I was lucky enough to meet him when The New Regime supported Taking Back Sunday in the uk a good few years ago and he was a super nice guy.
Great interview Ted! Ilan has been a huge influence on my playing and it’s great to hear someone ask all the questions you wish other interviewers would ask.
I saw Ilan playing with a local band from PHX when he was 15 or something. It was a crowd of a few thousand at an outdoor festival. He blew everyone away. So crazy how good he is.
What a great interview/podcast. Ian is such a cool guy. And Ted is honestly one of the best interviewer ever. I like your positive energy and enthusiasm
So many great points Ilan made had me praising more than a Sunday church service. I make music my self and I've had people say the exact same thing to me that I should just have one sound which I'll never do. A great interview that shows 2 people that actually love music.
I only first heard of Ilan from AvA but sounds like he's a pure-bred musician through and through. After listening to some of this I bet he contributes to AvA more than most people know.
Oh for sure, the man is a musical genius. Its just a shame he doesn't get the recognition and publicity he deserves. Also, I heard that the majority of Dreamwalker was influenced by Ilan.
Tom makes it pretty clear in most interviews that a lot of what we hear on lifeforms were as a result of Ilan and Aaron. Ilan wrote the bridge for Spellbound, among other.
Love this interview, thanks for sharing. My new album reminds me of what IIan talks about regarding genre, hopefully people can hear a loud/rock sound infused with pop songs while still sounding like the same artist.... Keep up the great work Stryker
Not to discredit Ilan Rubin, Josh Freese or Chris Vrenna's (super talented amazing drummers in their own right) contributions to NIN, but Jerome Dillon was always my favorite NIN drummer. His organic style of playing juxtaposed so greatly with the depressing damaging bleak style Trent was going for at the time (listen to the song Great Below and to the songs on Still that have drums/percussion).
I stopped listening to radio in 2005 because I was sick of hearing ozzy, southern hard rock bands, shit rock bands like three days grace, nickel back, breaking Benjamin, and puddle of mudd.
I'm not sure why people in a privileged position love to shit talk others. Everyone naturally steals from one another it's part of being human. Let's shit talk the assholes of the world and let everything else slide. Talking about music you don't like is not bringing anything but more negativity to the table and it looks bad.
Stryker is currently my favorite podcast host!
HOLY COW THANK YOU!!!!!

When Illan joines a band, in almost 95 percent of the cases, he instantly becomes the most talented musician in the room
100% correct
Except for Trent ofcourse
Ilan is such a cool dude and a criminally underrated drummer
Blink led me to Ava, Ava led me to Ilan. Watching Ilan play guitar for himself and killing it then jumping onto the drums barefooted to play for Tom , Ilan immediately showed the true talent and I have been a fan ever since.
Amen.
I just learned more about Tom’s music from Ilan than I ever have from Tom in 20 years
Why his name isn't on every best rock drummer list is a crime.

Great interview, can't believe you haven't exploded with subs yet. All the best.

Strykers enthusiasm is infectious. Love this pod
Devin, thank you so much!

such a nice guy filled with talent!
I mean he just seems like one of those people you meet and you can instantly say "There's nobody nicer than this guy."
Had the pleasure of chatting with him several times after The New Regime shows. Great interview!
thanks for watching!
Took me a second to realise he was talking about playing with Lostprophets when Trent saw him play before NIN back at Reading 2007.
Love his playing. A great drummer
This is my first time listening to this podcast. Instantly subscribed because of Strykers enthusiasm. Also Ilan is a beast! :)
ohhhh whatttt, i was able to take a photo with him on tour last year wooooo

First time I noticed Ilan was when he was playing with that Whelsh band that shall never be mentioned.
thats' when Trent Reznor saw him too
Ilan is ALL. He’s so RIGHT!! Stryker what an AMAZING INTERVIEW!! I love being a fly on the wall of a great conversation.
I appreciate you watching and thanks for the nice words!
I love how much you love AvA.
What a great interview/podcast. Ian is such a cool guy. And Ted is honestly one of the best interviewer ever. I like your positive energy and enthusiasm
Nathan, thank you for such a nice message! Hope you have a great night!
this is so great
Ilan is a badass. Excellent interview. Bear 🐻 Down Stryker!!!
BEAR DOWN!!!!!

Fantastic interview and video all around!!! Ilan has been my favorite musician since 2013. What a treat this was. Thank you.

@@JB-xc1oe and he played 99.9% of the instruments on the LP.

Brilliant chat. Ilan has been a part of so many bands I like bit I've never really known much about him. He seems like a top bloke 👍

Phenomenal interview, he seems like a fantastic guest.
Nice interview (as always), Mr. Stryker! I would love to see you interview David Kennedy as well :)
thank you so much!
His voice is very calming, I like it
Tickets to Nine Inch Nails just went on sale today! Is Ilan going to be on the tour??
this is amazing man!
22:30 the band i am devouring and listening to with an obsessive approach is AVA hahahaha
This should be required course material at any music school, particularly the Berklee School of Music.
appreciate you watching the chat with Ilan!
poor Ilan! he was probably cursing the interviewer as he was driving home lmao
Stryker is such a good interviewer!!!
THANK YOU!!
Anybody can listen to anything… dang this podcast is really speaking to me. Radio 📻 would come back hard playing unheard GREAT music.
That intro was fuckin hilarious

Not to mention Trent's peak of drug addiction influence on all that minimalistic music. "Misery inspires" - Silversun Pickups
First. Seen ilan drum for NIN 5 times. Epic.
Thank you, Garry!
Nice
Is Stryker not with KROQ?
I left the station last July.
he is talking about Greta Van Fleet hahahahahahaha
Streams and likes do not = ticket sales. Interesting 🧐
Well I guess I'm not going to bed then
good morning!
See you in Ohio
