Great interview. My first time seeing AFI was when they opened up for Dance Hall Crashers & No Use For A Name. Mid 90’s. Wanna say 96-97. I was hooked.
Those were great times and we didnt even realize it at the time, I saw them in late 95 when they were basically unknown. Tiny grange hall in Nevada City with maybe 30 people there at most. Moshing with Davey and the rest of the band for 2 hours straight. Afterwards they hung out with everyone BS'ed, and signed stuff

I think Davey is one of the most eloquent and interesting people of all time. 🖤 my best gal and I saw Dreamcar in AZ in the very beginning and it was packed and so much fun. I got to see them again at a festival and it was just such a experience.
I ran into Davey back around October at a show in Los Angeles and chatted with him for a good ten minutes or so. He's such a sweetheart. I asked him about Son of Sam and if there would be any possibility working with at least Steve Zing and London May again, to which he said that he wouldn't feel comfortable pursuing again since Todd Youth was the main songwriter for that project. He then went on to tell me that the artwork for the album was supposed to be completely different from the gal that we got..I think he mentioned it was supposed to be a man with goat legs? Pretty much an evil Faun. Either way, as another user mentioned, it's so awesome to hear him talk of that project nearly 21 years later. Perhaps the first time he's mentioned it on video? I could be wrong.
Ted Stryker and Davey Havoc are true GOATs. Ive been listening to AFI since 2001. That’s 20 years, and through all my years of evolving they have been there by my side. I used to be a true punk and only listened to their early stuff, then I listened sing the sorrow and it showed me what these guys are capable of. The album Crash showed off Davey’s potential as a fashion genius. And as I moved into the EDM scene here comes fuckin Davey and Jade with Blakq Audio! Are you kidding me? I was a at the Rufus Du Sol show too. Can’t wait to see y’all at the palladium!
I saw them play at the colbalt cafe in San Fernando valley there was maybe 50 people there. My band played there all the time so I was able to just walk backstage, we talked to Davey for a good 30 min before the set he was so down to earth and nice. And yes they got on stage and killed it
@TunaonToastwithStryker This was the best Davey interview I've ever seen! It was cool to hear stories from back in the day and old experiences. Most interviewers would just ask generic questions about the new record lol Felt more like a conversation / reminiscing between old friends which I find way more interesting and kool! It sounds like you guys could go on forever, perhaps a Part 2 with Davey could be possible in the future? Maybe? Wink wink nudge nudge lol :D
No matter how many interviews I watch of this man. He still is a mystery to me, It's never enough.

Kevin, you rule so much, thank you!
Love to watch interviews with Davey!
I'll never forget, and I'll forever love the AFI/MTV concert for Sing the Sorrow. 🖤🖤🖤
Lol ... I'm like 3 minutes in and I can tell this is gold
I'm smiling!So nice toseehim,thanks,loveAfi
Cool interview! Well done Stryker 🔥
This is such a fantastic interview with DXH. I appreciate Avocado on Toast! 🥑
I saw them play at the colbalt cafe in San Fernando valley there was maybe 50 people there. My band played there all the time so I was able to just walk backstage, we talked to Davey for a good 30 min before the set he was so down to earth and nice. And yes they got on stage and killed it
Davey is always so classy, intelligent, and well spoken.
Absolutely love him.
This is a beautiful interview
thanks for the nice comment!
This could have gone on for another hour and I would have loved every minute. Great, personal and relaxed interview
thank you, Kevin!
Ahhh the way he says "overcome them," at 5:15 makes my heart go pitter patter.
Umm, this is for real?! I couldn't even imagine meeting Davey Havok, or any other member of AFI. Ok, wow. . I'm in shock. This feels so real
I’m here 2 yenes later. This man is such an artist and inspiration. 🔥 I love him.
