I recently made NETN (Johnson City) my home; and I came from California. It surprises me none whatsoever that Tennessee is having a migration boom. It is unfortunate that the housing supply is not keeping up with demand, but there are other factors in play that has made it difficult to buy (or rent). Wages definitely have not kept up with the cost-of-living, of which seems to be one of the major contributors. The people are great here, but expect some ribbing if you come from out-of-state. Most of the kidding is in fun, but there are a few folks out there don't adapt to change very well. Honestly, I can't blame them. That said, we are all Americans, and that is a blessing that some see past this day and age.
East TN vs Mid TN... This might seem like a dumb question, but... what distance are we talking in driving time? Im in SoCalif, to drive from LA to SF, that is a 8-9 hour drive. LA to Oregon State line is 12-14 hours or more. LA to Las Vegas is about 4 hours, and its through the ugliest desert in the World, parts of it is even call "Death Valley" (REALLY) Question, TN seems like a small State, but also mostly small 'poor' roads..? Are we talking 2 hours Nashville to Knoxville? Is that a 2 lane road or 4 lanes? What speed would be considered normal in TN... LA to SF, is 3-4 lanes each direction, traveling about 70-80mph most of the way. So.. Distance = Time to travel + roads, road condition + speed.. Any help?
Hi! Downtown Knoxville to Downtown Nashville is about a 2.5 - 3 hour drive... depending on who's driving. 😂 The drive from one to the other is all on I-40 which is our major East to West interstate. Most places this is a 4 lane interstate, BUT it does get wider in both metro Knox and metro Nashville. I hope this helps.

West TN wins lol. East TN born but my roots are from the West and I spent a few years in Middle TN. The whole state is home tho
West is flat. And Memphis.... Ugh. Unfortunately though West TN does have more affordability going for it.
You live in Knoxville, just mentioned UT and showed a picture of Neyland Stadium and you say Bristol, attended by about 2500 people now because NASCAR is failing, is the biggest sporting event in East Tennessee? UT football alone has a 400 million dollar a year impact on the Knox County economy. It is by far the most popular sports team in the state and blows away anything any other area of the state produces, including the Titans and the hockey team that no one in the state cares about outside of Nashville.
You are 100% correct and I see what you are saying. I was thinking for on the professional side, but also, I fully admit - I am just a disappointed UT football fan.
What’s it like E of Tri-Cities? I like elevation and milder climate.
Check out Mountain City. It might be what you are looking for.
is the central tennessee accent like the realtor? going on accent i pick east
East TN!!!!!!
Do I need to buy cowboy boots and a Ford before I move to Tennessee?
Well... lol, I don't have a Ford, but I do have two pairs of cowboy boots... so.. maybe??? 😂
You missed Sea Ray for East Tennessee
Why is it that no one talks about Athens ?? Can I hear your thoughts on it.
Hi Susan! This is a great question. I will make video about it. Do you live in Athens and want to see more content on it or are you wanting more information on it?
@@HaleyJonesRealtor I’m moving there in a few mo thx to retire by my grandkids
@@HaleyJonesRealtor my son and family just moved there. I will be following soon but there’s so many towns close by that I’m not sure what or where to look around at things. Hoping if weather permits I’ll move in the next few months
Athens is awesome. Great location, really nice houses are being built. I would have bought there but I could not find a property because they sold super fast.
@@truthbetold6942 That's right. There are a lot of developments in the area. Let me know if your plans would change.
Chattanooga has a professional Soccer team, and a AA baseball team
Very well said!!!!
UT Vols football team is a better team than Vanderbilt football since I used to work at Vanderbilt university medical center.
@@HaleyJonesRealtor Thanks, helped a lot.
It takes roughly 8-9 hrs to cross the whole state,,,
We are currently at California capacity! Sorry
Middle Tennessee is the best.
Hey you forgot elizabethton
I need to do a video on Elizabethton for real!!!
East Tennessee is basically “Newport or NOT Newport” so long as they don’t live in Newport, they inherently feel special.
I live in East Tennessee and I've never heard of Newport
That’s a silly statement. Nothing wrong with Newport or Cocke county, yes it has had a bad rep in the past but it’s really changed if I believe the stories I’ve heard. I live between Newport and Cosby in the mountains, it’s amazing here I love it.
I-26 from kingport to 1-95
East Tennessee is better IMO, but they are both better then west Tennessee
I am clearly biased, but East TN is the best!
What's wrong with west tn? I was just thinking no one talks about west tn

East Tn is the best place to be if your retired. Middle to West Tn sucks! If your still working then I give Tn a F for jobs because most are low paying and below poverty. If you want small town and super nice people then East Tn is where it is at. If you like high crime then you will like middle and West Tn. If you want to pay more money for a home or rent then you will like Middle and West Tn. But for me you could not pay me enough to live in the piss holes of middle and West Tn..
