Bill was a master of his own craft. He is an icon in bluegrass music, as well as American music as a whole. This was towards the end of his life, and his voice while frail, still holds the power and poise he always had. Two of his best songs without a doubt. So glad this exists. Rest In Peace Mr Monroe
I have always loved Bill Monroe and Blue Grass and I have loved Emmylou Harris from the first time I saw her! She is my favorite. I got my love of Blue Grass from my patent's. They would play it on the radio when we were going to and back from My Grandma's and Grandaddy's farm in the country in Virginia! Great times! ❤️
Bill Monroe was the greatest Bluegrass Singer of all!!! His band was so alsome!!!! RIP Bill Monroe...Now we Have Rhonda Vincent and Her Band that carry on this great Music..God Bless These Talented People who Makes us Proud!!!
Even though Emmy Lou was the headliner and leader Monroe shook each one of the musician's hands. He had the audience help him sing and tipped his hat to them twice in appreciation. 👍😀💕 Respect 🙏 👏
I was raised around traditional Hawaiian music. But bill monroe always caught my ear. His amazing high lonesome voice and adherence to the traditional sound is why we still hear that beautiful music. Thank you bill Monroe.
Mr Monroe Sounded just Fine And Soulful to me.All of U who didnt appreciate it,DONT REALLY LIKE OR UNDERSTAND BLUEGRASS.LOVE U BILL AND I COULD LISTEN TO U SING JUST LIKE THIS FOREVER.MISS U MAN.
Emmylou, you are still a beautiful lady, with the voice of an angel. I have always adored you and your singing God bless you always, love yah! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💥🔥💝🥰
In the 60's Bill and his Bluegrass Boys would perform at our old county fair at a stage right by our cattle livestock barns. He was my dad's music hero. Dad never cared for the fair or the midway but would come out to see Bill, then go home. Dad played the mandolin or his big Gibson with Black Diamond strings on the front porch. He could have easily been a"blue grass boy".
My grand Pa and Grand Ma had an old 78 record of Kentuckey Waltz. On Saturday Grand Pa, and Granny would get a snootfull and would dance to that scratchy old record
Although, I never lived there, both, sides of my dad's family were very early KY settlers from the early 1800's. So my roots run deep in the state and I am proud of that.
@@estelleadamski308 Well, we're Connecticut Yankees on that side since around 1949...! But I enjoy getting to know Kentucky. Without thinking about it, I got into Merle, the Blue Sky Boys and several others.

Bill Monroe's earliest-known performance of "Blue Moon of Kentucky" was on the Grand Ole Opry broadcast of August 25, 1945. The next year he recorded it with the Bluegrass Boys when Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs were members.
You're absolutely right... Good morning Partty how are you doing over there hope you're having a wonderful day it's another lovely day that the lord has made.
Bill is 84 here. He died the following year, just a few days before his 85th birthday. I sobbed at the news of his death and couldn't speak for hours. I miss him sorely.
I met Bill in England in 1974 along with Kenny Baker. I played his "October F5 mandolin only a strong famer could play it , it had "the blank" he dug out the "Gibson" with a pen knife I'm also friends with the talented Julia La Bella who was Bills lady ❤️
This song always reminds of Dennis clay Tammy father he loved this song and so did my dad bill Moreno was one of the greatest as so many other country this is country not like today's so call new country
Thank you, I was wondering how old he was then. And @abjos eck have a little respect. This is where country music shines. The old help the young and the young help the old.
Is that Sam Bush on fiddle? I backed him up a few years before this, on the Lonesome Pine Specials (Kentucky Educational Television). We put on a good show.

This unearthly beautiful song will always be so beloved. I love Emmylou's gorgeous voice, and her obvious respect for him.
I love how she calls him Mr. Monroe instead of being more familiar with him. Sows how she respects the people who led the way.

Love the one and only Bill Monroe. My papa favorite
Let Bill Munroe rest, he's tired & he can't go back to the past! Perhaps he can do mentoring jobs but no more of a stage performer...
Just stopped by to pay a visit to Jerusalem Hill, driving on the Blue Moon Highway...chills knowing I was in Monroe country

Good thing there's TH-cam or else we'd never see these legends. Vince Gill does a good job with blue moon. Both speed up the word "of" after moon.

Is that Sam Bush on fiddle? I backed him up a few years before this, on the Lonesome Pine Specials (Kentucky Educational Television). We put on a good show.
Right on, Sam Bush indeed!
Sam toured with Emmylou for awhile in the 90s----
to have bleeping commercials in the clip, just as Mr Monroe wants to start singing, is criminal. Big brickbats
