I'm an old atheist but I have listened to this a hundred times and it almost never fails to produce a tear. Stunningly beautiful in it's vocal purity and sung by a master who clearly believes every word.

A couple of people have mentioned that this version is better than Pentatonix. It’s honestly not even a contest. This quality and nuance of their harmonies make them truly special. The fact that the creator of this amazing song consented to sing this with them really says something. Mark was part of a group called the Gaither Vocal Band who’s harmonies and blending are the stuff of legends.

Two days later, Buddy called Mark and sang his song to him. Both amazingly talented guys. The song has been covered by many artists over the years. The most popular would probably be the Gaither Vocal Band (the quartet Mark was a part of for many years), Kenny Rogers with Wynonna Judd, and my personal favorite, Pentatonix.

What always floored me with Mark is I first met him as the "Christian Comedian", then he comes out with THIS! I never drew the line between him and the gathers for the longest time... duhhhh....
I'm a singer at my church in the choir and in a 12 person group. As a person that has been given talents from the Lord to use for his honor and glory I can truly say that this is an amazing version acapella of Mary did You know. It affected me. I love vocals with no music. It's beautiful how God made the voices to blend together so beautifully. We are nothing without God. We can't even take credit for our own talents because God is the giver of all talents. When I sing, something happens in my soul that just opens up to God. I love singing for the Lord and I thank him for the talents he has given me and I want him to use them for his honor and glory. I love seeing other people that are born again do the same. You can win souls with your singing talent. Music can get into people like nothing else, the right kind of music, godly music. I don't know if anybody noticed but it's worthy to be re-recognized that there was a gentleman that responded in the comment section that he said he was an old atheist and he said how this brought a tear to his eye every time he listens to it. No doubt, the Lord had a hand in that and perhaps now he's no longer an atheist. I would encourage all children of God to keep that man in prayer. I have absolutely no idea how to describe the feeling I get from the chords being sang in this song. But it overwhelms me to the point of genuine tears. Bravo. This is what I would consider a perfect arrangement.
Before this I thought the Pentatonix version was the best version and no one could top it, but Mark's voice has such a story teller quality to it, and Voctave's usual great mixing and control adds an ambience behind it all that is unmatched. I feel like I just saw a movie with Mark as the wise narrator telling us his story.

Go get one of those Arizona Tea cans, or something of the same size. Put one end against the wall, and lean against the other end with your diaphragm and your forehead against the wall. Now, push yourself away from the wall just by breathing. That's called a diaphragm pushup. Do about twenty of those a day, and you will be surprised how much breath control you get when it comes to holding notes.
The quality of those voices is insane. And Mark Lowry held that note while SITTING DOWN!! This version of this song is such a blessing and I listen to it all throughout the year.

I'm amazed at how simple, yet how dynamic this song is. Yes, the orchestration and vocals are out of this world, but the lyric itself is beyond beautiful. I can only imagine a new mother looking at her newborn child, so in love yet knowing there is a reason for Him being here. That child would go on to touch lives for centuries to come. Would do all that was said in this song and more, and by His name ALONE can still do mighty things just as He did physically as he walked in person healing, touching lives. Mary knew He was great, but couldn't ever imagine the extent of His purpose. That sleeping child, the great I AM will return. Your baby is God incarnate, the creator of everything.

If you listen closely, no one phrases this song the way Mark does. You can always tell when it’s him because of the phrasing in the line “ calms the storm with his HAND” and not “HIS hand”, and it makes a difference.

I have absolutely no idea how to describe the feeling I get from the chords being sang in this song. But it overwhelms me to the point of genuine tears.

Before this I thought the Pentatonix version was the best version and no one could top it, but Mark's voice has such a story teller quality to it, and Voctave's usual great mixing and control adds an ambience behind it all that is unmatched. I feel like I just saw a movie with Mark as the wise narrator telling us his story.
Just stunning. I've heard several beautiful versions of this song, but now know the difference when someone believes the words with his whole heart. The joy and genuine love in his face and voice is just so moving.

Go get one of those Arizona Tea cans, or something of the same size. Put one end against the wall, and lean against the other end with your diaphragm and your forehead against the wall. Now, push yourself away from the wall just by breathing. That's called a diaphragm pushup. Do about twenty of those a day, and you will be surprised how much breath control you get when it comes to holding notes.

I'm amazed at how simple, yet how dynamic this song is. Yes, the orchestration and vocals are out of this world, but the lyric itself is beyond beautiful. I can only imagine a new mother looking at her newborn child, so in love yet knowing there is a reason for Him being here. That child would go on to touch lives for centuries to come.
