I gotta be honest, I bought a P30L because I needed a 9mm and the LEM trigger gives me 1 trigger pull like a striker fire, but has an exposed hammer to make reholstering safer. I don't expect anyone to care about that last part, but it is a selling point of hammer fired firearms for concealed carry.

@Jesse-sz6fp if I were to carry a Glock, I'd do exactly the same. I'll be honest, if HK could make an optics ready p30 and get the cost to the same as a Glock 19 MOS, I'd never suggest a Glock to anyone again.

@@lordhellfire153 I own two USPs with LEMs and a P2000 with LEM and there's still plenty of reasons I'd recommend a Glock. It's quite literally one trigger pull to learn, no real change in distance of the trigger pull either. And it's extremely simple to detail strip and clean. Not to mention it's more lightweight and streamlined/oversimplified. They're both polymer pistols but they're still different guns. The Glock is also the tinkerers gun if that's something they'd think they'd be into due to the insane amount of aftermarket. There's a lot of things I'd like for my HKs that can only be found for Glocks unfortunately. That includes quality holsters for different optic/wml configurations, both AIWB and OWB/DUTY.

I have a modified MK25 with SIG Procut slide because it looks awesome, has combat sights, and optic mount. I also installed Gray Guns SRT to shorten the reset like the Legion. I also like the trigger on the MK25 226 better than the Grey Guns SAIT flat trigger. Just feels better. The weight and balance of the 226 is noteworthy also. Re: Glock Service Life
A lot of the impressions about frames cracking after 100,000 rounds on rental guns does not account for whether or not those rental guns had their springs, especially the recoil spring, replaced on any sort of a meaningful schedule.
When recoil springs and parts are replaced at the end of their intended service life, those frames and guns will go forever - this is true of pretty much every accepted service pistol.

This is literally the first I've ever heard of 1st gen M&Ps "leaving a bad taste" with people. I bought my M&P over 10 years ago and they had a reputation for being solid, reliable guns on par with Glock even back then. Aside from the hinged trigger design, you'd be hard pressed to find anything negative that people would say about them. That statement really caught me by surprise.

@hansjurgen are these issues stemming just from early production runs in the first year or two? Because I did a fair amount of research before buying mine, which would have been sometime around 2011/2012, and as I've said I don't recall seeing or hearing anything of the sort at that time. If I had, I wouldn't have bought it lol. (This was right around when the original Shield was first introduced) There was nothing but praise for the M&P line from everything that I was hearing and reading during the time that I was looking into it... and since. Maybe they worked those issues out by the time I started looking at them? I dunno, like I keep saying, I'm genuinely surprised to hear of any issues with the M&P.

  • @s00-x2h
    @s00-x2h 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

0:20 "Opinions on the M&P vs the Glocks for competition, any input would help with my decision."
1:18 "Glock 19 is like buying a BCM upper and Aero lower. It's boring, reliable, easy-to-acquire item that will work, and no one will be impressed."
1:47 "Glock 19 or Glock 45 is probably two most recommended pistols. I'm a bigger guy so I favor 4-inch slide with full size grip. PDP 4-inch pistol I want to try out in the future."
2:14 "Glock 19 has been so successful as a do-all handgun that it's a archetype now. Anyone brings up buying a 9mm polymer-frame pistol, the Glock 19 is usually the first one people mention, it's the default option, which is why most people start with the Glock 19 and then move on to other things pretty quickly. The Glock 19 has a place in the gun collection of everyone, it's by no means everyone's first choice but it's a millennial and Gen-X handgun of choice, much like the 1911 was for boomers and Silent generation."
3:06 "Really enjoy the content lately, maybe I haven't watched enough of your videos to hear your thoughts on the M&P line. It seems that I hear more and more online these days about Springfield and Canik."
3:57 "Staccato cells (?) are gonna be fuming at this one."
4:30 "M&P 2.0 compact 4-inch barrel, same size as the Glock 19, M&P 2.0 triggers (have) a very defined wall so you know when it breaks, easy to hit 2-inch targets consistently or targets at distance when you prep the trigger. My Glock 19 trigger has a rolling break with the spongy feel, harder and slower for me to take those precision and distance shots. M&P 2.0 has a more natural grip angle, the dot is on target straight from the draw, with the Glock I have to remember I'm shooting a Glock and I have to remind myself to bend my wrist down to find the dot."
5:09 "I own lots of guns and only 2 Glocks, a 19 and a 17. One is my bedside gun, the other I carry. That's what I think about Glocks."
5:28 "Fanboy or not gonna have a tough time outperforming a Glock 19."
6:06 "If I just wanted to buy a pistol for self-protection like the majority of people do, then a Glock most likely is the best pistol to buy. Its availability, track record, price, along with the aftermarket support make it a no-brainer for a lot of people because it's straightforward and utilitarian. Like many have said countless times Glock to the gun world is what Toyota is to the car world. That being said exactly why I personally (and?) a lot of other people don't buy into the mass appeal. It's just a Toyota, it's just a Glock, it's very plain, there's no character about it and there's nothing that it really does well out of the ordinary that a lot of pistols don't do already other than the fact that there's a ton of them everywhere for cheap, that's ultimately why the Glock is what it is. There probably are other objectively better performing polymer-frame pistols than the Glock in just about every category but lack of (the) market demand of the Glock and therefore they simply cannot keep up."
7:26 "Another reason Glock owns the market: because they were the first polymer-frame pistol, so naturally over the course of a couple of decades people are gonna be more familiar with the Glock than they will the S&W M&P or Walther PDP, and therefore there's gonna be more wide use of the Glock, and meaning more aftermarket support meaning more demand."
8:35 "It's all kind of pointless nowadays because there's a lot of pistols and weapons generally you simply cannot go wrong with. Being accurate, reliable, affordable, and available aren't characteristics specific to just one make and model."
8:57 "You prissy bi-ch of a gun snob, it's part of why your channel is good. Most gun snobs are emotional but you seem to have real reasons behind it. I bought a 226 recently and I like it, but realistically my Glock 19 is more utilitarian in most aspects, although I like the 226 experience better. No longer a comp shooter btw just have guns for self-defense."
11:01 "I agree with you Mr. Stagger [sic] I've owned many different pistols other than a Glock and finally made the decision a few years back to train with what I carry on and off duty, that's the Glock. G45 MOS is my favorite, if I had to pick one it'd be the G19. I sold most of my inventory to focus on training using one platform, couldn't be happier, even with all the disgust I get for shooting a Glock."
11:33 "Video title: Best Pistol Ever **Holds up a Glock** 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦I'm outta here, better things to do with my time."
11:41 "If I can only use one, I would choose something that was proven to not break at very high round counts. Think there's probably better options than Glocks now."
11:59 "I heard rental Gen 3 Glocks would crack slides at 100k rounds, and Gen 4 starts seeing frame failure at 10k rounds. So it seems Glock is a brand name with degrading quality possibly? I would want something guaranteed to run for a long time without critical parts failure and to be logistically independent as possible except ammo."
12:32 "I don't even own a Glock, I have numerous other options. If I were forced to pick one I'd get the 19, the only alternative would be the M&P 9 in the same form factor. But the Glock 19 wins because of the abuse that people have forced them through along with the track record. I'm not a huge fan of them but I'd choose them for sure."
13:08 "Glock 19 is a Toyota Camry of guns, it does what it needs to pretty well, there's nothing wrong with them. I tell everyone who asks if you can shoot a Glock 19, buy a Glock 19. I don't like them as much as my P320 so I don't shoot one, but if I was rich I'd buy about a dozen to have in case someone needed a gun."
13:32 "I really look at the 19, I say this as someone who EDCs a Gen 5 19, as the best compromise pistol. It's small enough it's fairly easy to conceal, large enough you can run it as a duty pistol if you choose. The big selling point to most I think, is that it takes the same parts of the other Glocks so you aren't stepping out of the ecosystem like you would with other designs. And if you don't own 40 Glock mags nowadays what are you even doing? Doesn't really excel at either role spectacularly but it does work. I'd argue the 48, especially with the Shield mag, makes a more compelling carry gun."
14:12 "I prefer my Canik TP9, it doesn't feel like holding a block of wood, the only reasonable justification for a Glock has been its reliability. Sadly for Glock, many other guns are just as reliable, have much better triggers, much better sights, better mags, and astoundingly better ergonomics. The arrogance of Glocks have caught up with them. Explain to me the logic of spending 600+ on a Glock, knowing you're gonna put an additional 500 or more into it to make it what you want and need it to be. Obviously my personal opinion, but I know it's shared with many others."
15:10 "Glocks suck, I have never regretted selling all the ones I've ever bought because they don't do anything well enough to warrant keeping them. MOS is a shit system for many reasons; for newer shooters, limp wristing tends to jam them; their mags are too thick and therefore hold way less rounds than they should; their Performance Trigger has issues; can't be field stripped without the pull of a trigger; and so on and so forth…"

I actually know of gen 4 glocks breaking the front of the slide where it interfaces with the recoil spring assembly, usually in .40, and probably beyond the recommended service life for that part. The same assumption would be a gen 3 cracking a slide at around 100k rounds. A lot of people still spout the "you never need to replace the recoil spring assembly and you don't need to ever service it."

One of the reason for the popularity of Glock is it’s acceptance by Law Enforcement. One of the reasons LE gravitates towards Glock is the simplicity of maintenance and repair. An armorer can be trained in eight hours or less. This is especially important when dealing with large numbers of guns to detail strip and maintain yearly as is the case in many agencies.

Nowadays S&W’s QC is disappointing, at best. I have enough people wanting a kydex holster for the Bodyguard 2.0 that I’m picking one up tomorrow just to press holsters on. I’ll definitely take it to the range to say I shot it, but I will honestly be surprised if it doesn’t malfunction.

I think people sleep on the USP and USP Compact because they seem to think that they're way more expensive than they really are and because they aren't optics ready unless you mill them. I personally love mine and I only carry a USP Compact now. And it was only a couple hundred more than my glocks. I do have a lot of Glocks too tho. G17, G19, G34, G43x, and a couple others. I own too many handguns right now, including the Shield Plus, Walther PDP-F 4" & PDP full size, Walther P99, couple 1911's, CZ P-01, CZ P-10F (actually really love this gun, and the P-01 as well), HK VP9, P2000, USP Compact, USP, etc.

Question for Ben - I remember you stated you started with a Beretta, then went tanfoglio (spelling?) when you were competing USPSA. I haven’t followed you enough to know but it seems there’s a lot of credence given to using one gun type for a long time to gain skills. After your USPSA departure (and in this video) did that steer you to shooting different guns (Glocks, CZ’s, staccato’s, AR’s, etc.) or did you do that before?
Second question, in kind of this same vein do you think it benefits shooters to pick a solid reputable gun and stick with that gun to nail down skills in dry fire and shooting and then after a bit of mastery has developed changing platforms less?

It's funny that people are saying Glocks aren't durable, when they're arguably the most durable polymer pistol on the market besides perhaps something like the USP. There's been plenty of Glocks that have made it to 200k rounds, and I've YET to hear of any other pistol even coming close to that. I've heard of P30s making it to 90k, PX4s getting to 60k, but very few pistols make it to 200k. And 200k rounds is equal to $25,000 with the cheapest crappiest bulk ammo I can find online. Who here, (besides a few high-level competitors and guys like Ben), is going to put 200k rounds through ONE gun? I can afford 50 Glocks with how much ammo I'd have to put through one to thoroughly break it. Literally the cheapest thing in the entire equation is the pistol itself.

The only reason it exists is because people tried to game the carry optics and production system which it failed at. My fully cajunized CZ shadow was a third of an alien. It's carry optic, limited, and production legal depending on how i want to run it. It's a gun that isnt legal in anything but open and limited, is as expensive as an atlas, but shoots worse than one. With all the experts on youtube I'll give you average dude perspective, likes to shoot steel targets or whatever, have a good time up in the mountains or the sand dunes, all that. I'm not coming from the perspective of a guy who times his splits, is video worthy, I'm just a guy who grew up in a mid sized city in the Snake River/Tetons area and guns were everywhere. Growing up we'd go shooting, never thought about trigger pull, barrel twist rate, blah blah blah. Was meant to have fun and that's still the way I look at it.
Here's my priority list that I look for in a pistol:
    1. Looks pretty cool
    2. Won't jam
    3. Easy to maintain
    4. Accurate enough not to be embarrassing
    5. Under $1000 (I have expensive pistols like the Staccato and CZ Shadow and while they're f'in great, feel like I got ripped off a little because at my slightly above average skill level they're not so much greater for double or triple the price of other nice pistols)
    6. Doesn't make me look like a wannabe douche.
Interesting about the M&P. I've been buying quite a few pistols past 3 years, various brands, never really considered M&P. Wasn't really on purpose just with the seemingly hundreds of good options, M&P just never really stood out to me until literally a week or so ago. I stop in at gun shops if I see one just to browse because it's fun. Retired cop I know who runs the D&B Supply gun section is fun to talk to so we were chatting. Knowing me a bit, he said I should check out this 4" steel M&P 2.0 because he knows I also like pistol/PCC combo and M&P has that relatively new foldable PCC. I've toted around a Glock 17 with the Ruger 10122 PCC for a long time when I'm in mountians or back country and don't want to have different mags and ammo. Have to say, 2.0 Metal seems really cool. Weight is good, size is good, grip felt fantastic but what surprised me the most was the trigger. I like the PDP series a lot so I wasn't prepared to be impressed but it felt clean like the Walther trigger.
Hard to find youtube reviews on the 2.0 Metal. Anyone have some insight?

I watched the other video about this topic. I didn’t comment on that, but I agree with the consensus about the Glock 19. I have run a 19 for many years. It’s as reliable as can be and it’s as accurate as I can be. I’ve taken new Glocks and torture tested them pretty hard and they keep on running. Sure there are prettier, fancier, cooler pistols but the Glock 19 has been a pretty outstanding option for me.

Question for Ben - I remember you stated you started with a Beretta, then went tanfoglio (spelling?) when you were competing USPSA. I haven’t followed you long enough to know but it seems there’s a lot of credence given to using one gun type for a long time to gain skills. After your USPSA departure (and in this video training organizations that used different guns) did that steer you to shooting different guns (Glocks, CZ’s, staccato’s, AR’s, etc.) or did you do that before?
Second question, in kind of this same vein do you think it benefits shooters to pick a solid reputable gun and stick with that gun to nail down skills in dry fire and shooting and then after a bit of mastery has developed changing platforms less? It seems like the obvious answer would be “yes”, but you never know and I was curious to confirm whether it was obvious or was there more to it?

mr. stoeger can we hear your opinion on 22lr lmao, its 90% of what i shoot bc im kinda poor but i love my ruger mark iv and tx22 and have 3 22lr uppers for my ar lol ive gotten really really good for cheap and it translates to my g19

The last comment is the one that gets me the most. Many have this opinion and I don’t understand it. Folks seem to have a major issue with pulling the trigger to take down guns. Not just the Glock.

Would the cz shadow 2 compact replace a g19 it seems better in every category

Depends on the shooter. Is a full sized shadow 2 a better gun in your mind than a glock 34? There are pro's and cons to both. I like berettas, but most people cannot handle a non competition oriented double action pull. Are you good at a DA pull? Would you rather have consistency in your trigger pull like a glock? Its all up to you. I would carry a shadow if they had drop safeties and better manual safeties, but there are people who carry them regardless.

Plenty of striker fired, polymer guns that are reliable, walther, fn, cz, hk ive shot and owned them all the cz p10 series woeks best for me, i own the only glock i like which is the g20, the most important factor is training, train with what you like and master it

Are there pistols that I like more then a Glock because of the trigger pull, the grip angle, feel, absolutely. Have any of them even come close to a Glock in terms of ease of maintenance or reliability not exactly. The Walther PDP is growing on me. The HK USP is a tank. I am at something like 14k rounds on a gen 5 glock 34 and have not cleaned it once and it still functions flawlessly.
