I subscribed yesterday after watching your bell video. I didn’t make bells yet but I did a couple of Christmas trees after watching a different video. I should have watched yours first! I didn’t leave enough space at the base of the tree on my first ones. I’m using carbide tools as I try to learn workpiece supports and techniques. I may never be a pro, but I’m enjoying the new challenge. Thanks for the videos.
Dean, I have to say thank you and I wish I could say it 100 times because I watched this 2 weeks ago and started learning them right away, I had about 12 of them made up and had my first craft fair today. I sold out of them within an hour at $8 each! Truly grateful for your videos, looking forward to the next ones!
When you use a limb for an ornament how fresh of a limb can you use? Can I use limbs that fell after a storm? Or do they need to be something that has sat for a long time?
You can use them right off the tree just coat them with a finishing oil as soon as possible after turning this will reduce or prevent the cracking. Thanks for watching!!!
Wish we could post a photo of our efforts, after watching your videos. Love this fast idea.. all my friends "want" something I make. Now I got a easy idea
I really like that you begin these projects by highlighting the lowly limb. When you're a beginner limbs are easy to come by and store--and you don't need a chainsaw and bandsaw to get a right-sized blank.
As always, a great video, Dean. I have one suggestion- it's really nice to see a clean background closeup of your project at the end so we can appreciate all your talent even more. Thanks for all your great videos. Salute!
Donald that is exactly what I saw when I started to part it off. This is the first one I have done like that but it will not be the last. Thanks for Watching!!!
Nice Dean. I made a bunch of these last year. Added “precut” golden wooden stars to the top, a spray of glitter green paint, and viola. One of a kind hand-crafted items. My wife even got involved & started turning too. Win win. 👍
I watched this and your bell videos today and tried to make these tonight. There's a lot of skill in them but they're really great fun to make. Thanks for sharing!
Tyler I appreciate your concern however it is not cloth its rubber and with the slightest tug it comes off otherwise I would not be wearing it. However great SAFETY shout out everyone please be careful. Your safety is your responsibility. Thanks for Watching!!!
@@DeansWoodworking oh good, I'm glad you have it thought through at least. I come from a safety culture (wildland firefighting) so I'm probably too aware of how dangerous things that cut wood are. Thanks for the videos!
Always a pleasure to see you turning
Motivated Brother Thanks.
Great demo thanks
Thanks for watching!
I have to make some of these. My wife and I are going riding around looking for cut down limbs tomorrow. Thanks for the video. It was great

Thank you so much Tammy!!!
Tree's what?
What brand sandpaper are you using?
It is a 3M product that they no longer produce, It has a rugery backing. Thanks for Watching!!!
While I appreciate the crafts that are made I just cringe watching you reach over a 1000 rpm chuck with a cloth watch on trying to catch your piece.
