Wow, the car turned out great! Nice and honest, the next owner is very lucky. Cheers, Rob.
@@zambam3 Thanks Rob, it's been a lot of work but its had a full mechanical going over and clean up. The interior sorted, dash board back to the 120 type..
I remember when i was a kid, i had my own car cleaning business to earn pocket money. A neighbour had an estelle in the same shade green as yours but as flat as the brown one. A whole day t-cutting and polishing BY HAND and it came up like new! She was stunned! But yes they did tend to fade quickly!
Modern polish will help keep the UV off more, get a good clean base back to the colour and them regular polishing should keep it looking good. The green one was the same, cleaned up really well, will need doing again soon..
Great video, Mick. It's great to see all your hard work pay off. Car looks fantastic considering how it looked when you first got it. Well done. 👍👍
@@redsworkshopuk Cherrs mate, it's a different car now.. literally a lot of it has been replaced 🤣
Cleaned up well and the new owner is really happy with it
you certainly did a job to be proud of on that estelle,Mick
@@a11csc Cneers, appreciate it. It's been a long job but worth it, the lad that has bought it has ab earlier Skoda, this will be used as a summer daily car and for weekend shows
Ended up looking good, nice daily classic that the average tinkering man can keep on the road.
Really nice to see this little car fixed up and given a new lease of life!
I had two 120s in the early 90s, from the main dealer in Eastbourne who cleaned them up like new. Both one pensioner owner, fsh, about 4 years old each one with around 20k on the clock for about £800 each time. Quite a bargain! I did about 60K miles in each in the UK and working in continental Europe. Quirky to drive, but economical to run and surprisingly reliable little things if serviced. When I finally traded up for a Favorit GLXi estate in 1996 though, I was surprised by how modern that felt to drive after the 120Ls.
@@frglee They are an old design but not bad to drive, well maintained they keep going.
The Favorit was a totally different drive..
Great video, great car, great work. Wish I'd bought it myself now😂
Its gone to a good home, I know the guy who bought it.. Not many left now so don't miss out, need to get in quick for one if you want one..
Another classic saved. Nice :)
Cheers, I try to kept things going and rarely scrap cars.. Even really bad ones get a chance
@@Mickhanic-garage I alwya liked the coupe versions. I remember a few of those around Derby when I was a kid.
@@thatguyfromcetialphaV there are still several here, the saloon is more common
polished up well, that particular colour fades / oxidizes really fast, mines the same, previous owner probably gave up a loosing battle on the paint as a repaint will last much better
@@messylaura yeah it goes chalky quite quickly
The butt of many a jokes back in the 80’s when I was a kid. Not a bad car tho
They were a cheap car and yes they had the jokes but mostly from people who had never owned or even driven one.. they are a lot better than the jokes would make you think 🙂
I imagine some of the jokes came from average Joes seeing these cars with the bonnet open
As a kid I thought these were ugly, I didn't fall for all the stupid jokes about how bad they were I just didn't like the look of them. Funny how your taste changes as you get old. ❤👍
@@armannvanhelden4884 I never noticed them as a kid, yes they were everywhere but not interested at all.. was more Opel Mantas and Mk1 Escorts.. I actually looked at it properly as I walked round at the end of this video, it looks good 👍
@@Mickhanic-garage It sure does. I liked TR7s, Spitfires, and wait for it.... Montegos😂. I still do 'n all.
@@armannvanhelden4884 Hmmm Montego next 🤔 🤣
Back in the 90's I had one of these in a horrid faded green, worst car I ever owned. I was driving from Plymouth to Liverpool and it broke down on the M5 as it tried to climb the hill approaching junction 19 and the Gordano services. I just left it there and thumbed a lift home. Never went back for it. Everything on it was cheap bendy and badly made all the jokes at the time in my view where well founded
They were a couple of decades behind western cars, compared to 90s mainstream cars yes they were flimsy and cheap but that's what they were and sold well.. just needed good maintenance
