Thank you for this advice! I've always been worried about cutting my rabbits nails and result of this has been very long nails but when I watch this video when I first got my bunny, A couple years ago, this worked very well thank you!
I'm glad to see you holding the rabbit's foot while clipping the nails. I saw a video of a Vet only holding the rabbit's body, the Vet started clipping the nails without holding the foot still which imo is risky if the rabbit should move its foot.
I'm really scared to cut my bunnies nails! She bits scratches and claws, she won't stand still for a minute! Can I get some vet or something to cut her nails for me?
I never knew you could or even had to cut rabbit nails. When I had my first bunny we never cut his nail. He grew to be a very big bunny but his nails were always fine .-. How weird
I got my first rabbit a week ago. Sharp nails included! :O I intended to wait with the nail clipping until he feels a 100 % safe around me. But I just couldn't handle he's sharp nails when he was walking on me. So I just decided to cut them. Its was a bit od a struggle. But thanks to this video I managed to do it. You are lucky that your rabbit took care of the issue himself. My rabbit named Felix loves to wash himself. I wish he would care for he's nails too.
Great video and editing! Very informative! My rabbits go to the vets to have their nails clipped because even though they are very tame and we have a great bond, nail clipping is a big no no for them haha :D
How I do it for my bunny who is skittish: I put a towel down for traction then pick him up so his back feet are on the ground, then I drop one of his front feet while they are in the air and clip his nails that way, he is extremely skittish but lets me do it this way. Then for his back feet I keep him the same way with his front feet in the air and his bottom foot on the ground and wiggle his bottom foot and gently move it foward. Once I do that, I clip his nails. I am able to do all of his feet. If this made zero sense look up "how to clip a rabbits nails howcast" and that way works the best
Great video it is such a struggle to cut my one rabbits nails ik a lot of 4 h people and instead of using clippers they use a dremmel and it has a sand paper barrel and wears it down u can get closet to the quick
I have a question. Neither of the methods worked for my rabbit she's really calm and super sweet. But she hates when I have to cut her nails. Last week I tried and I finally gave up and let her take a break. Now that I'm trying again I think she's learned I will give up if she fights me. Idk what to do I don't want to stress her out
How to trim rabbit's nails: My bunny is 6 months and i first trimmed his nails last week. Not becauce i don't care no!! He is most special. Its just that he is super active, he doesn't have a cage and is always free around the house. I tried so many times to imitate the vedios i saw on youtube and try to trim his nails. But it just did't work for Softie. He lets me flip him over , but he does't stay long enough to let me trim. At some point, i was so dissapointed and decided to use force for nail trimming, but i would have to scare him to death! So i came up with a new idea which worked really well. Instead of using force i decided to use LOVE! How? Well lets see. As he is too special and i would do anything for him. I decided wear a nail clipper necklace when iam at home, not always just for one or two days :) I'm using human nail clipper. So during two days i trim his nails without hurting him. I wear my clipper and whenever i get snuggles with him. Kiss him or pet him. I trim a nail. Then he tries to escape and i let him go. And i wait, till later, we get close to eachother again. I pet him till he closes his eyes, here we go again, I gently trim another nail, i continuein this way till i finish all his nails. only In this way i am able to trim all his nails perfectly within a day or two, it needs time and patience. But thats the only way i could do so.
I can not find the pink part bc i saw with flash alot under her nail i saw some pink then i see some black then white what I have to do i feel so much scared that i do in wrong way ....
If only it was that easy for me. XD On a good day, I can get one whole foot done. But even if I can get 2 nails, and go back another time... I'm happy.
*bunny scratches you with long nails* Me: eh, I need to cut them now :// *finishes trimming nails* *scratches with short nails* Me: AW GAUD THIS HURTS MORE
Is there something else you can use instead of cat clippers? I was going to use a finger nail file, but I figured it would be best to ask first. Thanks! :D
What do you recommend for rabbits who are a large size and don't like being held and try to bite (bunny is in the process of being handled to make her less aggressive)
Some people don't agree with this but the easiest way to clip a rabbits nails is to trance it. This can be done by simply laying your rabbit on his back. It's easier for your rabbit and yourself:)
Holly Martin I've never handled a large rabbit so I don't know really how, but maybe try put her up on a table? That way you don't have to handle her so much =)
I am going to get my first rabbit on my birthday and I have watched all your vids to prepare. I don't have very much money, so I'm trying to find the cheapest and most efficient way to do this.
Someone help please, my bunny doesnt let me 😭 he's really nervous even though i put him in a high place he seems so scared and Im afraid something may happen to him
Evin Vasquez you can find them at pet stores and even sometimes local grocery stores it really depends on where you live or you can always order them online!
I wrap my bunny in a blanket she hates her nailes getting trimmed and scratches and kicks. I give her extra love and kisses after I hate doing her nails I feel so bad but she fights me.
Wow, you said clip only every 2 to 3 months? Eek! We clip monthly if not every 2 weeks so the qwik stays shorter. If you allow bunny nails to get too long the qwik will grow longer, and it will be harder to trim back nails to shorter/appropriate length. Longer nails = more prone to sore hocks...especially mini rex or rex breed rabbits. Just an FYI for everyone. I'd say clip monthly at least.
Sarah rabbits nails don't grow that fast, and the bunnys nails in this video we're obviously not very long. Rabbits quicks grow with the rabbits nails so if you keep the nails from getting too long, the quick will not grow without the nail growing.
We have 6 rabbits and we've fostered 30 overs the last few years. We clip monthly to avoid issues including baby fosters which we end up having for 2 to 3 months per stay before they're returned to the Humane Society and placed for adoption once fixed. Whatever works for the care of your rabbits is great. But I prefer to prevent issues before they begin. Too each his own.
Great video! really helpful! like always, awesome video!

jib 268 Vet usually will do it, Sorry that your having so much trouble with her =(
StormyRabbits Thank you, can you suggest some vets? Just if you know some.
I have needed this video. I want rabbits, but I'm not allowed to have them so I am learning about them now so when I grow up, I can get some.
I never knew you could or even had to cut rabbit nails. When I had my first bunny we never cut his nail. He grew to be a very big bunny but his nails were always fine .-. How weird
***** You might of had rough surfaces that helped wear them down.
I think it was because we let him run around our backyard and since he loved to dig it must have worn it down
ShadowTheDemonWolf77 Dighing can do that too :)

Gamer Girl ...I personally wouldn't recommend using a nail file...if I was you I would just get cat clippers :)
OK, thanks! :)

My rabbit is 4 months old and she doesn't have long nails I am to scared to cut her nails what should I do? Please reply
It's a good idea like you said to give them treats :) my dog is petrified if water so I kept giving her treats my dog is on my channel
How early should I start clipping the nails? Hopefully getting a 8-10 week old holland lop in July and am wondering when I should start clipping.
+Nikki'sHamsters You can look at the nails and see if they are getting long, I don't think there is a age minimum
Okay, thank you!
Thanks for the tips I really need to cut my rabbits nails :)
savannah d I hope it works out!

I LOVE THE VIDEO IT'S REALLY HELP FULL but can you make a video on how to take care a baby rabbit because I'm about to adopt one and it's a baby
I wrap my bunny in a blanket she hates her nailes getting trimmed and scratches and kicks. I give her extra love and kisses after I hate doing her nails I feel so bad but she fights me.
My rabbits never scratched me and his nails is not too long
Ive never clipped my rabbits nails theyre grown like 11 yrs.
I find it really hard to clip my rabbits nails because he doesn't like being held. What do I do?
BunBun Shed101 you could try having him on a table and have one person hold him down then another try to clip the nails? Yes it is very hard. =(
StormyRabbits thanks so much for helping.
Can you use scissors on your rabbit's mouth
I might be getting a rabbit soon I clip my dogs nails (she's a brat) my cats they bite I think I'll do fine lol 🙃
If you have a super skittish rabbit put a blanket over it’s head so it can’t see and it calms them down
I never did it and I’m scared
Can you use human nail clippers?
If you wet his feet with water before cutting his nails it is easier to see what your doing if you're scared you're going to cut him
Sierra hut Thanks! I forgot to say that in the video =P
Oh by the way. I have changed my name because I'm doling a hampster care channel.
Guess the hamsters never made it.

Again, you skipped the dewclaw clipping! WE NEED TO SEE THAT!!! UGH!!!
I used human nail clippers. lol
“A rabbits nails should be clipped every 2-3 months”.... Yikes, that’s false information. Try every 3-4 weeks instead.
U copied Lennon the bunny ;-;
