Finally! Our bunnies aren't the only ones! We are still settling them since rescuing them and Bailey is a nightmare to be caught. She has a good thump on her so is difficult to get hold of or keep still. Sooty is not as bad to catch and she is getting used to brushing but nails are still a challenge. I think we've managed her back feet but not front yet. Early days... but I will be trying your methods, thank you!! Xxx

Omg thank you for this…my last bun was an absolute SAINT with nail clippings & my newest one is so freaked out by being picked up I can’t seem to properly groom her! I’ll give the bunny burrito a go, again thank you for showing the REAL struggle 🤣

Lucky me I have the sweetest little boy. Finley doesn't like being picked up but once I have him in my arms he is calm and allows his nails to be trimmed. This video was stressful to me I can only imagine what your bunny felt. What about a treat before picking them up?
Thanks this is at least relatable for a difficult bunny that I'm trying to medicate. So many videos don't illustrate what it's really like with difficult buns
Lol.i love that you show real on your channel either catching bun ha ha! So true to life. Loved the sound effects when your trying to grab her. The carrier was a good idea. Brilliant as always. People! Please! Please DO NOT, repeat DO NOT chase and grab your bunny as illustrated in the video. This poor rabbit was running for her life! She jumped out of the person's hands and landed on the edge of the litter box. Then she jumped off the bed and had to endure another terrifying pursuit on the floor. A rabbit who doesn't like being picked up, held or chased is not being "naughty" or "bad’ or “a troublemaker”, she's being a rabbit. As others have commented, please reach out to a reputable rabbit group for proper rabbit handling techniques. One such technique is to teach your rabbit to walk into a carrier by giving her treats (bribery) and other non-threatening methods. Once the rabbit is in the carrier, she can be safely transported to a table where you can clip her nails or medicate her. Please do not chase and grab your rabbit. Please view the following video for a more humane method of handling your rabbit - th-cam.com/video/ZN9JlKoGp-I/w-d-xo.html
So I absolutely understand this comment, I would like a little more constructive advice though. I have a beautiful bun, he loves his neck rubs and pats, he loves to sit with me (on the floor), but he refuses to be confined. I have tried all of the gentle handling tips, but I can not calmly get him to a position where I can clip his nails. Please can someone show us how to safely do this for a super squirmy bun? Fear of upsetting or hurting him or making him scared of me (because of comments like this) has led to an equally unhealthy situation which is that he has very long claws. Please help those of us out who want to do the right thing 🙏🏻
Omg did she jump off the table. Talk about being a handful. My bunny is super squirmy. I usually enlist help with clipping his nails but I want to try it by myself. The vet did it once but he’s usually too scared to put up a fight at the vets
Oh my. It is a miracle that this rabbit wasn’t injured. These are fragile PREY animals, they should never be chased and grabbed. No wonder this rabbit was terrified. Is this the way all of the interactions go? One needs to understand rabbits before interacting with them and then employ the calmest, gentlest techniques that work for THAT individual rabbit. It’s never “one size fits all”. . I hope that people watching this video do not think that this is usual or appropriate handling/way to interact, because it’s not. Reach out to a well established rabbit rescue organization where people with experience can better advise you.
You contradict yourself in your own statement. She is finding ways to take care of her rabbit. Most of them are like this, not calm or easy to hold to provide care. Get a life. 😅
It’s true you shouldn’t chase bunnies but it’s also true that most refuse to. E picked up and have their nails clipped. My large bunny is extremely easy going and friendly but won’t let anyone pick her up or clip her nails. I take her to an exotic vet to have them clipped but they have a hard time too. I think it’s very hard with some rabbits and being judgy seems ridiculous.
@@iz2093 hi. You didn’t ask me, but just my humble opinion, a rabbit that is that scared needs to go to a vet for trims. That way, nothing “bad/scary” happens to them in their own home. That’s how we deal with our bunnies, but I’m sure others may disagree.
Hopefully her chasing wasn't all at once, that would create major stress for a bub. The burrito technique wasn't snug enough. It needs to go under the chin and over the paws then swaddled very snug, not tight. But snug enough they can't struggle. That keeps the stress down. If they're allowed to flail around that creates more stress for them.
My Netherland dwarf is free roam has lots of attention aswell as personal space, I think I’ve been able to pick him up a couple times in the 4 years we’ve had him but for no longer than 10 seconds until he wriggles away. No way to pick him up unless he’s caught off guard and I’m very quick/determined. I feel aweful because his nails are so long and I’m worried they could hurt him I’m thinking of taking him to the vet for nail trim as he just won’t let me do it and they tend to freeze with strangers in new environments. Never thought a rabbit would cause me this much trouble.
I'm sorry you are having so much trouble picking him up. You are not alone! I would definitely recommend taking to the vet for the clipping. I would if I didn't have my mom to help. What is your bunny's name? That is awesome that he is free roam. I bet you see lots of binkies!
Thank you so much! And I thought my bunny has a temper 🤣 It was hilarious to watch and yet very educational. 9/10 times I can't catch my Sandy as well but she doesn't scratch us... yet 😬 We're gonna have to clip her nails for the first time and I'm a bit nervous. My previos bun was super cuddly and we had no problems but this one is a toughie. So good I happened to see your video on my news feed 😊
