Hi Kayleigh: You have put together a very good overview of the Voynich problem, and much of what you write reflects the mainstream understanding of it. Unfortunately, much of what we find on the internet, and from major websites and blogs, is rife with errors. Therefore I wouldn't blame anyone for not realizing these errors. But I do want to point a couple of them out, because they do go the specific points which you, and many others, use to come to the conclusions the Voynich must be old, and genuine. "Thankfully, the carbon dating of the parchment ruled out any possibility of the manuscript being a forgery, as it is very unbelievable that the unused pages from one single source created from fourteen calfskin could have survived from the fourteen hundreds". First of all, the tests did not show that they were "from one single source". The five samples tested actually showed a range of 50 to 60 years, up to much longer a time frame. The 1404-1438 results you cite are actually after these varied results were averaged together, on the ASSUMPTION the Voynich would have been made in a shorter time frame than the results actually showed. In other words, the preconception that the work must have been made in a short time, from "one single source" was used to produce a result which backed up that preconception. Yes the parchment is all from "about" the late 14th through mid 15th centuries. Now as for "surviving" from the fourteen hundreds, why not? Much blank parchment has survived from all eras. And, in fact, Wilfrid Voynich was perfectly placed, in 1908, to have come across a great deal of it: He purchased the Libreria Franceshini in Florence Italy, said (in a 1909 article by Helen Zimmern) to have upwards of half a million items of literature, from ancient scraps to modern playbills. In fact the son of the previous owner, Pietro Franceshini, was selling off much of the stock as scrap, for fish wrapping or whatever, before Wilfrid bought the place. - "The ink and paint used in the codex are for sure dating from the time period, and were created from materials expected from that time in central Europe". The ink and paint tests we have were performed by the McCrone Associates about 2009, and actually make no such claim. The ink/paint report only outlines what was found in these substances, and it has been other who have claimed what you have repeated. And in any case, it is possible to mix such inks and paints today, using Medieval formulas, making them indistinguishable from what was found. In fact, Sidney Reilly, an MI5 agent, and associate of the Voynich's (and one of the basis for James Bond), took a book out of the Cambridge Library on making Medieval inks. But one more point: Read the report yourself, and you will see it is not all so neat and tidy, even in the listing of substance found: They also found "unusual" copper and zinc, and a "titanium compound" (anyone remember the Vineland map issues?). There is more, but in short, the report does not exclude modern in at all. - "For a long time, people were suspicious of Wilfrid Voynich for creating the manuscript himself. Because he was an antique books dealer, he would have at least had the knowledge and materials to do so". Actually, nobody was suspicious of Wilfrid Voynich, at least no one in major research. Certainly nothing exists until the early 2000's, in print, which even remotely casts aspersions on him, or this work. Kennedy and Churchill, in their Voynich book, do have a chapter addressing the question, with no verdict. It is actually I who first brought this possible to the forefront, after critically examining all evidence and source materials relating to the manuscript, and the Voynichs. "... seem too sophisticated to be a hoax" (relating to the structure of the text). First of all, the results of statistical analyses, including the ones you outline, have not checked the results against written gibberish. There is evidence that glossolalia reflects language structure, and so this sophistication in the Voynich script may be another case of this. But also (and I often ask this) why? is it assumed that hoaxes (or forgeries, fakes, what have you) would be unsophisticated? Fakes often are. And also, why would they not have meaning? Many long, sophisticated fakes have had meaning, in fact. Think of the Hitler Diaries... the Morman letters... the Chittenden Manuscript... the plays of Chatterton, Young... and more. Many long works, meaningless and not, have been produced over the centuries, at great cost and effort, even when monetary return has not been sought, nor expected. And in fact, Voynich wanted over $100,000 for this work by about 1921, hoping for $150,000 or more. That is well over $1 million in today's dollars... which would pay for quite bit of effort and sophistication. Anyway, this is very long, but just the tip of the iceberg. Most of what people think they know about the Voynich is actually unfounded, and/or outright false. I call them "Modern Voynich Myths", and unfortunately they are persistent and pervasive, and stand squarely in the way of truly seeing the Voynich for what it is, whatever that is. I personally believe it is a circa 1908 to 1910 fake, by or for Wilfrid himself. For more info, visit my wordpress blog titled, "The 1910 Voynich Theory". All the best, Rich SantaColoma
Inspired by this book, I created a recipe for, *though unidentifiable as Lembas, (Tolkien's elf waybread), back in the 70', (my early teens). *One could not read it as it was gibberish calligraphy of my own making. The page was accompanied with an illustration of it and a strawberry plant. Lemon juice was toasted into it, coffee and a couple of blood stains and torn and cracked edges accented it. As a matter of course it was hardly close to this subject but it did fool the quite a number of people.
There is a video on TH-cam by some Turkish researchers who claim to be making progress in decoding it on the basis that it is is archaic Turkish, just a DIY alphabet.
I have a book of the manuscript. I find it fascinating. It's something I might produce if I was very very bored. It is probably just the musings of a madman or It's the secret of the universe or both.
Somebody really smart and well-educated found some really good mushrooms. They got inspired and decided to write down their discoveries. Probably the kind of stuff that would get you relieved of your head back in the day. Nobody can translate it unless they too are tripping balls on the same shrooms. It's a great safety mechanism.
Chris I’d look into it more just saying iv already figured out what this book is about and the language used is actually easily broken down I’d tell you want the book is about yet this is going on knowledge I think I should have never learned so I’m not willing to educate you on anything I don’t care if you believe me or not just letting you know it’s wrote by someone sober in clear thinking just the knowledge doesn’t need to be shared or should it ever be learned once you learn this kind of knowledge it changes your mindset permanently that’s why I’m not willing to share the knowledge I honestly wish I hadn’t learned what I learned and I’m not wishing it on anybody
I read a theory somewhere it is believed to be created by a young child named Leonardo DaVinci... Which is why it shows linguistic structure and fantastical pictures yet remains undecipherable.

Im wondering if the parts that had been touched up are actually errors now. Pre touch up it could be that it was possible to overlay certain pages and get actual words. The problem would be figuring out wich sections could be paired to together or should be. It could totally just be a dude that was losing his mind and decided to secure his research. But like everyone is assuming it is a language or a variation on a known language. I dabbled in language creation after my love of LOTR, I totally enjoyed making combination letter and phonetic ciphers. Where there was the written language, but common phonetic combos were done as well as a single letter to represent the multi letter combos. It goes agains common code breaking rules, but following the laws of language creation or the percieved ones of that time might help it. It could just be a dude making shit up that made sense to his addled brain, but the idea that someone was just fucking with his friends heads and intentionally went against every grain of knowledge makes me think reversing it is less about knowing the rules to crack the code and more about knowing those rules to know what it definitely isn't.
The best theory I have heard to date is that it was created to be realistic gibberish as a method of confusing and capturing troublesome demons. There are artifacts like that going back to Sumeria, inscribed bowls meant to trap demons. Nowadays it confuses & captures internet nerds.
Kayleigh, I’ve always been fascinated by the Voynich Manuscript…so glad that you made a video with detailed explanations &!known theories & speculations of each mysterious section… 📜📙☽🔮☾🕯🃏🌕🕸✨🍃🍄🧿🌙
A truly fascinating episode, as always, thank you! I bought the facsimile edition that was published a few years ago and have since perused it extensively many times. As many have said, it is a truly mesmerising work in that there are times when you feel you might almost make out bits of it, in particular some of the imagery. But then all notions seem to crumble to dust. I do love gazing at it, though. I can't help but feel that it was, in fact, created not as a joke but in all seriousness, but to what purpose? It is clear, though, that the costs involved in creating the book, in terms of materials, time, and what appears to be relative accuracy (there appear to be very few corrections!) would've been far too considerable for it to have all been done on a whim. It's a fascinating and frustrating mystery, but I love it. Cheers !
What about a philosophical exercise in meaning? - Create an utterly undecipherable book and see what people make of it, what they read into it etc. That is, a tool to decipher the impulses of readers, a "subjective impulse defining tool"
A really interesting video and probably the best I've seen on this topic. As a student of Chinese I was a bit confused at 9:38 where you display characters that appear similar to Chinese and then you mention "similar to Chinese Pin Yin" which is written in the roman alphabet. Throughout I really liked your illustrations of the script; it really gives a sense of the mystery surrounding the whole subject.
there have been lots of dead languages over the history of mankind. My guess is that it's written in a dead language that has little to no relationship with any current language. Occam's Razor. Either way, it's a really cool book and if it's ever translated would not likely change anything about what we currently understand about the world.
This makes sense... the more we discover and learn the more we realize how much we don't know... it could even be a not that old... in human terms, beautiful copy of a script someone gifted found and just copied as is because they felt compelled to do so. Funny how so many modern materialist dismiss ochams razor or versions of Sherlock Holme's philosophy... it's almost as if their intelligentsian minds are affronted by simplicity. They have lost, along the way not only wonder, but the concept that things can be simple yet also very complex. I believe somewhat recently folks have even glimpsed some order below 'chaos'... fascinating that.
This is at the very least a fantastic work of art. Even if created as a hoax it was a very expensive and elaborate endeavor that has tickled our minds for some time. Even if the true intent of the writer is never known I am sure they would be amazed at the attention their creation has gotten.
i saw just recently, a manuscript from the mesopotamian society, it also has links to keltic writings as well, it was introduced to this crowd, by your american counterpart
Great presentation, you are pleasant. I did some of my own "research" last night. On the evidence side, someone, never sourced by any presenter, there is the Carbon dating, and some protein study on the membranes. Someone whosie woosie checked on the paints, all consistent with somewhere around Roger Bacon to QE1. Smell test- near fail to fail. Then we follow Voynich and his wife. It's complicated but telling. She sounds like she was "handled" at one point in her teens. Oh and she is the daughter of Boole, as in Boolean logic. Better yet she slept with THE master spy on a long retreat in Italy(!) Reilly, the James Bond model. Voynich himself was a revolutionary who escaped Siberia and then became a rare book guy in NYC and London. He really missed books all those days in the Gulag, and made up for it. The only part of this silly affair I don't understand is why I'm reading about it now, and why was it so easy for me to do the "online research" to see through it? If I can see it, it's stupid, obvious, eh?
Thank you! I can always look into it and see if i find anything interesting, it might take a while before it'll be up on the channel since i have quite a stack of videos to create, but i will add it to the list ❤️
Thankiuu ! M'amm. Btw ? Tha manuscript have been decipher not to long ago by one electrician engeneer, and his son's. They have find this book was been written in Turkish phonetics. If ya ever wana have tha link to tha video of the deciphering i can look to find it for ya ! Srry for my poor english i'm french !
I say, it started as a children's book, with fanciful imagery, then evolved into a made up language to go with the images for whatever purpose - maybe to fool people, or get a rise out of people, or whatever. But it's ultimately gibberish.
In the Middle Ages books in general were rare and expensive, and an important work could be sold to a nobleman for a huge amount of money, so much so that it would be worth the work and time put into creating an intriguing forgery.
It old Turkish I believe. But in code. And probably was some ones reference for making a, if not the first, sci fi novel. This was the authors way of keeping the world as true to his world. But what do we know. I want it thought.
This manuscript has rocked my mind since the first time I heard about it and there’s too much effort put into everything in it to be a joke or a hoax. @@HistoryWithKayleigh I have quite a good copy of this. There are many hypotheses. I am interested in the hypothesis that it is written in an ancient Greek script, such as a derivation of Linear A or that it is an archaic Linear B script. There are also some interesting artistic similarities to Renaissance art by the likes of Botticelli, which would make sense given its date and origin.
Kayleigh, I was rewatching this episode, and began thinking about the 1513 Piri Reis Map. You think Antarctica really was exposed back then? Is it possible someone else visited a normally glaciated Land?

The "Venti" cypher, for example, uses one key string, and "adds" the key string to the message, and the closer to nonsense, the better the cypher. Much like you've defined. Thus, that is the definition of a good cyher. The longer the cypher key, the better. And, you can use more then one cypher key. So, they have diffrent lengthts, and thus, do not repeat the pattern, as quickly. Perhaps this "book" is not what people think it is.
I AM NO "Scholarly Expert" however I do have a background in cryptology and have actually followed this for many of my 60 years. I have NEVER thought of it as a "Manuscript" but as a collection of musical or chant compositions of the times. It is not meant to be read, but to be "Hummed", and THEN decyphered from certain words that would have been in each chant. It needs to be studied by "Musical Scholars" of the time to find the NOTE or TONE patterns that match know chants of the time... if that makes sense. lol
Think of it as writing or composing OUR current day music videos... Those patterns remind me of old ABBA videos or others from the 70's & 80's. lol. Now that you have the song in your head... hum it... then pick out certain words of each line and write a letter or blog using just THOSE words. It won't make any sense to anyone else... but it will to YOU. Now, write and illustrate your blog describing your drawings or ideas with those words as well... Best way to explain it. A person that knows some of the same songs you are humming will be able to pick out those same words based on the MUSIC patterns... not the rhythm.
As a stroke patient I would hardly call the results of my migraines as a "trance like state." Still it's good too see a beautiful young woman who's also incredibly smart - besides my nieces of course.
I have migraines, they're quite debilitating and they do put me in a state where my brain kinda shuts off it's normal functions. I often state into the abyss according to people around me when I'm going through it as i don't have the brainpower to control my eye movement during an attack
A study at Brazilian and German universities about 2 years ago concluded it's a real language and not just gibberish. They've created a program to analyze the frequency and organization of words in natural languages, and the language on the Voynich manuscript matches those patterns (Probing the Statistical Properties of Unknown texts: application to the Voynich Manuscript).
I found the Gujarati/Hindi etc. hypothesis the most interesting. I can't find the link again though. But in some postings below someone else took it up as well. The guy from the Indus valley claims that he knows this type of language from villages around his place, where he lives. But it is written in a different alphabet/symbol set. Not what was traditionally used for that language, and there is some mixture. He wrote a couple of sentences that sounded reasonable. The content is an almanach or encyclopedia or life hack compendium, that was written for educational purpose, to teach the son of a rich family, practically a prince. So that he should have superior knowledge to his peers. It was not meant to be understood by anyone else, therefor some level of obfuscation was introduced in its construction. So the other question is, what was the contact, what did these people know about European cultures? Perhaps a lot, not unlikely.
I've heard a theory that the various images of women bathing in pools are symbolic representations of human internal anatomy and would seem to make sense in the context of it being a ciphered medical codex. We also have a modern example of that exact sort of thing in: "Incredible Body: Stephen Biesty's Cross-Sections"

The only fact I heard was that some or all the plants were pieced together using other plant parts to appear as a new or unknown spp.. Using this as a starting place logic says the writings were also made up.
Counter argument: the art is terrible. No really. Whoever drew the illustrations was not particularly skilled at art of people or any other living thing. their geometric shapes were decent though. What does this say about the drawings of plants? Well, quality of work is SUPER important in terms of having art be identifiable. Case in point.... me and several friends and family played a game where the players drew things and the others tried guessing what they were. In one case, my prompt was to draw a kitten... and my sister guessed that I'd drawn a Chupacabra. Why? because I'm really not that good.
Very interesting, some info I never heard before and I've been studying this manuscript for a couple of years. I also made a contribution on this subject. I just got the copyright on the mail on a book entitled "Voynich Unveiled, A Guide To Decoding The Symbols", it's not published as of yet, but hopefully soon.
Thank you so much! I planning to cover ancient sites from India and Sri Lanka in the future, i grew up next to a Sri Lankan Family and i feel a strong connection to the country. I will of course ask them to help me with some pronunciations haha. But that will take a while for as long as Covid will reign over us 💕
@@HistoryWithKayleigh awesome I can’t wait. My parents are from Fiji, but there parents were from southern India and Sri Lanka and brought over by the Brits to work suger cane. I’m fascinated by ancient India and the civilizations that were their before. I can’t wait to hear your take on things. 😎
I don’t believe it’s impossible to solve but perhaps it’s improbable. However if the letters and sentences were put in reverse maybe something of greater value can come of it. But it’s probably been accomplished to no avail. Great videos!
I have this as a coffee table book. It's fascinating. The plants have an uncanny valley-like appearance and the details of the leaves actually look like cells through a microscope. I believe it is not a hoax, and it actually meant something to the person/group. Also, green pregnant lady zodiac water is so tasty! :P
I believe it is a fake and I believe I know who man it and why. I've written to the US national security agency and I'm just waiting to hear back. It was way too expensive for one person, king or not, too have it created. I believe I know who funded it and why and who they paid to create it and where. Only a very specific type of person would have all the plant knowledge contained within. Well odd abstract forms of those plants anyway. Such as opuim poppies. Combined with plant images from Italy. I believe the catholic church funded the work and it was Mariano Taccalo whom was paid to make it. Taccalo worked for the Vatican, was a banker, a teacher, an engineer. Everything da Vinci is credited with creating da Vinci copiedfrom Taccalo's unpublished manuscripts. Everything. Leonardo da Vinci was no genius. He was a plagiarist. We know this because A) Leonardo couldn't finish anything because he didn't know how B) because Taccalo was a two time published author which predates Leonardo's birth. C) he was the student of Taccalo's best friend and who Taccalo left his manuscripts to do Leonardo would have had access to them. The art work matches that of Taccalo's perfectly. D) Leonardo tools is he copied Taccalo's work in his codex. Anyway, I believe the catholic church patroned Taccalo to make it for Rudolph's father. The church, at the time, took massive bribes from people to be included into the holy Roman empire. But they couldn't be seen taking bribes. So a great majority of kings, tzars, etc would give gifts to the church. For examine the Arabs have them the spear of destiny to kill the rightful heir to the throne. The Catholics did. I believe the book was made for Rudolph's father to buy. Then when Rudolph the second was to be coronated holy Roman emperor he was to return the manuscript back to the church. Except Rudolph 2nd wasn't didn't have a public coronation by the pope. Due to war and disease he was just coronated on paper. The big spectacular never happened. These types of gifts/ bribes were a matter of routine by the church. That would also explain why there are poppy plants shown next to passion flowers and why the white alpine elderweiss is shown next to the very creepy Italian romanesco natalino broccoli. This also explains why the building shown in the manuscript only existed at that time in Northern Italy. Which is exactly where Taccalo lived and exactly what he lived in.

Reminds me of an article I read about an algorithm that uses existant, known ciphers to determine the probability of an uncracked code being a real cipher or just made up to look like a real cipher. The article was in reference to the Zodiac killer's uncracked letters - and big surprise - his first, already deciphered letter came off as genuine while his undeciphered ones were heavily leaning towards gibberish - which totally tracks considering it took a couple of hobbyists less than a week to figure out his first one.
I wonder...if the people suspected of having anything to do with this book have projects of their own, shouldn't someone just compare their handwriting? The technology and experts these days shouldn't have a problem doing that. Even if the writer could write with both hands (like da Vinci) it would be noticed one way or another. There must be countless works from all these historical "academics" to choose and compare with this book instead of just trying to crack the code. What also baffles me is the incredible amount of time and meticulous effort of detailing that has been put into creating this book. All that work just for a hoax seems to be a bit much for me. Back in those times the colors and other materials for this book would have cost a lot of money. Some poor dude wouldn't have been able to create this. He/she wouldn't have had the time in the first place due to all the time they'd need just for food on the table and a roof over their head. Rich people on the other hand would have the means but also a lot of responsibilities that take up their time. Plus, the rich usually have servants and other folks constantly fussing over them. They usually had too much public attention. Whoever made this might not even be just one person. If two people did this ( or more) they could easily spread the time, effort, and costs among them. One person writes, the other two get the resources and maybe contribute ideas as well. I don't know. Just spitballing here.
I wonder if they have tried an AI translator, they are apparently doing incredible work. It is not so much the quantity of knowledge but the speed of its availability and the speed of comparisons. It may report it is no language at all.
I have wondered if this wasn't the work of someone who was very autistic, and who wanted to create their own world, similar to JRR Tolkien. I think that this is a masterwork and probably took years of planning and revising, but I don't think it was ever meant for public consumption, which is why the cover is not original to the book. I've played fantasy games like Dungeons and Dragons with people on the spectrum, and this looks like the work that they do when they're building a world to play the game in. Drawing new plants, explaining how magic and mechanics work in the world they've built, and developing writing systems are all things I've seen people do, and the people who have ASD tend to be the ones who take it the farthest. I can't say for certain, I just know that this kind of dossier looks familiar to me.
You were able to present the manuscript and it’s history without adding your own interpretations or theories. In this day and age that is quite a feat. All I can say is BRAVO!
The language is largely Bengali with vocabulary from Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi. The authors were probably illiterate in Bengali script, so they devised their own unique script. I used transliterations suggested by Stephen Bax and Derek Vogt. The two most common words in the book, TUWIR and CHASH are tuber and cultivation respectively.
Another possibility is that it translates into English, I believe it's based around an Empirical system, of observation and experience. There are clues hidden in plain sight. For example on page 4, if you follow from the page number straight down along the right side, on the petal is the letter "F". Which is a hint that the symbol '4' translates into the letter "F". There are many more clues like this one, you just have to look for them.
I'll try and do my absolute best ❤️ Is it bad for you in every video or just this one? 🤗 So i know what to look out for, i always want to improve and get better 🥰
Excellent report, Kayleigh. I have seen numerous documentaries on this topic. And come to the following conclusion in all seriousness; this is not a joke. This document was created by an extremely intelligent and creative teenager from a wealthy family; who was exercising their flights of fantasy, and was dyslexic and on the Asperger Spectrum. Thereby creating their own language and fantastical world. The only person who will ever know what this manuscript means is the author.
I doubt if it's been written in an unknown language. Years ago I saw a documentary which claimed that it's just random letters. And they showed how a document full of random letters could be constructed in the 15th century. So it's pretty much meaningless although for what purpose it was written I would have no idea.
Indus valley civilization's script on the inscription has remained indecipherable for more than 5000 years. Is there any update of research being done to decipher the script - are they just few random symbols without carrying any significant meaning as such or are the puzzle scripts part of a language system of that period viz Indus valley civilization or Harappan culture?
Considering the enormous expense and time/work to create this book hundreds of years ago, I think it might be genuine, along with the information it contains.
Rudolf II was a benefactor to many artists, this might be just fake to obtain money, however, successful translation would prove otherwise The Emperor Rudolf II of Austria (1552-1612) was born on July 18, 1552 as the eldest son of Maximilian II. He became King of Bohemia in 1575 and was made Emperor in 1576. In 1583, he moved the imperial court to Prague and proceeded to transform Prague into a city filled with astronomers, alchemists, artists, craftsmen, and humanists. He was fascinated with any sort of new knowledge, whether it was in science or the occult. He gathered an enormous collection of art, including (among many others) the works of Bosch and Arcimboldo, and filled the castle with a menagerie of exotic animals. There is also a popular story about Emperor and Golem.
I believe I know who created this manuscript and why. I have applied to the US national security agency for validation of my theory. At the moment there is a British professor whom believes he has solved the manuscript which, if correct, completely his against my theory. I'm waiting for the testing of the pigments on me than 5 documents to complete to know one way or the other. My hypothesis is that is a fake and made for a very specific reason by a very specific group. He claims it's a book about bathing unruly children written in a proto romance language. We shall see if either our both are more close to being correct
You're wrong, my uncle who is a professor, linguist and proficient in cryptography was invited along with a colleague to look at the book in the 90's, he spent about an hour with a book and immediately proclaimed it to be fake, he was actually offended that people believed this was a real manuscript and stated that the University is using the manuscript to gain recognition and money. He states the reason for the books creation is clearly for profit, this book was made at the time of when alchemists and magicians were admired and believed as true by the masses and even educated Kings and Queens, many nobles paid a lot of money to buy books like these, hoping to find cures for diseases or to make elixirs of life or even fins the way to immortality. No wonder early records show that the book was sold for more than 600 ducats or 2KG of gold (about 100k in today's money). For the author the goal was to create a book that can pas scrutiny among the wealthy like nobility, that's why great effort was put to make it look valuable, next step was to illustrate things that would interest the buyer, in this case some mysterious plants and occult drawings. The author probably initially wanted to actually write some bull but it would be hard to pass Scientific scrutiny, so he wrote some repeating characters in the guise that it's somehow cryptic and secretive, making it even more fascinating for the buyer, since he's thinking the information has worth and if you crack the code immortality or other fantasy awaits.
@@mackjeez I agree that it is a fake. I too am a professor. I have two PhD's and a JD. With that said however, I'd disagree as to why it was created and by whom. The people who paid to create the book didn't need 100k. It would have cost a handsome price to create. They wouldn't have created it to profit, but to save face. We'll see. There is only one place on earth that used page numbers in that time and there is only one place on earth that even today have the greatest number of scientists and doctors that would be knowledgeable in plants from all over the globe at that time. There is only one place on earth that used those types of curtain walls at that time. All which brings me to one group whom had a twice published genius in their employ. The man was such a genius Leonardo da Vinci plagiarized his manuscripts.
@@phillipstroll7385 The materials to make the book were fairly commonplace and although expensive in terms of book materials they weren't a rarity that required a lot of wealth to produce in comparison to the sale price of the book, remember the book sold for more than 100k in today's gold worth, like I stated the purpose to use those materials was to make the book look important. Honestly the second part of your comment is a bit out place and I can't clearly understand what you mean or suggest, did you use some sort of google translate software? Because I can't comprehend it.

Nowadays it confuses & captures internet nerds.

how do you know if the pictures are related to the texts? they might not be related.
you didn't mention Bax's work that decoded the phonetic value of a few of the glyphs based on identified constellations and plants.
Cheers !
You mention "very few corrections"-- perhaps it was a hand-reproduced copy of an earlier work.
Awesome. I like the pacing! Great research. Thanks for your work - keep it up!
I guess I would recommend you watch this video in response to this manuscript:
The Occult Is Everywhere | Hamza Yusuf
there have been lots of dead languages over the history of mankind. My guess is that it's written in a dead language that has little to no relationship with any current language. Occam's Razor. Either way, it's a really cool book and if it's ever translated would not likely change anything about what we currently understand about the world.
Occam's Razor. You could not be more stupid, concise and succinct.
Agreed 🥰
That occurred to me as well, the person that created it might have just wanted to do art and there is no meaning beyond that.
i saw just recently, a manuscript from the mesopotamian society, it also has links to keltic writings as well, it was introduced to this crowd, by your american counterpart

funny i saw the book once at your sisters house, she gave a copy as a present to her partner i remember.
Good video Kayleigh👍👍🌞

I say, it started as a children's book, with fanciful imagery, then evolved into a made up language to go with the images for whatever purpose - maybe to fool people, or get a rise out of people, or whatever. But it's ultimately gibberish.
In the Middle Ages books in general were rare and expensive, and an important work could be sold to a nobleman for a huge amount of money, so much so that it would be worth the work and time put into creating an intriguing forgery.

Very interesting and fun video. Still catching up on your videos. Thank you. Stay well. Peace to you🌺🌻
The writing needs to turn into a voice or a spoke sound. So each word has a pattern that flows like a language.
Excellent, I didn't realise there was so many ideas about it, or the most modern one who claims to have deciphered a few pages! interesting, Thank you
I AM NO "Scholarly Expert" however I do have a background in cryptology and have actually followed this for many of my 60 years.

For of one like what I'm hearing ty my beautiful spirit sister very interesting information ya 🌳🌱❤3

You are wonderful !! Love the bloopers especially!!❤️❤️❤️

Nope haha, many claim to have solved it but all fall short when they get researched 🙂

Nope haha, any claims but none have been verified beyond a doubt

We know this because A) Leonardo couldn't finish anything because he didn't know how
B) because Taccalo was a two time published author which predates Leonardo's birth.

Seems like you may be on to something, best of luck!
@@phillipstroll7385 Thank you for your comment! I too guessed the church, but mainly due to the "resources to devote" aspect. The rest of your answer is fascinating, and I'm going to have fun learning more about Taccalo.
Do you think it is a Alchemical text?
It might be 🤗
You do a fantastic job!
Please continue in your presentation!
I hold a belief we are not getting better or smarter and that Primitive Man had skills that are yet to be known or explained or understood!
I seem to be in a minority on that note

As a fiction writer who loves to base my stories on historical mysteries, this is totally my kind of things! Loved this video, you really explained everything in enough details, without ever being boring or repetitive. Thank you!
Thank you so much ☺️ i always try to make the videos as bitesized as possible, it's a bit difficult sometimes but I'm glad you enjoyed it without being bored 🥰

@@HistoryWithKayleigh - Dont be obsessed with short video's Some of us like a 30 minute or 1 hour in-depth look at something... !!!
Its being deciphered now, they have completed one page so far.
Turns out a lot of the writing is Turkish.
I'm not sure, if they translate a page it would absolutely be world news

Reminds me of an article I read about an algorithm that uses existant, known ciphers to determine the probability of an uncracked code being a real cipher or just made up to look like a real cipher.
The article was in reference to the Zodiac killer's uncracked letters - and big surprise - his first, already deciphered letter came off as genuine while his undeciphered ones were heavily leaning towards gibberish - which totally tracks considering it took a couple of hobbyists less than a week to figure out his first one.
Crystal skulls status ..imo
I enjoy history. Nice channel
Thanks 🙂
I wonder if they have tried an AI translator, they are apparently doing incredible work. It is not so much the quantity of knowledge but the speed of its availability and the speed of comparisons. It may report it is no language at all.
i am betting it's the class notes of a 12 year old school girl written in shorthand..
Good job... Interesting topic.
Thank you James 🤗

So glad you did this one!
You were able to present the manuscript and it’s history without adding your own interpretations or theories. In this day and age that is quite a feat. All I can say is BRAVO!
Thank you 🙂
I was waiting for the ancient astronaut or middle earth theories but was pleasantly surprised you didn’t go there.👍
The language is largely Bengali with vocabulary from Hindi, Gujarati and Marathi. The authors were probably illiterate in Bengali script, so they devised their own unique script. I used transliterations suggested by Stephen Bax and Derek Vogt. The two most common words in the book, TUWIR and CHASH are tuber and cultivation respectively.
I have published articles on The Voynich Manuscript at Linkedin and academia.edu
Please increase / improve the audio on future videos. Thank you 😀
I'll try and do my absolute best ❤️
Is it bad for you in every video or just this one? 🤗

Very interesting summary. I love the outtakes at the end. 🙂
Thank you 🤗
Excellent report, Kayleigh.
The only person who will ever know what this manuscript means is the author.
i heard that that book is about planting flowers there is a university that studied it and even shows the real plants to match the drawings
I dont usually drop a comment, just wanted to say you have done amazing job with this chanell.

@@HistoryWithKayleigh Very much, thank you for addressing this subject.

Considering the enormous expense and time/work to create this book hundreds of years ago, I think it might be genuine, along with the information it contains.
Rudolf II was a benefactor to many artists, this might be just fake to obtain money, however, successful translation would prove otherwise
The Emperor Rudolf II of Austria (1552-1612) was born on July 18, 1552 as the eldest son of Maximilian II.
@@phillipstroll7385
The materials to make the book were fairly commonplace and although expensive in terms of book materials they weren't a rarity that required a lot of wealth to produce in comparison to the sale price of the book, remember the book sold for more than 100k in today's gold worth, like I stated the purpose to use those materials was to make the book look important. Honestly the second part of your comment is a bit out place and I can't clearly understand what you mean or suggest, did you use some sort of google translate software? Because I can't comprehend it.
