  • I recently got a first-hand look at a Voss 989 Moto V Helmet, thanks to Goofy Bastard. I was impressed by the fit, finish, and lightweight feel of this helmet and decided to take advantage of a Labor Day Sale and purchase one.
    This is my First Impressions Review of the Voss 989 Moto V Helmet.

    Great helmets. The pinlock makes BC winters a piece of cake.

    The tab on the visor is something I don't really like about my Shoei. There's a button that has to be pushed to release it, which makes it cumbersome to open at times. This looks pretty cool, I might look into their modular one, seems pretty cool.

      I saw that on the Shoei and wondered how practical it was - especially if you have a GoPro Mounted on the Chin Bar.

      @@WaltInPA It is something that takes a bit to get used to.

    The noise was definitely my biggest con to the Voss 989. I totally agree with you that it seems like the noise is coming from the vents, especially the top vents. Hopefully with their next generation helmet they’ll address these issues. It definitely looks good on you!!! Thanks for the plug!!! Appreciate it!!!

      If I'm being honest, I think your white helmet looks better but I'm happy with the Voss. I've actually been using it more than my HCJ (the Voss is so light - it is an amazing difference)

      @@markcasco9468 I have heard that they are releasing a new one…just not exactly sure when.

    Black helmets tend to get really hot compared to white helmets.
    Also a face mask would help a little with the noise.

      In hindsight, I wish I would have ordered a White Helmet (less heat did't even cross my mind but it is a nice added benefit).
      I'll try a face mask when it gets a bit cooler in the fall.
      Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

      Jikes.. I just ordered a black one, and this did not occur to me as I am not even a rider yet. Haha.. just emailed them to switch designs. Thanks man!

    My icon helmet has the tab in the front, but the visor also covers the whole front so it makes sense. I wish companies would really figure out how to make helmets quieter. It can't be that hard in 2022 to do that.

      I'm convinced that the noise is a result of the venting system. If all the vents are closed it isn't bad at all but I like having a little airflow even when the temps are cool.

    Appreciate the review… you have my jacket and my bike style choice… figure I’ll try 3 for 3!

    It looks cool, it's a shame it's loud. I'm starting to think only HJC gets the visor tabs right

    • @WaltInPA
      @WaltInPA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, not having ambidextrous tabs is definitely a difficult change when you are used to them.

    I got this helmet, but I am very confused as the website says "Voss DryTech removable moisture-wicking comfort liner" - but I cannot find how to remove the liner from the outer rim of the helmet.. so I just managed to kinda let it "hang" outside.. any tips? Can't see how I am supposed to wash it if it cannot be completely separated from the helmet...

    Looks like a great helmet! Those ear plugs will just come in more handy now :D They ought to cut down on the wind noise - if not, use some gaffer's tape inside, maybe?

    • @WaltInPA
      @WaltInPA  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've been using the earplugs every time I ride. Even with my quieter HJC F70 they make riding so much more comfortable.

      I've been riding with the new Voss quite a bit lately and the noise isn't bothering me as much as it did early on (I guess I'm just getting used to it). It is a nice helmet.
