I rear ended a car 12 weeks and one day ago. Wrote the bike off unfortunately. My wife and I were almost injury free. No serious injuries thankfully. I but you are loving the bike now.

Got a question about repairs due to a vehicle accident. Just read your writeup. Wondering what you had to pay for out of pocket outside of the $85 overage? For example, the towing bill is that something you pay for but get reimbursed for with insurance?

      Hi,
The $85 was the only overage I had to pay out of pocket and I could probably submit paperwork to the insurance company to be reimbursed for that as well since it was part of the repair costs.
If you are having the vehicle towed to your home or a repair shop., the driver will most likely expect payment (that you'll submit to insurance for reimbursement). I had the bike towed to the tow companies facility where it was stored for the insurance adjuster to look at it - so the bill was given directly to the insurance company for payment.
The insteresting thing I learned was that all of the fees come out of the drivers insurance limits. So the towing, storage, repair estimate, and any other fees before the actual repair count against the coverage cap. In my case, the other driver only had $5,000 in coverage so I had to use my own insurance policy (and they go after the other driver for the difference).
