    Love my 2013 gen 1! And it gett's better gas milelage than my 2013 ford f-150 work truck! Granted, my work truck has the 5.0 coyotte , and get's 14.2 mpg. no matter what, and it's loaded to the max with my tools of the trade, ,,, My Raptor has gotten allmost 17 mpg on the interstate, averages 14.5 with the 6.2 v-8. So in real world driving,, not much differance. You don't buy a truck like this for the gas milelage, you do it for the "dream truck factor!" But!!!!! Took it on a trip to South Dakota from central Missouri last october, 802 miles, and got 15 mpg. Can't bitch much! Offroaded a bit, played a bit, very happy with it!

    So much you’ve said about gen2 to gen1 transition resonates with me, sold my gen2 two days ago and picking up gen1 next week, the mileage is fairly higher on the gen1, almost 200k kilometre, but I’m confident in the platform and super excited

      That's awesome man!! It's a completely different drive and when you hear that V8, you're gonna love it.

      @@DavidFigs v8 suits best the nature of the truck, power is just one part contributing to the overall experience, how it rides and sounds is the other major contributor, how do you like the gen1 suspension? I have watched your other videos on rebuilding the factory Fox shocks with TSW, loved that video 🔥what made you to use TSW for rebuilding shocks?

    • @DavidFigs
      @DavidFigs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well when I lived in Dallas they were the go to shop to get shocks rebuilt. They always sponsor events local too, and overall great experience. Highly recommend

      The gen 1 shocks vs the live valve is a huge difference. The best way I can describe it is, gen 1 shocks feels cloudy, floaty like a 'cadillac' . My plan is to go too 3.0s next year

    I love my Gen 1. It’s the analog Raptor compared to the digital Gen 2 Raptor.

      Great analogy

    I never considered the gen2. I just can't get over the sound. I'm really enjoying the Simplicity of the Gen 1. Part of the reason I bought a C7 ZO6 instead of a C6 is I really wanted modern technology such as adjustable suspension, steering and valved exhaust. Which is all great but there's something to be said to just get in the car, start it and drive it and not have anything to mess with. I find myself more relaxed and just enjoying the drive

    • @DavidFigs
      @DavidFigs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're spot on. There's something to be said for a truck built like this, that you can beat the wheels off of. As long as you maintain it well, they will last a very long time

      @@DavidFigs I have thought about supercharging it but whipple has a bit too loud of a supercharger whine for my taste. I wonder if there's a way for it not to be so loud, especially since I'm using the truck as multi-purpose currently. Do you know if that place in Texas were you took your truck have a lot of experience with the Whipple supercharger?

      Texas motorworx hands down. One of the best raptor shops in the country, in Dallas.

    I absolutely love my gen 1 only thing that sucks is that I live in Washington and there’s not that many open areas to take it . Besides that I’m just my first mod with the Corsa exhaust .

    • @DavidFigs
      @DavidFigs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's gotta be places up there. I know it's huge in the rally scene - probably some fun tracks to open the truck up.
      Corsa sounds amazing - the one I would've gone with if I didn't get my turn downs

    • @noemad26
      @noemad26 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DavidFigs Actually there’s a rally course right my my house but I’m not sure if they let you drive on their track . Most of the trails are narrow where it’s basically for Jeep’s but I’m still looking . I also wanted to ask have you done any engine upgrades ?

    • @DavidFigs
      @DavidFigs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh that's awesome, I'd definitely ask if you can. Yah there's a ton of Jeep trails here in Colorado too.

    I have watching almost every one of your videos on the gen 1. I’m selling my Laramie Longhorn ram overland build tomorrow and getting a gen 1 this coming week. I’ve been using your videos for tricks and ideas on them and I thank you for what you do! Not many clean gen 1 out there unless it’s got 100k in it

    • @DavidFigs
      @DavidFigs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your support man and badass!!! You're going to love it and you'll still be able to overland. I think once my daughters are older I'll transition the truck to a more overland build.
      Appreciate it, and early congrats on the gen 1!

    Is the consensus that the 6.2 V8 is more reliable than the V6? Is the 6.2 V8 considered tried and true at this point?

    • @DavidFigs
      @DavidFigs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the answer today is yes, because theres more 200k+ mile gen 1s than gen 2s.
      From a production standpoint there is way more gen 2s produced than gen 1s so time will tell. For me, the gen 1s were built to be bullet proof.

    • @myrongaines5542
      @myrongaines5542 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can't go wrong with any in my opinion, all comes down to your goals with the truck and/or if it's a pure daily.
      I've heard from friends who have had all of them that the 37 package gen 3 is by far the best iteration

    Gen 2 until I die. It just looks so bad badass. As for the sound it's honestly fine but if loud noise is what you must have then go with the V8. Hey if I could afford to have both I would.

    Good times Offroad,, I originally got my 12 SVT Raptor new, for work. Now it is my hunting and overland camping rig. In 18 we drove to lagoons hills, California to RPG, they bolted up their awesome rear bumper, dove tailed the rear panels. I also got the frame stiffener with rear bump stop kit. I also bolted up the forged Offroad front bump stop kit - bolts directly to the frame and bash plate on lower control arm. Have fun go Offroad

    Love my Gen 1 2010 6.2 V8. That's the one I wanted since 2010, and that's the one I got. All Raptors are awesome, but I prefer the Gen 1 because of the body style.❤️‍🔥
    I subscribed because you are featuring the Gen 1. Not many people feature these because they prefer the Gen 2/Gen 3 Raptors. I am a die hard SVT fan, so that's why I try and support my fellow Gen 1 people.
