Thanks! I appreciate how much you have supported my work. I think you will enjoy the new 620, i find it performs better all around compared to the old build. Swapping the high jet will gain a few hundred rpm more in the cut but it isnt necessary, thr limited jet gives a nice bit of insurance too.
If someone removed the new cylinder off of their CS-620P & sent it to someone like you, what would be the approximate cost of having a port job like this done?
@Super-Dave-Outdoors I think that I want to run it for a while and see where it lands. I will do some comparing once it has some fuel through it and then I will likely start playing around. For example, the non limited carb may be pulled off of the first saw and this one may land on that one. I will likely be opening the other saws muffler up a bit as well. You deserve it and I appreciate you working with me too Dave! I am excited to see where you go in all of this!
Dave has those 620's dialed. There's a 100 ways to mod the muffler and they all work. If you find yours too loud, it's an easy fix. Use the screen as a template to make a piece of sheet metal with a 5/8-3/4 hole in and put the hole towards the motor side/back of the deflector so you cant see straight through the muffler to the port. I put 3 tanks through my 590 before doing the muffler mod/retune, it ran totally fine stock but has more snap and power now. I'll likely port it over the holidays, it's an echo, who needs warranty lol.
You can get as much power from a 590 cylinder as a 620 cylinder. You just have to grind them a lot more. Probably got them dialed in by accident, i think on a 620 cylinder the numbers arent very far from stock after i am finished. They just work really well there with a few things done differently.
@@Super-Dave-Outdoors I'm going to aim for 124-126 on the uppers and 106-108 on the exhaust with stock intake and lower transfers. @@oakiewoodsman It's the straight shot from the port to the opening that gives them the harsh tone. I did mine different so it's not too loud but it likely has a touch less hp because of it. 20:18 I would assume the main reason for the course threads is because the bolts are going into a softer metal like aluminum, Fine threads are easier to strip out in softer metals because you can more easily over torque them.

I know there are improvements and kits to upgrade the 620 air filter but went with the 7310p. Not fun holding it up with a 32” bar to do face cuts but other than that it’s a great saw. They run better after a few tanks. The minor complaints I have for the 7310 are 1 doesn’t fit in saw case, 2 don’t trust the decomp ( looks dirty) 3 I have accidentally bumped the kill switch rotating my hand (the 680 is on the right side of handle (7310 is on left where 680 manual oiler is)). Looking forward to seeing your 7310 wake up and ported. Your 620s sound good.
I really appreciate you taking the time to share all of this information with us. Yes, the metal toggle is robust but VERY easily bumped. It should last the lifetime of the saw (or operator) but again, especially with gloves, it is going to get bumbed. Glad to hear that your 7310 is doing well also that it improved running after some usage. It is amazing how much fuel you have to run through the ECHO saws in order for them to break in. Excellent video. Watching the disassembly and reassembly of this 620P, it occurred to me how feasible it would be to make a replacement with the cylinder and piston kit from this saw for an old Shindaiwa 577p. Their constructions and parts are very similar and it seemed to me that the 620 is "inspired" by the 577.
Immediately voiding warranties is just part of it lol! That is sure a bummer about that shop closing up. Nice to have a dealer that is realistic about what is going on. I like your analysis of the different saws. The interesting thing here is the Husqvarna while being arguably the nicest to run is NOT the most expensive. Super cool!
on the cylinder base gasket it almost looks like they out some sort of sealer on the gasket to hold it in place. I honestly didn't think they would add anything to it from the factory.
I don't know if I missed it but you need to do the carb mod as well. There is 2 ways to do it, either jb weld or by the part and replace the little cap that has a breather to it. Its basically like a governor and limits your rpms. Edit lol... I just heard you acknowledge that you didn't do it. Anyways great video
Thank you much! I am going to try it for while without it. One of the best builders of these saws (Charles Briscoe) does not mess with the limited H Jet. I specd that on my first build that Dave did for me so we will see. Thank you again!
On my farm I keep a cs 590 in my sxs, it's just an awesome dependable go to saw. Fun to watch you run all the different stuff on here. I have the first year 575XP I bought new in 05, that saw has been a good unit and is still just as strong as the day I bought it. I'm not a brand guy, I like them all if they spin a chain through a log.

Awesome, I loved seeing the actual work on the cylinder swap. I didn’t know the 7310 has the Stihl tensioner either lol. Where do you buy the 8mm to 9mm pipe for D176 to D009 adapters?
I think Dave got the pipe online. I had looked it up at some point and it seemed pretty easy to locate. I think the most difficult thing is cutting it. Thank you Mark!
Novice Lumberjack just released a video today on an upgraded air cleaner setup that's soon to be released. Locktite on the bolts may or may not work due to the engine heat. Traverse Creek has videos for mods to the Echo including an aftermarket deflector and an air cleaner fines reducing kit. Thanks for the video.
@@oakiewoodsman Loctite is anaerobic, dries in the lack of air. You use heat to melt it to loosen the fastener. Vibra-TITE 19960 Hot-Lock Extreme High Temperature Threadlocker, Translucent may work, I have no experience with it. Did you have a problem with them coming loose?
Is it for looks or some other reason? I think one of the reasons they make them on th STIHL saws is because the clutch covers have a tendency to break on them. Also, the clearance is too tight and they don’t let chips out fast enough either. I’m not sure if this clutch cover is going to be weak and on my other echo saw they tend to have plenty of opening to get chips out, especially when noodling. Thank you for watching and I appreciate the comment.
A couple extra degrees of ignition timing doesent surprise me that it would be snappier off idle throttle, doesent mean it will make more power under load , but it never hurts to try, possibly. Fortune favors the bold!
Thank you for watching. I am pretty sure Dave leaves the timing stock now on these 620s. He had me remove the timing advance on the older saw. Interested to see how the saw feels now.

I don’t think I even own a saw with a warnty🤣 that ported cylinder looks pretty decent, fairly mild compared to some of the ported 620s I’ve seen but that should be a nice strong reliable saw. I’m pretty excited to see how you like that 7310 stock, I’ve ran a few and they are pretty good stock
@@Super-Dave-Outdoors oh I sure, they rip after a mild port job. There’s no real reason to go completely wild with the porting in them, and the more mild port jobs last so much longer as well
Echo makes a solid saw. They are an old design but very dependable. Husqvarna has always been leaps and bounds ahead of the others in terms of anti-vibe. If you want something that runs smooth take a look at the twin cylinder echo 610. You could start them and set them on the bench and it would not move. Just sit there and idle. Pretty cool old saw. Now the new Stihls have caught up and dare I say stolen the spring anti-vibe that Husky is known for. I am old school and think the 3 series Husky's are the best they have ever made and the 5 series are a down grade to placate the EPA. Never ran one so I may be full of it. 😂 With all that said I think you will be happy with the Echo. They are like the Corolla of the saw world. They just start, run and take you were you want to go. They are just not exciting or flashy but dependable and get the job done. Porting them will certainly give them some pep. Hope you enjoy them.
@patrickjoy9551 You are correct about the "corolla" of the saw world but I am less interested in that at this point because of running saws such as the ported 660 I once had, my MS460 my 562 my friends 372XT my clone saw etc. There is more (to me) than just reliability. That is partially because I go looking for wood to cut just because it is fun and the result is a bit of wood I can sell and heat with. I would love an OE 372XP. My friend has a 572XP and I am looking forward to running it as well. The AutoTune Stuff can have some unique issues but let me tell you, there is nothing like running a saw that is perfectly in Tune no matter what. My 562XP was VERY problematic but once I put the SFP muffler on it, it changed completely and operates beautifully and it is very snappy and quite loud now. I know about the 650VXL? or something like that (the twin cylinder) and I had not heard about the smoothness of them. I would actually love to have some older vintage ECHO saws. Especially that one. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment

I sure appreciate that comment! Thank you for watching and also telling your experience with the 575XP. I have seen them online but really couldn't say much about them. Super cool that it is working well for you. I am just like you, not really brand loyal. I just like well operating machines!
Due to the Canada Post strike/lockout bologna I have been waiting on a new pot and piston for my old Homelite Super XL Automatic for a few weeks now. When it does arrive this will be my first full saw rebuild but I have little hope it will be done now before the end of the year.
Echo makes good stuff indeed.
bummer! I have not heard about that up till this point. Good luck and enjoy. I miss my Super XL but I have a local friend that mentioned something about one that I may be able to get.
@oakiewoodsman now that you have the good modern saws you NEED a classic for the channel!!
hahahaha... my wife is expecting me to slow down just a tad on these sort of purchases........when the numbers keep going up however, it makes it much easier to justify!
Warranties are overrated….
BTW, ran a 7310 and I would trade it even for my ported 572xp. It’s a sweet saw
Really? Please explain sir?
@ torque on the 7310 is better…. More useable power IMO
@backyardfirewood9852 I gotcha. The power band on this 7310 is pretty broad. The Husqvarna is a very peaky saw from what I have heard.
@@oakiewoodsman yes…. When you are cutting with the 7310 it just cuts…. The 572 is not meant to be dogged. Porting helped but still, 7310 is what I liked.
Nice! I wonder if we can work some sort of trade..... not or the 7310 though. That is going to get ported and I am VERY excited about that saw then.
😂😂that 7310 chain tensioner got ya..😂😂
So glad you saw that! Thanks for watching......I know this is your favorite saw of all time 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey Joe another awesome video so much eye candy there lol
@brandontaylor1251 Thank you for that! I am blessed for sure and am enjoying what I am doing!
@oakiewoodsman your welcome buddy sorry I haven't been keeping up with your videos as much I've been super busy but when I get a chance i always what your videos
Thank you for any time you can give 😉
Awesome show Brother, really enjoy your content. I really want a 620 and have never purchased a New saw. I think the 620 is my girl. Might just use that discount code!
Great choice, will not disappoint!
@yrdGBA I do not think there is a better value. Lots of performance potential but if you leave em stock, they have plenty of power to run a 24" just fine and at times a 28" I am pretty sure you will not find a better price and the options are super cool through sawsuppliers.com CODE: oakie10 Don't forget to check out the Husqvarna saws as well. Good deals too but.... the simplicity of the ECHO stuff is a really winning factor for many!
Whenever I hear void warranty I click watch, I love all chainsaws but I really like what echo has available now and I’m going to be getting my hands on one soon to add to my collection!
@Dylanmccutcheon747 much appreciated and thank you for watching! Make sure you hit up SawSuppliers and use Oakie10 if you are in the US. Pretty much the best deal there is. Do you have a favorite? I am pretty excited about this 7310 in all honestly.
@@oakiewoodsman I briefly had an echo cs 450 that I gave to my father because he liked it so much and it was easier to start for him, but I was shocked at how much we put that little saw through I’d like to try a bigger one 501 or maybe a 590 I already have a 71 cc husky
the 501 is a great choice. Nice and light! I have never run one but from the looks of it, cannot go wrong there!
Great video joe
Thank you so much!
great video
Thank you much! Appreciate the comment and hope to see you around more!
I've noticed the 545 vibration is much less than the 261.
Mornin Mr Kenny,
@TheRustyGarageandHomestead morning Mike
Interesting to hear Kenny. Husqvarna has that part of the chainsaw DIALED!
your real time data looks great on the computer
Were you zooming in????
@@oakiewoodsman lol no
Novice Lumberjack just released a video today on an upgraded air cleaner setup that's soon to be released. Locktite on the bolts may or may not work due to the engine heat. Traverse Creek has videos for mods to the Echo including an aftermarket deflector and an air cleaner fines reducing kit. Thanks for the video.
That is awesome! Will have to check it out! Thank you for watching and sharing!
Loc Tite makes high temp loc tite
@zackeryeckenrod6549 will the regular stuff at least help?
@@oakiewoodsman Loctite is anaerobic, dries in the lack of air. You use heat to melt it to loosen the fastener. Vibra-TITE 19960 Hot-Lock Extreme High Temperature Threadlocker, Translucent may work, I have no experience with it. Did you have a problem with them coming loose?
Not that I am aware of as of yet.
Just got a chance to watch, I likey a lot.
Thank you much! Good times!
I really wish WCS would make a clutch cover for the Echo 7310
Is it for looks or some other reason? I think one of the reasons they make them on th STIHL saws is because the clutch covers have a tendency to break on them. Also, the clearance is too tight and they don’t let chips out fast enough either. I’m not sure if this clutch cover is going to be weak and on my other echo saw they tend to have plenty of opening to get chips out, especially when noodling. Thank you for watching and I appreciate the comment.
Thats a good looking hat
I 100% agree sir! Thanks for the new cap Mike!
What's the difference between the 620p and 620pw?
Half wrap …3/4 wrap
@Aaron_A_Lynch thanks! That's what I was assuming but apparently I'm not a good Google search operator
@mikew9371 Thanks for watching!
@Aaron_A_Lynch Thank you
A couple extra degrees of ignition timing doesent surprise me that it would be snappier off idle throttle, doesent mean it will make more power under load , but it never hurts to try, possibly. Fortune favors the bold!
Thank you for watching. I am pretty sure Dave leaves the timing stock now on these 620s. He had me remove the timing advance on the older saw. Interested to see how the saw feels now.
Really like that 7310, nice saw 👍👏🇺🇸
Thank you sir! It runs nicely and when it gets sent off and work gets done, it should be VERY nice after that. I kinda wanna just mail it off right now but that is not the arrangement! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Some nice saws
Thank you, sir!
👊SGSS, do you have a 620?
The performance with the mild numbers might surprise you or you might know some people that just build wild stuff
Possibility of a SuperDave "mild" vs SGSS "wild" 620 Wack-Off?😁
@@Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws I’ve ran a bunch, never really wanted one
@@oakiewoodsman I have a 371xp and 357xp. They do live up to the hype. I also have a ms500i and ms261 cm Stihls. They also perform outstanding. I too like the modern fuel systems and not having to tune the carb. I dont cut professionally but my uncle did. Got to see first hand the difference between a pro saws and a farm/homeowner saws. He had Stihl and Husky. I helped him in the timber and grandpa at the sawmill in the winters when work was slow in my trade. They are gone now but what they taught me still lives on. I just cut firewood for myself and my mom, but I want good tools so I use pro equipment. Never had a ported saw but they look cool. Stay safe out there and happy holidays to you and yours.
@@patrickjoy9551 another great story. Thank you for sharing be safe out there with all of your excellent saws! You have a VERY nice lineup!
Novice Lumberjack has a great video on muffler modding 590/620 mufflers.
I have seen them but it was some time ago. Thank you for watching and commenting!

Paint markers of different colors are good for screw and part location Id........ Old cat mechanic
Much appreciated! You are saying just regular paint markers right and not the kind that kinda creates a crust that you can see when it breaks?
Just because it "seems dry" to us doesn't mean the bottom end isn't getting a proper amount of oil. Remember how much better our oils are these days compared to the 70's
@@Orefamilylawncare yes but keep in mind there are other regulations at play as well. In the 70s didn’t they use straight 30wt at 25:1 or so? I had an old McCulloch and also had the manual, I think that is what it stated in there and it an early 80s model I do believe. Red Armor at 40:1 work very well, doesn’t build up and leaves a nice oily sheen on the top end and bottom end. Thanks for stopping by from the short!

I think a hand piece w/ the flexshaft(@$20) that can be chucked in an old electric drill and some grinding bits would be a good stocking stuffer 4 you. Maybe a couple FarmerTec 372xp cylinders, a piston or 2...
Thank you DR!
@Doc-Cole_Trickle-of-Chainsaws I have been looking at the "VEVOR (yuck)" flexible shaft tools. Maybe some time. Cool stuff for sure!
@@oakiewoodsman if you have an old corded electric drill stored away somewhere w/ decent rpm just get the $20 flex shaft w/ hand piece that will chuck right into the drill
hmmmmmm..... I think I have an older Milwaukee laying around actually. I am glad you mentioned it. Thank you for the infomation once again!
i hate my Echo 590. it wont start
what is wrong with it??? It should run
Hi Joe. You should be ashamed of yourself. Oakie WOODSMAN doesn’t have any wood to cut. You’ll have to rename the channel to Oakie NOTWOODSMAN. Enjoy. Nazdravja!
hahahaha.... I flat refuse to deforest my property in the name of content! hahahaha. A neighbor of mine just pushed 20+ huge Oaks down. My wife reached out to them on FB messenger and we have had no luck. Would be some good 32" bar wood in there. May not get a chance to cut in there. I was only trying to help em out.
Not going lie that husky sounds like a bad mofo
Glorious saw! What makes it that way is the AM Steadfast Forestry Exhaust. Thank you for watching!
All that work for a bogger
