Ok, I have to admit that you got me on that one. When you started putting the nameplate on, finishing up the restore, the first thing I thought was “now it’s a “looking at” lawnmower.” Boy was I wrong! You went and cut the grass with it, which is the exact same thing I would’ve done as I restore things to put them to good use, just like you did. Well done!
Very nice and beautiful restoration job on that old electric lawn mower. It's really nice to see something old like that be restored. Sometimes that's better than buying something brand new.
@@Goodvibes-Adventures Oh gosh I never thought of changing the deck height on that thing. Looks like it meant unbolting all wheels and moving them all to another hole on each leg.
My father built an electric mower back in 1953 when I was 7 years old. The house we lived in at the time didn't have a very good electrical service. Every time he hit a clump of thick grass the tube on our TV would go out and not come back on for about 30 seconds. Made it impossible to watch Superman.
Stories like that make me think of my grandparents old TV they had the Space Command remote that used sound frequencies, I quickly found out when I was a kid eating cereal from a porcelain bowl with a metal spoon that when you hit the bowl with the spoon just right you could change the channels 😂
@@PreservationEnthusiast lol funny you say that, this happened like 15 years ago, that TV had been long dead and was finally getting taken out of the house, trying to lift that heavy thing into the back of his pickup my uncle dropped it, landed screen down on the driveway and the tube went, sounded like a bomb went off all the neighbors came outside 🤣
That was one of the most amazing refurbishing projects I've ever seen. Nothing was missed. And your attention to detail made the difference. The only issue I saw was looks like the actual cutting blade(s) are below the deck. And therefore you really need to watch where you mow with that type setup. But other than that, pure amazing enjoyment to see such a transfer of an old rusty piece of mowing equipment brough back to better than new condition... Thumbs Up!
The diameter of the wheels determine the height of the blades. The blades are about midway of the wheels. Ignore the deck. Put on wheels with wider diameter, it will cut even higher.
@@kittyhawk7060 The actual motor shaft makes the cutting blade sit below the deck instead of up inside the deck. So that makes the blade capable of hitting things that the deck would stop it from doing. You could put any diameter wheels on this mower but the cutting blade would still be below the deck... Hope that explains it better.
The thing that really amazed is that you were able to find tires for that thing. Funniest thing was that cord. Looks like the previous owner ran over it a time or two. Great work!
@@billykulim5202don’t talk such shit. Mains powered mowers have been around for a very long time. Millions of people have managed perfectly fine with them before shitty battery powered ones.
Wow!! You did a TOTALLY AWESOME restoration on that mower, my friend!! I must admit, I started watching your video about 3 times before this, and each time I had to stop; to go away somewhere. As a result, I lost track of it, each time; but when I found it again a little while ago, I wasn't about to pass it by, & I'm sure glad that I didn't, because watching you "transform" this mower back to looking like new again, was totally enjoyable!! I look forward to more great videos of yours, just like this one! Highest Regards! Ron Abilene, TX. USA.
You Sir have an amazing skill!!!! You absolutely brought new life to that rustec out electrical hazard. That mower looks incredible. If it were me after the demo id clean it back up and kinda make a show area for your restored mowers
i have an entire video playlist of restoration videos to fall asleep to, but this one i had to stay up and watch, it satisfying to watch you actually use it too, itd make the difference on to watch or not
I really enjoy videos like this. It's like going back in time. Incredible work! I can see something like this going for thousands, truly a one-of-kind piece of machinery. 👍👍
That looks a whole lot more durable and powerful than modern USA (China) electric or battery powered mowers. Bet those won’t be around in a hundred years. Great restoration!
It’s utterly fascinating to see how it’s put together and how you take it apart and refinish it! As a non-mechanical type person, I loved watching this video! I love seeing the old made usable again and wish I had a mower like this!
Wow! This mower is so simple i feel like i can make one as easily as it took you to restore one. The hardest part would be the curved rake overhang area. its a lot of curves with a lot of complex cuts.
Looks really good. For practical use, I might add a flexible mast (spring loaded?) to the handle to hold the wire away from the blades when backing up.
My granddad had one like this. You flipped the handle to change directions without twisting the power cord. It had a disc with four small blades under the deck. That little mower would do a good job. I sure wish I had his. He died in 1962.
That machine was made when people had common sense to be careful with it ! Now we have dummy bars and all kinds of deflectors on mowers here in the US . I call it stupid proofing !
Wow... That is the Honey Badger of mowers. The way it just tore through that thick heavy grass in one shot without slowing. Epic rebuild.
I was thinking the same - that motor is JUICY. No bogging nor lag - just went right in and didn't stop.
A mini-monster! They don’t make them like they used to!

There is no way after all that work, could I bring myself to muck it up. I’d put that thing in my living room under glass as a showpiece!

He needed to cut the lawn - didn’t touch it all summer while fixing the mower! 😝
Wow, that thing is a little lawn beast!
I love induction motors, they are a force to contend with.
Very nice and beautiful restoration job on that old electric lawn mower. It's really nice to see something old like that be restored. Sometimes that's better than buying something brand new.
My dad had one of this model. We had to watch the Power cable to not let it stay on the blade way. It brought me memories. Thank you
You can add a cord recoil that allows cord to recoil at the point it's plugged to...But I would have raised the deck to highest setting 😊
@@Goodvibes-Adventures Oh gosh I never thought of changing the deck height on that thing. Looks like it meant unbolting all wheels and moving them all to another hole on each leg.

Very impressed with the power that little mower has! Beautiful paint job!

I agree, this young man is amazing. Great work restoring this old mower. It cuts real good, too.

Well that mower is definitely a Tennessee UT fan.
Everything is cool except for electricity, these connections are a disaster.

That would have been my FIRST upgrade! Some sort of cord recoil.
I don't think I've ever seen a corded power mower before. That's honestly pretty neat!
They were all corded before small, lightweight batteries came around.
Thank you for showing it in action after the restoration! Man, that is one tiny mower, though lol, but it's got some power!
Wow that was an amazing restoration! That mower came out like new and then you just give it the business. Love it! Thanks for sharing.
From crusty to trusty, that thing belongs in a museum 🎉
should upgrade it to cordless, lawn mower with cable tangling are asking for trouble

Yay.... another lawn mower restoration video! I'm just enjoying watching the process!😁
That thing slayed that grass! Great job!
*BRAVO! Majestic restoration. :)*
I think that the people who built these mowers should be very proud of their work and I hope they keep going just like their mower's 👍🇬🇧
Nice job on the restoration! It works like a champ!
Never watched your channel before, nor any restoration content for that matter. Watched this whole video though, though! Absolutely impressive work!
Awesome job restoring such an antique. After seeing it work, goes to show how far modern technology has come as far as cut quality goes!!
Well said. Modern mowers are made from plastic, with weak blades and engines. This old model is so much more powerful and robust.
Wowzers! Tjat is a little workhorse of a mower! Fantastc! ❤❤❤
I had one of these in the early 70's it was a beast had it for twenty years.
Total respect for these skills. The patience to get it to the finish line is outstanding.
Absolutely epic, loving the white and orange 👍

Restoring the mower is one thing. Getting the motor to work is a wow to me.
Good job. I don't think many would have restored that. Especially to the extent you did.
It’s good to see someone who knows what they’re doing
