Can't believe you didn't mention "The Witches of Eastwick" (Cher, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jack Nicholson). Such a great late-80s classic!
"Over the Garden Wall" is my go to as an autumnal viewing tradition. From Cartoon Network, it's a ten part mini series, can be watched all together at roughly movie-length. It's got a wild cast of voice actors including Elijah Wood, Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry and John Cleese.
I’m surprised Nova didn’t mention the Disney Halloweentown movies! They’re a cheesy throwback. Also Frankenweenie is another great stop-motion one! One of my personal faves is Casper Meets Wendy. It isn’t as Halloween feely as much as Casper but it’s still got a charm to it!
I got to go to the world premiere of Hocus Pocus 2! I liked it! It never was gonna be as good as the original but out of all the Disney sequels they've been pumping out I think this one was one of the best. Also old Salem was filmed in the park around the corner from my childhood home so that was extra special. Young Winifred was the best part of the movie hands down. I wish they used her more. At the premiere I was sat next to Rachel Maksy! I was too nervous to say hi 🤦🏼♀️. Also everyone who got to do the purple carpet got a Swiffer WetJet which was perfect because I'd been really needing one 🤣
I feel like Ernest Scared Stupid is a really surreal watch especially as an adult. Also there’s a terrifying “Tails of Garfield” special anthology that has one emotionally scarring story.
I’m SO happy you talked about the set for “The Haunting” because it’s the best part about the whole film. Seriously who wouldn’t want to live in that house
Nova's outfit immediately made me think "Flames, on the side of my face. Heaving breaths". Or in this case heaving BREASTS! ... I'll see myself out. Also Lymp The Birds is so bloody good, one of the very few occasions where I don't hate the child actor. In fact the little girl in that went on to be in Alien (another great horror) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (a great sci-fi thriller). Also to keep it gay, she played Jack's mum in Will & Grace.
oh god, Death becomes her is sooo weird, I love it 😄 also my sister and I were obsessed with the movie "The 'Burbs" as kids/teens, which has similar vibes 😄
Personally, i would select Practical Magic, The Witches of Eastwick, Elvira: Mistress of The Dark, The Craft, Addams Family Values (because Joan Cusack), Death Becomes Her, and The Witches (Anjelica Houston's not Anne's interpretation). Might also throw in a few episodes of American Horror Story: Coven, too. 😁
I love to watch both Scary Godmother movies in October because I remember them coming on Cartoon Network every year. Even though the animation is very early cgi their still iconic movies.
Yass to all the movies. And I loved the Birds growing up. I love all horror movie but one that may fit what yall are talking about is Ghost Ship & Th13een Ghost, also for shows Halloween wars. They have a baker sugar maker and pumpkin carver. Lol 🎃
Halloween town is THE movie from my childhood that got me obsessed with Halloween. I was 4 years old when that movie first premiered on Disney channel and I still remember being on rug in front of the tv and not able to look away. And the scream movies are a must watch every October.🎃
the Prince of Darkness is by far the scariest film I've ever seen. haunted my day and night for years afterwards. old school stuff that you can't beat.
Laika also did “ParaNorman” another stop motion fantasy kids horror which controversial opinion I prefer more over “Coraline” “Practical Magic” is also in my opinion incredibly underrated, it’s so hard to try and get someone to watch the film because the trailers are all terrible.
"Trick R' Treat" is mandatory Halloween night watching. Night Breed is a classic....and The Haunting station catherine zeta jones for the first 7 minutes is great.
“The Worst Witch” with Tim Currie as the Grand High Wizard! *swoon* It’s a darling story with 1980s tropes and Tim Currie looking foxy. Singing, flying - I cannot stress how deeply I wanted to be the main girl in the story and play acted it in my room! (No mops were harmed, however…)
I freaking adore you two. I've been watching your parodies for years but only lately been binging all of your videos and I wish you were my best friends. All the references (the french & Saunders Britney and Madonna for one) are things I have quoted for years and some of the obscure ones no one ever gets but then i see you use them all the time! Looking gorgeous in thia vid. I'm not a horror movie fan but of course, Hocua Pocus, Practical Magic, Death Becomes her are standards.
I ache for the lighting and setting of Practical Magic. The filming location is in my state and this vid convinced me I just need to book a trip this month.
Elvira!!! And The Exorcist, is a must watch. So creepy, still holds up. And Linda Blair, so…. The Halloween Tree, specifically for Nova, she asked for more kid friendly (idk how more people don’t know about this one!). Halloween town too, although not my fav. Blair Witch. The Crow. All the Buffy’s. Demon Knight, this movie rocked me as a kid (it’s definitely not a kids movie). Bram’s Dracula, of course. I mean, the newer Netflix limited series was pretty good too. Witches of Eastwick, the old movie and the series that I wish lasted longer than 2 seasons, it was good. What else… The Frighteners and Flatliners might make the list too. Just so many good Spookytime favorites!!!
The Evil Dead trilogy is a must watch in October for me! Probably not to your liking, but I also love rewatching the original Universal Monster movies. There used to be a presenter on the local community access channel that played old horror movies during Hallowe'en, so I have a lot of nostalgia for them. Rocky Horror is a natural choice for October. Hell, it plays on at least one station here every year.
You have to add ParaNorman to your list! It's the movie Laika Studios did after Coraline and it's atmospheric and fun and a little bit sad. If you like Coraline you'll love it--it's SO good and really underrated.
Also there's a great surprise at the end about which male character has a boyfriend. Was very cool to see that mentioned so nonchalantly in a mainstream family flick.
Coraline is amazing. For some reason that movie genuinely scared me. Something about being stuck in a permanent nightmare scares me shitless. There’s a lot of underlying meanings in that film too I enjoyed Hocus Pocus 2. I really try not to get overly hyped for anything anymore, lol. I try to just take things for what they are and not draw so many comparisons. But I know many people were not thrilled with it. 🤷🏻♀️ I enjoyed it. Anyway you girls look great 🧡🖤
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina episode 1 and 2 (of Season 1) are PERFECT Halloween viewing. Those two episodes are set around Halloween and have the perfect Autumn/ spooky aesthetic and atmosphere. It's everything you could want from a witchy October show with two quirky aunts, a huge house (the Spellman Mortuary), ritualistic spells, pumpkin picking, a Halloween maze, a Halloween party, a Satanic gathering and light scares but otherwise quite cosy. The rest of Season 1 doesn't live up to the first two episodes and the other seasons go off the rails completely, but those first two episodes are absolute gold.
I suggest watching Terrifier if you haven't before, its a low budget horror movie with some really good practical effects but it is a little bit gruesome, theres a sequel with a bigger budget in cinemas this month as well!
I've been randomly watching horror flicks from the 60s. Most of them are Velveeta-like in quality, but some have been surprisingly good. Black Sabbath is a particular favorite. It has a healthy balance of cheese and suspense.
Love Christine McConnell! she is so creative. i love her whole aesthetic. Wish she still had a Netflix show. The TH-cam video of the reunion of her show's cast doing crafts was really great.
While not specifically Halloween themed I feel The Thing (the John Carpenter one) aged extremely well and is still genuinely terrifying, especially the dog scene. Also the first two Hellraiser movies have me obsessed.
As a little girl (ages ago …. ) I had these Barbie dolls (most of them were not real Barbies because we didn’t have the money to buy the expensive ones) and I never liked the look they had. Too much pink, too much blonde hair (sorry Nova). So, I started to give them a makeover. I cut off their hair and gave them new hair by pulling fine black and purple wollen threads through their scalp. My granny was great in knitting and sowing. I drew the dress I wantefor my doll. She magically understood my “design” and made it. Well my dolls ended up looking very much like Olympia. Still when my girly friends came over to play they found that my dolls looked creepy… Some people just haven’t got good taste 😉. I’m so glad I found out about you guys. Every video makes my day 😃
my absolute Halloween fave film is the original A nightmare on elm street, something about a man who can stalk you and kill in your dreams makes it feel so erie and Robert England is an amazing actor! Love you girls!!! xxx
I just discovered u two. I'm hooked , so so funny. Great content. You have a fan who's 50 and has the same soh. ❤️ hilarious 😂. I love all the edits, kath and kim ref. I found you through the caitlyn parody. So good. Keep it up. God knows we all need to laugh. Xxxx
Arsenic & Old Lace. Can’t wait for your new horror film - the one in which Nova disappeared was excellent! BTW, love that Olympia is going as Tippi!!!!
Love how you mentioned The Haunting! My husband and I watch it every halloween as well as The Thirteenth Ghost, Practical Magic, Sleepy hollow with Johnny Depp, and Something wicked this way comes. If you like gothic try Crimsom Peak, and Woman in Black (2012.)
For the witchy vibes, I always rewatch Practical Magic on Halloween. Has been my favorite since childhood, although I remember the scene with Jimmy's ghost scaring the shit out of me as a kid. It's just so comfy, and Nicole Kidman & Sandra Bullock were perfectly cast, the aunts as well. I wish they would do a sequel based on The Book of Magic (loosely, like the first one).
I have so many horror movies to suggest …. Event horizon, ginger snaps, shadow of the vampire, Tucker and dale vs evil, the changeling, the exorcist 3, evil dead (original), the witch, hereditary, session 9.
"go and get your clogs on" made me actually laugh out loud, it was so random but such a well-placed comment xD I bet you guys would be a good laugh to just hang out with of an afternoon xD
I agree about cosey vibes being an important part of spooky season and always rewatch Over the Garden Fence. Although it may be pushing the limits of the theme a little far, I can't help but include Bedazzled in the halloween cannon as well - Liz Hurley stalking about in red leather is everything this season is about. Also, Are You Afraid of the Dark? episodes for nostalgia.
I’ve only seen one other person mention “over the garden wall.” It’s a must watch every fall; such a fun, feel good, spooky show that holds up all these many years later.
I love Nightmare Before Christmas but for me it's 100% a Christmas film. The plot revolves around Christmas, the climax happens on Christmas Eve and the start of the film is actually the end of Halloween. So regardless of the spooky aesthetics, it is more part of the Christmas movie canon especially in comparison to things like Die Hard.
Both of your lipstick is fire. Missed opportunity for a The Crows Have Eyes reference of Moira in costume when talking about the birds. tsk tsk you're slipping. lol
The live action Frankenweenie (it's a short film, not feature length) with Shelley Duvall and Daniel Stern is amazing and not many people remember that it was a thing. Highly recommend! One of Tim Burton's first (1984)
The Haunting (1999) is so underrated! baby gay me was intrigued by Catherine Zeta Jones' bisexual character. My contribution to this list would be Blithe Spirit (1945, not the new one).
Hocus Pocus & Beetlejuice. Every single year. The Nightmare Before Christmas has been a firm favourite since I was a kid...even more so after playing Kingdom Hearts. Plus, the two 90's Addams Family films. I'm not a huge slasher fan but Halloween (original) is absolutely amazing. The shots through Michael's mask and hearing his breathing...intense.
The amount of times I’ve said, “I bind you (insert name here) from doing harm-harm against other people, and harm against yourself.”, to no reaction is honestly so disappointing. So I was so glad to see The Craft being shouted out here. Such an excellent film.
I love interview with a vampire! Love it so much! In my personal opinion best vampires in film and television not just on lore but also in writing and personal expression! I also have a Halloween tradition of watching Elvira Mistress of the dark every Halloween!
You guys have officially inspired me. After watching this I decided to order myself some chippies and ate them whilst watching Death Becomes Her! Thanks for a great evening 🤣
Were you on heroin at the time? Or perhaps experirncing psychotic hallucinations that your brain conjured in place of the film so that you didn't enter a catatonic state and/or have a full nervous breakdown? Or was it some other significant break from reality you suffered whilst watching it? I only ask because this was a very shit film. Perhaps you are just an exceptionally nice and optomistic person and give positive accounts of everything. eg. 5 stars and starry-eyes emoji for the polite way your doctor told you that you have ebola, or choosing 'Would buy again' in a survey about a tampon brand that gave you toxic shock and nearly ended your life? Please forgive my candour, but I'm really trying to understand how anyone could have thought this was a good film whilst being older than 7 years. 😉
Can't believe you didn't mention "The Witches of Eastwick" (Cher, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer and Jack Nicholson). Such a great late-80s classic!
That's year-round entertainment
Great movie, so devilishly delightful!
**Spits out cherry pit.
one of my all time faves
Maybe they don't like them. That's the whole point
Thanks Surfshark for keeping the dolls fed! 💛
I watch Rocky Horror Picture Show always for spooky season. 🎃
OH ROCKY
The Others , is literally one of the best horror movies out there. no cheap jump scares , no music ques. just a sense of dread
i watched it a week or so ago and it was BEYOND good
I wonder if were talking about the same movie??
@@ladeelibra925 i was talking about the others which is the one with nicole kidman in it
@@kixmrm OH, Ok. That's a good one too.
@@kixmrm probably my fave nicole kidman role , she nailed it!
Pan's labyrinth is a must watch, and is thematic enough in my eyes to watch in October
An excellent choice!
The beginning of that movie thoroughly traumatized me, never will attempt to watch it again.
Yesssssssss
Crimson Peak as well
@@praxus0793 I hated the scene with the mans face beaten in with a bottle.

Oh Potatoes and Molasses
HELL YES and that’s a rock fact

I thought it was great. Jealous of you! 🖤
I feel like Ernest Scared Stupid is a really surreal watch especially as an adult. Also there’s a terrifying “Tails of Garfield” special anthology that has one emotionally scarring story.
Oooh, Ernest Scared Stupid is a favourite, good pick!
Ginger Snaps is one i watch every halloween, i just really enjoy it.
I get this ache and I thought it was for sex but its to tear everything into f**king pieces
I’m SO happy you talked about the set for “The Haunting” because it’s the best part about the whole film. Seriously who wouldn’t want to live in that house
I am gonna watch Sweeney Todd this evening. Not really a Halloween film, but I watch it every October.🎃🎃

Agree to all these
Death becomes her, was amazing. And as far as movie houses go, that mansion or the Addams Manor are the two that'd be the best to live in.
Fairuza Balk in The Craft deserved an award for that ! Uncomfortable and unforgettable
I love to watch both Scary Godmother movies in October because I remember them coming on Cartoon Network every year. Even though the animation is very early cgi their still iconic movies.

You guys have officially inspired me. After watching this I decided to order myself some chippies and ate them whilst watching Death Becomes Her! Thanks for a great evening 🤣
Serial Mom is probably the most hilarious and underrated movie I have ever seen! Kathleen Turner deserved an oscar nomimation
Halloweentown Series!! Twitches!! Sorry I know I’m late to the party but I’m on a Novympia binge rn
“Fucking ugly shoes” that got me girl!!! 😂😂😂

I want that Orange and black wig!
Found Hocus Pocus 2 pretty damn good, definitely for a Disney sequel there always a bit hit or miss.
