    I gotta say, your channel is a godsend, Miyconst! I've been looking to make a virtualization environment with Proxmox and your detailed review of the motherboard has made my mind on it. I don't think that I'll be overclocking the CPU (plannning on a E5-2678v3), so it seems to be solid enough for running 24/7.
    Now if you have any kind of heatsink recommendations, I'd gladly hear it since I'm worried about the heat dispersion with this processor.
    Again, thanks for the review and keep up with such amazing content!
    Edit:
    Any links to some good ECC RAM are welcome as well!

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      E5-2678 V3 is not a very hot CPU, any decent cooler, for example Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo will do the job just fine. For ECC REG memories, I need to know your location, otherwise my recommendations will be irrelevant. In general, Samsung DDR4-2133/2400 ECC REG modules are the best.

      Please always pick the best priced item from the most reputable seller on AliExpress. You can use my links to navigate to AliExpress, but if the link leads to a not reputable seller or an overpriced product - don't buy it. AliExpress affiliate program limits my abilities very much, I cannot link sellers and products I want, I can only link what AliExpress allows me to link.

    Great analysis! I am very inclined to buy is board for the price she finds herself , to use it with the Xeon 2640v3, (for games) but I have some doubts. 1. VRM heats up a lot? To the point of causing throttling cpu? She will accept RAM ddr4 not ECC. (For common desktop). 3. LAN Port is gigabyte? Thanks for the attention!

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi. Here are some answers for your questions: 1. VRM heats up with E5-1650 V3 when overclocked, works fine with E5-2600 CPUs. 2. The motherboard works with regular DDR4 and DDR4 ECC REG, it means that with Xeon E5 processors you can use ANY RAM, with Core i7 processors you can use only regular RAM. 3. LAN port is advertised as a gigabit ethernet, but I didn't test the speed myself.

    Hello, il supposed to buy this motherboard kllisrer d8 or huanchi x99 d8 with e5 2620 v3 . I have doubts with memory. Can I install memory with 2400 MHz, 2600mhz 3000mhz ‽ Are they compatible with e5 2620 v3or needed overclocking or limited to 1866 MHz because of the processeur‽ Thank you

      DDR4-2400/2600/3000 will work, but the maximum memory speed with E5-2620 V3 will be DDR4-1866, this is the CPU limitation and nothing you can do about it.

    • @ulises3113

      @@Miyconst hello, thank you for answer. Let me tell you that your tests are really impressive, really good, taking account elements that many tests do not integrate in their tests. It is real pleasure to watch and listen. I'm agree with you as to the memory.
      In other words and in response to your mail s and test if Chinese motherboard: Altermiter X 99 z99 = Plex HD, so they are not good. However, if I understood, the best value are: killrise x99 d8 and huanchi x99 f8 as for the Chinese motherboards x99. The idea is to buy one of the two motherboards ( I prefer with three slots pcie 16x.. in case I need to replace my broken ethernet port, or usb 3.2...and so on ) the xeon i5 2620v3 and memory of 2400-2600mhz ( although memory is limited to 1866). So, with turbo boast and overclocking. If in one year or two, I feel I need a better processor, for instance i5 2680v3 or v4, I shall not replace the memory I bought for the e5 2620v3. I will use the e5 2620 v3 for playing and photos ( dxo optics program and decompress big files ( 13go, 15gi, 20 go). As to the killsre x99 d8, it seems is more complicated to flash bios with huanchi x99 f8's bios ( I'm not an expert). Is my explaining a reasonable choice ‽ Thank you

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ulises3113 Overall Huananzhi X99-F8 is a better board. It feels to be of a better quality, has a decent BIOS out of the box, has no issues to flash modified BIOS, and has two M.2 Slots. So, Kllisre X99 D8 makes sense if it's $15-20 cheaper than Huananzhi X99-F8.

      Xeon E5 CPUs have 40 PCI-E lanes, and the slots on the motherboard are connected to their own lanes, they are not shared, thus you can add an expansion card with an extra PCI-E NVMe SSD.

It would be a very welcome feature but a lot of name brand consumer motherboards leave it it out despite workstations from Dell, HP, etc, including it.

    • @Miyconst
      @Miyconst  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Emma. As far as I can tell - yes. I tested connecting two GPUs & a single NVMe adapter. All Xeon E5 V3 CPUs have 40 PCI-E lanes, thus it's not even required to reduce the number of PCI-E lanes per slot, even though it's possible to do that via BIOS settings. In my case two GPUs worked as PCI-E x16, and the NVMe adapter worked as PCI-E x4 for total of 36 PCI-E lanes occupied.

    • @EmmaBroadleaf
      @EmmaBroadleaf 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Miyconst I'd actually be interested in using an add-in card like the ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 or the Dell Ultra-Speed Drive Quad NVMe, both of which take four PCIe x4 devices and put them into a single PCIe x16 slot. These options require the BIOS to support mapping the x16 slot into x4/x4/x4/x4 instead. There are cards with multiplexer chips on them that don't require splitting the slot in the BIOS, but attaching the four NVMe drives directly to the CPU is vastly preferable (and definitely cheaper).

I have Jingsha x99-d8 motherboard, i flash it with huananzhi bios x99-tf to unlock overclock but it's supported by my xeon e5 2620 v3 cpu - Could you kindly tell me which kind of i7 cpu support that motherboard ? There are so confusing informations through internet. I know it's compatible with Haswell-e microarchitecture (is 5960x compatible ?) because cpuz software tells me that but what about Broadwell-e microarchitecture (as your 6800k you provided) ? Many thanks in advance!!!!! :D

      This motherboard works with all i7-5XXX and i7-6XXX CPUs, but if you install a CPU with 28 PCI-E lanes, you have to use the second PCI-E X16 slot for the GPU.

    Hi Kostiantyn, first at all thank you all you are doing for the community, its just great. I just bougt a JINGSHA X99 D8 motherboard with an E5 2678 v3 with the intention to make a hackintosh for audio production. For the moment I'm facing a problem relative to the MSR 0xE2. I have to unlock it and I cannot disable CFG-Lock in the BIOS because the option doesn't exist. So my first question is what Bios will be the best for this motherboard ? Do you know if a bios from Huananzhi have this option ? Thank you for your time

      By 64 GB, do you mean 64 GB memory modules or 64 GB in total? With the default BIOS I had mixed experience, for example 8 * 8 GB SK Hynix modules worked, but 8 * 8 GB Micron didn't work. Replacing the BIOS with the Huananzhi X99-F8 solved the issue.

      Make sure to install your memory with 16 GB per memory channel. It means that all 8 GB sticks should be on one side of the CPU, and the 16 GB sticks on the other side, and there shall be an empty slot in between the 16 GB modules.

      I am working on the detailed video review of X99 D4, but will tell you in advance, that everything said about X99 D8 can be applied to X99 D4. Basically, X99 D4 is a copy of Huananzhi X99-8M, no major issues found, works with Huananzhi BIOS, possible to overclock & unlock turbo boost. How it's gonna behave in the long run - nobody knows, since the board has just been released, but during the short testing it was behaving very well.
