So after watching a ton of your videos the last week or so I’ve arrived at the conclusion that I will be getting one of these boards. Your videos have been extremely helpful and when I do my next Ultra Budget Builds Video, I will be definitely be giving you a shout out. Much deserved and much appreciated. Thanks so much for all the hard work and research you out into the Chinese X99 platform. Keep up the great work!!!
Best review i have ever seen of this motherboards, in terms of specs settings, configuration and overclock guide. Thanks a lot!! Keep it up! Nice video!! ;D Waiting for the review of D8 and dual mothers! :D
I bought this board thanks to this review, with a Xeon E5-2680v4 + 64GB RAM. Also used a Huananzhi A700 cooler. Pleasantly surprised, the setup with windows 2016 server was painless. It's mean't to go to my home server, but is running test as a desktop workstation now. This is why I wanted the v4, lower powerdraw with 14nm. With a gigabyte 256GB NVME SSD, the system feels very responsive in all applications. In benchmarks though, it's showing it's age somewhat. CPU-Z single core is 374 vs 360 in my old i7-2600, probably due to the low core clocks. Multicore 6500 vs 1700 that is a huge difference. Cinebench R23 returns 12.100 while the i7 does 3100. (to put this in perspective, my 5950X workstation running PBO does 30.000 in R23) Can't fault it for the price, the total setup cost me about 600 euro without GPU while my 5950X is a 3000 euro system. And 64GB makes it somewhat expensive for a desktop system 32GB is plenty. For me the main use case is having 40 PCI-E lanes so we can use NVME storage via a 4x SSD PCI-E card, a 10GBit NIC and then there is still 1 16x slot left for future storage. The board supports bifurcation as well so for this setup it's perfect. Just have to take idle power measurement's compared to my old i7 server.
It's nice to see someone who uses Xeon V4 what it was designed for instead on squashing it into a flashy gaming system and a week later complain of how useless it is at gaming.
@@Miyconst Thanks. I have also discovered that this mainboard can actually run headless. I ordered a ZOTAC PCIe 1x card like you previously suggested. But this board runs fine with no GPU at all, which is perfect for a server. So it’s counterparts, the boards like X99-TF and X99-F8D will most likely also be able to do this. Obviously it would have to verified for other boards. But for example building a NAS with a low TDP Xeon is very viable. For workstation Xeon I have also spotted some other interesting versions. There is a E5-2697Av4 which has slightly lower corecount (16) VS the regular 2697v4-2699v4 but a higher baseclock, while still being a 145W TDP part. They are on the pricy side on AliExpress though.
Today i received my X99-F8, after 50 days of purchase, very happy with it. I have paired with a xeon 2680 v4 and 4 x 32 rdimm ecc samsung. Everything works fine. I have to adapt and old intel cooler socket 1366 that is work perfectly. My plan is to use with debian and xen for virtualization, replacing my gigabyte x79s up5 with xeon 2680. I wish that buying from aliexpress or ebay or amazon were more easy from here. I really love your channel. Greetings from Argentina.
Saludos.

@@Miyconst 2670v3 is around $100 (with QS having lower turbo I guess). I know that (right now) you don't make much money from the channel, but if you happend to ever had that please review it (especially after unlocking turbo). PS: You can read manufacturer as Huanan without "zhi".
@@Adam130694 I have already had Xeon E5-2678 V3 on my hands, but it was gone to a customer quite fast. QS & ES chips do not work with turbo boost unlock, only CPUs with stepping 2 or higher can be unlocked. Are you interested in some particular rendering application or in general?
Hi there... For everyone interested on this mother, I have using it for about 6 months, as a server at my home, to vistualize 10 Windows servers... LOAD 40% or more most of the time. Powered on all the time. No issues at all. Very pleased with this mobo...
Nice video, i was looking to buy this motherboard at december (cuz , ryzen motherboard and cpus are very expensive at my country), what is the best X99 motherboard that you recommend in your opinion?
Thanks for the review! After watching it i ordered myself the same M/B. As for memory that was not working - that's quite strange because i inserted 8 of the korean hynix sticks - absolutely the same model you shown in the video - and they all are working just fine. Also i tested load reduced RAM - i inserted 8 x 64GB Samsung LR DDR4 and system was able to detect and use all 512gb of RAM. I have a question - is there any software that is aware of the RGB controller on this m/b so i could use the RGB connector on it?
The RGB connector on the motherboard doesn't fit any other RGB device and the official Huananzhi store manager told me that the connector is not functional. Thus, there is no software for it.
Thanks for the review! Just one issue, what memory (Brand) are you using in these tests? And not mentioned is if one opts for higher memory speeds it should throttle down to that speed as sometimes finding a specific RAM module(s) just aren't available (or may even be On Sale). Great Review of the Motherboard by the way, it made me go out and purchase one and opted for the Xeon E5-1650 V3 for it's versatility as well as the way it works with this particular board, especially PCI.
I am testing with wide range of DDR4 memory modules. So far it's known that 4 banks modules are not supported, the rest should work. ECC REG memories usually have better compatibility. The RAM is going to be limited by your CPU. With locked CPUs it's not possible to overclock it.
hey man! great videos! just a quick one.... can you UNDERvolt the cpu with this mobo? i'm looking for passive cooling options here :) keep up the good work! :D
You can undervolt CPUs with unlocked multiplier (E5-1650 V3 / E5-1660 V3) using BIOS settings and locked Xeon E5-2600 V3 you can undervolt with custom EFI drivers.
Hi, really great video, it help me a lot ! I have some questions about this motherboard with e5-2678v3 Is it possible to Turbo boost and overclock e5-2678 v3 on this motherboard ? and what kind of performance do it get on cinebench R20 ? In the xeon processors, is the e5-2678v3 the best option for performance or e5-2650v3 / e5-1650v3 better ? Does all PCI-E slot work with e5-2678v3 turbo boost and overclocked ? I'm building a 3D render workstation with 128GB of DDR4 REG ECC RAM. Thanks you for your work, really good video !
1. It is not possible to overclock any Xeon E5-2600 CPU, only some E5-1600 CPUs are unlocked. 2. Turbo Boost unlock is possible on this motherboard. 3. Xeon E5-2678 V3 is a better value CPU when compared to E5-2650 V3 & E5-1650 V3. 4. All PCI-E slots work with Xeon E5-2678 V3. 5. For Cinebench R20 and other scores, see my other video: th-cam.com/video/k6oAxeucxHc/w-d-xo.html
@@Miyconst Is first PCI-E slot working on 16x width with 2678 v3 on this board? Im wondering because i dont have enough space in my case to place card somewhere else than in the top slot
hey, before anything, thanks a lot for your reviews and constant support for these x99 boards!! I bought X99 F8 and after flashing TU PEI 50/50 it randomly crashes OS, needing to restart. I am now testing FFS method. Windows is a bit smoother and games get a lot more FPS when using PEI method (CS:GO goes from 280~ to 310~ FPS average for example) even though it scores 100 points less in multithreaded cpu-z benchmark. Have you tested them both? Can you confirm it's something with BIOS itself? I see the version attached in your tool was made using 3STT 0.2 and there's newer versions out there now, IDK if that could cause this
I have tested both of the drivers and didn't experience the issue you describe. What is your CPU? Did you enable high performance mode in Windows? Did you restore BIOS defaults after flashing a modified BIOS? What kind of crash are you getting?
@@Miyconst I flashed FFS method back and got no problems yet. I am now modding myself the file to check. Got a 2678v3, high performance mode enable. Didn't reset to default values, might check that later though. The crashes are usually system hangs, sometimes at idle (when im away for few minutes). No response from computer, neither keyboard/mouse. Total black screen. No events in Windows Logs.
@@Miyconst ok... just flashed PEI version and reseted bios options. It clearly changed something because computer had to shut down completely and boot again. CS average FPS got increased by further 10-20fps overall. Getting stable 399FPS (capped via console) in some areas that before hit about 380. Now I'll be checking if it wont crash and report back. thanks a lot for the info, by what i knew BIOS options would reset themselves when flashing, but I guess I was wrong
Thanks for your reviews! Really helpful and well done. Which of these ATX motherboards would you suggest? The F8? The TF? I'm thinking of building a hackintosh.
Sadly, I have no experience with Hackintosh, thus I can't guarantee that OSX is going to work with theses boards. Go for X99-TF if you plan to use Xeon E5-2678 V3 with DDR3 memory and X99-F8 if you plan to use DDR4 memory. Other than the memory support, these two boards are basically identical.
@@zzmadd Yes, take a look at Huananzhi X99-8M, Kllisre X99 D4, JingSha X99 D4, Machinist X99Z. Reviews for all of these boards are available on my channel.
I built opencore hackintosh macos catalina using huananzhi x99-t8d, 2xe5-2678v3 cpu's & 64gb ddr3 - works quite well but should mention a few points: 1) it was easier to flash the bios of x99-t8d using the bios of x99-f8d (thanks Myconst!). The x99-f8d bios supports "above 4g decoding enabled" required by opencore hackintosh and works perfectly well on x99-t8d motherboard except onboard boot buzzer too loud so I removed the annoying boot buzzer from the motherboard). If you are using x99-f8d motherboard then you are fine and do not have to worry about this. 2) on-board audio worked with VoodooHDA kext but could not get AppleALC kext to work. 3) use model ImacPro1,1 if you want VDA Decoding to work (gpu hardware acceleration) - my rx580x works well. 3) after removing 06F2 microcode from bios I could turbo boost unlock by placing efi file in the EFI > OC > Driver folder. 4) Bios settings per opencore guide but should include MMIO high size 1024g, MSR lock control disable.
Hi Man. Thanks for the videos. I'm already suscribed and very interested on using X99 and x79 chinese boards. I'm going to start with this Huananzhi X99-F8. Last thing to decide. Did you have any dead (stop working) motherboard? How long have been you using this king of chinese motherboards? I'm concern about reliability. I want to use this board for a Xpenology NAS. Thanks again.
Hi Gustavo! So far I have not got any dead motherboards from their age. I have bricked a Machinist X99Z by trying to overclock an i7 CPU, but it's BIOS issue. The cheap green Plex HD / X99-Turbo / Atermitter X99 is very bad on its own, system is not stable and the performance is wrong. Huananzhi boards seem to have decent quality, and so far I have not got any complains regarding the longevity, still, only time will tell how long they will survive under 24/7 usage.
@@Miyconst thanks for your response. I'll let you know how it works. I hope you the best with this channel.. I will keeping following you from Argentina !!
Hi, I have this board since a couple of months and I am quite happy. One small problem: one of the small green fans is noisy (maybe is not well balanced). Any idea how to fix it? Thank you.
I have bought 8x16 gb ram to set up 128gb and e5 2678 v3 on this motherboard. I have bought 8 sticks ram gloway 2666 ddr4 6 micron and 2 Samsung(unfortaly they are diferent chip). My huananzhi f8 can not start and show code 60 and 67. I ve already test all sticks and all passed, but i can not use all. What i do wrong ? Would you help me ? Do you know how much memory this motherboard supports ? Thanks a lot. What's does it means 2Rx4 ?
I have problems using VIrtual Box or VMWARE, in both Softwares the Virtual Machine is painly slow. I have 2 configurations with different GPU and SSD/HDD. Both uses Huaninzh X99-F8 and E5-2678 V3. Virtualization is enabled.
Hello Miyconst, thanks for your videos, do you know how to change the PWM% in the BIOS ? I want a more "silent" profile, but can't change it from bios.
Sound quality is quite good, but I'm not a musician so it's very hard for me to tell.... hahaha Nice video, thanks. Could you tell me which slots should I install only 2 memory sticks? I know there are 4 "dimm 1" slots, but should I install in the left ones, the right ones, or doesn't matter? Thank you in advance!
It doesn't matter which side of the CPU you use, what matters is that you install the modules into separate channels. For this you can either install them into the furthest slots from the CPU socket (one on each side) or one into a furthest slot, and another one into the second furthest (so there is an empty slot between the modules).
Very nice review o both motherboards. Which do you think is better ? Huanzi X99-F8 or Kllisre X99-D8. For a xeon e5 2680 V4 and 4 x 32gb ddr4 ecc 2400 mhz. Thank you in advance. Grettings for Argentina.
Thank you for the review, there's no much information about this motherboard. I'm planning to buy it along a Xeon E5 2680 v3 processor. Is it a good choice for playing games? As i'm not used to deal with tuning computers, it will be easy to overclock it to get a better speed? If not, is it better another Xeon E5 processor? Thanks in advance.
Xeon E5-2678 V3 is the same CPU as E5-2680 V3, but with DDR3 memory support. Right now E5-2678 V3 costs cheaper than E5-2680 V3, thus I would recommend it over E5-2680 V3. Overclocking any Xeon E5-2600 CPU is not possible, because these CPUs have locked CPU clock multiplier. You need Xeon E5-1650 V3, if you want to overclock it. With Xeon E5-2600 V3 CPUs it's possible to force all CPU cores to run at the maximum turbo boost frequency, which is a sort of overclocking.
Thanks @@Miyconst for your answer. I want to use DDR4 memory in this Huananzhi X99-F8, so there's no problem about that. But if the Xeon E5-2680 V3 can't be overclocked, maybe it will be too slow for games? I know it has more cores and threads than E5-1650 V3, but don't know if for playing games, it will be better the Xeon E5-2680 V3 (lower speed but more cores) or the E5-1650 V3 (higher speed but less cores)? Both processors are the same price (well, E5-1650 V3 is a bit more expensive, but is still acceptable), but don't know if it's better a Xeon E5-2680 V3 not overcloacked or a E5-1650 V3 overcloacked. Also don't know (in case of choosing E5-2680 V3) if with this Huananzhi X99-F8 i can force all CPU cores to run at the maximum turbo boost frequency and if that will be the same/better/worst than having a E5-1650 V3 overcloacked. Thanks for your answers, as my level in computers is not high and i don't want to mistake buying something incorrect.
@@Blogodiseablog Xeon E5-2678 V3 also supports DDR4 memory, so compared to E5-2680 V3, there is only one difference: E5-2678 supports DDR4 & DDR3, while E5-2680 supports only DDR4. How good the CPU is for gaming, you can see in my other very comprehensive video: th-cam.com/video/0kDqL5Flc3w/w-d-xo.html An overclocked Xeon E5-1650 V3 will always be better in gaming, when compared to E5-2680 V3. Even if you unlock turbo boost on all cores for E5-2680 V3, overclocked E5-1650 V3 will still beat it in games. The only downside of E5-1650 V3 is it's price. Also, when overclocked, it produces quite some heat, thus you need a decent cooler to keep the CPU temps tamed.
Thanks @@Miyconst, i watched the video, now i know that more cores doesn't mean more power for playing games. So i will buy finally a Xeon E5-1650 V3 and try to overclock it. I'll install it in the Huananzhi X99-F8 board and try to afford as many DDR4 sockets i can. About the cooler, i plan getting a liquid one like this es.aliexpress.com/item/33045343657.html but don't know if it's better to have more coolers and where to place them. For this configuration, which graphic card do you recommend? My budget will be about 200 USD, but don't know if it's better a chinese graphic card or it has to be a quality card. Thanks.
@@Blogodiseablog You don't need more than 4 memory modules for the best performance. If your GPU budget is just $200, I would rather advice you to pick a cheap Machinist X99Z + E5-2640 V3 combo and buy a $300 GPU. The overall performance in games will be much better. Something like GTX 1660 Super or RX 5600 XT is a good option. If you really want to get X99-F8 & E5-1650 V3, then for $200 you can find second hand GTX 1070 / GTX 1660 / GTX 1660 Super / GTX 1660 Ti.
I have the Huananzhi X99-F8 Mainboard and I am very happy with it. I combined it with the 2640 v3 and Turbo Unlock works perfect. But I have some issues and hopefully someone can help me: 1.) When I use sleep mode, the turbo unlock is not working until I restart. Is there already a fix for this? 2.) I am using hibernation for now, but the boot time is really long on this mainboard. The initialisation where the different states on the LED-Display are shown takes very long. Is there any option to accelerate the boot? 3.) The CPU Fan runs at 50% RPM. I tried to tune the PWM settings in the bios, but I can only higher the speed on different temperatures, but it never goes below 50%. Is there any way to set the Speed around 25% or even disable the fan at low temperatures? Thanks in advance!
This exact motherboard was sent back to China, because one of its memory slots died, other two Huananzhi X99-TF & Kllisre X99 D8 are working rock solid.
Hi again. I have an E5-2678v3 and lots of Samsung DDR3 RDIMMs. Is the Huananzhi X99-D8 the same than this F8, just with DDR3? In that case, I‘ll get one.
Just wondering is the fan controller working or will the software you have patch that? I got a X99G-M v1 and unlocked it but no way to get the fans controlled so was thinking of moving everything over to this.
I was looking for an easy solution for a cheap, yet powerful home server, and I think I will be using one of these boards with a Xeon and ECC memory so that I can begin building my Windows Server. Run Jellyfin, and do all kinds of home server things. My only concern is that the SATA ports on board don't support RAID? This won't be too much of an issue because I wanted to get a SAS HBA anyway, and control the RAID with an ASIC.
If it's a hobby project, then the Chinese motherboards will be just fine, but if it is a real server, please do yourself a favor and get a used Dell workstation from eBay.
Hi, Hello from India, I am a fan of your channel, really enjoy watching your videos, I am thinking of buying this Huananzhi X99-F8 and E5-2650 v3 with 64Gb RAM, I have never used unbranded / Chinese motherboards before, but these boards a very good value, x99 chipset boards from the top brands are way to costly even in second market, How reliable do you think this board is? would it last in 24/7 operations or do you think its only good for light use?
I have a few workstations assembled with this motherboards, so far no issues. Even though buying from AliExpress is a lottery, the Huananzhi boards are quite decent.
Hi Miyconst! Thanks for sharing you knoledge. You channel help my decision about my new rig. I would like to know if the Huananzhi X99 F8 has RAI0 support for using 2 m2 hard disks. Tks!
Sorry, but I don't know if that works on this board, but even if it does work, I would recommend such RAID array because of M.2 port is PCI-E 3.0 and the other one is PCI-E 2.0.
@@ahkokra You can read on the title, one is marked as NVMe another on as SATA, at least it was so on my motherboard. The SATA one can also host NVMe drives, but only with PCI-E 2.0 speed.
Hi Miyconst, I was very impressed by your review so I bought one for myself. I thought a Engineering Sample Xeon (cpu stepping B0) would work but it failed to boot into Windows 10. However the installation media on the USB works and I have access to troubleshooting tools and cmd from it. Is there some kind of custom BIOS update for this mainboard to work with a Xeon ES chip? Also I noticed there are a few jumper pins pre-installed at the bottom, do they play a role in affecting it? Please help. At the moment I'm using a Xeon E5-2620 v3 on my board.
Hi there. As far as I know, this motherboard has very limited support when it comes to the ES CPUs. In your case, you might have a physically bad CPU sample or it might be a motherboard compatibility issue. I really doubt that there is any BIOS update to fix the issue, but you can try to contact the seller.
I have not tried any RAID configurations, but as far as I know it's not supported because one M.2 slot is connected to the CPU and the other one is connected to the chipset and limited y PCI Express 2.0 speed.
@@Miyconst thanks for that bro if you were to access the Raid Utility would it only work with sata? I bought one of those PciE nvme raid cards but I just can't seem to access the Raid Utility at all, I don't even see an option to access it. Any suggestions?

Your reviews are really nice. but when you said that a ram slot died, i started to worry about the real quality of the motherboard.. that maybe means that it's not meant to last?
Have you had any failure or break in the hardware of this motherboard because of the use during this period of time? You said in the video something about that ram slots had been crashed, if I did not misunderstand you, thanks for the video, greetings
So far I didn't have any problems with these motherboards due to the longevity issues, and the failed RAM slot is just a defect, which may happen with any motherboard. It does not seem to happen frequently.
Hi Brian. I could make such video, but the thing is that there is no "the best" settings, each configuration of Motherboard / CPU / RAM would require different settings.
@@Miyconst Thanks for the quick reply. Understood, would really appreciate if you could guide on each settings in general. Once again, thank you so much!

Hey Miyconst! Thanks for all the helpful content. I'd like to ask you think this motherboard would work fine with an E5-2683v4 Engineering Sample QHUY/QHZE CPU or E5 2680 V4. I couldn't find anything on the internet about a CPU support list. Thanks!
There is no definite information about the ES/QS samples. If you want a 100% compatibility - get the final revision or QS chip with code, which starts with SR, not Q.
Hello. I have a question: What would happen if I install x8 sticks of 64gb of ram? (total of 512gb) Would they work, only 32gb, or would not detect it? CPU supports this configuration. the problem could be in motherboard.
Hi man. Great video, very technical details about the motherboard. I saw the video and you tested the xeon E5-2650 with all ECC memories. Can I use that procesor with no ECC common DDR4 memory desktop? Thanks in advance for your help. I have no experience in this type of plattforms.
Hi Gustavo. All Xeon processors can work with normal non-ECC memory modules. Core i7 CPUs do not work with ECC memory. I have also tested E5-1650 V3 & E5-2650 V3 with regular desktop memory - works.
Have you try this mobo with some branded ram DDR4 like corsair vengeance, kingston hyperx, tridentZ? Wonder if I can move to this x99 platform with keeping my current ram stick
Hello Did You test it on Xenon V4 series. I thinking about setup with E5-2680 V4 and I wonder how its overclocking will look like on this motherboard, and how many PCIe lines can handle this procesor.
I have only tested with i7-6800k, which is an equivalent of Xeon E5-1650 V4. Still, I can say for sure that overclocking any Xeon E5-2600 is not possible on any motherboard, on branded motherboards it's possible to slightly rise BCLK, but that's it. Also Xeon E5 V4 do not support Turbo Boost Unlock.
These two are identical motherboards, the only difference is DDR3 support and one extra 4-pin fan header on X99-TF. Xeon E5-2640 V3 does not support DDR3, thus you have to go with DDR4, means X99-F8 is a better option.
Yes, you can. There is a slight chance that motherboard will refuse to work with your memory modules, but in general, 32 GB RDIMMs are supported, I have tested 6 x 32 GB + 2 x 16 GB DDR4 ECC REG modules on this motherboard.
I bought this board, and have a 2670 V3 installed, but Windows 10 only sees 4 of the 8 RAM slots. I took the CPU out to see if I had bent any pins, but none are bent at all. Any ideas why Windows only sees half the RAM slots? The 4 that work are slots 2 and 4 on each side, with 1 being the closest to the socket. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You mention there's only one 4-pin fan header on the F8. I looked at photos on Ali and it looks there's also two 3-pin fan headers too. Can you cofirm that?
Do you recommend F8 against TF ? Im planning to build something for hackintosh / gaming / productivity for a long term. Maybe in the future being able to upgrade.
Congratulations for the review. Very good. Could you help me, please? I also have this motherboard. I have 1 DDR4 ECC REG 32GB 2133 Mhz and it works normally however when I test with another DDR4 ECC Reg 32Gb 2400 Mhz, the CPU will not start. Do you know if I can use memories with different frequencies? Thank you.
Good night I would like to know if the Huananzhi x99 f8 card has any incompatibility with the Loki Asgard 8gb rgb memories, I bought 16gb of this memory and have already ordered the x99 f8, you think I will have problems with this memory.
Hi. With these Chinese motherboards you can never say with 100% certainty. I have a situation with two identical modules, one produced in China, another one in Korea. Chinese - work, Korean does not. Thus, the only way to check if there will be any compatibility problems is to plug the memory modules onto the motherboard and try it 😉. From my experience, you shall not be worried. Every 8 GB modules I have tested with these Chinese X99 boards worked well.
First of all, congratulations on your work, I have a problem with the Huananzhi F8, I can't connect more than 3 video cards simultaneously, the motherboard gives 5 beeps and d6 appears on the 2-digit display, I don't know what else to do, Do you have any idea what it could be? thank you
@@Miyconst Thank you very much for answering, I tried several ways in the BIOS, I managed to connect 4 GPU, do not hear the beep but unfortunately inside the windows the gpu does not appear, I do not know what else to do.
It shall be fine, the SATA ports are turned away from the motherboard, thus, even if it's covered with a graphics card, you still can connect SATA cables.
Unfortunately, I watched too late this vídeo. I bought the F8 with an i7 6800k, and had the same issue with overclocking. I was hoping that the mobo would hang the processor overclocking, but it just crashes. But, fortunately, the 4.0Ghz, for me, was what I was looking for.
Thanks for the review. Ehy @miyconst I have a problem with the RAMs modules. I bought four 8GB memory modules from Kllisre DDR4 2400MHZ but I cannot make them work at that frequency. If I set the bios to "auto" in the memory speed option system boot with 1866mhz modules RAM, and even if I set manually to 2400mhz, they always want to run at 1866mhz. Do you know why and if there are some settings that I have to check? Thanks a lot for the support, anyway I was thinking these motherboard was little better, I think they have a "mix" of old hardware and don't do what they promise. I think chinese quality control is very bad.
What is your current CPU? I would guess it's E5-2620 V3, since the memory speed is limited to DDR4-1866. If it's the case, then everything works as expected. E5-2620 V3 doe snot support anything faster than DDR4-1866.
@@Miyconst my CPU is E5-2640 V3, with 3400mhz of boost, I choose that one cause when I will do the unlock boost I will have all cores running to 3,4ghz, more frequency is good for gaming. So I cannot put the frequency of the RAM? I saw I have a bad bios, different from which one I see some youtube videos. In my bios I cannot set the RAM timings too.... Do you reccomend to flash another bios? Now I am doing the Turbo Boost Unlock quest.
@@Miyconst oh my God, I didn't read this before, if I knew before I did buy slower RAM speed. Anyway, I don't know why Xeon processors are so limited, my God. Anyway I think I succeded with the Turbo Unlock modification, even if (I really don't know why) my CPU stay with all cores to 3,3ghz and not 3,4ghz as the maximum multipier in this CPU should work.
Hi, Sr. I notice that these HUANANZHI X99 comes with a 12V RGB header (4pin) which is commonly used to connect leds, rgb fans and any non-addreseable rgb device, right?. But, is it supported by some software or how can we controll the rgb using that port?
Help!! I tried updating the flash and did cmos clear and now my motherboard is stuck (after many bios code changes) with code 79. What does it mean? I also disconnected all external cables and internal pcie card (just sata cables left connected) and still code 79. What does it mean? How can I solve this?
Hi I intend to set up a FreeNAS file server (24/7 connected). What configuration do you recommend? Remembering that the more RAM memory the better. Which CPU would indicate, E5 2678 V3, E5 2640 V3 or E5 1650 V3?
I would go with Xeon E5-2678 V3, Huananzhi X99-TF motherboard, and DDR3 memory. If you need a lot of RAM, then buying DDR3 instead of DDR4 will be significantly cheaper.
Hi Kostiantyn, my name is Fernando from Brazil, and I am a subscriber of your channel. I've been using 64GB (4x16) of DDR4 ECC REG 2133MHz RAM (Samsung modules M393A2G40DB0-CPB) on my F8 with a Xeon E5-2697 V3. Now I bought 2 more DDR sticks (same as I already had), so I have 6 (96GB) but I am facing a hard time guessing the positions for those 6 sticks. Do you have any clue on how should I install those extra 2 sticks? Maybe it will work as a pair of Triple channels... but I can not figure how to do it. Current 64gb (4*16) map is: 16gb on DIMA1, DIMB1, DIMD1, DIMC1 Thanks in advance!
Hi Fernando. With 6 modules I would install two per channel for triple-channel configuration. You can use the following scheme: [X, X, X, X, CPU, X, X, _, _].
All the Huananzhi X99 motherboards I have tested are without major bugs. The dead RAM slot on X99-F8 is rather me being unlucky. If you are looking to build a decent workstation with very tight budget, then Huananzhi X99-TF + Xeon E5-2678 V3 + 64 GB DDR3 RAM is a very appealing option.
Hi! You have make a very good review! Thank very much! But i have 1 question. I want to change my asus m599fx pro r2.0 + fx 8350 + 2x8gb corsair 1866mhz to a x99-F8 + xeon e5 1650 v3 + 4x4Gb DDR4 2133. Are you think this it's a good change? I'm only play xplane11, and need's a hard single thread processing and i don't want to spend money. My fx8350 is so bad on single thread. It's possible to mount e5 1650 v3 with 4x ddr4 sticks non ecc memory or i need to buy ecc reg? Thank's
In general E5-1650 V3 is a much better CPU than FX-8350, so I think it's a good replacement. Huananzhi X99-F8 is going to work well and you could even overclock the CPU to ~4.3 GHz, but you shall be careful with the 4 GB memory sticks. Cheap 4 banks modules are not supported by the Chinese X99 boards, the 8 banks modules might not work as well, but all 16 banks I have tested are working. Memory bank is a physical hardware specification, you can read more here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_bank

Hi. Where I can find the BIOS error codes description for this motherboard (X99-F8). I'm building my PC. I started to connect the devices and everything was working fine till I connected the USB3 front panel cable. So now my computer starts, gives me one short "beep" and turns on all the fans but the screen is off (no signal detected). I disconnected USB3 cable but the issue persists. The code that I have is AE. I'd be grateful for your help.
I bought the T8 model, with DDR3 support. Nice looking board. There is one issue, compared to the Jingsha X99 DDR3, I lost the option to force memory frequency. The Jingsha board fails with 256GB DDR3-1333, I have to downclock it to 1066Mhz (it doesn't matter, I need the RAM not the speed). At 1333 it hangs almost instantly on Memtest86, but passes 24hs with 1066Mhz. I just received the Huananzhi board, and I'm going to let it memtest during the night, but in case I found any error, do you know how to force 1066Mhz? Thanks!!
Hi friend. I have this board (X99 F8) with Xeon E5 2630L v3 and Turbo Boost unlocked with your program. Everything works fine now. The point is that I put the Windows 10 that I had installed in a ssd with MBR partitions and the board works with Bios. I would like to know if it is possible that, modifying the ssd partitions with Windows 10 itself, I could change the configuration in Bios for UEFI. Thanks.
@@Miyconst Thank you very much for your attention. It may be that my ignorance on the matter makes my question incomprehensible. I will try to explain myself: My intention is to access a Bios interface navigable with the mouse, I understand that this is the UEFI mode. I also understand that for this the system disk must be partitioned in GPT format instead of MBR (I don't know if the other disks as well) and be compatible with the board, before I had an LGA 775 board that was not UEFI compatible. I directly moved my components, including the system disk (SSD) in MBR format and other HDDs with data, to my new X99 F8 board and upgraded to your modified Bios to unlock Turbo Boost (I chose -50 -70). Everything is going great, but I have read out there that UEFI has advantages for hardware over Bios. I have also read that Windows 10 is capable of converting the system disk format from MBR to GPT. In your Bios, in the Advanced> CSM configuration> Boot option filter section, there are 3 options: "UEFI and Legacy", "Legacy only" and "UEFI only"; "UEFI and Legacy" is selected, I understand that on the first boot, Bios detected the disk's MBR format and was set to CSM compatibility mode. I think that what I should do to have the UEFI interface is to convert the system disk to GPT and in Bios select "UEFI only". I have seen many videos on TH-cam of Bios Huananzhi, but never with UEFI interface and that generates doubts. My question is if I am correct in the process to be carried out, if your Bios supports it and if you advise me to do so. I hope I made myself understood and apologize for my Google English. Thanks again.
@@mjge9411 okay... so, here are some answers: 1. Mouse in the BIOS / UEFI has nothing to do with UEFI boot. Huananzhi supports UEFI, but does not support mouse in the BIOS / UEFI. 2. What you have heard about BIOS vs UEFI is most likely irrelevant for your PC. If it works well - don't break it. 3. Converting MBR to GPT very often results in corrupted disk and failures to boot, do you really want to bother with this? 4. The easiest way to get Windows installed in UEFI mode is to disable legacy in BIOS and complete reinstall Windows.
@@Miyconst Thanks friend. You are absolutely right and what you have said is what my conscience tried to make me hear: if it works well, don't break it :), you just have to see the large number of problems that people pose to you here and on your blog. It is something normal that I am sure you will understand: all of us who pass through here, I think you too, always look for a little more; that's why we risk updating the Bios to unlock Turbo Boost .. and other things. But yes, my computer is great, I am lucky, I will try not to break it. A hug and thanks.
Please check for PCI-E slots. On your annotation screen: slot1A does not work at all, slot2A works x8, but BIOS settings do not work, slot3A x16. However, in the video on the screen, you show that slot1A is working x8, slot2A x16, slot3A is not working. Which of these is true? In which slot is it better to install the main graphics card and will the performance in the x8 slot be worse? Can I change the operation of slots with BIOS updates?
The confusion comes from how the slots are named. Let's count the PCI-E slots from the CPU socket towards the post code indicators. Then here is how they work with i7-6800k: x8 / x16 / x0, with Xeon E5: x16 / x16 / x4.

@@lucasoliveiraap Just go for Huananzhi X99-F8. Kllisre X99 D8 is also a good option, but currently the price is about the same, so you don't win anything with Kllisre. Huananzhi X99-TF only makes sense if you use E5-2678 V3 with DDR3 memory.
Thanks for your job! I have a question/problem with my motherboard x99 Huananzhi + 2678v3. I have CODE ERROR 73 in the led on the motherboard. My computer runs with normal appearance. Do you have a solution or an indication for solving this error 73 ? Thanks!
@@Miyconst apparently everything works fine. lights well and there are no signs of malfunction. but I am concerned that as a result of this failure marked by the led buzzer on the x99 board it will have long term consequences. @@lette110 I have seen this error on the Chinese X99 boards multiple times, nothing definite can be said as the reason or the cause of this "error".
Hi, Which (Chinese) graphics card do you recommend for the Huananzhi X99 F8 motherboard?
Today i received my X99-F8, after 50 days of purchase, very happy with it. I have paired with a xeon 2680 v4 and 4 x 32 rdimm ecc samsung. Everything works fine.
I have to adapt and old intel cooler socket 1366 that is work perfectly. My plan is to use with debian and xen for virtualization, replacing my gigabyte x79s up5 with xeon 2680.

Really great video. Helped me a lot
@@Miyconst Mine has the pads present, but it looks like newer models of the board have these pins removed.
@@DerrickRG Yes, this RGB header was never working, thus they have removed it completely.
With locked CPUs it's not possible to overclock it.
hey man! great videos!
just a quick one.... can you UNDERvolt the cpu with this mobo?
i'm looking for passive cooling options here :)

You can undervolt CPUs with unlocked multiplier (E5-1650 V3 / E5-1660 V3) using BIOS settings and locked Xeon E5-2600 V3 you can undervolt with custom EFI drivers.

Which motherboard do you use?
If the price is the same, I would go for Huananzhi X99-F8, and for X99 D8 if it's at least ~15 Euros cheaper.
How good the CPU is for gaming, you can see in my other very comprehensive video: th-cam.com/video/0kDqL5Flc3w/w-d-xo.html
An overclocked Xeon E5-1650 V3 will always be better in gaming, when compared to E5-2680 V3.
Thanks for the review, did you try Windows 11 on this board...
I didn't try, but others did, Windows 11 requires a TPM module, which is absent from the X99 boards, thus it's not compatible.
new huananzhi x99-8M-F comes already with the turbo boost hack applied to the bios, so you should check if you already have it before doing this.
It's not just X99-8M-F, different sellers randomly flash Turbo Unlocked BIOS, thus you should check, but not expect it.
I have the Huananzhi X99-F8 Mainboard and I am very happy with it. I combined it with the 2640 v3 and Turbo Unlock works perfect.
But I have some issues and hopefully someone can help me:
1.) When I use sleep mode, the turbo unlock is not working until I restart.
Thanks in advance!
same, sleep mode pause the turbo boost. don't know why

Amazing review.
I have only 1 question, how is it performing as of now?
This exact motherboard was sent back to China, because one of its memory slots died, other two Huananzhi X99-TF & Kllisre X99 D8 are working rock solid.
Miyconst great, thank you for the update
@@Miyconst What is the best of the 3?
Hi again. I have an E5-2678v3 and lots of Samsung DDR3 RDIMMs. Is the Huananzhi X99-D8 the same than this F8, just with DDR3? In that case, I‘ll get one.
You probably meant Huananzhi X99-T8, yes that's the same board, but with DDR3.
Just wondering is the fan controller working or will the software you have patch that? I got a X99G-M v1 and unlocked it but no way to get the fans controlled so was thinking of moving everything over to this.
The smart fan function works for the CPU fan header only and only with 4-pin PWM fans.

Do you know Who is Who, I mean 1st m2 is PCIe 3 and 2nd m2 is PCIe 2 where 1st is that one close tô the CPU socket? Tks

Awesome video man, just wondering have you tried using the Raid Utility I just don't seem to get it working I have 2 nvme ssds

Hi, great video, thanks a lot. Do you know if these boards support Wake on Lan?
Some of them do, others don't. As far as I know, Huananzhi supports it, but I have not tested it.
Your reviews are really nice. but when you said that a ram slot died, i started to worry about the real quality of the motherboard.. that maybe means that it's not meant to last?
I think, I was unlucky with this particular motherboard. I have already assembled multiple computers with these Huananzhi boards, no issues so far.

Hi, can you make a video on what is the best or optimised bios settings for Huananzhi X99 F8 and other Chinese x99 motherboards? Thanks.
Hi Brian. I could make such video, but the thing is that there is no "the best" settings, each configuration of Motherboard / CPU / RAM would require different settings.

Hi my friend, I got this board with an E5-2680 v4 and 8 x16GB Micron DDR4 rams, I just want to know if there is some MOD-BIOS that will help to improve the stability or fluency of the performance, or the default BIOS is good enough?, I'm asking because I'm still getting other parts (GPU, SSDs) to complete the build, I'm planning to use a 3080 TI, and 4 NVME x2tb (in raid for storage) with an adapter (like the asus hyper, the SO nvme will be direct on the board), this build will be for workstation and rendering, NOT gaming at all, so I hope there wont be any "bottleneck", so I hope you can help me with any information about BIOS or any other advice, thanks in advance.
Ah I see. I'll go for the E5-2683v4 then. Thanks a bunch!

No and no. Your CPU is locked and doesn't support Turbo Boost Unlock.
Have you try this mobo with some branded ram DDR4 like corsair vengeance, kingston hyperx, tridentZ? Wonder if I can move to this x99 platform with keeping my current ram stick
Yes, I did try some branded memories, G.Skill, Kingston, Crucial, Corsair. Did not have a single stick which would not work.
Miyconst great, thanks alot 🙏🏻
Hello
Did You test it on Xenon V4 series.
Hello, how much did you spend on this motherboard? As far as I know, the price of this motherboard produced in China is approximately $70
It doesn't really matter now because the video is so old.
Which motherboard do you recommend me for a E5 2640v3, huananzhi x99-TF or huananzhi x99-f8
These two are identical motherboards, the only difference is DDR3 support and one extra 4-pin fan header on X99-TF. Xeon E5-2640 V3 does not support DDR3, thus you have to go with DDR4, means X99-F8 is a better option.
Thankss!!
Excellent review! I have 4 RDIMM 32gb (2Rx4) ECC DDR4 2400... Can I have a full quad channel with this 4 RDIMM? Thanks in advance...
Yes, that's true, but you still can't control 3-pin fans rotation speed on this board.
Do you recommend F8 against TF ? Im planning to build something for hackintosh / gaming / productivity for a long term. Maybe in the future being able to upgrade.
Yes, if you need DDR4 support only. These two are basically identical boards, but X99-TF has 4 DDR3 and 4 DDR4 slots, while X99-F8 has 8 DDR4 slots.

There is no guarantee that chinese use the same post codes, but here is the guide I use: www.bioscentral.com/postcodes/amibios.htm
HI tnx for rew
Thanks!!
I have touched this subject and explained how it works in this video: th-cam.com/video/gDSjkRJlMys/w-d-xo.html
@@Miyconst I watched that video but didn't remember. Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks.
Sorry to say, but I don't understand your question.
@@mjge9411 okay... so, here are some answers:
Can Huananzhi X99-F8D and X99-8M-F being Turbo Boost Unlock? Where can I get the BIOS?
Hello, May I know what power supply was used.? I have the F8 board and tried testing it with Aone bit 750W, but it won’t power up.. all my connections and correct and tight..
As far as I remember, I used Corsair HX1000 at that time, but I am not sure. Have you validated that the power supply is working on its own?
I know this is off subject, but can you tell me how to access the BCLK setting in bios on this board? Can't seem to find it anywhere.
BCLK is not available on the Chinese X99 boards.
I have just ordered this MB and a Xeon E5-2697v3. They should work together correct? And also turbo unlock?
Yes and yes, it should work well together.
Hey, what's ur suggest? F8,TF or the kllisre d8? I'm planning to use a e5-2660 or 2678 and 2 memories of 8gb ddr4 from kllisre.
I was thinking about take the f8 but I don't know, the turbo booster unlock is equal for the 3 models? I don't plan oc the processor for now, only unlock turbo boost to increase frequency
@@Miyconst ty and congrats ur job is awesome
While using i7-6800k, which slot we should use for graphic card? The 16x slot at top or bottom?
The one in the middle.
@@Miyconst Thanks for your info
2:21 Hello, could you please confirm that it is a COM1 port?
Sorry I can't, since I have never tested it.
Thanks for your job! I have a question/problem with my motherboard x99 Huananzhi + 2678v3. I have CODE ERROR 73 in the led on the motherboard. My computer runs with normal appearance. Do you have a solution or an indication for solving this error 73 ? Thanks!
If the PC works well, why this is a problem?
@@Miyconst
apparently everything works fine. lights well and there are no signs of malfunction. but I am concerned that as a result of this failure marked by the led buzzer on the x99 board it will have long term consequences. I investigated and found the error CODE 73 ~ 77 PCH DXE initialization (PCH module specific).
I don't know exactly what PCH is or its application / operation.
With this perhaps you could give me your expert opinion, do you know how to solve the error? or do you think I should do something about it or can I just ignore the error if everything seems to be going fine using the computer?
Thank you!!!!
@@lette110 I have seen this error on the Chinese X99 boards multiple times, nothing definite can be said as the reason or the cause of this "error". You can try to disconnect your drives or connect them to different SATA ports and see if the error persists. Mine JingSha X99-D8 is also stopping at 73, but works flawlessly. This error code does not show up if I remove the Turbo Boost Unlock though.
@@Miyconst I understand, I take note and I am calmer knowing that with your experience you have seen more than one occasion said "failure" and everything has continued well.
thanks again, and greetings from a subscriber!
