      Back when my hair was damaged and high porosity, It wouldn’t stay moisturized for even a day 😫. Also when Everyone was on the coconut oil train my hair hated it and would dry out. My hair also gets dry with aloe Vera and too much glycerine or protein conditioners

    I enjoyed this video, and it was nice seeing some of the differences and similarities in care between 4C, and how I care for my 4A hair. It's certain that moisture is key for all of us coily and curly-haired ladies. Anyone with 4C to 3C needs to be very aware of moisture. I think one main difference is where growth plateaus happen with the different textures. I struggled a bit getting past bra strap, but it was still a moisture retention issue.

    • @cocoainkyoto
      @cocoainkyoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This makes a lot of sense! In addition to the likelihood of plateauing depending on hair type, I also have been thinking it likely changes due to body shape as well? Like people with longer/shorter torsos/neck/etc may experience them differently?

    • @1GoldenBreeze
      @1GoldenBreeze 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cocoainkyoto I think the difference with body length/shape is more related to how long it takes to reach a certain spot on the body than to an actual plateau. It's going to take someone who's 5'10 longer to get to waist length than it will someone who is 5'5 because of height AND they may also experience a growth plateau along the way.

    • @kittiesinthecity9333
      @kittiesinthecity9333 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@katkatungu8813 I have 4b high porosity hair. I start with medium size braids or twists (about 20-40). Then keep them up in a bun with the ends tucked or two flat twist down side of my head and tuck in the ends. I like this because I don't have to take down the twists to remoisturize weekly. I will take them down (detangle and redo) every two weeks for wash day. Depending on your hair type and porosity, a bun can or two side braids may work. My hair will mat, dry out and tangle if I only pull loose strands into a bun, so the medium braids/twists are best for me- I hope this helps :-)

    Hope this message finds you well. Would you be able to describe or show pics of what your breakage looks like. I have too many in my opinion longer and shorter pieces. My hair isn't growing as fast as it used to. I'm moisturizing once a week, F.D and trying to be very careful. I also wear my hair in twists most of the time. Protein treatments aren't doing anything. I've been using a sulfate shampoo on my scalp only and a conditioner to wash. Or just doing an acv rinse. I've been using a homemade leAve in or just using water and a Shea butter mix. I've been praying about it and doing everything right. I'm seeing slips and try to cut them out. For the one's I don't see. My hair is breaking there. Plus I have 4b and 4c strands through out my hair. I want to reach my goal. Please help.

    • @cocoainkyoto
      @cocoainkyoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hm, I’m not sure I’ll be able to figure out exactly where the issue lies from just this information, but the things that I thought after reading about your regimen are:
      1.) I’d stop protein treatments altogether. In my experience they’re more likely to do more harm than good if you don’t need it, and if you said it’s not helping then that means you don’t need it, so just let them all the way go.
      2. I think it’s possible your hair might be breaking from buildup because you seal with a butter but only wash with conditioner. I’d recommend giving your hair a thorough shampoo with your sulfate shampoo (if it’s silicone free) and then stop using the shea butter and switch to sealing with castor oil. It seals as well as a butter but is removed from the hair a lot easier.
      3. After you get all the shea butter out of your hair, switch to using a sulfate free shampoo on your hair and scalp regularly for ease. No need to wash your hair and scalp with different products.
      4. Idk what’s in your leave in conditioner, but I’d suggest just getting a silicone free store bought one because it will be good enough to give you the moisture you need without any guesswork.
      5. During your recovery period moisturize more frequently if you’d like to the same way I explained in this video.
      Hopefully this helps.
