This is the only video on the whole internet that explained how to get that thermometer thing back in it's proper location. Thank you so much for posting this video.
I had the exact same problem with my ice tray. It actually looked identical to yours. When I called Samsung to get the correct part number so i could order a new ice maker, they told me the repair would need a technician to come out. Instead of buying a $90 ice maker, I watched your video and spent $4 on the tray, $6 on shipping and only 15 mins to complete the whole thing. Thanks for saving me time and $!
A follow-up to my last post. The part came on time from appliancepartspros, and it took about 10 minutes to swap out the ice trays and get it back in. (I had already removed the assembly when I ordered the part.) It worked like a charm, and my model, the RS267LBBP makes it easier to make the electrical connection. It took a few seconds to figure out how to hook the assembly back onto the left rear post, which was not visible because the wiring was in the way, maybe twenty seconds or so, but it wasn't that hard. I ran the test and got the tray to flex and refill immediately. Mission accomplished! Good video, Mike!
Had a problem getting only broken cubes. This tray replacement solution was the perfect fix. Took a total 20 minutes to take off door and do replacement. Thanks!
I came to this video looking for assistance in repairing my Samsung freezer icemaker. I immediately saw I have a different model, however I stayed to watch the entire video because it is so enjoyable and informative to watch. Very good presentation!
Mine was stopped at the twisted tray position (kind of a scary thing to see for the first time). Thanks to you I learned how to remove the maker, how to remove the gears (a gear was out of place) and the reset button. Thanks, you saved me a lot of time and money! It took me half an hour.
I hope you are still able to read these comments because I would like to thank you so much for making this video. I replaced my tray today and all is working well. Again, nice job on the video and thank you.
Mike, in a word, thanks. In four words, thank you very much. You saved me a service call, made me feel better about being a home handy man, and make by wife very happy. Not in order of importance, I may add.
Thank you, while mine was not the exact same ice maker you helped me. My rubber sensor holder had "dropped" down I did not know exactly where it went. Samsung was absolutely no help, but your video saved the day!
you are a GENIUS and absolute gentleman for posting this video! i cannot thank you enough. your camera angles were fantastic and easy to follow step-by-step instructions truly saved my butt. in my impatience i thought, woo-hoo i can figure this out now... but like an impatient jerk... i installed the ice maker assembly with the cord up the middle instead of on the side and over the top. thank goodness i rewatched the rest of your video instead of thinking i had it all figured out. some people read assembly instructions while others dive head first and then wonder why so many parts are left over. like i said, you saved me! i immediately ran back into the kitchen, pulled out the assembly and re-routed the cord correctly. thank you so much!! crossing my fingers this fixes my problem. unlike you, my ice tray wasn’t cracked, but if it were, i would have tried to repair it just like you did -> so seeing you admit that and show your work product cracked me up. 2 giant thumbs up 👍, i saved your video in several places and immediately subscribed! you are truly wonderful and i wish you a blessed life.
I decided to look at this, thinking to get some general help with my ice maker problem. It turned out that this was my exact issue: a cracked tray, where I could not see the crack until I had pulled my unit out, as shown in the video. I got my order in to appliancepartspro (I've dealt with them before, too, and have always had a good experience.) When the part gets here, I'll finish out the repair, and get back to lots of ice, not an ice dispenser holding a solid single massive hunk of ice. Thanks again! I'm so glad I decided to view the video!
You are great Mike ! showed me how to fix my Samsung ice maker and told me where to get the part! I got to buy the ice tray separt instead of the whole unit everyone else was selling me.Thanks again, Diane
What a life saver this video was! Same model refrigerator, however, the ice maker quit making ice. Found a solid block of ice in the ice tray that would not pop out on rotation by the motor (not sure what caused this). Took everything out and inspected all parts thoroughly with no problem items found. Will try it out again and see how it goes. Thank you again.
This was exactly the same for model RS2530BWP. I wish I would have come across this video before I fixed mine. This by FAR is the best video out there! I appreciate this. Thank you and anyone needing to fix there tray needs to use this video. Trust me. I went through dozens. Great job!!!!!!!! :)
Mike you are my hero! I had the exact problem with my side by side Samsung model RS277ACRS_XAA . This happen when I was out of town and water ended up leaking onto my hardwood floor which ended up causing damaged it. Our well water is very hard and over time the ice tray gets mineral deposits. The mineral deposits interfere with the ice tray emptying. Getting the ice collection bucket out was my biggest challenge. Being a woman I own several trusty blow dryers. When heat is applied in the optimal direction - ice is no competition to a determined grandma on a mission. Bless you Mike for taking time to make your video - you are a lifesaver. I'm Forever grateful, Happy woman and a appreciative Acute Critical Care Registered Nurse from Idaho, Ms. Vicky
Wow, this is exactly the issue I had, a broken tray. I gather that the original tray had material that simply broke when attempting to drop ice…then it went south ! Thanks so much for a very detailed and concise video. You have helped pass your knowledge on….much appreciated. UPDATE: replaced tray with official OEM part for only $6. All is well
@@N-Scale strangely, ice works, but never drips ice until I press button. It’s as if the thermostat is not sensing the water turned to ice..so never cycles! Did you experience issues with thermostat?

Hi great Video, Just an FYI for other users this is the same Ice Maker as the Samsung Model RS261MDBP. It is a side by side model. I just replaced mine and and this video would have been very helpful. One thing I would mention is anytime you are connecting or disconnecting electrical ALWAYS unplug the fridge before doing so. You run the risk of damaging sensitive electronics on these pieces of equipment. Great Video!!!!!
Awesome video. I ordered a new ice tray for $7 and it fixed my problem. My ice was not dumping cubes but instead was clumping. The new ice tray solved it.
Excellent video! Thank you so much. You just saved me a lot of money and frustration! Your instructions are so clear that I know I will be able to do this and not have to call a repair man!
In my case the electric connector was not plugged in all the way down, and the motor stopped in an intermediate position on a second day after installation. When I pulled the ice maker assembly, the connector plug disconnected too easily because the latch was not engaged. Seems like a lazy job (or sabotage?) on the Samsung assembly line. No replacement was required, just reconnect properly. Thanks to you and your video, it saved me a call to Samsung!
Sir you save me a lot of troubleshooting ... All i had to do was hit that reset button (which i had no idea existed) and the ice maker started working again .... thanks for the video
Ty, although I have a different model ice maker this video helped me fix mine. It appeared I had a small chunk of ice stopping the tray from making its full return to position before refill. It wasn't refilling and I had thought it was a water issue and it was not. Thanks for showing me the cycle button, that's all it needed 😄
Hi again..... I ordered a new part as it was the motor that went. I purchased the ice tray and motor together, it doesn’t come with the housing, though that’s fine as it just clips out, but I’m sure you could get it, if needed ...... THANKS TO YOU ..... I still saved a ton on money fitting it myself.... SO glad to get my ice maker back...... for anyone in the UK.... you can get spare parts from many appliances from “ESPARES” at a great price and fast delivery. Great video.....and thanks again 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Mike, Thanks for your Video! I looked and looked and you had by far the best video on what my issue was. My Thermosensor had fallen down and was hanging. I didn't have the Foam or Plastic Covering you showed. Not sure where it went. However, I did want to help you and others. If you remove the Top Tray, you can access that part & the Cover with relative ease. If my arms were longer, I'm sure I could have disconnected the wires in the back to remove the unit. Luckily that was not my problem. But your video does have me wondering which Ice Tray I have...but not going to purchase one just for the sake of buying a flex model.
Thanks a lot! Turns out all we needed to fix ours was just a Phillips screwdriver. We've had a problem with ours for over a month now and it turned out to be a simple fix.
Thank you Mike for this very helpful video. Although my Samsung refrigerator and ice maker assembly were slightly different models than what was shown in the video, the removal of the old assembly and install of the new one were essentially the same.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, this was an amazing video. You showed me everything I needed to know. Mine stopped filling with water and I didn’t know about the test button. I just tried it and it operated and filled. We’ll see if that is all that was needed, if not I now know how to fix it thanks to you. Great work, you saved me hundreds of dollars I’m sure. Merry Christmas!
Brilliant. In the UK but watched this video and dismantled the ice maker as instructed and found that the ice tray had come out of its circular housing. Popped it back in and as we say here "Bob's your Uncle" Thank you.
Thanks for the Video. I fixed my Samsung Model RS261MDBP. Mike you explained the intricacies of of removing and replacing the ice cube tray. Well done video. You are a natural. Thanks again saving us a lot of money.

thanks for this. would never have figured out what i was missing or how to get it back together without this video. that rubber bit has been sitting in a drawer for a couple of years now while the machine made big blobs of ice...
Mike, Thank you so much. Easy to follow. Not the least bit intimidating. Saved me probably 150. dollars or more for a simple cracked ice tray. Just about to order one online. Hardest part was trying to reach in to unplug the unit wires. I hope it won't be too tricky to plug them back in. I'm sure it will be fine. Great video. Totally clear and didn't drag on and on. Got to the point.
Thank you so much Mike for the fantastic video. I was able to replace mine in a matter of minutes...the hardest part was having the correct screwdriver and getting it started. You are a lifesaver. :)
thanks so much for video, I am not a handy person and was about to call a repair man who probably would of way over charged me and make me buy unneeded equipment, but I was able to fix it and it only cost me $3 for the tray. Thanks again!
First off: Thank you for getting this video out there, it has helped greatly. That being said: New problem: The mechanism works it fills the ice try appropriately but it does not dump as often as it should. I'm getting very few ice dumps, but I'm not sure what would be causing this issue. Anyone possibly know why it won't dump the ice in the bucket? Is there a temp sensor that is telling the machine to dump the ice?
I know this is a year later, but try and ensure you not over freezing.... Temp should be between -13 and -18 MAX... Ice expands, might be why it does not drop out easily ... long shot, but try... This is for somebody, probably not you Whitney Gilbreth :-)
Thank you for the great video. My ice machine, in a similar Samsung freezer, stopped making ice..The tray was stuck in the "dump" position"( not broken or cracked)and did not return to the upright position. I banged (*lightly) on the motor unit with a wood spoon, tried the reset button and this freed up the ice tray that was stuck in the dump position.. The tray returned to the upright position and filled properly. Hopefully, this is all it was. Not sure what caused it to "stay" in the dump position but I'll defrost the unit and see if this keeps it from getting stuck again. Thanks again..
Thank you. Your video allowed me to diagnose what is wrong with mine. The plastic holding the pivot point is broken so when the tray tries to flex when the motor over runs it moves at the pivot point and the tray does not flex. No ice dump. Followed by overflowing. Thanks
Thanks Mike! Great video! I didn't even know there was a test button on the thing. Our frig is 12 years old and holding up great, but it was never very good at making ice. Now the tray is not ejecting the ice. When we take a closer look, we'll know just what to look for. Hopefully, we'll get a bigger tray also if that's what needs to be replaced! Really appreciate you sharing your expertise.
My ice maker had become an ice waterfall, ending on the wooden floor under the fridge. I turned the water off, cleaned all the ice from the freezer section, when I discovered the ice tray had overfilled and turned into a block of ice that would not release. It would recycle and release more water - thus the ice waterfall. I found this video, and while the ice maker was not identical, it was functionally. It took five minutes to get the ice maker out, another five minutes to free the ice from the tray, and another five minutes to re-install the ice maker. Now I wait, with great confidence that the problem is solved. I suspect the initial problem was that the ice bucket was not re-seated properly after being emptied. Thank you very much for this video!
Mike, I have the same model, it stopped making ice completely. It would not turn even when the reset buttons as pressed. I replaced the whole assembly and it turns and works now but only makes ice once or twice a day total. Any suggestions?
That is the water inlet guide. On mine it has a soft-rubber end to it that the tray bumps into when in the ejecting/twisted position. I am imagining that this is to knock off any chunks of ice or clog in the end before trying to re-fill. If this is bent out of position or missing the soft end you could potentially freeze up here. Just did the tray replacement! Thanks Mike!
Wow... excellent video .. my tray has stuck in the empty position 🙁..... I’m thinking it might be the motor that’s broken.. I’ve tried the test button, nothing, it’s not moving .....Not sure if I dismantled it with ur instructions if it would work again or not or released the tray .... any advice you can give 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
All I was able to do is relate what worked for me. I think one can buy the motor unit as well . The stuck tray may be keeping the test button from actuating the system. Thanks , Mike
Mike Fifer I’ve seen a few places that will sell the full unit, just found out from a friend that has a Samsung says there is apparently also a reset button for the motor if I take the unit out, I should see it. But thanks to you, I’ll know how to get it out 🙂👍🏼....
You're right there was a modification to the ice tray. the Samsung DA63-02284B Ice Tray is the updated version to the Samsung DA63-02284A Ice Tray, but read the discription carefully when buying a new one, because some sites still sell the old DA63-02284A Ice Tray version.
Thank you so much. Tray was $4.40 and shipping was $6.25. The part got to us within 5 days. I shudder to think what it would have cost for a repairman.
I smacked the motor a couple of times and finally the tray went back to the original position after being stuck in the twisted position. I am hoping now it works after a few hours. If it doesn't then I will have to call for service since I think it might be the motor plus we have warranty on it. Thanks for the video.
Thanks this video helped me with my ice maker. Was a different model and different issue then yours but the maker was very similar. Seems the power feed to motor has a loose connection. The tray was mid turn and the test button did nothing till i removed it then it started working. This ice maker is a secondary unit in my model fridge.
Great video! I was able to determine my ice maker is not broken, but it’s not filling up with water. The filter was old and I replaced it, but still no water coming out to fill the ice cube tray. Water does work in the fridge though. Help please :)
Did you ever get it fixed???I bought one from someone, they did say ice maker didn't work, same problem...I hear the motor, but I don't hear water ,and doesn't have any water either...just wondering if u ever figured it out...need help to,hope you can help,if you've figured it out by now
Same thing happened to me. The back of the water filter housing froze up. Unplugged fridge for 24 hours and left doors open. Took apart drains in back by compressor and cleaned out. Steamed out drain lines. Have issues with icing on freezer floor.
Thanks for the video. Do you think that if the sensor is bad on the tray that it will stop dumping ice? I purchased a brand new unit and it makes ice but does not dump. Another question is if the front clear cover is not there do you think it will affect the sensor?
Try replacing the thermal fuse and just to be sure also the defrost sensor located by removing the freezer panel. Is the sensor by the evaporator and the thermal fuse is next to the coils. Google it by thermal fuse samsung fridge.
Hi Mike Your video is excellent. I have another problem maybe you know how to solve it. When you press the test button the tray does not stop when it comes down. He keeps trying to turn around and makes a noise. Thanks
That water supply tube seen at 14:32 in my fridge froze so no water was getting the ice maker. It is wrapped in a "heater" so it must be "broke". What is it called? I am trying to find the part.
So I am having the issue of my tray not dumping. It tries to dump, no cracks in the tray like yours Mike. And since it’s not dumping, it’s over flowing because the ice maker triggers to fill up for a new batch of ice. I end up with a layer of frozen water at the bottom of my ice container. No cracks in the tray. Idk what to do because it’s trying to dump but won’t
This is the only video on the whole internet that explained how to get that thermometer thing back in it's proper location.

Got to the point.
Thanks Linda , Hope it all goes well. I have faith in you.
Mike
Easy to visualize and understand. Good job Mike and thanks for posting.
Galen Nordland Thanks so much Galen, Mike
Thank you so much Mike for the fantastic video. I was able to replace mine in a matter of minutes...the hardest part was having the correct screwdriver and getting it started. You are a lifesaver. :)
Thanks , Glad to help.
Mike
thanks so much for video, I am not a handy person and was about to call a repair man who probably would of way over charged me and make me buy unneeded equipment, but I was able to fix it and it only cost me $3 for the tray. Thanks again!
+Jeremy Stahl Thanks Jeremy , glad to have helped.
Mike
Very helpful. Saved a bundle. Had to replace the plastic bracket that holds the foam thermostat holder. Cost $14 on Amazon.
Thanks and glad to help.
Mike
Thank you so much. I just watched your video and replaced my ice bucket. Great job!!!
Thank You and glad to have helped.
Mike
You are a good soul to take the time to walk me through that process
Thanks so much and Glad to help.
Mike
Brilliant! Precisely what I needed to deal with my Samsung RB195ZASW's ice maker. Thank you sir.
You are more than welcome Glen !!
First off: Thank you for getting this video out there, it has helped greatly. That being said:
New problem: The mechanism works it fills the ice try appropriately but it does not dump as often as it should.
Thanks , Glad to help.
Mike
Mike, excellent demo. Wish all how-to’s were as well made. Exactly what is needed to know, thanks much.
Thanks Joe and glad to help.
Mike
This video was really helpful. My sensor came loose and I could figure out were to put it. Great video, really simple to follow.
Cora, Thanks so much and really glad to help.
Mike
Thank you!! I was able to do this myself and saved hubby from having to do it when he got home.
Thanks , Mike
Thank you. Your video allowed me to diagnose what is wrong with mine. The plastic holding the pivot point is broken so when the tray tries to flex when the motor over runs it moves at the pivot point and the tray does not flex. No ice dump. Followed by overflowing. Thanks
Thanks Amir , and I am glad it helped.
Mike
I know its years later but what did you do to fix yours. Mine doesnt turn over all the way to flex the tray.
Nice job Mike. Excellent detail and easy to follow
Thanks so much Hank !!!
Thanks Cathy , hope all works out well.
Mike
My thermal sensor popped out, you instructions showed me how to put it back, thank you for making this video.
You are more than welcome
Perfect! I've found two great videos today that will help me repair my frig! I'm excited!
Hope it works out for you.
Mike

Oh my goodness. You just saved us hundreds. Thanks so much! Great video!
Glad to help Kathy.
Mike
Thank you for your knowledge, time to make a video . It saved me money fixing ice maker. Thanks again, Mike.
Kelly Huynh Thank You Kelly and glad to help.
Mike
You are welcome and I hope it works for you.
Mike
Like a champ! Thanks again - I may have a new career.
Mike, I have the same model, it stopped making ice completely. It would not turn even when the reset buttons as pressed. I replaced the whole assembly and it turns and works now but only makes ice once or twice a day total.
Any suggestions?
Nope , sorry , I have no clue.
Mike
Mike, it was a good video; My question is what do you call that plastic water dispenser into the ice tray, because my is keep freezing up?
I have no idea what it is called. I am sorry. Mike
Thank You so much. Ours was a little bit different but the same set up. You were a life saver
Thanks and so glad to help.
Mike
Excellent video and parts I bought from your site!!❤❤❤❤❤
Wow... excellent video .. my tray has stuck in the empty position 🙁.....
Can the arm be replaced without replacing the whole icemaker? If so what is it called when looking for the part?
Not being a repair man , I have no idea.
Thanks , Mike
Great video. Had the same problem with mine and fixed it the same way. Didn't miss anything on the video. Very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks so much Paul.
Mike
Thank you so much for sharing this video. Super easy to follow and understand.
Thanks and glad to help.
Mike
thank you for making this video. very thorough and clear instructions. well done!
Thanks , Mike
Thank you so much. Tray was $4.40 and shipping was $6.25. The part got to us within 5 days. I shudder to think what it would have cost for a repairman.
Thanks , Glad to help.
Mike
Thanks for the excellent video. My icemaker is working but makes nothing but broken cubes. Now I have the knowledge to pull the unit and investigate.
Thanks Rick, You can do it. Pretty easy.
Mike
I only get broken cubes. That's all I have ever gotten. That's fine with me. I can't imagine why they don't pop out in one piece.
I’ve been getting broken cubes for about a year now… Don’t know why.
I smacked the motor a couple of times and finally the tray went back to the original position after being stuck in the twisted position. I am hoping now it works after a few hours. If it doesn't then I will have to call for service since I think it might be the motor plus we have warranty on it. Thanks for the video.
Hope it works for you.
Mike
Thanks this video helped me with my ice maker. Was a different model and different issue then yours but the maker was very similar. Seems the power feed to motor has a loose connection. The tray was mid turn and the test button did nothing till i removed it then it started working. This ice maker is a secondary unit in my model fridge.
Glad it helped, Mike
Thank you for your helpful advice, instructions and extremely helpful video with step by step instruction.
Glad to help.
Mike
Thank you for taking the time to show this!
Thanks Bill , hope it helped.
Mike
Thanks for the video. Do you think that if the sensor is bad on the tray that it will stop dumping ice? I purchased a brand new unit and it makes ice but does not dump. Another question is if the front clear cover is not there do you think it will affect the sensor?
I am no tech but I would say a bad board and I think the cover needs to be there.
Thanks , Mike
Try replacing the thermal fuse and just to be sure also the defrost sensor located by removing the freezer panel. Is the sensor by the evaporator and the thermal fuse is next to the coils. Google it by thermal fuse samsung fridge.
You made resetting so simple. Thank you
Glad to help Marty , Mike
Hi Mike Your video is excellent. I have another problem maybe you know how to solve it. When you press the test button the tray does not stop when it comes down. He keeps trying to turn around and makes a noise. Thanks
I am sorry but I am not a tech and only found out my own issue with this.
Thanks , Mike
Excellent video! Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Thanks J , hope it helped.
Mike
My ice auto maker plastic panel is broken. I need to buy new to replace. Where do I buy it?
I do not know as I am just a home owner
Fixed my ice maker thanks to you! Thanks so much!!!!
Glad to help Danny, Mike
Excellent help! Is there a way to replace the ice tray without removing anything else (besides the thermocouple sensor and it’s housing)?
Thanks Jim, I do not think so.
Mike
Hello, I need to replace that white plastic/silicon tube for water @14:37, do you know what its called ? Thank you!
I do not but I would call it the filler tube,
Thanks , Mike
This video is very informative and useful. Mike, you are a good man. 감사합니다(Thank you)
Thank You Yong, Mike
Thank you mike awesome video really helpful.
I have a problem now with the temp light hard to see the numbers do you have any ideas
Thank you so much. You make it so clear and easy. I fixed mine already.
Thanks for the video. I'm thinking I have the same problem. Glad to hear it's an easy fix
***** It really is,
Thanks , Mike
That water supply tube seen at 14:32 in my fridge froze so no water was getting the ice maker. It is wrapped in a "heater" so it must be "broke". What is it called? I am trying to find the part.
I am sorry but I am no tech. Thanks , Mike
This was helpful. If the test button does not work, does that mean the motor is broken?
So I am having the issue of my tray not dumping. It tries to dump, no cracks in the tray like yours Mike. And since it’s not dumping, it’s over flowing because the ice maker triggers to fill up for a new batch of ice. I end up with a layer of frozen water at the bottom of my ice container. No cracks in the tray. Idk what to do because it’s trying to dump but won’t
