seeing as the pecans are not cooked, I would toast my pecans first so they had a better texture and taste like a pecan pie. Definitely will try the recipe and bake the crust vs microwave. thank you for doing both versions to save us from trying!!!! :)
Before you 'cook' your pastry, prick the bottom of your pie crust with the tines of a fork. It's called 'docking' and prevents the pastry from puffing up😊
I just made a really good pecan cheesecake. For the crust, I used equal amounts of butter and almond flour, adding about 1/4 of chopped Pecans, and I sweetened with a swerve about the same amount as the butter. I did not bake it. I just mashed it into the pan and put it back in the fridge. It was great! For the cheesecake, i mixed a package of cream cheese with 2 cups of whip cream with a box of cheesecake flovored sugar-free jello, whipped until thick. After the pie was chilled, I melted butter with a little Agave vector, vanilla until brown, and added powdered swerve and roasted Pecans. This went on top. This pie was SO SO good! I also added salt to the topping.
This gives me an idea for an Almond tart I love to indulge in during the winter months, I think it's a German (that general area of Europe) dessert. The almond filling is cakey like your crust here, with a bit of raspberry puree and layered with almond slices. I'm totally going to try to do that with this crust recipe. 🥧
Not truly pie but last holiday season I made a keto pumpkin cheesecake that was divine! It was no bake and the crust was pecan meal with browned butter and Swerve. Yummy!!! 🥧
Just a suggestion. I used ground-up walnuts with some Almond flour to make some of my crusts. It turns out better. It's the same crust I use for my cheesecakes.
I've made this in the oven before, I did put it back in the oven for 5 or so minutes to toast off the pecans though and it was delish. Great vid as always girls, morning coffee with the keto twins is always the highlight of the day! ♥♥♥
While you're cooking your crust, i think I'd lay the pecans in a med-low skillet to get them lightly toasted. They should be lightly toasted within 3-5 min. Another pie I'd like to see is a fake apple pie = using one of those green squash thingys 😊 ❤ 🥧🍎🥧 Great video girls!! * i enjoy watching the successes & struggles. You keep it real ❤
@ . I’m not a fan of almond milk (I never use it or buy it) or flour (which I use occasionally) even though I like real almond nuts. But, between almonds and pecans……pecans rule! Lol. I use almonds in their original form…..a nut. Sliced is great.
Ladies, I love your videos. I'm so happy I finally found one right after you posted it, and on top of everything, it's for my all-time favorite pie. So much so, that whenever my mother asked me what cake I wanted for my birthday, she new I'd answer Pecan Pie. Keep doin' whacher doin'. 🥧
I agree, paper towel absorb the oils. I use a sandwich ziplock bag to spread butter or oil which also keeps your hand clean. ;-) Hmmm....where is the egg?
You said your dog got skunked. There is a perfect recipe online for this problem, only 3 ingredients. One quart hydrogen peroxide, one teaspoon dawn dishwashing liquid, and 1/4 cup baking soda. Mix well, apply to dog’s coat, and massage well. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse. Does not hurt your pet and COMPLETELY removes odor. If any order remains, repeat process. Our dog loved to chase skunks, so we used this numerous times, with excellent results. Take care. By the way, your channel changed our KETO lives, especially the chaffel recipe. Thanks for all you do.
I don't do keto exactly, but I do limit carbs to keep my a1c in check to limit the risk of type 2 diabetes. I love your videos. They give me lots of ways to adjust my food choices and still not feel like I'm missing out. Thank you! 🥧
Thank you for all your keto recipe tries. I just started keto a couple weeks ago and did not think I could keep eating like this because I love carbs and this kind of eating goes against everything I thought I knew about dieting. If it wasn't for your videos I would never have thought that I could continue with this diet. I have lost 9 lbs so far which is a drop in the bucket but now feel I can continue with your great videos. Love your taste testing. Keep up the great work.
I always watch till the end. That said, I'd toast the pecans either in a skillet or in the oven. You can use them in this recipe, or for an addictive snack, sprinkle a brown swerve and salt mixture while the pecans are still warm.
His picture to start was generated by AI. Watching his putting it together, it came out much different. But, we can all adjust recipes with our own level of experience. But, I watch him a lot too. He's funny and humble with being honest as these twins, Learning as they go... Thanks you 2!
Try a shortbread crust with coconut flour, melted butter (or oil) and some maple syrup. Blind bake for about 10 minutes or so. Then add your filling and bake as normal covering the crust edges so they don't burn.
I tried this recipe today. The crust was actually really good. But, I didn’t care for the pie filling. I’ll have to try using the crust in another recipe. Love watching your channel!
Don't put things in the centerr of your Microwave the cooking is most intense in the center so when you center your food you are more likely to burn the center of your food and have uncooked out sides. It is why your turn table turns. If your food is off center your food gets evenly cooked.
Yum. I make real pecan pie for Thanksgiving. I toast the pecans in butter & salt beforehand. Usually 8-10 min 350° oven. Stir halfway. Watch closely so you don't overcook them. Ovens vary so much. I toast walnuts in butter & salt too. Again watch closely. You won't believe how much better toasted nuts taste even in cookies. I use some vanilla &rum. Now I can have some keto pecan pie! Thank you!
🧁 I couldn’t find a pie emoji so I used a cupcake. Pecan is actually the easiest pie to make of all the pies. I do always make mine in the oven but other than preparing the crust, you just dump the rest of the ingredients into a bowl and mix them all together, folding in the pecans last. Then put them in the crust and bake between 40 and 50 minutes at 325. I will eat pecan pie any time of the year. It’s ambrosia to me. ❤
You guys are like Ethel and Lucy. Very candid and entertaining! Thanks for sharing thgis take on a classic. I'd work more on the crust for this recipe, reinforcing the Almond Flour with a bit of Coconut Flour and Golden Flaxseed, then docking it (as suggested previously). I would also cut back on the granulated Sweeteners to enhance these natural flavors rather than mask them. Of course, that is a matter of personal taste.
🥧 thanks for the demo! Looks good and I can see where I would adjust it for my preferences. Happy holidays coming up! Will be tough without your dad, but sharing memories helps ❤. Felt for your loss.
Great idea for the holidays. I'm from the Southern US where pecan pie one of the four food groups. Will definitely try. Why not avoid a lot of hassle and use the ingredients to make bars you can bake in the oven? I've had keto lemon bars that satisfy my craving for lemon meringue pie.
I enjoyed this video. Pecan pie is my absolute favorite pie ever! So I’m excited to try this because I just started my healthy eating journey in which I document every pot of this journey until I see my desired results, and unfortunately that means having to have a substitute thanksgiving this year. And I will of course test it first and then hopefully tag you guys in the outcome! 🎉 wish me luck 😂
🥧 This looks great! Want to try with Chayote Squash Mock Apple filling 😊. Also, thanks for pointing out that one pie is 2 servings. Have a great weekend.
Just spotted Charlie in the doorway❤ Since you aren't baking the pecans, maybe toast them first? Always add a little salt to sweet things, not necessarily to taste the salt (though sometimes yes enough to taste). S talt brings out the flavor. Mom told me that at least sixty years ago.🥧
🥧 That looks delicious, but I would make the crust thinner. I have found some keto pie recipes that the crust is made out of finely chopped nuts. I have not tried them, but do intend too.😊
I'm going to try this as a butter tart (using raisins instead of pecans). I know raisins aren't keto-friendly but I have SUCH a craving for butter tarts.
I haven't had the best of results with Joe's recipes. Have you checked out Cooking with Dave or Southern Keto? You ladies are awesome for trying the recipes for us. Many Blessings to you!
This looks yummy and a nice chandelier up from mug cakes. I would love to see more 5 min pie recipes or even cookies. Thanks so much ! A Pecan in disguise 🏉
I make a crustless Pecan Pie from Maria Emmerich - that is absolutely addicting. As well as her faux sweet potatoes. I make both of those for Thanksgiving for myself, since I am the only one on this lifestyle journey.
I have read, in a couple of places, that almond flour can be replaced with lupin flour. I have tried replacing half of the almond flour, in a couple of things, and it comes out just as good. I would appreciate what ya'll, the professionals, think.
The regular pecan pie takes a few ingredients. Especially with a store bought crust. A southern pecan pie is made with corn syrup. Usually the Karo brand. No matter what you to substitute that, it won't taste the same. I don't know where people get these recipes that aren't original and don't taste the same. Maple syrup? The entire pie is supposed to be baked after putting the ingredients in the crust. The pecans get toasted and the filling gets thick. Next time use an egg.

Ahhh darnit. Wish I would have seen this! Mine definitely did thanks for the tip!
My exact thoughts also, toast pecans first, will take away the rawness of the pecans!
Try a slightly salty crust. Sweet and salty are perfectly matched.
Especially with pecan pie because it is so sweet
Yes! Real piecrust is a bit salty, so a larger pinch of salt in this would be great.🥧
You can also used crushed pecans mixed with a little melted butter to make a crust. I can't wait to try this one! Thanks!!!
I do this. Makes a wonderful crust!

Thanks for the tip!
Yep, always a more even cook in the microwave if items travel in a wide circle on the rotating plate! Center = burn 🥲

Great idea!!
Deff make a thinner crust. Every yr I make a keto pumpkin pie with an almond flour crust or a pecan crust. It's delish!
Pumpkin pie is my all time favorite, would love a recipe!
Have you tried Victoria’s Keto Kitchen keto flour. You use it just like regular flour. She also has a keto pastry dough recipe.
Also a brown sugar

@esmith1771 Thanks! I could picture it in my mind, but I couldn't think of the name of ithat thing to save my life. 🙃
I remember them talking about it, a Choate squash? I think? I want to try growing those! Buy organic if I can find it.
I always watch to the end! 😁 Love pecan pie! Southern girl here!
🥧 Seeing Sarah try to cut through that crust is giving me life.
I’ll cook it in the toaster oven. I prefer cooked crust. I’ll use pecan four most likely. Thanks..looks good. ( hmmmm whipped cream! 👍)
@twinfin8571 ~ I thought about using Pecan Flour as well. I've successfully used it in my cheesecake crust recipe, too.
