By request from one of you, and a good one at that. Thank you! I've mentioned the amp a handful of times, but never really did a video directly talking about it. So in this video, I dive into it a little bit more and also throw my Randall RD1H in there as well. Hope you guys like the video, and thanks a lot for watching/showing the huge support!

I have a hard time wanting to support Peavy because of how they treated past employees that I know. But I love this freaking amp and it's gone a long way into helping me change my mind lol.

I've been jamming on this invective MH on my marshall 4x12 cab for 2 years now, on ONE WATT it is massively loud. Paired with EMG pickups, the sound is just unbelievable. Perfect for my little office/music room lol, I'm officially in LOVE with idea behind these mini tube heads, want an ENGL next.
The tone you get out of that little amp is so crushing. It gets the stankface going and the head nodding.
I seen a demo of the Randall 1w Diavlo and it sounded BEAST in the demo, so I bought one! Deadly little amp, and it was my 1st fully valve amp! Love it! :)
It's a great little monster for sure!
The 1 watt diavlo was also my first tube amp! Its a solid little practice amp! It does have limited settings that being said it makes it easy to dial in a good tone. It benifits a lot from a tube screamer. I also havent been playing it much lately since i got a 5150 though haha.
Had a rd5h was the best sound for home metal, and took a fz2 like a champ. Problem was it constantly screamed a high pitch squeal, even with out a guitar connected. It was broken the day I bought it, being old stock no replacement available. Bought a dark terror and miss the rd5h so much, but I haven't had any problems with the dark terror other than tone. Lol.
Thanks for the video on the Peavey head. I had seen them but never plugged into one.
I have been running thru a Laney Ironheart rack amp for a while and I am really happy with that amp.
Have several boutique amps as well so I have something for every mood I guess.
Yup 👍 good 2 have options (amps etc) you don't know what you're going to have to be running through at certain venues ... & not 4 a diff sound ,,, just 4 more than one way 2 get it ... Good one ...
Just swapped my Fishman Moderns to SD Nazgul/Sentient active mounts on my Schecter Elite 7-string last week. I'm happy! Chug life!
Great vid. I have the 120 version and just added an MXR 6 band eq and and it makes it even better. Just something to try for anyone interested
Sounds great. I have two Peavey's a 6505 and a Rage 158. The US made Rage from the 90s. Has some pretty gnarly distortion.

I’m late to this party but , the 440 cabs seem to be a highly recommended company. Everyone who has one loves it. Appreciate the time and effort for the video on the amps.. came for the amp knowledge and got some bonus cab knowledge 🤘
I've had my Invective for a couple months now and for high gain stuff it's absolutely killer, even for 7 or 8 string stuff. It doesn't have much head room even at 20w though, even with the pre-gain turned down to 1 you still get quite a bit of breakup and distortion. So for a crunch, classic rock/blues rock tone (It also has an incredible clean channel, I prefer it to the Invective clean channel) I got a Victory "The Jack" pre amp and it is perfect with the Invective. The clean channel is also great.

I tried out the 1 watt one before at GC. It was hooked up to a Orange 2x12. I was floored on the sound! Very modern gainy sounding.

Hi Kevin! Having this amp for almost a year now, my experience is that the low end wont be so punchy with the post gain that low. I’d recommend getting for example an Torpedo Captor which will attenuate the amp by -20db which will allow you to push the power tubes more to get that low end you are missing. The captor sounds fantastic too since it’s a reactive load. They are not expensive either. I got one and it was the best investment since I wanted the amp sound as best as It can. Made a big difference. :) Cheers!

I debated on getting one of these or the PRS MT15 but ended up snagging a Mesa Mini Rectifier instead….I can’t recommend the Mesa mini enough. It’s loud enough to gig with and sounds good for bedroom levels. The low end is surprisingly relevant too. I do wish it had a built in noise gate like the Peavy. (super convenient)
I have both the PRS MT-15 and Mini Rec, I will say this the Rectifier is just sick and the build quality is top notch, the PRS is amazing as well and would imo be even better than the rec cept for two problems, the gain is too high (blasphemy I know) and in 4CM the fx loop is crap. Both killer but I agree the mini is just amazing.

The rest of my amps get less play since I got the invective 120. I wonder if the mh is thinner at low post gain settings and thicker at higher settings...or if they left that nuance out of the mh. Awesome amp you've got on your hands. I love how precise the invective is. I've found it to be great in mixes with hardly any post tbh

I recently got the Peavey 6505 MH, it sounds killer and not very expensive, I paid ~500 bucks for it. Truly awesome piece of gear.
I don't know the exact cost since I'm in Sweden, it was 4960SEK and I really have no idea what it would go for in the US
They're holding right around $400 to $500 bucks US on the used market. So they've even come up too. Last year I seen them going for as little as $350. Glad you're happy with it!
You know I just thought, you might get better low end if you drop the watts down to 1w so it will push the tubes and power tubes at lower volume. I know that happened to me with another amp I had, and it worked! Try dropping the watts down bro! Cause with the master turned down your not pushing the tubes that hard so that will result in the amp being less on the low end. But it sounds killer man! I’m about to order this amp

Lol that's the entire reason he developed the line, the rawness of this amps power though, is tremendous.
I too have 3 mini heads, a 6505 MH, an EVH 5150III STEALTH LBX, and a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister deluxe 20.... they're all fantastic for different reasons and tones, but for the most gorgeous cleans, the H&K is simply unbeatable.
For high gain with low punch, the EVH, and for high gain ball to the wall with that special secret sauce , it's the 6505 all day (however, it does require an EQ to boost the low end. I use an MXR 10 band).
What's next you ask? Well certainly I want a few, but the next is going to be a toss of a coin between the mini rectifier (Mesa) and the ENGL Ironball 20w.
But I also want this amp as well as the PRS MT 15 lol.
What can I say? I love gear.
I put one JJ high gain tube in mine and use a mud killer pedal sounds awesome. The JJ high gain 12AX7 sounds beefier and you only need the one tube but if you try changing all the 12AX7 tube with JJ high gain tubes it will be overkill and not sound great. It's great for the rhythm channel for 6505 mh as well.

Honestly you aren't missing much with the USB out. It's decent, serviceable if you aren't into plugins, but since you know your way around them I bet you'll already be getting way better tone in your DAW. I think the USB out is the same as the emulated line out, which is super dark and not very dynamic. Great to have in a pinch or for FOH, just not as good as a well-dialed VST or a real cab. 🤙
I agree this amp fell short on the direct out feature and was my whole reason for purchasing it! it needs some cab options like the redox feature on the hughes and Kettner gm 40 deluxe!!! that amp has a great direct out feature but doesn't have the bite that the invective has for high gain dgent.

I had the gfx version of the same type of amp! Crate made some decent cheap amps, hated the distortion on it so always had a trusty digitech pedal on hand
Dude, crazy. I bought a crate GFX1200 head back in 2000, and then used a Digitech RP300A and gigged every weekend for 3 years straight. Worked awesome for the most part.

So the 6505 212 combo was too loud, but this invective isn't? Just asking cause I'm in a similar situation, I've always been a solid state guy but I did have a fender hot rod 40watt tube and I couldn't turn that bitch past 1 and it was still way too loud.
I just wish it had better power amp tubes

I find the presence on peaveys and evhs are better off, too much high end, awesome amps though, smooth lead tones but tight rhythm tones.
