      I always loved this car, and really wish there was an analog today. If the Panorama had a little brother (like the Cayenne has the Macan) it would be a 968 or similar vehicle. If I had silly money to toss around, I'd pull the guts from a Turbo Cayenne, and make a 968 AWD V-8 Turbo.

    • @wh909
      @wh909 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@texmex9721 The cayenne engine is too tall and does fit. There's plenty of V8 swaps on 944s/968s but you're better off turboing the car to keep the weight distribution.

    • @texmex9721
      @texmex9721 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@wh909 So A Chevy V8 is short and fits but a Porsche V8 is tall? Pull the other leg. Not trying to be an internet jerk here, but you have to think logically about this. The 4 cylinder in a 944 or 968 is one of the tallest engine designs out there as the cylinders are straight up and down. The V8 leans them to the side and gets shorter and wider, not taller. Now with more vertical room in a Cayene, they may have given it a deeper oil sump or taller intake, but that can be altered.

    In terms of styling, practicality, characteristic and the naturally aspirated motor, I love the Porsche 968, the handling, near-perfect weight distribution, the naturally aspirated engine's horsepower and torque numbers, the gearbox and it's dynamics, even though the base price was over 30 thousands dollars/pounds, I still prefer this car over the 911.😍

    The best front engined Porsche ever made. I owned a 944 Turbo and although was fast, it was a maintenance nightmare. The turbo and vacuum lines were very complicated. The larger NA four cylinder in the 968 makes it the best. I want one!

      I'm with the above two folks, my first car at 16 was a pretty mint '87 944 N/A and drove the wheels off of it. Regular Maintenance, it can apparently take a lot of abuse from a much younger me. I ended up trading for a '92 Miata for little brother and I miss it so badly! Here in Appalachia either car's amazing on our back roads but I'm on the hunt trying to track down either my old one or a nice used one to be my corner carver at Deal's Gap!

    Im a sucker for all the transaxle cars Porsche made, i have two 928 S4”s and they are head turners everyday i drive them. Cars will speed up or slow down to look at it while I’m driving. Or if I’m coming out of a store cars will drive by it and stare at it. This generation of cars is what has made Porsche today. Got the company ready for all other cars that weren’t flat 6’s.

      Telling Fat to Fork Itself, transaxle is correct here. The transmission and rear axle are housed together, as in trans-axle.

    the 968 made the 924 look german rather than a datsun but its still another shit 911

    • @rars0n
      @rars0n 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This comment makes no sense. How exactly does the 968 make the 924 look "German?" Didn't the 924 already look "German?" Are you saying that at one point, you thought the 924 looked like a Datsun? If so, you need your eyes checked.
      Also, it's not a 911, it's got a water-cooled engine up front. Do you know what a 911 is?

    • @paulhunter123
      @paulhunter123 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      no the 924 didnt look german because it had pop up lights. Pop up lights are not a vintage german look ie beetle 911. Thats why the 928 968 has pop up lights that are round and exposed to look like a beatle 911. Hell they gave the 911 pop up lights., it didnt look like a 911 no more. The porsche brand is very limited to if its not 911 looking its not a real porsche.

    • @rars0n
      @rars0n 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, so now you're moving the goal posts, you're talking about "vintage" German appearance? I'm not even sure what that means.
      The slant-nose 911 looks like a 911 to me. It just has different headlights. Whatever you think makes a 911 look like a 911 is not what makes a 911 look like a 911.
      "The porsche brand is very limited to if its not 911 looking its not a real porsche." I cannot decipher what this sentence is intended to mean, at all. Are you saying that non-911 Porsches are somehow not "real" Porsches? The Cayman isn't a "real" Porsche? You have a lot of bad opinions about cars, obviously, and an incredibly poor grasp of the English language as well.

    • @paulhunter123
      @paulhunter123 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      no you just need to re watch the video - as the man says the 968 gave the 944 924 car - a more traditional Porsche appearance. I dont know how to make this easier for you to understand. Have you heared of the VW BUG?

    • @rars0n
      @rars0n 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't need to rewatch the video, you need to learn how to type sentences that make sense. First you said that the 924 looked like a Datsun, which it doesn't. Then you called the 968 a "shit 911," which it isn't. Then you claimed that all vintage German cars look like Beetles, which they don't. Then you created some sort of mythical "beatle 911" (sic) car. I have no clue what that is, by the way. Then you wrote the sentence which I previously quoted, which still makes no sense.
      Again, you could make this easier to understand by having coherent thoughts and typing them out in complete sentences. Every single comment you've made contradicts a previous one that you made. So until you can figure out how to express your thoughts properly, I'm going to continue wondering what exactly the fuck you're talking about.
      The funniest part about this is you started off complaining about pop-up headlights. And yet, both this car AND the 928 have pop-up headlights.
