    "By socializing, I don't mean letting people come touch your dog, pet your dog...Socializing to me is being around people...So they don't have to be super friendly, but they do have to know to remain neutral around crowds and people"

      Absolutely socializing your dog to behave in all situations saves the dogs life if they bite something they could be put down to me a dog without fear and good manners good health and no hip problems is a must for all of that...I mean to me a beautiful dog don't have to be a show type looking dog for it to be perfect in my eyes I like the bigger than average but temperament health and confidence is my check list

      I agree 💯% with the socialization of the dog staying neutral around crowds and people and not allowing random people just come touch the dog, I feel that it could mess with the protection side of training.

    I love him dearly and although he's a powerful Presa Canario and an amazing guard dog he's also a loved family couch potato, ive taught sit stay give paw but i didn't want a dog thats hard to control etc so i dont allow any kind of aggression towards anything or anyone, all i allow is him to bark if the door bell goes, he's a BIG goofball and a genuine ambassador for the breed to prove these dogs CAN be goofy family pets if you raise them with love and discipline.....!

Would this mix be considered a bandog? He's a beast. I love him. I believe he's a bit taller than the pure bred presas and a little lighter. Super athletic and strong. • @CompleteK9Canada
      @CompleteK9Canada 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@jfkst1 unfortunately bandogs nowadays are being bred by so many from not so great blood. So many purchase them for protection and find out they are just not what they are hyped up to be. Just like most protection type breeds. What I found in the few presas I did have and 1 presa x ab was incredible nerves from day 1, no fear periods at all. Nerves are probably the hardest thing to breed for in any breed and definitely lacking in mastiff types. The presa reminds me of a perfect bull mastiff type. Drivey and tenacious like a bulldog with similar gripping traits and a good amount of defense. I found they were easy to do protection with, and didn’t require lots of building up like some of the other breeds I have owned and shut off nicely when done.

    The Fci is based in Brussels but the standard was written in Spain, and translated into English by Spanish people. Dogo Canario and Presa Canario are the same breed. I guess piebald was always in the breed, those dogs are just not shown but are being bred so that's why the colour keeps popping up. Blue probably comes from cane corso, neo, great dane or amstaff

    The problem is there is no good stop in the US I have foundnyet. As soon as you see dogs 130lbs plus that is a red.flag poor stock. Also when get above 120 you can tell.as they have too much mastic and have blocked her mo e Came like head and the loose the angeled beauty of a real presas head. Press males ,no secret, should be around 110 or so. ALL working breeds when actually used originally are never.more than 110=120 at the outside most. Over that they are no good as working dogs, interior protection being to big, lacking stamina and agility.

    Form must always follow Function. A dog must possess the physical attributes, sound orthopedics, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular development, proper dentition, appropriate coat, tolerance of ambient temperature ranges and extremes to which it will be exposed, and of course temperament to effectively perform the critical demands and essential functions that it will encounter both routinely and occasionally. A Live Stock Guardian Dog should possess an advanced Defense Drive, but not a Prey Drive, whereas, dogs used as attack dogs generally possess an advanced Prey Drive that is used to train and facilitate the Attack.

    Just lost my 12st pressa to heat stroke ,in England we don't usually get temperatures over 80 and we have just had a heat wave near 100° and even though I didn't take her out in the day, she was allowed to go in and out as she pleases, it's broken me I'm hurting hard ,raised her from 7 weeks, she was only 3 and just got her perfect and she had found her place .
    I'm a master carpenter/joiner and I can build, fix,modify most things but I couldn't fix and repair my big girl got her perfect, she was badass and she's gone for ever ,never coming back and I can't do anything to change it still hoping to wake up from a really bad dream. Anyway your knowledge is class and watching your videos, I've learned hell of a lot from you.

    Good video,,,!!! [ In Gran Canaria had dogs with no white color at all,in Tenerife island cause of the crosses the dogs came up with white colors],The working line presas do not have white color ecxept on the chess,only show line dogs have.Also the show line dogs are bigger cause in Tenerife didnt care for the traditional stamina but they wanted to make bigger dogs,In Gran Canaria they keep the traditional line cause they didnt care about the size,they only wanted dogs for works and fights and protections from wild animals,thinks that show line presas dont have as mush as working lines,Keep up the good work and show us good videos !! Also is the best dog breed for me too my friend !!!But the problem with those white dog's are crossed with dogo Argentino, bully kutta and Asian shepherds . None of those dog's came from old lines that makes them not presas canarios. This breed was established in the late 70's and the white from those lines are gone. Only was accepted 30 % of white in the chess and in the fingrers of the legs. What is the line?
    It is a family of dogs selected for particular characteristics or unique characteristics that define them. You can not say your line until you are bred for specific traits for a few generations,!!!!!

    One rhing to consider is that the canary islands are well, islands xd presas are breed both in gran canaria and Tenerife and the lines are historically different but yes, the majorero is the foundation of them both. As I got it explained at least in Tenerife where my uncle lives there are two types known as coastal, with thinner hair and more like a bull like dog and mountain or rustic that are more mastiff like with thicker hair and all.

    I watch these videos of the Presa, Dogo, & Tosa etc and they always say they add Bull & Terrier to the when in actuality what they added was the American Pitbull Terrier to give what the PITBULL has that no other dog has "GAMENESS" give credit where credit is Due!

      In addition to the Cordoba Dog, at least nine other dog breeds were eventually mixed into what we now know as the Dogo Argentino. These other breeds include the Irish Wolfhound, Bull Terrier, Boxer, Old English Bulldog, Great Dane, Pyrenean Mastiff, Dogue de Bordeaux, Spanish Mastiff, and the English Pointer.

      Bull and terrier is the original pit bull terrier. Remember that they looked for functionality and not looks, so there was no limit in size, colors could vary, and the amount of white terrier traits and bull dog traits varied from one individual to the next. Back then any cross between a white terrier and a bull dog that could fight was deemed acceptable. Today's pit bull comes from that. So credit is given correctly and with historical accuracy

    This is why I love the presa canario. It has such a unique background and I love the temperament. Docile, protective, very intelligent, great with kids THEYRE the perfect dog for me. I don’t think there’s a mastiff breed better than the presa canario in my opinion besides the boerboel. I love the cane corso but they’ve been over bred and they have boxer in them and I’m not interested in that. The presa canario sticked with its original roots and traits and that’s what I love about the breed 🔥🔥
