    I'm those guy when a game got released and everyone got excited
    'hey, on which platform you will play this?'
    'youtube' hahaha
    So the same happen when it's about high-end flight sim gear setup, lol. I really enjoy this build and play it on my second monitor while working/eating.
    Thanks!

    Many many thanks for your videos !
    It's great to know what is happening inside your base before even open it !
    After a lot of tests i brought the Orion 2 F16EX combo to my likings.
    Pitch axe : NC-1S cam with medium spring, damping kit greased with just a bit tension (very light) (refueling never was easier)
    Roll axe : NC-ARC cam with medium spring

      I could tell from the video that you are no fan of the no center cams.
      If you are like precision flight the no center cams is a revelation.
      I discovered that when i changed the AviaSim cams from the standard soft center to the no center ones in my WarBRD base.
      Air to air refuelling, formation flying became 10 times easier at once.
      And i have my Deadzones and Curvature to O's, now that i am experienced after countless hours of training and top quality controllers.
      in my WarBRD Mongoos T-50CM2 combo I use in the pitch axe no center cam with heavy springs and in the roll axe no center cam with standard springs.
      Virpil's springs are on another lever.

      @@PanosIvRS yeah I am well aware of the mechanics behind it all. It's about feel. The NS cans feel sloppy, I hate them on dual cam sticks. Remember that the CM3 is not a dual cam stick so that's different. Dual cam sticks don't center well because of their design. I'll have a Virpil CM3 in a month or so

    Have this and the Orion 2 throttle with F/A 18 grips with finger lifts on order. I am a bit worried that it’s coming from China, and a bit apprehensive should any of it develop a fault and then have to return it (with postage costs etc!). But from what I have heard they do try to help you resolve and send the parts needed. Which I don’t mind because that normally resolves it sooner. Have experienced this kind of service from credible sim racing gear manufacturers.

    • @FalconsLedge
      @FalconsLedge  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have an Orion 1 with F-18 grips, I'll likely pick up some finger lifts for the O2 to use the F-18 grips with it.
      My recommendation on support would be to rely on the community as much as possible, the HOTAS/HOSAS discord is good, and is in my video descriptions. I frequent those groups too.
      I haven't had an interaction with customer service yet. I have had interactions with VKB Customer service and when going through their discord its great. They are also located in china.

    Good grief that throttle rail seemed like it took some tweaking. I suppose it's trickiest the first time but even still,, the prospect of hotswapping handles isn't SUPER alluring but neither is the cost of having a dedicated handle on separate throttle bases.

    • @FalconsLedge
      @FalconsLedge  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does take some adjustment to get it right the first time, I'll be doing a video swapping the F-18 grips on. If the rail doesn't have to be removed, that will be great!

    Did you pay for it or was it given to you free to review? Browsing the DCS and MSFS channels I see nothing but complaints from anyone that actually paid for one with their hard earned money.

    • @FalconsLedge
      @FalconsLedge  ปีที่แล้ว

      I paid for this myself.
      It has pros and cons.
      It really comes down to what you do. If you fly a specific model of plane in DCS, and that's what you want to do. I think WW has a good solution for this.
      If you fly a variety and you want a one size fits all solution. Then you have some other choices that would be better.
      If you are a "bang for your buck" person, I'd go with the gladiator NXT and STECS mini from VKB.
      If you want to spend more consider the Gunfighter 4 and STECS standard, or a Virpil warbrd-d/CM3 and associated throttle instead.

    regarding the warthog connector:
    The warthog uses a mini-din-5 connector, which is not the same as for ps/2 mouse and keyboard. The orion uses a mini-din-6 connector, which happens to be the same as what ps/2 uses. mini-din-5 and mini-din-6 cannot physically connect, so compatability between orion and warthog parts would if possible require some form of adapter.

    You can pull a little of the cable out from the main body of the throttle to alleviate the tension. It's not well advertised, but there is some slack in the cable, you just have to pull it out a ways.

    Someone that doesn't have access to that 767a grease, with Teflon tape be sufficient. Or Vaseline simple Vaseline. I've seen you can use Teflon but they did not specify Teflon tape. Or is there a special Teflon grease? The reason why I asked it will be specifically for helos or Hilo is my natural habitat in life and in DCs. Of course we're flying the DCS Apache and Huey's of such not the actual US army due to primary logistics. There are some bugs in there. Also, as far as the mods on DCS. Hopefully they'll get that worked out. I pull a 180 in the Apache and it wants to freaking drop to the ground even with full collective. I'm using the same demonstration and I do have the dampeners now. I just want to know if it'd be proficient to use Teflon tape. Just wrap it once and slide it back in. Or simple thin Vaseline cuz I don't have that type of Grease. What are your thoughts?

    Trying to decide between the VKB nxt evo with the winwing Orion 2 throttle, or the Orion 2 throttle with the F16EX stick, what one do you recommend? (All of them stock, I really don’t want to spend $50 for a set of dampeners for the F16EX)

    • @FalconsLedge
      @FalconsLedge  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The NXT EVO is a great stick, king of the mid range. But Once you get into the territory of comparing a plastic gimbal (interior of the stick base) to a plastic one. I've got to go with the metal. I've been using it a lot, I'm currently filming for the Pedals review, and it is a very good stick. If it were between the EVO and the F-16EX stick, I'll go with the F-16EX any day. Going between the Gunfighter MK.III and the F-16Ex, now there is a much more complicated comparison. One that I will certainly make.

    Is the accuracy and feel of the VKB Gladiator EVO NXT same as the Orion 2 flight stick with dampers? You had a very positive review of the EVO NXT.

    • @FalconsLedge
      @FalconsLedge  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those two sticks are not in the same category. The Evo is the better bang for your buck, but the Orion is going to last longer. It is all metal whereas the Evo is all plastic. The Orion 2 competes with the gunfighter mk3. The Gunfighter in terms of feel and damping is far superior. The damping in the Orion stick is not very good.

    • @FalconsLedge

    The center feeling loose has nothing to do with the springs, that is an issue related to the profile of the cams. I believe it comes with a very shallow center detent cam installed.

    • @FalconsLedge
      @FalconsLedge  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I'm aware of the can being a no center cam. My no center cams on my other sticks don't feel extremely loose in the center. I find the Orion 2 to be overall under-sprung even with the largest springs. Some more preload might help, but that isn't adjustable.
      I'm not saying it's a bad stick, just calling it how I see it.

    I believe the dampener should come with the base being that they put the hardest spring and cam with the f16ex. No reason why I should have to pay $100 for a camset with dampeners. Dampeners create a dead stick for Helo pilots. United States Navy 89 to 96 cv67 carrier went to reserves 94. So now in DCS the reason why this should be a dead stick for Helo pilots is pilot fatigue. You can't get 100% forward speed with the initial setup shipped to you. No option cams came with or dampener for both axis to act as a dead stick for Helo flight. Over $500 and a $5 dampener which I have to purchase an entire camset to get. That's not a good thing. The product is great. Customer service is outstanding. But the simple ability to swap over to a standard to a dead stick is unavailable. And for WW not knowing the initial purpose, whether it be for jet or for helos should at least send the dampeners. That is my only complaint. To that I'm circumventing other high-end top shelf contractors. So I don't have to pay $150 USD for $0.50 dampeners USD. 🤔
