Nope, not only hate you are getting for this video. But a lot of subscribers. One good example is me. The only gripe I have is, coming in as a person that never had any joysticks, please in the end, just a little conclusion, which ones would you reccommend then, what makers?
Winwing Ursa Minor (2 for space, or pair with TWCS from TM for air. If you want to spend a bit more can go VKB Gladiator. But for best bang for your buck, Winwing Orion 2
I have had the flight seat pro for about half a year. I purchased the stand recently, though I haven't taken it out of the box yet. I currently only do space sims, but want to do some MSFS next year.
I just purchased one today, thank you for making easy for me to decide 👍👍👍
Are thrustmaster flight sticks any good?
T16k Is not good, better for the money than Logitech if you ask me, but still not good. TMWH is a good device but it is VASTLY overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than 299 for the HOTAS, not just the stick, but the whole HOTAS when it comes to WH. If you are paying Warthog money go Winwing or VKB. (WW being the better value) AVA is good, but lacks some features because of a bad design around the damper, but unfortunately the grips are VERY overpriced. 249 for those grips is pretty bad 149 would be appropriate.
Hi good morning, what do you recommend for $250-$300?? Thats all I can afford now.
If you fly space, two Winwing Ursa minors. One can be configured as a throttle If you fly both. If you only got aviation, buy a Winwing Ursa and a TM TWCS throttle, that is a significantly better setup for the same price or less
Hi, I did not receive any nuts or bolts with mine bought off ebay and seller won't help. would anyone know what size nut and, bolts and screws and how many i need? would love to get these mounts together and start flying.
I don't have a listing of them unfortunately
Skywalker amazing pedals
Sounds like you hate them. Why not just refund?
Just because you point out flaws in a device doesn't mean you hate them, it's called being a reviewer. I know, you are used to many other reviewers that say almost exclusively positive things, they aren't reviewers, they are promoters. The next grips Virpil is releasing the "Aero" series actually seems to address the ergo issues to some degree. So we'll see how it goes
@@FalconsLedge Reviewing is fine, but still you were shitting all over them. You didn't explain your reasoning for keeping them even though you seem to hate them.
@krazyivan007 1. I went over both positives and negatives. 2. I sold it. Have an awesome day.
I have used the x56 for a couple years now I really don't have any complaint other than the omni-sticks being utterly useless to me but that's mostly because the most serious "flight" game that I've played is elite dangerous. But I don't believe its right to try and compare it to virpil after all those products are full metal and designed by pilots and are four times the price of the x56. Now to be fair I do have small palms and long skinny fingers which allows me to place my hand higher on the stick without discomfort. But as one comment stated there really isn't a H.O.T.A.S market at the same price point so taking that into consideration its difficult for me to agree that its a bad setup because there isn't a "good" one at the same price. But it is nice to see that not everyone has the same opinions on it allowing others to make a more thoughtful purchase.
Hi there, it looks like you may not have looked at currently available products there are great solutions available for even less than an X56 like the Ursa minor, just as one example. Also, I never compared this device to virpil. There is absolutely no reason to buy an X56 in 2024, it a horribly inaccurate device that is extremely low quality from a dead ecosystem from a company that doesn't care about your hobby. Have a great day.
I saw somewhere that you can make it that when stick go up it will stay in position but when goes down it will return to center. So when using it as throttle it will remain in forward speed, but when going backward it will return to stop. how to do that ?
Yeah I've seen that mod out there, I don't have any pics of it but what you essentially do is attach a spring only to one arm of the pincer, and attach the other to the body of the gimbal
@@FalconsLedge Yeah I just found out some guy using the Y X-axis block plate so the buttom of the Y spring attached to that. But of course you wouldn't be able to lock X axis anymore But in my case I don't need to coz I'm using it for Star Citizen. X axis is needed for strafing
well.... is not actually for me> I'm currently using T16000+TWCS. But I just bought a pair of VKB for my older brother. He play SC alot
@r2artCH they do great for SC!
@@FalconsLedge I know, I do lot of research b4 buying. The reason for me not to get one for my self is that I play other flying games too. But My brother only play Space sims
*Me watching this video 5min after ordering one*
Return it. Trust me. I did.
so what you saying just buy 6 of them fo all eventualities :)
@@davidrenton or buy two and you can configure them however you need ;)
SC with the original BF 1942 theme playing...a heavenly combo
Gotta love bf1942 tunes!
Very good video man. I own a Saitek x52 Pro from way back in 2017 and have just upgraded to a pair of VKB Gladiator NXT Evos this month and oh boy the difference between the quality is night and day. I'm really loving these VKBs.
great choice!
ive found a deal for 450usd for the warthog, would it be worth it to buy it? or are there any better options in the similar price range?
Absolutely not. You can have an all metal Winwing setup that is better for that
IMO in 2024 warthog should not be priced over $299. Plastic internals just make it absolutely not worth it
@@FalconsLedge well what would you recommend?
@herthakbar if your budget is 450, best value is Winwing Metal warthog
Thanks for helping sort my thinking (some. LoL)
Thank you very much, I love to be able to help!
Well. I'm stuck. First of all, I'll acknowledge your very consistent views re: X56. Part of the issue is that it ends up being categorized as costing $250, when at times it is discounted. Now being one of those times. So I'll try to put my struggle here in hopes you will aid my decision. So, iirc you thought if Logi sold the throttle by itself, that might be worthwhile. It so happens I have a couple lightly used Logi Force 3D about. I took a break from gaming for a while & am frankly shocked FF isn't ubiquitous & is only now making a comeback (WTAF $$$). Trying SWSquadrons, I decided I'd rather have more buttons, though I freaking love my stick & given I'm not about to spend the mad money, nor do I have the space for a full rig, I'm really REALLY torn. You, among others, have made a convincing case for the Ursas but I think they look cheap. They do at least have rumble though, which the Orion2 setup at the top end of what I'm considering also has, and would likely outlast the rest mentioned, but I don't understand, and I wish reviewers covered, how it would set up and function for rudder, as I have no interest in pedals. I'd probably prefer the HOTAS to the HOSAS. Bottom line, nothing is checking all the boxes for me. So my options, as I see them: 1. X56 & just swap the stick ($170) 2. The Ursa HOSAS pair. ($230) 3. An Ursa Orion2 set ($430) more than I wanted to pay plus no rudder twist. I suppose theoretically there's 4. The VKB Gladiator pair which would come in around ($330)? but no rumble even & I'm unsure if you can set left to a non-centering HOTAS-like setup the way you can with the Ursa Minors. So I'm plopping that down in your lap & see what you figure bc I am right stuck. What say you?
FFB was held back by a patent that expired a couple years ago. It will gain some market share now.
There is no rudder setup for Orion 2 at this time. They once offered a z axis module, but it's not been available for some time. Orion is geared towards aviation with pedals. In terms of Ursa it is certainly not high end in quality but it absolutely dominates Logitech in quality, it's not even close.
VKB gladiators are great, but no free shipping so it will be almost 400. Orion 2 is an amazing value. For space dual stick is best. So the Ursa pair is a great value. X56 throttle is ok, but not great. I'd buy two ursas over the x56 throttle any day.
@@FalconsLedgeThanks very much for the super quick reply. Appreciate it. I was under the impression people mapped a hat to rudders but it wasn't actually specified anywhere. I really wish the Ursa minor buttons didn't look like such garbage, but I guess I'll probably just grit my jaw. Do you think the left space stick would work alongside my good ole Wingman Force?
@TheTawniest i mean, there is the shaker kit that has a thumb stick, and that would work.
just buyed a combo of them two days ago, hopefully they arive soon :D
It is hardly a con having the copied gimble is it?
@@Niallistical sure, I'd love to have seen them innovate, so it's a con, how much of a con depends on your point of view
@FalconsLedge They conned VKB sure. But con as a downside to the product is ridiculous.
Awesome, so there is your point of view ;)
What is the downside to owning the WinWing with a copied gimble? Does it decrease the performance? Mine is still in transit. I fail to see any cons associated with that as an end consumer. The price is low, performance is very good. These are mot subjective opinions. Hard facts.
@Niallistical no it's totally fine
Can anyone tell me how this grip feels in your hand, by which I mean the ergonomics, and reach of the buttons compares to a TM Warthog? I keep buying these expensive grips from other companies like Virpil and WingWing and keep going back to my Warthog because it's the only one that feels right in my hand. I can easily reach all the buttons without MOVING my hand. The VPC sticks for example I have to move my hand around the on the stick to reach all the buttons, and I'd say I have medium to large size hands.
@@JohnVanderbeck the Mcgu is larger than the WH. IMO for someone who likes the WH grip, the WW F16EX will be a good solution for you
@@FalconsLedge Was looking at this for the pinky axis. I've got a few WW items and never been very happy with thier company
@JohnVanderbeck Mcgu is great, but certainly for large hands
Hey your opener welcome page says, "Winwing skywalker rudder pedal review." Thought i was on the wrong video at first. Just had to let you know. Thanks for the time and content you make for us.
Had the X56 three times now, QC is terrible. ALL X56s WILL BREAK IN THE SAME PLACE all it takes is time. The right throttle has a SEVERE weakpoint where the throttle meets the sliding portion of the throttle. The sitck and throttle both give ghost imputs regardless of power. Its a great low cost starter stick and throttle. Otherwise this is number 3 and im at a point now where im having to look at other combos because i play a combination of star citizen and MSFS.
Just wondering if the stick is a twist grip or if you need other rider controls?
@@gofres will need pedals with this one, it's mostly an aviation grip
@FalconsLedge just ordered the Orion 2 with 15 throttle and Hog stick. Great deal at £350! So I bought the peddles too 😁 Now I'm scared of what the import taxes will be but that's a problem I can ignore for now 😂
great video ! how can i find the mod and print it ?
@@pedropires1686 www.thingiverse.com/thing:6061041
Thanks for the review. Very informative :)
I’m very confused. My VKB Gladiator NXT base does not have an adjustment for clutch / resistance. Only spring replacement.
@@Embarkation1 because this is an NXT EVO, not just an NXT like you have
@ I guessed as much. From the website, I believe I can just buy the be new base to upgrade it.
Orion is an easy S tier, well done on the review
@@DanielDrake look forward to doing the high tier with you, way more fun
i got this stick around 2 weeks ago, also the premium version. one thing i can tell you is that the red button i use as a WPN REL button feels extremly empty, while the expand/fov buttons (the on in the front) feels thoccy and nice
@@POLSKIKAJAK yep, but this isn't a price of stick where I'm going to be really judgemental about it. It's worlds better than sticks like the X56.
as a vkb gladiator owner that used alot of ball and cup gimbal joysticks, i have to say the difference is immaculate (i've gone through 2 tm airbus sticks in a year thru regular use, whilst maintaining them)
Gladiator is certainly a ton better than anything logitech makes.
Noob question: can I rotate the "space" stick by 90 degrees so that it looks more like a helicopter collective?
@@vrflightguyinpjpants5023 i rotated the whole base forward and used the straight stick adapter. You can't rotate the grip on the adapter, so I don't think what you are considering will work.
@@FalconsLedge So, I can buy the straight premium stick and mount it at an angle then. Does the "space stick" version has all the clutches, etc to convert it to a throttle?
@vrflightguyinpjpants5023 yes both have the same features, just one is at an angle. I bought the straight stick and Ota adapter together
@@FalconsLedge Thanks. I think I have a desk mount which can mount at an angle lying around somewhere. Where can I find extension for the stick, can't find any at Etsy.
@vrflightguyinpjpants5023 3d printed are available but not recommended, it is not designed to use extensions
Next time please don't put something in s tier and then move it after i think thats kinda shitty for people just trying to get the bottom line
@Smood47 it stayed S Tier dude.
Vkb still the best value for money
@juanalejandrosotto6217 metal internals matter. And $40 more for all metal is a massive value. The gladiator is good, but since WW went free shipping, they are without a doubt the value king right now.
The winwing ursa blows the nxt out of the water in buttons and haptic. It is the same cam system on the inside with newer processor. You can also print better hats for it. The nxt should also have been on the entry level stick.
The NXT didn't fit into the price values. I couldn't justify a $200 stick as entry level (shipping included)
@rodrigofarruguia1708 also having owned both ursa and nxt (the first Ursa outside of Winwing) it doesn't dominate, in fact in several respects the NXT is better.
I think another big issue with the winwing Orion 2 is that it doesn’t have a twisting feature which can be a deal breaker for a lot of people without ruder pedals
I will never hold that against a replica stick. O2 is a replica stick of aircraft, which don't have twist. That's one of those things that is a nice to have if you need it, otherwise a total non factor.
@@FalconsLedge yeah, but a lot of people who are in the market for getting it probably don’t care that much about it being a replica, and on subreddits it seems like one of the main factors pushing people towards the vkb gladiator over the Orion 2 is the lack of twist capability
@mrcat5508 I don't disagree that it wouldn't help it, is just not something I'm going to hold against it considering it's intended use case
@@FalconsLedge fair enough, I just think that as a mid tier HOTAS, a twist stick is still pretty important because not many people in that price range have rudder pedals, but the Orion 2 is also in a bit of a weird price range where it’s kind of high mid price range to low high end, so I can see why they didn’t include a twist, especially because it’s supposed to be replica
@mrcat5508 cost/complexity/intended use, but also at the time they offered a z axis module you could add
Great video. Nailed it. I have owned and still do too many sticks and throttles and love the Winwing brand overall. I've never had an issue with them and had them for a few years now.
I had the x-55 and I completely agree with your review of the x56. I really like my nxt but it seems to have connectivity issues and needs to be replaced. Very disappointing because I have it for 3-4 years of very lightly use and the shipping for this kind of thing can cost third to half the cost so replacing them frequently is a real pain... Looking forward to your top tier video!
Thank you for the VOD. Great Information. Will you be doing a higher tier level for the 300+ sticks? 🥃🥃
@@WhiskeyHunterVAT69 yup
Winwing Ursa Minor. Worth looking at due to shipping being included for NA at least.
That doesn't fit into this price category. Look at my value category ac free weeks ago
They had a previous video where the ursa minor was featured
Nicely nuanced consideration of features, quality and especially the older generation-technology tolerances. I respectfully offer that the X56 should be a D given your narrative of "don't buy it" .
Well, is rather have that over a x52, and I don't know if I'd buy it over a T16K, so I stuck it there, but I definitely wanted to repeat my recommendation on just stepping over that land mine ;)
I can't find any sricks that will mount to that center stick other than maybe the warthog. I really want to get this and a VKB set up but the base for those seem too big to mount?
Center plate is for VKB gunfighter, Virpil T50/WarBRD, and warthog. One of the larger plates could likely be adapted.
@FalconsLedge sorry to sound dumb lol. How does the VKB mount? Seems the base holes are wider than the stand mount
I am assuming you are talking about the gladiator, that mount is designed for the gunfighter, totally different base. What I did to my gladiator is I drilled two holes in the front of the plate where it extends beyond the base. Do at your own risk of course, otherwise you will need to build an adapter plate.
@FalconsLedge oh shit yea i meant the gladiator. Was trying to stay withing the budget lol. My abd. But ok. Thanks
@Shumanator94 definitely, drill the Base at the front to fit a couple of the holes, or make an adapter plate, best idea. Personally I drilled the plate, because it's strong and ensures the least parts used in the process
What about for 50$ lol I'm about to get one used
@@missheepious sure.
Hol'up, are you from Utah? Got distant acquaintances there. Nice.
@@JKGaming1414 yup! I'm in Utah
Where's vkb?
These are sticks under 150 shipping included. VKB doesn't make any devices that fit into that category. They will be in the Mid tier list coming out this weekend.
Thanks for the review. Recently recieved mine this past week and my experience is the same: robust, well devised packaging. Survived the trip from Lithuania to Canada with no damage. All parts are medium, to heavy duty grade and the devise itself is of premium quality. Initial flights have yeilded very positive results, especially helos. It is an expensive upgrade but if you are seeking another piece that enhances your immersion/experience then this is for you. @@WhiskeyHunterVAT69 it's a good device for a cheap price!
hi, i have the ursa left han and 45° but there is no more spring and when i had removed the Y spring to use it lik a real throtle, the center lost it's "CLIC" so you must use 100% throtle and not -50...0...+50 throtle position AND when i tried to set the screw to have the trotle not mooving when you remove your hand on (it goes slowly to 100%) the damper is not hard enough to make it works. the screw is now death. And if you ask win wing service they tell you that the waranty is dead if you remove any springs LOL SO, it was funy but never at the level on the VKB (that i have on right hand). what a pytty
I can't speak to what happened in your particular case, but I'm doubting that the warranty didn't cover removing the spring, I'm betting it was not about over tightening the dampers that did it. VKB definitely has better service in my opinion, but it's also almost double the price with shipping taken into account. Sorry to hear you had trouble.
If I was interested in getting a joystick for Star Citizen, and I did not have much money, what should I get? Awesome video as usual!
Dual Winwing ursas, 115 each free delivery in the us
What do you mean dead ecosystem?
How many combat sim sticks have they released in the last decade? Zero, dead ecosystem, not being developed, nothing new on the way aka dead
@ Makes sense I just wanted to clarify what you meant 👍
@Lucky_Gamer4876 you bet. Just know it's not personal, if Logitech came out with an updated stick that was great tomorrow, I'd be singing their praises.

@@FalconsLedgewhat’s the best HOTAS for like a 250$ budget I’m getting into sim flying and I want one that is going to last a few years and one that doesn’t feel really bad.
If it absolutely must be hotas meaning traditional throttle, then mix brands, TM TWCS and Winwing Ursa Minor. If you don't mind doing Omni throttle, then do two ursas, one with the Omni throttle adapter
Also, there is no real negative to going with two different brands, I have a bunch of different brands in my setup, WW, Virpil, VPFORCE, VKB, and Thrustmaster
@@FalconsLedge I was gonna get an X56 but every review is mostly negative so what you’re saying is I should pair a Tm twcs and a winwing Ursa Minor?
