    I think this is one of the most fun cars in the B segment...old school revvy naturally aspirated engine + light car. There are more practical small cars like the Polo 1.0 tsi which is quiter and roomier, but nothing beats a good old naturally aspirated small hatch with a superb shifter. And this will go the same way after 300K kms unlike the VW TSI engine.

      true Mazda 2 g90 and honda jazz 1.5 i-vtec 130 but honda got much shorter gear ratio

      I went with the 85kw auto option. it pacts serious bang. in its class and price there are not many cars that give you power and luxuries

      Sixth gear ist just here to cruise at constant speed, impossible to do speed recovery !!
      Maybe the solution for a more reliable mechanic is atmo but norms oblige to make a long gearing which affects performances, that’s why turbo seems have advantages compared to that solution (even a 208 puretech 100 gearing is shorter, but it has 205 Nm torque !!)
      However for someone who don’t care about performance, the lowest engine speed is the best

      @@thomasraffestin3407 the new 2021 updated GT line has landed with 96kw and 230nm torque, the old GT 82kw varient was R330000 new, the Allure auto and GT are R380000 and R430000 shockingly priced. the Peugot GT costs what a entry Polo GTI 147kw costs.
      I got the top spec Mazda 2 and it was probably the more reliable car, the Peugot 208 active auto with 74kw costs the same but the Mazda 2 is fully loaded.
      Mazda is also a 4 cylinder engine. i don't like turbo small engines, 230nm will break that 1.2l engine inside 100000km. add 430k I can get close to the top spec Mazda 3 or a near top spec Mazda cx3.
      Toyota, VW, peugot/opel are just crazy overpriced right now.

      I had the 75hp 5 speed manual one (2019 model) and on 5th gear at 130 km/h it had around 2500 rpm which was great for economy but the car was dead lol. 2nd gear goes up to 105 km/h lol. Too long gears. Economy was great tho. I averaged 5.1L/100 km/h after 20,000 km. Then they stole it.

    I have one of these (2018 pre facelift) which I think looks cooler than this facelift model. Same 90ps engine but no mild hybrid tech. After two and half years with it I'm still not bored with it. Rev happy engine, super sweet gearshift and nice steering and brakes make it a lot of fun to drive. Shame they never made an MPS/performance version. Would have been a right laugh.

    my wife bougth the 2022 evolve and wow i was so amazed and its so addicting to drive the handling brake and suspension is almost perfect for a small car.. i recomend this car for 1st time car buyer who will use this as daily driver going to work or city.. also love the heads up display

    Das ist aber sehr überzeugend. Selbst bei V-Max hört man kaum den Motor, sondern nur die Windgeräusche.
    Da hat Mazda ja mal ein richtig guten Motor mit einer guten Geräuschdämmung gebaut. Note 1 mit Sternchen.

      Bei Höchstgeschwindigkeit hört man den Motor aufgrund der Windgeräusche nur seltenst - selbst der von meinem 1996 er Ford Ka mit 50 PS war hier nicht wahrnehmbar.

    I have 2002 Mazda 2 Sport (Demio DY) 1.5 tiptronic with old school 4 gear torque converter system. It pulls great on first 3 gear, up to 160 kmh. Then you shift to 4th gear and the car dies. Unfortunately last gear is economy gear on these types of cars and they are very tall. Sometimes it's gonna take forever to reach its maximum speed at that last gear. For instance, if this car could have enough power, it could do 299 kmh on it's last gear. Because of that there should be one more gear.

    Got the exact same car. If you want to do an economy run you'll manage to get 22-23 km per litre quite easily (4.5l per 100km). Driven normally I average 5 to 6. I'd really like if they made a Sport version with something like 120 hp and the same manual but with much shorter gears.

    I tried one once. The car is very good but the tall gearing kills the engine completely. 3rd is longer on this than 4th is in my 2021 MX-5. 5th is also longer than the 6th in my MX-5. It looses more speed in 5th gear, up the same hill, than my previous 2016 Punto 1.2 . Sorry but that’s a deal breaker. On the other hand, the gearing on my MX-5 is just perfect!

    Anyone notices the "head-up display"😅. The engine seems relatively loud during acceleration, is this correct? I wonder how usable the adaptive cruise is on the motorway in 6th gear with the gearing being that long, I bet accelerating from 80 back to 110 taking ages. Ofcourse you can shift to a lower gear but that would defeat the comfort of the adaptive cruise control. Good for economy though!

    This car isn't made for driving above 140kph. Rev matching is the best feature of this engine.

    I have 2019 Sport SkyActiv 90ps. To be honest it's a bit under powered in the low to mid power range. You really have to floor the throttle and get those revs up around the 3500+ zone to get any pick up. It's significantly slower than my old 2009 3 Diesel 1.6, which was like a rocket, and it was bigger and heavier than the 2.

      You are comparing a turbocharged car to a naturally aspirated one, they are not in the same league.

      At that speed I manage to get 5l per 100 km, or 20 km/l. 50 to 60 uk mpg, I confirm.

    thrive with my mazda 2. but now I have to hand it in because it is a construction fault on the petrol pump that must be replaced free of charge for the customer

    Der Mazda 2 erreicht sein angegebenes Top-Speed nur mit Mühe, was aber nur von theoretischer Bedeutung ist. Bis 160 km/h fährt er mühelos und ich fahre ihn gerne auch auf der Autobahn. Die Kongurenz ist bei gleicher Leistung aber schneller.

    I have the SEA model with Diesel 1.5 Turbo(2016)with 105hp and 250nm Torque

    Each country produces its own Mazda 2, there are versions with a 140 hp turbo engine. in South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, fully equipped. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and even turning the headlights in the direction the car is turning, electric handbrake and armrest like in C-class cars. This is what they produce in their own country. In Europe, they are afraid of competition with Japanese cars, so they produce the most backward configurations, there is not even an armrest, the car completely sucks, such a huge handbrake, it has to be lifted with a crane, such a car is for fools.

    the 6 speed is usles this car goes 180kmh on 4.000rpm in 5th gear mine mazda 2 from 2004 goes 135kmh on 4.000 rpms and screams like hell on 180kmh

      @@acevedoofficial but aim to increase that with, ECU tuning, voltage performance module, bmc air filter ( cold air intake mod may cause issues), Ir plugs, 2 into 1 full exhaust upgrade, that shld achieve around 130HP+, mm🤔

      Yes but 5th speed you will reach higher topspeed, at 6th speed you lose some power at high speed. So the 6th speed is for fuel consumption and has low rpm

      it is a luxury car not a sports car, that is the small engine version that does 180kmh+. at that speed you go to prison if pulled over. at it's price point there are no real super fast cars that give you anything close on luxuries. you can get a new polo 1l tsi with 70kw and plastic/clothe

      Good luck trying to find a petrol car that gets anywhere near its fuel economy! Petrol turbos have crap fuel consumption in comparison (even 1 ltr turbos) and i know that from experience! Plus this engine will last decades, super reliable.

      @@pruss7259 im getting 6l/100 average on all my tanks which is fair, I have the automatic which is a little more thirsty due to the torque converter but for a 1.5l it's actually quite good.
      in the countryside i get around 5 to 5.4l/100 which is nice.
      Mazda don't make performance cars outside the MX and RX series but Mazda drives so damn smooth added to luxury you expect to get in BMW level cars. It is Japanese efficiency and comfort something Toyota are abandoning today

      @@TheSarinaide agree 💯 just wish they would improve the quality of the interior! Too much cheap plastic ! And the gear ratios are stupid. 6th gear is virtually unusable. Is suited for a diesel not a high revving petrol.

      @@prussell890 No, the gear ratios are perfect. I hate other cars nowadays because in most, you have to drive high speeds at such high RPM that the engine is crying! And the transmission is suffering too! Driving at high RPM over a long period of time (2+ hours) is cancer for the engine.
      The 6th gear is the economy gear you can use to save gas. You have to learn how to drive the car correctly. It is not made for every driving style.
