      People watch the super bowl to watch the ads, which are generally fucking hilarious, but there really aren’t many people outside America who will ever have any intention to start properly playing American footie, because there is just no way to do it, there pretty much aren’t any clubs, especially at small child level, which is the best time to start playing a sport, especially one like American football, which is so infuriatingly confusing. And it would be very difficult to start a club, as first of all there aren’t much in the way American football pitches around, and many large grassy areas within suburban environments are already taken for use as something else, and secondly, there really aren’t any retailers who would be selling all the gear-of which there is a ridiculous amount. And then, even if by some miracle, a few people set up clubs and somehow got enough people to join and coach, the problem then is that there wouldn’t be even vaguely enough clubs in any one area to start competitive , Low level leagues, which are the backbone of any sport, and besides that, most people in other countries who are into team contact sports are either into one of the rugbies, or something else entirely, rather than American football. Both rugby and American football are growing in countries other than those where they are the status quo, but they are definitely growing slower Than for example basketball, which has skyrocketed in international popularity. But as far as I can tell, rugby seems to be growing a bit faster than American footie, perhaps just due to slightly better let’s say, “ease of access”

      As far as i know there aren't alot of countries that play Rugby professionally in a league like in the Rugby world cup and Six Nations Championships, those are the only two that i know of and to even play in the World cup you need to qualify to be in it.

      Rugby Football originated in the 1830's and the Rugby clubs refused to join The Football Association (Soccer) when it was established in 1863 (which differed massively from modern Soccer).
      Melbourne Football Club was established in 1858, birthing Australian Rules Football.
      Canadian Football was first played in 1861 (as far as we're aware).
      American Football was first played in 1869, but differed massively from the modern game.
      Caid isn't necessarily older than Football elsewhere - it's simply because there hasn't been any schism in Gaelic Football that they haven't had to say 'our sport was formed on X date.'
      Anyway, American and Canadian Football owe everything they have to Soccer and Rugby... and no, Soccer hasn't always been the way it is now.

      Anybody with a brain knows that entire episode is a joke. Both arguements were terrible. Let's talk about the measurement of impact! Rugby: Two forces moving towards one another. Football: Once force moving towards an object not in motion. Do you think that would have any effect on the measurement?!
      Played both sports, the arguement of which is tougher is completely void. They are both physical in their own way. It's like arguing who is a better runner; the sprinter or the marathoner.

    Comparing the two is an exercise in stupidity. American football is to rugby as the long jump is to the hurdles-American football players get everything done in one go then have a rest, and rugby players have to pace themselves a lot more and can't afford to go all out every single play (hence they don't wear 50lbs of equipment). The only difference I can see is that rugby is a more international sport with following all over the world-AF is trying to get into Britain but it's not there yet

Oh right you won't, even though you say it's a "pussy" sport. You're too scared to play it and will not would will come up with any excuse not to. As i said they're both great sports, stop being a hater plus everyone has different opinions anyway

      @TheForeverAthlete 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Dude jumping through a car? I'm not talking about the video I'm talking the actual game of football. And you calling me names haha I guess. You do realize not everybody watches on tv, they watch the game live. Out of hundreds of people who grew up playing rugby who came to America and played football, a handful is not even half its barely even part of the ones who were, it's easy to hate something that you've never done. You do know the bulls are a basketball team right, by your statement you basically can take from it that football was so hard for him he switched sports. You only sit the sidelines if you don't start smart one. There's mang players who play the whole game non stop, but if course someone who hates football will only point out the ones that don't. Nope, I would love to try rugby though. But bases off what I've seen. Rugby is awesome but to aay football players can't play you obviously never played which is why you hate it so much. Running for 80 minutes dude we practice for 3 hours running full speed. The hard part no one gets to see, fans just get to see what you see

    • @TheForeverAthlete
      @TheForeverAthlete 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'm not talking bout adults dudes. I'm talking how you know America has immigrants? That come from rugby playing countries? Yeah exactly, hundreds do start playing football once they get here. Dude you're just a football hater, just because they're big doesn't mean they can't run. But of course you're too busy hating football you don't pay attention to those things, also they're bigger than rugby players. Because rugby is built for endurance, football is built for power. Call them fat all you want but until, you've actually been on the field on the field with to see how quick they are and how hard they hit. You will never understand again if you don't play. You'll always be clueless. Of course you would say that, because you don't know why, because the only freaking thing you know is what you see on Tv. The games are nothing compared to what you do throughout the week. Which is why we say the real work comes when no one's looking throughout the week at practice, no one knows how much football players actually. Thus creating dumb people like you, who think they know everything when the only thing you ever saw was what was on Tv. So yes just stop talking. You're hating something you don't even understand that's what's wrong with the world now

And soccer sucks anyway, so just lose the endurance part and make the game more exciting.

      @@ulaiamanu7500 playing football is hard too. Its literally chess, every position in football are experts of what they do. For example, one of the hardests is line backer, you have to memorize offensive and defensive formations, plays, signs, and much more. On top of that, you have to watch the QB and slants from the Tightends. Another hard position is cornerback, which I can gaurantee no rugby player can even guard a wide receiver because that is a cornerbacks job. And Cornerbacks are basically the same build as soccer players but slightly more bulky. Rugby players are too bulky to guard a wide receiver. BTW wide receivers have crazsy fast footwork, better than most soccer players. But a cornerbacks job is to guard the wide receiver (to prevent them from catching the ball). There is many more positions that have their own tasks as well. But All of that is happening in seconds before the next play. With a different play and formation

    I never played rugby, but I did play American football and soccer (football) I do think that training/practice is harder in American football. However, when it comes to actually playing the game, I do think soccer and rugby are harder. From what I seen in rugby it's non stop like soccer, which I like about rugby. There are no reviews, time outs, or commercial breaks. That's probably major complaint as a fan of the NFL, it shouldn't take 3 hours to play a 1 hour game.

    • @dchang11
      @dchang11 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      kxsoldier They are reviews in Rugby, overseen by the television match official. The referee decides on whether to review a disputed try or point scored. If the NFL eliminates the commercial breaks, games would be trimmed down to 2.5 hours or less, squeezing three matches on Sunday afternoon, eight available per week. More football. That's something the fans would like and would definitely increase popularity worldwide. Need ad space? Put decals on helmets and game uniforms. We don't need commercials.

    • @kxsoldier
      @kxsoldier 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Christian Mills I played both. Football practice, training yes harder than soccer. Actually playing the game, soccer is harder, no stoppages, no time outs, rarely any subs. I was outside linebacker, besides reading the plays and getting the tackles (which is hard) I wasn't really that tired because of all the stoppages and timeouts. I wasn't on offense so I just sat and waited until it was the defense's time to go on the field. I was striker in soccer and I did more. Plus you can't use your hands, controlling a ball with your feet is not easy. I ain't shitting on football, I like it as well but in my experience, I was much more tired in practice than I would be a game. Hardest thing about football is being the quarterback (a position I would never want to be)

    • @kxsoldier
      @kxsoldier 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      David C See soccer needs to copy Rugby about the reviews. I like American Football but I hate watching it because it takes too dam long. Take out commercials and the 2 minute warning, it be better.

      Christian Mills Put you're constant moving, its a game of endurance and stamina There are NO timeouts or breaks, you do everything on the field, no such thing as "special teams". I just played defense, had one job and never once was I tired. Thats what I mean by harder to play than football.
      The only difficult positions are the QB, running back, wide recievers, other than that, not so hard.

    I don't see the all blacks "making fun" of NFL videos. Also, those NFL videos are pretty impressive and the guys show skills. Im a fan of rugby tho, I find NFL games too long and they stop the timer all the time, switch players all the time, no wonder a NFL player will hit much harder, they spend a lot of time resting, a rugby player gotta keep a constant pace, so they can't spend too much energy every time they go for a tackle. IMO NFL is more about explosive moments where players give everything they got, hence why they wear pads, they would be killing each other if they didn't wear them. Rugby is more about endurance, lighter tackles, because otherwise they wouldn't be able to play the whole game, also, tackle restrictions make rugby a lot less violent than NFL, no doubt. To me, it's like comparing a marathon runner to a 100m runner.

All of our opinions are subjective, and trying to force them on somebody and prove they're wrong is just dumb as all hell. All of you seem to have this bias opinion that the sport you love is superior and then you throw in stereotypes tied to whatever country the sport represents and say those stereotypes are relevant. I played football all throughout high school and just started rugby in college. Both are brutal in their own right. The lack of pads is a huge difference though. There is nothing in football that compares to getting mauled in a ruck or the constant play. Football's intensity is hard to match when there is a stoppage in between each play which ensures balls to the wall action. I also think Football hits can be harder and more frequent in some cases.

  • @Dang3rMouSe
    @Dang3rMouSe 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I love both sports and truly enjoyed my time playing amateur rugby under a coach that was a former pro rugby player from England, but there is a reason they made a rule american football players pad up. The inertia of the hits w/ the way the game is played is much harder than what is received in rugby. Ecspecially when it's a 350 lbs linebacker that got a 15 yard inertia to take your head off. Its only because of the way the game is played, that's all. Both sports are tough and fun, just different. On a side note, I saw Australian rugby & that looks fun as hell.

    Making fun of other sports because you think they are boring or soft is dumb. My favorite sport is american football but i have a lot of friends who like soccer because they think it is FUN. It has nothing to do with toughness, and even so who could blame them? maybe some athletes want to live their life after sports without brain damage and being in pain all the time. Just sayin'

      nonsense-real football (soccer to you) and rugby players have far more stamina-ffs,they need two different teams in it-an offense and defense, im not knocking grid iron but the plays are far to short,were as footballers and rugby players run most of the match-90mins for football and 80mins for rugby

    I play both sports and I think they are both amazing. Here's my take on the subject. No matter what you say, American football hits are going to be harder. I know from experience. People who have never played American football immediately think "oh they are pussies for wearing pads" but in my opinion the pads actually made it more dangerous. People don't hold back in football. Your number one priority is to totally demolish and destroy your opponent. And let me tell you, getting blindsided by a football player is one of the most painful things in sports. Your vision gets blurry, it is hard to breathe, you can barely stand. Rugby on the other hand is a lot more tiring. You need loads of stamina. Yes the hits can hurt sometimes but the hits have more technique as you don't want to hurt yourself. It is more of a wrap and slam. They are a bit softer but I can tell you it hurts like hell to get slammed on your back around 50 minutes into the game when you are so tired and winded you can barely breathe. Both games take balls and hard work. Comment if you agree or disagree with my comment.

    American football players would get tired and worn down from the constant running and tackling. Rugby players would be shell shocked after a big hit.
    Both are tough, both require a lot. American football hits are harder (not even up for debate), but rugby has more of it. Let's just agree that none of the people arguing about this on youtube are anywhere near in shape to go pro in either sport.

      Jerry B Andérson Its not abot bias'd think logically, Bigger guy, runs full force into smaller guy, bolth running about the same speed, FB=weight advantage//total power. Rugby=Speed/Endurance. Speed is slight, considering its not a race its a collision, thats why weight classes exist in fighting sports, weight is power, their is no arguement in that, if it were a game, its not that the nfl players would win, its that the nfl players would have less injuries, they're bigger and stronger just by body size, argue a 200 pound rugby players vs a 320 pound defensive lineman(being thats light).

    • @moritzpbbarvencik
      @moritzpbbarvencik 9 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Goo lox
      Actually the average rugby player is about the same size as the average nfl player. And they aren't stronger either. They are more explosive though. And why do you think 200lbs nfl players can take the hit but a 200lbs rugby players can't. I'm certain the rugby players have experienced a lot more pain than they ever will in the nfl. Also lineman generally aren't the ones running full speed into a tackle. And they are pretty fat So stop bullshitting.

    • @MYMHC25
      @MYMHC25 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jerry B Andérson
      Im not saying rugby players cant take a hit, im saying they would have trouble against a guy 100-200 pounds heavier then them, rugby players are fast and fit, ive even done rugby myself its a completely different sport I could outrun most guys without a collision which is half of football for me, Defensive lineman at nfl level are 100-200 pounds easily over the average rugby player, they also train to be explosive which i do agree with which is why im saying rugby players are more athletic.Rugby player would avoid taking hits most likely, its not about who feels more pain, padding is their to protect the person wearing and the other person from the impact. I will give u this though, although ive seen how brutal a sport rugby can be, half of the time the guys are all around the same size, or they never catch anyone it just makes sense, its rugby, not wrestling.

    • @moritzpbbarvencik
      @moritzpbbarvencik 9 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Goo lox
      You are clearly underestimating the size of rugby players. The average international rugby player is about 1.88 - 108kg which is 6'2 - 240. The average nfl player is about 10 pounds heavier. The difference isn't big. And like I said, it's mostly linebackers and safeties etc. that do most the hits. Linemen mostly do the blocking or tackle the quarterback.

    Chris Johnson- 5'11" 203 lbs 4.24

    I like how NFL supporters say that rugby is a girl sport and they don't hit nearly as hard as NFL players and this is because it takes no skill to throw yourself at someone using your weight compared to rugby players where they don't wear anything and have to tackle in a more skill full play.
