    It absolutely a brotherhood. I'm in a wheelchair and have been to countless shows, including Trivium. I've never been worried about getting hurt because of how amazingly cool metalheads are. Anytime a pit broke out near me, people would form a barrier around me to protect me. Same goes with the crowd surfers. People around me will direct them away from me. I've only been hit in the craziness once or twice and that's only because the venue was so small. So, yeah. Metalheads look out for each other and you should never worry about the chaos. Well, minus that one idiot that always shows up, but there's always one in every crowd.

      His gf hit the nail on the head calling it a brotherhood. I've always felt that way and used the same word.. When you're belting the lyrics and the guy next to you is too and looks at you and smiles.. or when someone falls and everyone around reaches down to pick them up.. That's what it's all about.

    • @johnsetzler6911
      @johnsetzler6911 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      My wife and I took our kids to a Tremonti show not too long ago. Front row. Everyone around were doing everything they could to make them as comfortable as possible (keeping others back) aside from our attempts. So yea, a brotherhood, we are.

      i myself went to a Slipknot concert when i was around 16. Stayed a bit to the left from the main mosh pit, headbanged hard, and in all that comotion i started falling, and actually fell on the floor. Instinct reaction and i covered myself up, but the next instant i just felt like 10+ hands on me dragging me up simultaneously. Nobody even checked personally if i'm ok, they just pulled me out and everyone continued headbanging. It's like a brotherhood exactly, everyone just takes care of another by default.... only in metal do we experience this feeling of belonging.

      I'm trying to find the confirmation but I think it was.
      I first saw them in 08, that was the AHIG tour, but I think when I saw them the second time, it was 2012 and it was a side show to a festival called Soundwave, yup that sounds about right. 2012 I saw Steel Panther for the first time too, the night before Slipknot I believe it was.

      2012 was the last time I saw Slipknot, could be another year before they get back down here. I hope to see them at least once more. The 2012 show, it was also celebrating Pauls life, so parts of it were deeply emotional and the end of the show, his guitar, mask and suit were all onstage.

    Don't worry about being in the crowd when the mosh pit starts. There is plenty of warning and most people will make sure that those that don't want any part of it will be moved out of harms way. If you fall and don't get up quickly someone will help you up. Everyone is there to support the band, have fun, and go home safe. Metalheads look after metalheads at shows.
    Edit: except at the warped tour. The asshole to metalhead ratio is a lot worse there because there are a lot of non metalheads there

    What you were saying about it being like a family is definitely true. I went to my first metal concert when I was about 10, it was either Mastodon or Opeth, I can't remember which was first but the two were quite close together, and normally I'm not great with big crowds of people, I never really have been, but concerts are completely different for me. It's exactly like that thing you mentioned briefly about everyone being on the same wavelength, it's almost like I instinctively know now and knew from the start that everyone here's chill, these people are my people.

    • @NTVT1999
      @NTVT1999 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Samoclese it's so weird isn't it?? Like people are equally happy to be left alone or to have a chat with you and neither feels awkward. Idk much about sympathetic energy, but it's definitely something I feel at a metal gig. First time I was 9, watching Disturbed, Halestorm and Papa Roach and this guy at the end gave me this pick he'd managed to catch that night, because he wanted my first one to be memorable. I'll never stop loving metalheads

    It’s funny how she mentions that people are drunk and high to rap/Hip-Hop concerts. I never get drunk to metal concerts. I enjoy the music way more sober than drunk. If I wanna get drunk I’ll head out afterwards but not during the show :)

    • @samoclese6435
      @samoclese6435 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's a lot to do with the way that the majority of people within the groups that listen to the different genres experience the music. With a lot of music the majority of people that listen to it just really have it as enjoyable background noise while they're doing things, those are the kinds of people that tend to go get drunk and stoned at gigs, but the majority of metal listeners want to take in the music in as much detail as they can and fully enjoy it. Of course there are exceptions to the rule on both sides, I'm sure there are people that go to rap shows to appreciate the music and I don't been to any metal shows where I haven't smelled weed at least a couple of times throughout the night but most of the time I think it's purely down to the majority's method of experiencing the music on a day to day basis.

    • @HaloOverOurDemise

Even cooler was Matt reaching out to you to hook you up with VIP tickets and such, Matt is just one of the few people I would to sit down and have a good time talking to for a few hours about really anything.

      The worst spot to record sound of a live-band is right in the middle in front of the stage! You get naked 'monitor'-sound and too much acoustic crap. The best spot is in front of my mixing desk.

    I'm really happy to see you go to metal concerts. Trust me, this is just the beginning. You're gonna fall in love with lots of other bands and I'm pretty sure you're gonna be attending lots of other concerts too. I'm really happy for you too because you got to meet TRIVIUM! For me, it would be a dream come true, but I'm really happy that got to meet those amazing dudes. This vlog really shows how excited you and Sarah really were, for the concert and I could feel the intensity of it, just by watching it on TH-cam. Lastly, I'd just like to thank you Alex, for being really humble as you always are. I love you and your channel. Keep making reaction videos and soon you're gonna turn into a METALHEAD just like all of us :)

    Sounds like you guys tapped into what I love most about going to shows. When she said "I want to be in that section," and you said the word brotherhood. There's nothing like 20,000 people gathering in one place that are all there for the reason. They all share the same passion. All of the normal social differences are gone. No one there cares about your race, religion, political views, age, etc. You're there for the music. You're there to celebrate a band that makes music you love. It's an amazing experience. And when the band stops and let's the crowd sing a verse or two, there's nothing in the world like hearing 20,000 sing in unison. Imagine how the band feels hearing that many people sing their music...
    Glad you two had a great time. It's an amazing experience it, and I can't wait for the next one!

    Trivium is awesome. Now that you popped your metal concert cherry, you need to experience one of the pinnacles of metal live....Metallica.
    I know some people are going to give me shit about that, but I’ve been to more metal concerts than I’m comfortable admitting and I can truthfully say that there is nothing, and I mean nothing, like the energy of a Metallica concert. They just put out this energy that’s so intense and the crowd throws it right back. For people in their 50s, they still have an insane amount of endurance and energy live. They essentially got known and famous for being a live band and for touring and that hasn’t changed.
    I took my then 70 year old father to the last Metallica show I was able to attend in 2009 (I’ll probably never get to go to another due to moving, a catastrophic injury and anxiety issues) but I got to meet them at that concert and then enjoy the concert from great seats with my dad who had never been to any concert, let alone a metal concert. He was blown away by them and the energy, I still remember that day as vividly as if it were yesterday. Unfortunately he passed away in October, a week after turning 79. I guess that’s another reason I don’t want new Metallica concert memories...if my last was with him and that memorable...I’m ok with that.
    Anyway, sorry for bringing everyone down. Go see Metallica when they come around by you next, I promise you won’t regret it bud.
    Take care.

      I KIND OF agree with you. TBH, I think Metallica live nowadays is pretty bad. The fact that they don't practice as much as they should (listen to any recent live edition of Blackened, its inexcusable) and cut solos and change the flow of songs and stuff is unacceptable in my opinion. That being said, they are legends, and the sheer size and energy of their show and their audience is something any metal head should experience. That being said, I think Iron Maiden or Megadeth still perform far better live.

    I am super glad you had a great time at your first metal show! It's definitely always amazing to hear when newcomers to the community get to experience a great show and it sounds like you guys truly understand why it is that metalheads love the music so much. Especially the part where you guys talked about how it felt like a "brotherhood" of sorts. That's exactly how it feels, especially at Folk Metal concerts. It's just a bunch of passionate fans bonding over a mutual love of the music and the bands.
    The single best concert experience I have ever experienced is seeing Sabaton live. They are some of the coolest dudes ever and their energy is so positive and invigorating that I hope you get to check them out and maybe see them in the future if you end up liking them! They are a swedish power metal band who do songs about world history, particularly historical battles, campaigns, heroes and famous last stands. They are very charismatic and their banter onstage is almost like standup comedy.
    Anyways, if you end up curious to check them out, I would definitely say you should check out a live version of a song on the channel, just to get an idea of the band. I would suggest "Ghost Division (France 2016)" as that showcases their energy and that is how they start off every show.
    Either way, rock on and glad you had a great time, my friend \m/

    That's the great thing about the metal community, it is like a brotherhood. All too often, because we listen to alternative music, we are looked down upon, we get this unwarranted and inaccurate reputation for being violent, satanists, into sacrifices and the like, but I can guarantee you that is very much not true and most of us are actually really nice, down to earth people. Sure, mosh pits look dangerous and violent, but in reality, any good mosh pit will be a bunch of guys/gals, just loving the music and getting into it, and 9 times out of 10, if someone falls, there will be a dozen or more people there to help them back up, and the people surrounding them will make sure they are ok. I don't know where we get this reputation of being dangerous people from, but it is very much the opposite. granted, you will get the occasional douche-balloon, but then, you get those in every walk of life.

    • @SortenRavn

      Are satanists more violent than others tho??
      🤔
      Been an satanist since '03 and tbh.. you can't really tell us apart.. if you were to compare next to someone "regular".
      I mean..
      Most people (whether they like to admit it or not)
      are actually livinga satanic lifestyle..
      But why is that even a bad thing??

    • @todeswalzerlevanthus
      @todeswalzerlevanthus 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh no no, I wasn't insinuating that satanists are violent or bad people by any means at all, it was more meant that satanism has gotten this bad reputation, again, for being violent, into sacrifices, etc... Now I know that's not true, but because people associate satanism with evil, they automatically assume that if you listen to metal, you must be into it. I am not at all suggesting that satanists are bad people at all, it just seems that all of these things get bundled together because ignorant people are too stupid or lazy to actually find out anything about it before they make flash judgements

    • @SortenRavn
      @SortenRavn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fallen Carpathia
      Oh i agree 100%with that..
      As an admin on a satanist fb group.. the sheer amount of stupid we often get (from ignorant twits) is almost mindblowing.
      Funny enough its more often questions about "how to join the illuminati" and/or how to get rich ..
      Stupidity should be oh so painful..
      If it was up to me

    • @kabiskzor
      @kabiskzor 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has got a bit of a reputation for being Satanist music tho when most of it's got nothing to do with Satanism whatsoever nor are all the bands Satanists them selves.. Most aren't … When I was a teen in the 90's listening to standard metal like metallica , pantera, sepultura etc.. I was shunned by some groups as a devil worshipper.. lol We had some Christian guy come out to our school and warn us away from this satan music.. None of us were Satanists lol We just liked heavy music.

    I started watching this channel because I used to listen to rap. I found that I resonated way more with metal. I am always so excited to see what you think about my favorite bands. I AM SO JEALOUS YOU SAW TRIVIUM!! I can't WAIT until I can!

    Metal/rock shows are my home. The energy of the pit literally gets me high. Seeing all the people that I have a common interest with (the band/genre) gives an indescribable sense of family. We all look out for each other there whether in the pit (like I always am) or on the upper decks. 🖤🤘🖤

    So happy you all had a good time at Trivium! Would you please react to some Erra? Do Drift or The Hypnotist or Rebirth or Hybrid Earth. Literally anything off the Augment or Drift albums. Please! Been waiting for you to do some Erra!

      He should listen to Dementia from the Augment album. That song is a masterpiece.

    Reàlly glad you both enjoyed yourself. Theres is nothing like a live metal show. I'm a scottish metalhead of nearly 45yrs so i've seen a lot of different genres over the years. And i still love it. Keep it real 🤘🤘 🤘🤘

    Love to see your reaction to either Swedish Pagans or Attero Dominatus by Sabaton.
    They are a War Themed Power Metal band from Sweden.
    (Pretty much all there songs are in English. Attero dominatus is as well, it’s just the title that’s in Latin.)

    I was REALLY debating on actually watching ANY of your videos,but this one has been on my feed all day and I was hoping that you would give the difference between what this show was like verses a hip-hip concert because I've never been to a hip-hop show before. I'm glad the two of you had a good time,I know I always do \M/
    See everyone you can,support the local scene too if you have one. Be apart of the metal community,we have cookies.

      I saw Lacuna Coil last year, supported by 2 Melbourne based bands and I love them both now as well.

      Not sure who I'll be seeing next, gotta save up and pick a show.
      I kinda cheat when I bake, I use cookie dough, but somehow they taste better than made from scratch.

      @metalheadlazz 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      thisdamnthingy Yea that's fine. In some ways I prefer just straight up cookie dough.
      You'll find a show. I have a few lined up (Slayer,Impact Festival,Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson,Ozzy)

      @thisdamnthingy 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Manson/Zombie, that should be spectacular.
      I would love to travel to Europe and go to those massive festivals, we just don't have that many in Australia.
      Certainly not for the heavier stuff.

    May 4th, 2018, my wife and I went to our first metal concert, too. We'd been to shows before, but not together and not metal. Trivium was our first, too! I highly recommend Trivium for a first show for everyone. Bonus: Matt has a channel on Twitch. When he isn't on tour he's gaming and doing guitar clinics. But when they're on tour you BETTER keep up with the channel. His wife tags along and airs every show on Twitch. Live. I saw a few shows prior to the one my wife and I went to, and I was NOT disappointed when we went to see them for ourselves. Unfortunately, I brought one of my guitars to sign but couldn't meet up with them after the show. That would have been the best thing ever. First metal show, first time seeing Trivium, with my wife on my arm, and having my Razorback signed by the band. Awesome night, despite not getting the signatures. Love your videos. And if I haven't yet said it, welcome to the metal fandom!

    next time you go, dont hesitate, dont be scared, jump right in. Moshpits look crazy, they are, and there is no need for you to get in them. If there is open close to you, they will let you out right away if you dont want to be in it. We look out for each other, 99% of the time! But a metal show, for me, is most about uniting the Band and the Fans, and the feeling you get when shouting lyrics, pumping your first or simply jumping up and down together is one of the best in the world.
    Also, dont wait around for the big ones, I am sure there plenty of small shows to go to. go do that, see what the Base is doing and get out there. :)

      Dude if you want to be like us - then go into the crowd, the moshpit, feel the real energy of metal, metalcore, whatever. But please...do not stand there make videos and talk about energy. You'll never feel it - when you never ever are part of it.

    Trivium is one of my favorite bands, I've seen them 5 times live and got to meet them at the Oklahoma Metal Fest a couple years ago. Super cool guys. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the show and the entire metal experience.

    If you want the freak show, virgin sacrifices, etc..... that would be a Gwar concert, lol. Cool man, glad y'all had a blast! Not a particular Trivium fan (nothing against em either) but they seemed like real cool guys.
