    Kinda bummed Crusade is considered a bit of a black sheep in Triviums discography. That was my introduction to Trivium.

      I understand Matt reasoning. I think if it wasn't for that record many of us wouldn't be here following them. It might not be some people's favorite but it was the gateway album for a lot Trivium fans.

    • @JetJoestar
      @JetJoestar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Crusade had a lot going against it. It was their only album that had a time frame where it had to be complete so it was rushed. The record label pushed the album to have poppier songs like The Rising and Sadness Will Sear. The hate from older bands on the popularity of Ascendancy caused Trivium to do an album that would be the opposite sound instead perfecting the sound they had (Having to fix what wasnt broken.) The Crusade isnt a bad album but its plagued with some issues and got hate for being seen as a step down from Ascendancy.

    • @RustyShackleford000
      @RustyShackleford000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JetJoestar Thank you for the detailed background on it. After I bought Crusade and fell in love with it I rushed and got Ember and Ascendancy and loved them. I'm a "listen to the full album" guy and Crusade is the only Trivium album I skip songs on but the second one I go back to the most behind Shogun.

    Hey guys, I know this is late to the party but..
    I found such irony in the views expressed with regards to The Rising on the album The Crusade, and later you talk of the closeness you all share as a band now.
    Looking at the album, songs jump out such as Anthem and This world can't tear us apart.. that to me are such awesome pieces!
    Just thinking now how Anthem and Watch The World Burn are like twin songs hahaha \m/ !!
    I say this only because I only had the albums; Ember, Ascendancy & Crusade.. listened to them many many, many times and now realized (again) that Rising is a song I'd always enjoy with the feeling the song gave me (and knowing the 8 minute masterpiece was next!! LOL)
    Again now hearing your later works and absolutely loving them, with watching this chat has only reinforced my, I'm just going to say love for the band in its entirety!
    P.S. I'm playing The Crusade while typing this !!
    Again I know there's deeper reasons as to saying what you did about the song(s) and album.. I just wanted to share my interpretation as a listener, Much love guys!

And i find it interesting in the sense when you said with the other drummers everyone asked 'Why'? Why get another drummer etc, but then once TSATS came out NO1 at all questioned it. They were all like Yes this is the Trivium we've wanted, its all in place now. Alex is the perfect fit. Matt it’s funny, I still have my ball chain necklace haha. I haven’t worn it in years, but I kept it as a memory. I also was big into the pop punk scene. But I also listened to a lot of punk rock and ska music. My conversion to metal was avenged sevenfold, 36 crazyfists, Atreyu, as I lay dying, shadows fall, from autumn to ashes. That was in 2003, then I discovered trivium in 2004. And my thing was I really wanted to learn those songs on guitar and it made me a better guitarist once I got into metal. Because at that time it was just power chords. For years it was like that before I got into metal.

    to this day i don't get why vengeance falls is so badly reviewed or seen as a black sheep, it's diffrent but still such a diverse and great album overall

    The rising was the first track I heard from Trivium and was like “these dudes rock, who are these guys?” It’s kinda disheartening to hear that The Rising has become a meme per se

    What years did Alex play in the Modesto Junior College Jazz Band? I was in it '09/'10. Played trombone. That's hella ironic.

      @AlmightyStarfire "a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result." Here I thought that I was in a simple college jazz band, when in fact I was playing with the drummer from one of my favorite bands. Pretty amusing

    So "Rising" doesn't sound like a Trivium song but you guys play "Silence in the Snow" live?

    • @Theone-be8xl
      @Theone-be8xl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hussain Family Silence in the Snow sounds like a shogun trivium song, they even said they made this song for shogun but released it for SITS, Rising sounds like it doesn’t belong on trivium’s song list

    • @Psyclops_Shop
      @Psyclops_Shop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Theone-be8xl help me out: Shogun had Seven-string guitars, growling death vocals, and very intricate riffs. How does SITS fit with that?

    • @JetJoestar
      @JetJoestar 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're trolling. Im not a fan of the song, Silence in The Snow, but its definitely Trivium without harsh vocals. The Rising was poppy trash with cheesy lyrics, cheesy guitar riffs that sound like they were ripped off a 90s cool kid commercial, and Matt Heafys metallica lite vocals at their worst.

    • @Psyclops_Shop
      @Psyclops_Shop 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JetJoestar All I was really getting at is that there are plenty of other songs besides SITS that I wish would be part of their lives set. I personally like Crusade a lot better than SITS but either way I'm still a fan and hope to catch them live on the LOG/Megadeth tour

    • @Theone-be8xl
      @Theone-be8xl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hussain Family SITS has seven strings as well, sounds like it may be the same scales used in the shogun album as well, even has vivid but vulgar imagery in the vocals “Let’s paint the ground red with the blood of our kill” sits well with shogun’s “ripping your veins out, your insides win and kill you from within” or He Who Spawned the Furies’ “take your teeth out of me I have just begun to breathe on my own”, the melodious nature of SITS fits well enough with the melodies of almost nearly every shogun song, even got the Japanese mythology associated with the song because of the Oni skull like shoguns Chinese and Japanese mythology theme, best argument is technicality and death metal vocals. Tbh I even listen to shogun album with SITS between shogun and Torn for a change of pace before the ass beating lmao but all opinions
