For something called Gun-EZ, it sure isn't easy to find one of these. That said, I wanna try out some of the more peculiar ones from the line as well, particularly the Shokew and Abigor
@@mj2005gundam They're really cute, and how they were designed is also interesting. The idea was to return to the classic 300 yen price point to appeal to younger kids which were the target audience of Victory (crazy it may sound), but due to market expectations with color accuracy and such they had to increase the price to make them viable. Still, they pulled off some clever tricks with the shared polycap frame runners and clear beam/stand runner which were quite impressive for their time but haven't aged quite so gracefully.
I absolutely love this lineup of kits, but you pretty much addressed all the issues exactly. The plastic is horrifically prone to nubs, especially using the very unique fold-over gimmick (there's a reason it wasn't brought back despite the ingenuity); The softer plastic for the frame is also susceptible to nubs, and those hands do NOT look good; The stickers do NOT stick at all. But on the other hand, it's a quick and easy build that's begging beginner painters to touch up something pretty simple, and the included effects (curved beam saber!) and stand/backdrop are super cool to have as well. I do recommend grabbing a few more from the line! They'll all be a roughly equivalent experience but it is an enjoyable one to me at least.
Funny, I've thought of grabbing the Jamesgun just for kicks. Though I ran out of space before the move. I do wanna grab that and a few others that we never got modern 1/144 kits of at some point though, like the bug-eyed units. The issues of this kit though is what suffering from old engineering looks like
One, it really needs a proper HG kit, stat. Heck, make it a Gun Blaster so that you can convert it back to the Gun EZ later. And b, if anyone is impatient to want this thing, you gotta invest a lot on not just paint, but multiple Option Hands (whether it's the Build Fighters, Build Divers, or Option Parts Set releases) to give this damn thing proper hands.
Many of the old kits of that era were just toys to me xD I remember building the g Gundam and wing kits from the 90's and playing with them heavily. Of course I didn't have tools so I tore them from the runners.
Yep, this is what an old kit suffering from old engineering really looks like, not for most kits that are 10+ years old (since 2020s) like you-know-who loves to claim. If they can make parts ingeniously, then it might work. But knowing how modern Gunpla is constructed, the possibilities of that gimmick coming back are slim to none.
@@mj2005gundam Yeah even though I like old hg kits and appreciete them (except you gelgoog marine for constantly shattering on me) they are a massive step up compared to older no grade 1/144 kits. There are kits from 2003-5 that have better elbows than kits a decade later! Overall though joint solidity seems to be bandai's major difficulty with kits, as it seems that aspect has always been wildly inconsistent, even within the kits themselves. From the dom's hands crumbling to the looseness of the grassley suits elbows to whatever happened with the revive zaku's second wrist thing, despite 90% of the kit being rock rolid.
I’ve been wanting some Gun-EZs to go against my V2 gundam, and even with the flaws of this kit I’d still LOVE to interact with that splitting runner gimmick. It’s so childish and fun
Not from memory. I don't have the kit on hand since it's at my parents' place, so I can't check on the spot. I'll update in another reply when I get the chance to test it
we need a fine build system kit of this guy SO BADLY
I second this. Would be nice to have an HG GunEZ with that build system.
Also, I always thought GunEZ is a she because of the pilots?
There’s an RE/100
@@milktenders6219 I mean HG 144.
This would be such a good template unit for custom builds, wouldn't it?
What was that system again?
The box art for old ass kits is lovely.
Something so unrefined and retro about those boxes, isn't it?
got myself a 1/144 Javelin and Jamesgun from this line. Love em to bits and definitely on my search for one of these
For something called Gun-EZ, it sure isn't easy to find one of these. That said, I wanna try out some of the more peculiar ones from the line as well, particularly the Shokew and Abigor
the old V 1/144s are so endearing
They sure have their charm, especially if you've touched them up yourself

i feel like the fold-over gimmick could work for the 30 minute missions line

Ah, 90's gunpla.Nostalgia... I lost count how many of em that I've lost due to broken elbow and shoulder joints.
Brings back the good old memories of when Gen Ys started out on Gunpla

I don't even know if the Build hands would even fit, though I agree it needs a modern 1/144 take for the odd Victory fans out there

Happens to the best of us. I thought HG AGE kits were cursed due to how many of them I broke when starting out just from playing with them
If only we had a (retail) HG revive of this.
P-Bandai more than likely. maybe retail Gun-EZ with its variants as P-Bandai.
@@reijigamer They can have the variants, but at least the base should be retail.
@@-mcpie-6802 I would love a retail HGUC Gun-EZ but Bandai probably is like "we have retail Gun-EZ at home" and points to RE/100 Gun-EZ, lol
Sadly, I think it's gonna suffer the fate of the HGAW Daughtress
I forgot they had backdrops so I wondered for a hot second why you showed a forest
That is just 1 of 8 pages I found, gotta go back there soon
Love old school kits like this, thanks for the review!
You're welcome
Kits back then coming with way more and cooler accessories, like bent sabers
To be fair, they're toothpicks, so they had to mold a new one instead of having us bend effect parts ourselves, but I see where you're coming from
I hope that a regular high grade released nowadays
It seems like Bandai just wants to forget the 90s altogether besides Wing and G. I'll be damned if they decide to release an HGUC of this kit
Bandai Re-released the First RX-78 Gunpla with added color separation and articulation. Hope they remake other old kits with that technology too.
You're a bit too hopeful that Bandai would give a toss about lesser 90s series
The Gun-EZ and Shokew need modern HG kits
If we do get them then they will probably be P-Bandai. Also, the HGUC version will be slightly taller/bigger
They do. I feel like they're some of the most notable designs from Victory second to the Gundams themselves
Now that is an old kit
Buuut I’d wish they’d try that folding runner trick again.

Just that good hit of nostalgia and what Gunpla tried to innovate on
HGUC when?
Late UC is seriously under-represented.
Never from the looks of things. Late 90s Gundam is being swept under the rug
Tahun 90an kita dulu harganya sekitar 40 ribuan dapat gundam bagus jadi nostalgia melihat masa kecil
It is nostalgic to see such old kits be reviewed in new light
definitely needs a revamp build design, like a P-Bandai version of the revived Victory Gundam.
It needs an HGUC revamp at a good price, but I damn well hope they don't put it in PB
This needs a HG Revive variant.
Rest in Peace Shrike Team.
If only the 90s weren't being swept under the rug by Bandai in favor of other stuff
im still questioning why this kit got movable arms but the no grade dinn and goohn didn't
The GOOhN might just be the design, but for the DINN to not have anything sounds weird
Does the beam shield use a 3mm peg by chance?
Not from memory. I don't have the kit on hand since it's at my parents' place, so I can't check on the spot. I'll update in another reply when I get the chance to test it
Iirc the mega size kits used a similar folding runner gimmick
Not as far as I'm aware from videos of the AGE-1
i have the 1/144th javelin and its fine for me, but then again i painted most of it
I tried reinforcing the frame on mine, it worked for like 2 or 3 poses. Though, I won't mind doing more of these kits just for kicks
Nice review like always 🧡
Heavygun and Gun-EZ are such an visual downgrade from the Jegan in my opinion.
The 90s were quite a time, weren't they?
@@mj2005gundam the mid 90s was a weird time for Gundam haha.
Isn't there an HG Gun-EZ
HGs back in the day are 1/100, so it's most likely that. There is no modern take on the Gun-EZ in 1/144 scale however
Surprised to see you review something as old as this.
Well, why not?
Semoga hg gun ez kedepannya bisa rilis p bandai
Unfortunately it is most likely gonna be P-Bandai
"Ez man"
I think the reborn 1/100 version still hold up but the 1/144...
Decades worth of engineering improvements there man. All the Victory fans can hope for is Bandai making an HGUC of it
1/144 scale old gunpla it is
Indeed
