The Entry Grades are definitely a good place to start. Unfortunately there are only a few right now so choice is limited. In truth, there are very, very few bad gunpla kits, and none of them are really beyond anyone with basic model building skills. Some other good kits for beginners are the HG Gyan Revive, which just goes together beautifully. The HG Leo is very nice, too. SD kits can be a good place to start as well. They are not complex or expensive and make for great practice. The SDCS line is probably the best of the SDs. Master Grades I like for their simplicity are the Gunner Zaku Warrior and the Gundam Age-1. Both kits go together really well and look great when done. MG Doms aren't particularly complex, either, and look good. Even the originals from the early 2000s hold up. Any of the kits based on the RX-78 2.0 or the Zaku 2.0 can be a little challenging, especially the Zakus with their power cables. Older MG Zakus can be a real challenge with the way they handle the power cables. Lots of little beads... The Mega-Size kits are very, very simple, but of course quite pricey. Hobby lobby is cool as a starting point. Good starter tools and selection of kits to dip your toes, however I don't think they rotate new/different kits in very well. I've properly started Gunpla with the HG RX-78 after a not so great taste with the HG Double Zeta. Next model kit I want to go after is Char's Zaku 2 then follow with two standard Green Zakus.
Oh yes, and that’s why I added that all HG aren’t created equal. I had a similar rough start with my second or 3rd HG into the hobby. I’m glad you rebound with the RX-78 and stuck with the hobby. Excellent choice!
I have yet to watch that one, but I’m really digging the main mobile suit from that series. Do you have a suggestion on which Mg is best from that series?
nice guide for beginners, for me, entry grade is great for all, for beginners, and for trying multiple things like removing seamlines, adding custom panel line, modding. Then all the origin kits are great for beginners, from HG to MG, gundam and zaku alike. The Age series also great for it, HG, MG and Mega. For me, stay away from 00 series kit, unless u really love them, the 3 new MG from 00 is the only one i recommend, exia and 00 need a 2.0 but PG exia is great if u want to start PG.
@@shazwimalik6087 thank you for checking out the video! And great insight too. So stay away from 00 HG, MG is fine. I’m glad you said that because I have a MG, but was considering getting a HG too in the future. It sounds like you’ve been in the hobby a while!
Been in the hobby for a long time, i would leave the 00 MG too, the only worth one was dynames, virtue, and kyrios. the problem with 00 and exia is their hips easily loosing their grip, happen to my MG Exia, Exia repair, Exia Dark Matter, 00 raiser, 00 7 sword, somehow i still bought em when i knew the problem, wish they made 2.0 of em with better hips. unless u dont mind spending ur time to thicken the hips with glue or the joint thightening stuff, go ahead
One more kit I HIGHLY recommend for your RX 78/RGM 79 setup. Go get yourself an RX-79[g] Gundam Ground type. It's got this cool cannon that comes in 5 parts that fits in a functioning backpack. They didn't ahve to do that, it's an HG kit no one expected that it's SOOOO fucking good.
I think I’ve seen that one while browsing. I’m definitely gonna check that one out next! Thanks for watching, and I hope to catch you on the next one. 🍻
Whenever I get overwhelmed by a “bad” kit. I always go back to hg zakus. Also the blue destiny unit 1 is a great hg. I think it shares a lot with GM models.
Bro, that was so well said! I never even thought of it that way, but that’s my exact feeling towards Zakus and Mk 2s lol Thanks for watching, and I hope to catch you on the next one!
@@tfnut I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. I don’t hear enough about the MK ii. Starting to think it’s pretty slept on. Wonderful robot, in most, if not all grades.
2 of my personal favorite also. I still need the Titan and MK 2 in Hg, but I definitely want to eventually get all 3 in MG. Love those mechs. Glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope to catch you on the next one! 🍻
My first ever kit was Zaku ground war set. Endless diorama material. Dated but not the worst. We need page that will tell us when the model kit was designed. I got 2 MG recently one from 2019 or 20 and one from 2000. Let me say this. If no the fact it was Ez8 I would be dropping it. It was not fun, dies were worn out and misaligned. It looked and fleet like knockoff.
WOW! Yea, some kind of reference page that covers ALL of the kits would be super helpful. I just ordered a MG from 2001 and I hope it’s not a piece of crap either lol. Thanks for checking out my channel by the way! 🍻
here a funny question would bandai 30 minute missions counts as a beginner kits for sone new people into the hobby i been building them for 5 years and its fun to customize too ! .......and also kyoukai senki kits are underated in my opinion.
ABSOLUTELY! I only didn’t include them because they’re not “Gundam”, but they are basically the simplest form of Gunpla HG, which make them PERFECT for beginners. Great call there!
@GunplaandChill hay, maybe you should make it a next video idea on why 30 minutes missions is also great for new beginners and along with the kyouksi senki kits as well in the future because the price are looking good for the hg right now before bandai one day might not reprint them in the far future.
absolutely misleading thumbnail, DO NOT get an MG Quanta as first MG, i know people will just see the thumbnail and go: ''hmm, maybe this will do as first kit, it looks so cool'' without even watching the video to then realize while building it that the joints are way too complicated for beginners, or when it's fully built and they try to pose it the ankle joints will snap off and it won't be able to stand anymore, that is sure to drive off most people from the hobby. misleading thumbnail aside, that's some solid beginner advice i'd say, especially the megasize kits as they are really simple in structure and are pretty much upscaled and simplified versions of HG/RG kits (the RX-78-2 and the Zaku II are based off of the RGs) so they will look good on a shelf PS: spoke from personal experience regarding the MG Quanta, got the 00 Raiser as first MG back in 2014 and since the frame is almost completely the same it will have almost the same level of build + flaws
YOU CAUGHT ME!! 😅😅😅 And thanks man, I’ve had my share of trial and error, and I’m only about 3 months in, so I get it. How is the MG Quanta though? I actually have one in my backlog.
@@GunplaandChill Built the Full Saber version lately, the frame and the clear parts are pretty intricate, the fail point of it are the ankle joints and the wrists, i absolutely recommend an action base for it, the sheer weight of all the equipment will snap off the joints in the ankles otherwise, especially the front bend, that's the weakest aspect of those extremely brittle ankles, oh and also, if you don't plan on using 2 LEDs in the chest i recommend just gluing the GN Drive assembly since the backpack hangs fully on it and the assembly of the GN Drive is really flimsy so it will fall off often and fishing back out the GN Drive from the chest is an agonizing experience to say the least, it really should get the 2.0 treatment
I dont want come off as mean, but you really shouldn't be giving advice on a hobby your still very new to. A lot of your kit suggestions are just blatantly wrong and you didn't mention any master grades, real grades or full mechanics which have plenty of kits (less so real grade) that are beginner friendly. You could have framed this as your experience of getting into the hobby and what kits you've really enjoyed (that you actually built) as a beginner. However, to frame it as "The BEST Gunpla" and as a buyers guide can make you come off as ignorant, pretentious, and can give the impression that your pretending to know more than you do, at least to those who know better and are experienced in the hobby. For those that don't know any better, you could possibly be influencing new people to make poor purchasing decisions, which at best wastes their money and at worst turns them away from the hobby entirely. This is probably harsher than I mean it to be, ultimately I hope you take it constructively and I'm sure you'll keep improving as you dive deeper into the hobby. In the future don't give advice on a kit you yourself haven't built and wait to give your opinion on something once you can truly back it up. Also please buy a hobby knife, use it carefully, nippers alone aren't enough to remove nubs. Looking forward to seeing you improve.
Thanks for the feedback! Not sure you caught the entire title or premise of the video before commenting, but I appreciate it either way! This is a list of good entry level kits for beginners. Assuming you’re more knowledgeable than me, from your response, I take it you believe there are RG and PG I should’ve suggested to BEGINNERS? I’ll take your word for it and I’ll make sure my next list of kits for BEGINNERS includes RG and PG. Thanks again 🍻
@@GunplaandChill Yeah I understand the premise of the video, in my original comment I'm recommending a way you could have made the same video but under a different premise as you being new to the hobby makes you relatable to beginners but judging from what I can see your your not yet qualified to guide people through the hobby, so it would've been more fitting if the premise of this video was going over your experience in the hobby, what kits you've liked and what kits you've been eyeing, which is essentially what this video goes over. I would NOT recommend a beginner to tackle any PGs, however the RG, MG and Full mechanics/RE 1/100 lines all beginner kits. (Unless your big into model kits I'd recommend your first kit should be a high grade or entry grade that being said) Here are some kits that would be good for beginners: RG: (after you've built a handful of models) Nu Gundam Sazabi Mk II (except for some tubing bits that can be aggravating) MG: Jegan F91 Gundam Zaku Warrior Dynames Gundam Age Gundam Mobile Ginn RE 1/100: Vigna-Ghina Gundam Mk III Gun-EZ Zaku II Kai Full Mechanics: Aerial Graze Barbatos Lupus Grimgerde
This list you just shared is your opinion, not fact. The list I gave in the video was my opinion, not fact (as I stated). “These are kits that I think”, or “MY favorites”, and later in the video I ask for others opinion on what kits they thought were good for beginners. No where in my video did I come off as an expert or the topic. In fact, the title of the video tells you everything you need to know. Everything you used to describe how “I might come off”, you’re guilty of 🤣🤣🤣. Very ignorant, very pretentious, and pretending to be someone you’re not. You’re pretending to be a Gunpla gatekeeper. On the other hand, I have ONLY presented myself as a beginner who is sharing their experience and opinion on the Gunpla related subject matters, AS A BEGINNER. You have yet to see the irony in your long ass comment.
@@GunplaandChill Except I have over a decade of experience in this hobby, first hand experience of every kit I listed additional to taking into account the community sentiments I've heard on those kits. I can back my list up many times over, I know you can't do the same because you listed kits I've built, that you stated you hadn't, that are downright horrible. "Long ass comment" sorry I like to fully articulate the point I'm speaking on so that it isn't misconstrued.
You stated my suggestions to beginners were “blatantly wrong”. For beginners, what makes an ENTRY GRADE “blatantly wrong”? For beginners, what makes the HG RX78 and “Jim” Gundams “blatantly wrong”? For beginners, what makes the HG Zaku “blatantly wrong”? For beginners, what makes the HG Mk II and Titan “blatantly wrong”? Notice how 90% < of the comments agreed or found value in the video, and you’re the only random person out of left field who’s thinks otherwise and would rather suggest RG, PG and exacto knives to someone who has never built a model kit. People like you is exactly why I make my beginners videos. This form or weird ass gatekeeping and superiority is very weird in unnecessary in most hobbies. As a beginner, I can honestly say it doesn’t take much to jump into the hobby, and it doesn’t. That’s the premise. Ease your way into the hobby with these fun to build kits. If you have a difference of opinion, that’s great! Make your own video with your own list. Don’t gaslight me with “not to be mean”, and then sh*t on my video, loud and wrong 🤣🤣🤣 You are what’s wrong with most hobbies bro. Not me. Go build a bridge.

I got into gunpla hobby over a year ago , right after I finished watching iron blooded orphans
I have yet to watch that one, but I’m really digging the main mobile suit from that series.
Do you have a suggestion on which Mg is best from that series?
@GunplaandChill definitely mg gundam barbatoes and there is mg gundam vidar that is coming
nice guide for beginners, for me, entry grade is great for all, for beginners, and for trying multiple things like removing seamlines, adding custom panel line, modding.
Chill 🎉
🍻
Whenever I get overwhelmed by a “bad” kit. I always go back to hg zakus. Also the blue destiny unit 1 is a great hg. I think it shares a lot with GM models.
Bro, that was so well said! I never even thought of it that way, but that’s my exact feeling towards Zakus and Mk 2s lol
Thanks for watching, and I hope to catch you on the next one!
Best starter gunpla imo is the HG MK ii (either AEUG or Titans)
@@tfnut I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks so. I don’t hear enough about the MK ii. Starting to think it’s pretty slept on.
Wonderful robot, in most, if not all grades.
Mk 2 titans gundam is my favorite rx gundam , and the gouf custom from 08th ms team
@ excellent idea? I’ll do some more research and probably order a few of my own and get a feel for them.
Thank you for that 🍻
absolutely misleading thumbnail, DO NOT get an MG Quanta as first MG, i know people will just see the thumbnail and go: ''hmm, maybe this will do as first kit, it looks so cool'' without even watching the video to then realize while building it that the joints are way too complicated for beginners, or when it's fully built and they try to pose it the ankle joints will snap off and it won't be able to stand anymore, that is sure to drive off most people from the hobby.
misleading thumbnail aside, that's some solid beginner advice i'd say, especially the megasize kits as they are really simple in structure and are pretty much upscaled and simplified versions of HG/RG kits (the RX-78-2 and the Zaku II are based off of the RGs) so they will look good on a shelf
PS: spoke from personal experience regarding the MG Quanta, got the 00 Raiser as first MG back in 2014 and since the frame is almost completely the same it will have almost the same level of build + flaws
YOU CAUGHT ME!! 😅😅😅
And thanks man, I’ve had my share of trial and error, and I’m only about 3 months in, so I get it.
@@GunplaandChill I'm gonna say it again since it's fully deserved, this video is extremely nice, really liked it
N U Gundam?
Wasn’t sure it’s pronunciation, so I just spelled it out 🤣
I think it’s pronounced “new”?
@@GunplaandChill Yes, it's pronounced "New." It's a letter in the Greek alphabet. That's what that "V" looking symbol is. There's also the HI-Nu.
(Unless your big into model kits I'd recommend your first kit should be a high grade or entry grade that being said)
Here are some kits that would be good for beginners:
RG: (after you've built a handful of models)
Nu Gundam
Sazabi
Mk II (except for some tubing bits that can be aggravating)
MG:
Jegan
F91 Gundam
Zaku Warrior
Dynames Gundam
Age Gundam
Mobile Ginn
RE 1/100:
Vigna-Ghina
Gundam Mk III
Gun-EZ
Zaku II Kai
Full Mechanics:
Aerial
Graze
Barbatos Lupus
Grimgerde
Don’t gaslight me with “not to be mean”, and then sh*t on my video, loud and wrong 🤣🤣🤣
You are what’s wrong with most hobbies bro. Not me. Go build a bridge.
i feel SOOO fortunate that there was one last hg heavy arms at target when i bought it. i had never tried gundam or watched anything ab it, only model i built was a old chevy mystang n my grandpa did all the work, but holy shit when i made the heavy arms my obsession rapidly took off, i swear it felt like a puzzle piece falling right into place, it is the perfect hobby for me. and not to mention the heavy arms helped with that imo. the overthetop heavy guns and color scheme and solid frame ugh
@@djslikk. yea! That heavy arms is pretty cool! lol. I’m eyeing this MG one too. I love the excessive firepower he carries.
@@GunplaandChillomg bro go for it! the mg heavy arms is a top fav of mine, ofc i have a bias but seriously its rly beautiful and a solid build except for the ammo clip loll
