CGI Yoda really brings out his Jedi master skills and his knowledge of the force in his prime. Puppet Yoda shows age, that he's withered down since his exile, but is still the powerful Jedi we know.
Don't know why Bessy hasn't pinned this comment. I couldn't phrase it, but you could. It's like another comment said, "both have their pros and cons". Happy Thanksgiving to you Horizebra, thanks for reading my mind lol
The first one, yeah it totally did. But the cgi one was as good and ep II and III. People talk crap about the remastering CGI but it was totally needed in that case.
Alonzo Ruffin Yoda didn't really seem to have attachments to stuff like that, so his living conditions probably didn't bother him that much. What probably got to him more was not having younglings to train and teach. Judging from the scene where he was training the younglings in Episode 2, that was probably his favorite part of being a Jedi master
My favorite Yoda was the puppet one. It shows how much work its creator put into it. A puppet is more difficult to make because a mistake made may result in the creator starting over.
I preferred cgi yoda, this is because I enjoyed the voice acting a bit more. Puppet yoda seemed to have an inconsistent voice and it never really felt very impressive, furthermore cgi yoda actually would use a light saber, so ya know, that was cool too.
Puppet Yoda also has an inconsistent appearance. Look at OT Yoda, original Phantom Menace Yoda, and TLJ Yoda. All are completely different. At least Yoda in the finalised prequel trilogy is consistent across all three films.
I think it speaks to the evolution of Yoda. As we grow in our understanding of technology and biology we began to put the two together for entertainment purposes. The look of Yoda or any starwars character is a product of our growth as a people. Yoda is like the rest of us. He only gets better with time.
I would like someday for there to be some sort of short film (or full length) about Yoda. It would be something to see him making his home from the time he arrived until before he met Luke. To see how he figured out how to adapt and survive on this planet for so long on his own. It mustn't have been easy, even for Yoda. Alone with nothing but his thoughts, constantly reflecting on his mistakes and how the Jedi fell. I would like to see where his resolve came from. That single thing that kept his hope alive all that time.
Puppet Yoda ofcourse. I remember me and my father watching Empire and being introduced to Yoda. I was 4 yrs old then now i am 28. I understand why Yoda needed to be cgi, but the puppet is my youth sentiment, and I know so is with many others.
for me both, by the time we see yoda he is at his last little legs.. so the puppet really sell the fact that he is heckin old and is maybe becoming demented and less agile
CGI Yoda because there would be no other way to show off his acrobatic dueling capabilities with a puppet. And he look and moved more naturally than the puppet did so he didn't stand out too much from anyone else being a little green man.
That question you asked about which Yoda is preferred I feel is a very good question. I definitely preferred Empire strikes back Yoda. And as corny as it may sound, he just seem so much more real. My lease like Yoda is episode one Yoda. Maybe because he was supposed to seem younger, but he just seems so fake, literally.
Why did Yoda leave in an E-3 lifeboat, but when he arrives on Dagobah, he's got a much larger escape pod/life boat in the various images, did I miss anything?
Happy Thanksgiving Bessy! I agree with you, I loved certain things about both. CGI Yoda showed his real capablities, and puppet yoda showed his old age and perhaps even the loneliness he must have felt without other Jedi. Powerful enough to feel them there, but too dangerous to contact them. It makes me wonder if he felt a bit of fear himself? I hope you all ate plenty of turkey haha. Have a good night Star Wars Fans!
My favourite is the animated Yoda in the Clone Wars TV series. The animators and the actor who provides the voice show us Yoda at his best, wise, intelligent, funny and really cute :)
The puppet has major points for taking me back to my childhood, but the CGI Yoda had moves that blew my mind. It’s a tough pick, but I’m gonna say CGI.
Planet Dagobah reminds me SO VERY VERY MUCH of the south Louisiana swamps and bayous that I remember as a child when I lived in Slidell, Louisiana in the mid-1970’s.
Whoever took that picture of supposed,Yarrow seeds....being a Botanist,I can say with certainty that those are in fact "Cannibis seeds! Who would ever thought!!
Obviously I liked seeing Yoda being able to wield a lightsaber in his CGI form but the moment I’ll never forget is when Luke gets upset at him and he says “I can’t teach him the boy has no patience” “much anger in him like his father” that moment right there is why I’ll always prefer the puppet
Both had moments where they looked horrible. Both have their challenges, so this is to be expected. But the teams George Lucas put together did l phenomenal jobs with Yoda. Both puppet and CGI versions of Yoda looked amazing. The teams that did the cartoon series and one movie did a phenomenal job with that Yoda too.
Long live Puppet Yoda, though I understand the need for the CGI version for the fight scenes. But CGI Yoda, has no scenes as enjoyable as watching puppet Yoda fight R2-D2 for a lamp, always makes me smile.
I liked both. The puppet from empire was great and felt real. The puppet in phantom menace was terrible but the cgi one in aotc and rots was great because it actually fit in. The way the light hit it along with the way it pierced his ears like real ones.
The CGI Yoda had more movement than the hand puppet. I believe that what Lucas had to bring Yoda to life, made us all believe in the Grandmaster. He is the Ultimate Jedi, in my book.
Cgi Yoda looked cleaner and better looking while puppet Yoda looked more real as in a real being and made him older so tbh I don't have a pick I love both cgi& puppet yoda
I grew up with the original triology, so the puppet Yoda is what I was use to. That said, of course the CGI Yoda looked & moved more real. And so I quickly came to like it better.
CGI yoda is my favorite because they could have him fight sidious. If we only had the puppet that iconic fight wouldnt be there or if it was, it would probably look choppy.
Puppet Yoda in the Original Trilogy was funny at times, random, and sort of had a twisted mind (most likely from age and isolation). CGI Yoda was more serious and his complex expressions exemplified his power and showed how wise he was just in the way he looked. So I honestly prefer CGI Yoda just because of how wise and bad ass he was, but before I trigger anyone I just want to say that I love Og puppet yoda, just for different reasons.
I like the planet dagobah, unlike tatoine which has very hot weather and no real ocean, Dagobah has a swampy and cool environment and its basically an asmr at night because of all the insects and creatures there
I like both yodas but for diffrent reasons. The cgi one seemed more lively, more energetic wich fitted a younger version. The puppet yoda seemed a lot slower and more tired over all to me. Thus it fitted a near death yoda.
CGI Yoda. While the original is great for showing a wise knowledgeable and humorous character that acts as a mentor, the CGI one not only looks better but shows how badass a Jedi he really was.
I like both since in the cgi yoda is shown more of a being having more to do while the puppet version is like if he wants to train luke and then it doesn't matter what happens to himself which I feel is what is happening in the movies
Bessy, the narrator of this video is sadly mistaken & wrong. The last Star Wars film to feature the "Puppet-Yoda" is Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. The first of the Prequel Trilogy. If anybody out there thinks I'm full of it, think again & go look it up if you really need the proof.
let out some force gas and said "that was a long trip to hold gas for so long must let this force flow out threw my behind." "oooo", the force was strong with me and smells like it to...
Actually bessy my favourite yoda was the robot chicken one
Nishaan Singh Agreed
Nishaan Singh agreed
Bawk
Agreed
100%
CGI Yoda really brings out his Jedi master skills and his knowledge of the force in his prime. Puppet Yoda shows age, that he's withered down since his exile, but is still the powerful Jedi we know.
Truth.
Good logic, I can see how that makes sense to me and never paid attention to that.
Don't know why Bessy hasn't pinned this comment. I couldn't phrase it, but you could. It's like another comment said, "both have their pros and cons". Happy Thanksgiving to you Horizebra, thanks for reading my mind lol
Chaz Wilson you too! Thank you
Horizebra how was he in his prime in the prequels? He was already 870 years old in the prequels so he was far from his prime
he went crazy. Yoda went nuts, i blame the soups he made
You mean the ones made out of nuts and mushrooms?
Timm Roberts he had to many mushrooms
Timm Roberts mmmm good food. How you grow so big eating food of this kind.
"good food hmm good?"
I blame the weed he smoked for over 900 years
I equally love both versions, both versions have their pros and cons.
Solution: Fusion Technique or Potara EarRings
What would the name be though?
Elemental Jedi how dare you have an open view point on something in a comment section
Elemental Jedi I agree
I concur.
There should be a Yoda-themed hut for the Star Wars hotel
Richard Lew as long as I get to smoke Dagobah green, I'm game
I'm kinda in between, I grew up watching the prequels. I liked the ESB and ROTJ Yoda. The Phantom Menace Yoda looked weird lol.
The first one, yeah it totally did. But the cgi one was as good and ep II and III. People talk crap about the remastering CGI but it was totally needed in that case.
yeah the crossed eyed ugly yoda pissed me off
Last Jedi Yoda is the worst
Problem is the puppet method is never consistent. OT Yoda, PM Yoda and TLJ Yoda are all completely different.
At least CGI is consistent
@@CaptainMyCaptain33 yoda turning up was the only part of that film I liked
I actually feel bad for Yoda, he lost everything pretty much. He once lived in a luxurious temple, then was forced to live in swamp.
+Licjr 1018 He did to those seagulls
Licjr 1018 Also confusing people with his sentences
So he's the Dalai Lama of outer space. Good for him.
Poor Shrek had to go from living in a luxurious swamp to living in a palace in Shrek 2. I feel worse for him.
I loved the original prequel yoda. The CGI was as advanced, so he was a puppet with a little CGI enhancement.
TheREAL Obi-Wan Kenobi the grand master is not animated obi
I like the prequel yoda as the cgi helped to give him more emotion in his expression thus making him feel more real.
My favorite Yoda was the puppet one. It shows how much work its creator put into it. A puppet is more difficult to make because a mistake made may result in the creator starting over.
Yoda's different looks have all had some impact on me and I would have to say that the Clone Wars Yoda is the coolest version.
I preferred cgi yoda, this is because I enjoyed the voice acting a bit more. Puppet yoda seemed to have an inconsistent voice and it never really felt very impressive, furthermore cgi yoda actually would use a light saber, so ya know, that was cool too.
It's the same voice....
TheJRMproductions I don’t think you get it
Puppet Yoda also has an inconsistent appearance. Look at OT Yoda, original Phantom Menace Yoda, and TLJ Yoda. All are completely different. At least Yoda in the finalised prequel trilogy is consistent across all three films.
Puppet Yoda was funny asf though.
I think it speaks to the evolution of Yoda. As we grow in our understanding of technology and biology we began to put the two together for entertainment purposes. Both Yodas were awesome in their own ways
I love these small detail comics. Keep making more because you got me sharing to everyone I know who loves Star Wars.
Yoda smoked too much HASH that is why he hit R2-D2 with his cane in Episode 5.
Prince Sheogorath hell ya yoda was lookin for the weed man asoon as he dropped on that planet
+OGKFabrication I mean you guys point is proven on the thumbnail on this video
😂
for me both, by the time we see yoda he is at his last little legs.. so the puppet really sell the fact that he is heckin old and is maybe becoming demented and less agile
thumbnail yoda looks high
The force bong for meditation.
The CGI yoda is my Favorite
CGI Yoda because there would be no other way to show off his acrobatic dueling capabilities with a puppet. And he look and moved more naturally than the puppet did so he didn't stand out too much from anyone else being a little green man.
Yoda: Wise Jedi Master, Powerful Force User, Unrivaled Interior Decorator, but not that great of a cook.
Both Yodas are cool and all. But what about Phantom Menace puppet creepypasta Yoda?
They both fit. CGI yoda is slightly younger than old coot puppet exiled yoda
I feel like both were perfect for their time, really showed proper aging for the time jumps between the two sagas.
Why did Yoda leave in an E-3 lifeboat, but when he arrives on Dagobah, he's got a much larger escape pod/life boat in the various images, did I miss anything?
Happy Thanksgiving Bessy! I agree with you, I loved certain things about both. Original. Not because of the CG, but because his character was more interesting.
I love the background music. It sounds like something that would suit Yoda. What is the name of it?
My favourite is the animated Yoda in the Clone Wars TV series. The animators and the actor who provides the voice show us Yoda at his best, wise, intelligent, funny and really cute :)
Why did obi wan say that Yoda was the only Jedi to train him when Qui-Gon did as well?
It’s amazing how Dagobah has “no mosquitoes”. 🦟
I loved both the CGI and the puppet, cause with the puppet, you got to learn about Yoda and with the CGI, we learn about the Young Master Yoda. 😎!!
Puppet Yoda in the originals was the best since he wasn't serious all the time and made jokes but was serious when he had to be when training Luke.
Shrek: what are you doing in my swamp!?
Yoda: In My Swamp, What Are You Doing?
The puppet has major points for taking me back to my childhood, but the CGI Yoda had moves that blew my mind. It’s a tough pick, but I’m gonna say CGI.
Since I grew up in the prequel era, CGI Yoda will probably always be my favorite.
I heard somewhere that Yoda would move from high ground to low ground during different seasons. Any truth to this, cannon noncannon.
Loved it good work my Force brother
Planet Dagobah reminds me SO VERY VERY MUCH of the south Louisiana swamps and bayous that I remember as a child when I lived in Slidell, Louisiana in the mid-1970’s.
What yoda did immediately arriving on dogobah he became a puppet
Whoever took that picture of supposed,Yarrow seeds....being a Botanist,I can say with certainty that those are in fact "Cannibis seeds! Who would ever thought!!
Can you do a legend's version of this?
Puppet Yoda went through Luke’s stuff like a stoner looking for snacks.
Thr otiginal yoda but the cgi yoda is fine
As much as I like puppet Yoda gives the puppeteers Yoda more-like movement, I keep on expecting for Fozzie Bear to come in and make a joke.
I really like the background music. It really suits Master Yoda.
Can you review the Chicken rat speices that lived on mos Eisley
The CGI Yoda of revenge of the sith was dope back them. With the actual tecnology in capture of facial movements it would be awesome!
Puppet Yoda just had more reality and feeling than CGI.
1:45
Now I know why Yoda really went to Degobah.
These sweet sweet 'yarum' seeds
The puppet Yoda is a makes you feel nostalgic but the CGI one is just better.
What about the puppet yoda used in the Phantom Menace?
It was most likely, Yoda was ALREADY dead by the time Luke found him!
Both have the pros and cons. CGI Yoda was able to show much more emotion than a puppet could but never looked like it was actually there
I liked puppy yoda because of the blooper from the Funeral scene in Phantom Menace.
That depends on whether or not his pod was equipped with a bathroom.
Though, the puppets from Phantom Menace and Last Jedi weren't great at all. (Still like both movies)
What did Yoda do immediately after arriving on Dagobah? He began "aging" at 10 times the rate on this new planet, than he had on Coruscant.

Living on seeds? Thats gotta give some serious runs. :D Thats something your will never hear about in the movies
Cgi...shows how beyond epic he is
The one like is the Puppet one of the OT. It looked so real and still does to this very day.
I like both. Honestly you couldn't use a puppet to do the bad ass prequel stuff. Which still blows my mind and is some if the best stuff put on film.
I prefer the puppet Yoda, but I have to appreciate how impressive the CGI version was.
Another great video, 🙏🙇
Something that acts in front of a camera will always be better than an image that exists in a computer just like Jabba the Hutt.
No attachments, no possesions, no wealth...Living like a true Jedi.
Puppet Yoda in the Original Trilogy was funny at times, random, and sort of had a twisted mind (most likely from age and isolation). CGI Yoda was more serious and his complex expressions exemplified his power and showed how wise he was just in the way he looked. Puppet Yoda from the OT, no question. The CG from III looks good, but every other iteration of Yoda I think does not look enough like Episode V.
CGI for how realistic it wad. Puppet for the ability to interact with it.
those seeds at 1:52 look an awful lot like weed seeds
Both supriseingly, but CGI Ghost Yoda was a shocker
Puppet yoda brings up the most nostalgia but the cgi is very amazing and personally better to me
The puppet Yoda makes a good muppet! He's my favorite version!!!
Hallo from, Germany your channel is awesome.
My favorite Yoda is the one voiced by Gordon Ramsay.
Both are fine, but the digital version allows us to see him fight, so it is overall better. The puppet in TLJ looked strange.
I wish the end of Yoda’s life could have been happier! It was kinda sad and depressing when you think about it.
Oddly enough, Yoda's hut looks rather comfortable.
Did the Rebels build a monument for Yoda or Obi-Wan?
Bessy, the narrator of this video is sadly mistaken & wrong. The last Star Wars film to feature the "Puppet-Yoda" is Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. The first of the Prequel Trilogy. If anybody out there thinks I'm full of it, think again & go look it up if you really need the proof.
How did he evade discovery though?
Anyone else love the clone wars yoda?
He's also cool.
hey bessy do you have an Xbox one ?
Puppet Yoda all day, love that crazy bean eating Jedi
Any version of Grandmaster Yoda is the best version of Grandmaster Yoda.
let out some force gas and said "that was a long trip to hold gas for so long must let this force flow out threw my behind." "oooo", the force was strong with me and smells like it to...
