The only thing that mattered was pushing woke agenda and having strong female leads and people of colour showcased in prominent positions of power, deposing any white males, which had to be shown as weak/stupid/always wrong, it was the only thing they cared about. It is THE narrative and the true sequel trilogy was not explicitly designed to that so it had to go. This is what happens when fascists are in power. Left wing fascists are in power.

It physically pains me how Disney just took this amazing franchise and set it on fire the way they did. KK and auger betrayed George’s trust with ruining his literal life’s work and passion project and I can’t imagine how he feels. They have no respect for him at all and it’s so sad
What gets me is how the Lucas sequels ticked so any boxes: The Force is Female- Lea becomes the Supreme Chancellor. Original fans- get to see Luke rebuild the Jedi. Prequel fans - Darth Maul is an underworld Boss. Legends fans: That Twilek Sith girl etc. The story sounds so good but I guess Kathleen Kennedys massive ego wouldn't allow it. Oh well
He kind of should have never sold it. It's not like he really needed the money or anything. I read years ago he got a $500 million dollar deal back in the early 2000s for the merchandising rights. Disney did the final trilogy so wrong. As a Star Wars fan I would’ve loved to see the movies come full circle and for the Jedi Order and Republic to be rebuilt once again. George really knew what Star Wars fans wanted. Just so sad that his vision didn’t come to fruition.
Honestly Disney was just trying to make as much money as possible and because of the severe reaction to the prequels they thought making the sequel trilogy as different to the prequels and as similar to the originals as possible was the way to go. The problem with Disney is that they had no artistic vision like Lucas would have had. They were only basing it on trying to make fans happy. The Force Awakens was made to please fans who hated the prequels. The Last Jedi was made for fans who hated The Force Awakens. The Rise of Skywalker was made to for fans who hated The Last Jedi.

George is a fantastic story and ideas guy. Great at world building. I wish they had used his stories and made a screenplay and got other directors to shoot it. The key problem with the sequel trilogy is that they had no story to tell, they were creatively bankrupt so they asked the directors to wing it. They resorted to undoing the past stories in order to rehash them, just creating minimal plot to justify making more movies.

I just have to say that George's blueprint for Luke's end is epic and the real way that he would go. Imagine in Episode 9 that maybe his child falls to the dark side and his compassion saves them just like it saved Anakin and at the end after he gives his last lesson and farewell, he gives his life so his children can live like he wanted Anakin to at the end of RotJ. Now that would be a respectful way to end the story of Luke Skywalker.

George was really bad at letting this guy die in the first movie, after realizing how great it was that Darth Vader survived _Star Wars._ Imagine _The Empire Strikes Back_ without Yoda (because Obi-Wan survives) and without Darth Vader, because Han Solo kills him in the trench battle. Then throw in Ricardo Montalban as Lando Calrissian instead of Billy Dee Williams. You could take down two franchises with one casting!
Wow, imagine actually calling back to previous content (in this case the Father, Son, and Daughter in Close War’s Morris Arc and Vader, Luke, and Leia in the OT) instead of pulling a “Force Diad” our of nowhere.
I really wish Disney had tried to make his sequel trilogy. Lucas has amazing ideas and, in my opinion, they are best executed when he gives them to talented directors like Irvin Kirshner. What a missed opportunity.
Despite what Disney and people say, the sequel trilogy to me, is not cannon and it will never be. Star Wars is George Lucas and without him its not really the same.
Mandalorian, Rogue One, and Boba Fett are all very Star Wars. The sequels were just a huge failure. Its not necessarily the lack of George Lucas that caused that failure.
Favreau and Filoni need to just grow a pair and just do it. Kathleen is on her way out, they should just finish the job they are doing right now and quit dicking around.
There's no reason they can't. With what they're able to do in The Volume right now, it might not even need to be animated. I think we'll get there eventually. It's just going to take a long time because a lot of egos have to be moved out of the way.
Imagine Dave, Jon and George getting together and re doing the sequels... just , just imagine man... and dear Carrie is still with us to join it... :'(
I still think it can be done, especially if they can bring Peter Cushing back from the dead. Have her daughter or an actress that looks similar play her then CGI Leia onto her. Either that or make it entirely CGI. Yes, it wouldn’t be the same, but it would at least finish the story properly.

The darth maul character arc created by the clone wars was great. If he was already brought back by the show, it’d make sense to have him hang low till that new trilogy. Palpatine was either in space or in the Death Star when it exploded. The idea of him being powerful enough to survive was kinda stupid, given the lore. Maybe he lives as a spirit like other sith did in the old republic or something, but def can’t live. That just felt like Disney was lazy and didn’t wanna create a new villain and copied the OT. Considering what we actually got, I would’ve rather they claimed that Mace Windu survived his fall on coroscant by using the dark side of the force and turned into a sith, since he already utilizes the dark side of the force anyway. That’d also create a joke in Star Wars lore that if someone falls, it doesn’t mean that they died. But what we got was straight up lazy. Didn’t learn about Snoke or the Knights of Ren really and the good guys won by the power of “friendship.” It’s a load of Disney princess movie crap
Just there at the beginning with George Lucas stating that it takes him ten years to make a trilogy shows the difference between the quality that he wanted fir Star Wars versus the quantity that Disney attempted. I would love to see the complete vision of George Lucas.
George had been writing that original script for years before production began. And let’s not forget that Lucasfilm was also also producing in TV and spin off films during the time of the sequel trilogy’s production. The company was entirely focused on One Star Wars film at a time during both earlier trilogies, with each released at three years intervals.
It would be interesting if in a few years Dave and John ask to make a trilogy meant to honor George’s storyline as much as possible that could replace 7-9. I think Disney might be down considering the backlash they got from the films and the fact that Dave and John have made some of the best Star Wars content ever for the fans, and Disney knows that.

Had Vader reached his full potential he would have the power to take Sidious but as we all know he never would reach that level. But going back to Maul and Talon I love the idea and would go and see that for sure
Darth Maul was not the right choice for the big bad. It was very obvious in his appearances in the Clone Wars series and even in Rebels that his end in Rebels is the only end he could have. He was obsessed with Obi Wan Kenobi and he kept failing. He would not have been able to stay hidden long enough to be alive by the end of Return of the Jedi. Darth Talon might be good, but Maul got the end he needed.

The confirmation of Maul being more involved in the plans for this trilogy makes his appearance in the end of Solo legit. And kind of gives the whole Solo movie stronger legs to stand on.
You know the Solo cameo came after they'd already killed Maul off in Rebels, right? They did the cameo knowing full well where Maul's story would eventually go and how it would end. That, plus the cameo being informed by everything they'd done with Maul in The Clone Wars and Rebels, pretty well negates any plans they would've had for him in a sequel trilogy.

Not sure tbh. Casual viewers wouldn’t want to have to watch an animated “kids” show just to know how maul came back so I’d think they’d explain it in film.
It really comes across as hubris on Disney's part to not consider Lucas' treatments for the third trilogy, considering the body of work he has made and the precedent set with the writing of his saga so far being so cohesive.
How is it concrete? The story planned seems boring. Rebuilding a republic and having the two bad guys be crime lords. You need to have the good guys be the underdogs. But this story proposes the bad guys to be the under dogs. Is there really any point in releasing it? The rebuilding of the Republic should be a 3minute part of a film. Like a couple of shots of Luke training new Jedi, and a shot of Leia being crowned the chancellor. It doesn't need 8 hours to tell this kind of story. I think a much better story could be written
As much as I love Disney, I think they rushed star wars. It doesn't make sense how they let marvel go for 10+ years, yet they rushed right thru the last trilogy and just changing things without being true to the product. George Lucas is a visionary and should have been listened to.
You're not wrong. What they did with the MCU for the most part was amazing.. although I think Captain Marvel and Rey might have been roommates in college who both got a doctorate in Mary Sue. That said the rate at which they cranked out mostly good movies that tied into each other to tell a major story was dare I say unprecedented. Incredible they could do so much so close together and tie it all in like that was nothing short of incredible. That is what happens with a solid cohesive vision. Without that... You have the Disney Star Wars Trilogy. No idea where it's going and it just got akward and felt wrong.
Sure Lucas is thinking now having Luke married in Legends wasn't such a so horrible idea. By the way, what's the problem with having Luke married? I think not allowing attachments with others was one of the reasons the Old Jedi Order fell
I think if he made it now he would add that. Would also show how Lukes order is better, proving the old order wrong, that the Jedi can have emotion and not fall.
George said they weren't celibate, they just couldn't turn attachment due to that leading to fear and selfishness of losing that person and that lead to the dark side. Anakin didn't want you sleep with Padme he loved her so he was doomed from the beginning. There's a Obiwan and Qui Gon novel and they meet a Jedi that actually says he has relations with other beings just not relationships. The celibacy thing was over exaggerated.
@@CoolMyron that was one thing I liked about the new Jedi order the Jedi of that order was more human they weren’t some religious robotic zealots afraid of a motion afraid of attachment
@@HyperspaceCafe But the point here is that not allowing attachments was still one of the many reasons the Old Order fell. And I don't find logical Lucas would want to keep those traditions with Luke and possibly his new Order

@@tedsheridan8725 I haven’t grown up with the prequels. In fact I grew up with the sequels. I learnt of star wars with the sequels. But after watching everything I can agree the sequels were shit
We were definitely robbed of George's vision. He continued the Skywalker saga while Disney killed off the lineage. Disney has felt the story with no where to go. Their triology had no plan but to kill off everything that was George. Their Star Wars land in Disney World is based of their trilogy alone. There is nothing of the previous 6 Episodes represented. I feel the trilogy should have been a colaboration between Lucas and Disney rather than a cut off of George altogether. When the creator of the universe did even both to go to the premieres of the last two films it spoke volumes to the Star Wars community of his thoughts toward the path taken by Disney.
Robbed of George's vision? It was literally ripped up thrown on the ground and spat upon. Think about where the sequels leave us. Luke is dead. Leia is dead. Ben Solo is dead. The Skywalker lineage is effectively ended. Rey Palpitine is alive. She killed her own grandfather just like he wanted her too. Just like a Sith would. He literally tells her to strike him down. She has effectively begun her descent into the dark side even though she doesn't realize it yet. Luke knew it when he first starts training her that she goes to the dark and doesn't flinch. She's already shown she fights most effectively out of anger and frustration. She's just too young to realize the true path she's on. Essentially Palpitine won. I can hear him cackling to his grave.
@@donpietruk1517 Exactly!! I can't argue any differently. The whole Skywalker lineage is gone and the story has no where to go now. All that is left is to create series that fill in the gaps as they have with Mando, Book of Boba Fett, and now Obi Wan.

if someone makes the actual George Lucas sequels, it would be the best that ever happened for the Star Wars community
Also a very bad choice.
false equivalence darth maul isnt a sith lord (even in george's st, he was an expendable asset to palpatine who was the true mastermind and villain of the star wars saga, by bringing him back it makes everything that happened in the originals invalid including anakin's sacrifice
He said he doesn't like the sequel trilogy and personally doesn't consider it to be canon (same), so he likely doesn't agree with Disney resurrecting Palpatine. IMO it undermines Anakin's redemption/sacrifice at the end of VI.
@@Luncea28 he says they're not part of his vision, im sure he doesnt like the trilogy but he's not allowed to criticize because of some sort of contract he signed
Disney spent 6-7 years creating their sequels while george spent like 8 years on the originals. Not too much of a difference

The Darth Maul Crime Lord storyline in Clone wars was FANTASTIC and I remember thinking that it deserved an entire season instead of being crowded together. There were plenty of filler episodes in that season that didn't need to be there.

episode 8 - whole planets and systems, even whole chunks of the galaxy, break away to form their own rival governments, ISIS-style terrorism becomes major threat. return of the Sith, which uses crime syndicates to return to major power.

it would probably be 7 organizing and whole systems and planets joining crime lords the new republic / whoever Lucas would call them Skywalker isnt helping leia because hes busy with jedi so leia and Han handle the crime but it doesn't work out 8 would probably be about Skywalker trying to train jedi and having problems because of crime and corruptness so he join they begin fighting some of the crime business but after they try to fight them they join together and unite under the new Sith empire like Crazysilly said and Maul and Talon is shown to be the ones behind this andboom conflict

For those that were not alive when the original trilogy was released: I *REMEMBER* reading about George Lucas publicly saying he had a story outline for _NINE MOVIES,_ with *STAR WARS [1977],* *THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK [1980],* and *RETURN OF THE JEDI [1983]* being the _middle three_ of the nine.

The sad truth is that the Star Wars fans crying about it now are the same Star Wars fans who were cheering about how Disney did that to Lucas.
@@jaded3618 So this is how Star Wars dies... with thunderous applause.
@@briand9248 Yeah I have a head cannon shot in my mind at the end when she says her name is Rey..... Skywalker Darth Sidious's force ghost is almost visible inside Rey's face smiling malevolently like he's once again gonna play the whole galaxy.
I love you Star Wars theory. You share the same love and passion for the franchise as I do. Truly admirable the work you’ve done
I believe Disney should have respected Georges wishes and brought his image to life
May the Force be with you
You know they wouldn't do that they are sensitive and want to get their own way of things we call them brats
The only thing that gives me hope is that since the Mandalorian, Rogue One etc have been so successful and well written, maybe one day we will get main saga Star Wars movies which are as good as George Lucas’s Star Wars movies. Disney are certainly showing potential with The Mandalorian in particular.
Hopefully old republic or high because I have cero Interest in what comes after the resistance
Disney is not calling the shots for Mandalorian in the same way they did with the sequels.
Mandalorian is being created by people who actually like starwars as apposed to JJ and that other random director.
Those two are not star wars fans and neither are the suits at Disney. THey are just there for a paycheck and disney for the toys.
@@GLUFSAREN they are still doing the same mistakes by adding random directors, as you can see in book of boba fett. Imo this is why it's a 6.5 at best. If it was filoni at the head of everything it would be all we ever wanted
@@GLUFSAREN that Kathleen Kennedy fuck face, she was the reason the sequels were so fucking "woke"
@@cowboy_levi6283 yeahi'm not a fan of her, she needs to be fired and never work in show business again. But that doesnt mean everything she does is bad.
I’m imagining Leia in the chancellor’s throne thing right now with the final shot of the trilogy being her standing up and a closing in shot of her saying “Alright let’s get to work”
They would’ve already have been rebuilding the republic tho
@@DefecTec no I’m saying like getting to work making laws after they had rebuilt the republic
Nah, she would be saying “I am the Senate”

am I mistaken, but he had a overall concept of what and where he wanted to go with characters and story but most of the % of his films plots were wrote/ created right literally before he starts filming?
Just imagine George was to somehow buy back Lucas films and the Star Wars franchise, and rewrite the sequels, it’s what I need, and then my life will be complete
He could or we can all stand up from Disney in court and play the long waiting game of Disney being closer of slipping up

I hope he didn’t want to resurrect me, that was stupid
But let me guess, you really enjoyed when Disney brought back Boba Fett and Maul, right?
@@rebelpilot7015 For Boba Fett, he escaped the Sarlax Pit an additional two times so it works out that he escapes for a third time, as for Darth Maul, George Lucas intended him to live to be utilized for the final three sequels. Bringing back Palpatine completely voids George Lucas’ continuation of his vision, and uses plot armor and cloning to explain how that old crippled Sith Lord survived that fall, I’d simply call it unjust and lazy
Despite the flaming dumpster fire rebels was I did appreciate maul dying to Obi wan tho
Well Maul was barely in TPM and had so much more to offer. Sheev got 6 episodes of villainy already. TROS just milked him cuz Ruin killed off Snoke. Besides, Maul fell down a hole with no legs, Sheev fell down a hole then blew up, then the entire death star blew up
@@rebelpilot7015 boba fett looked stupid while maul looked like chalkboard
Theory I have to thank you for not shying away from the obvious schism in the fandom. Some other content creators do not want to address the massive creative differences due to it being such a volatile subject. However this is hugely important for people to know about and talk about. This discourse, no matter how rough it may be, it vital.
He profits off of the schism so why wouldn’t he address it?
I think about Star Wars a lot. I'm new to this channel. So far it's really entertaining. I don't hate episode 7. That one was pretty good, more or less. 8 & 9 are failed projects though as far as I'mm concerned. Carrie Fisher was a wonderful person and I miss her dearly. I definitely don't see George's ideas as perfect either. I actually like the idea of adding new characters to the saga, especially since the original actors were getting older, and we lost Carrie herself. I do however think Disney's characters were poorly written. Thank you for sharing this video, it's well done. I also think Darth Talon has an appealing look too.
It’s a serious shame how money and politics get in the way of beautiful storytelling not just Star Wars
"Oh no, I'm not brave enough for politics."
- Obi-Wan Kenobi, Revenge of the Sith
Same thing happened in DCEU , warner media destroyed Zack Snyder's view of DCEU.
Wow, George's treatment sounds amazing! I would have loved to have seen them. Looking forward to seeing what John and Dave do with the franchise knowing how much they respect George.
With kathleen kennedy being around you know, it's gonna be quite hard
I loved star wars since I was baby, George Lucas made star wars 1-6 and those films were part of my childhood and I always cherish them to this day, Revenge of the Sith was my first star wars movie to see in theaters and it still my favorite star wars film of all time!
Yes, I’m I’m a goat in 1-6 in 9 I forget to stop my lighting and die. *sigh* I miss George.
I grew up with those 6 wonderful movies, they're still in my top 100 or top 50 all time favorite movies, Revenge of the Sith is my favorite of them as well!
One of my best childhood memories was meeting Dave Prowse in full Vader costume at John Menzies in Edinburgh when i was 7 .
He seemed to be 9 feet tall and was terrifying and wonderful.
I would love for George to tell his version of the sequel trilogy as novels
Uh no, big screen
This is the video we've been looking for.
