Wish you were here at my farm this last two weeks: i bought a new cornell 5rb-f for a whopping $9,000 Can $, the dealer at Lethbridge Alberta Canada installed it on to the engine for another $2,300, they didn't even give me an operating manual, and the impeller then rubbed against the housing and kept stalling the engine (keep in mind the dealer blamed me because i didn't know i was supposed to throw some water into the intake before connecting the suction pipe)! So it didn't pump a single gallon of water the first week. I took it back to them and their repairman replace a few inner parts and he also "fully greased the packing/lantern ring assembly". Cornell dealer said it must be engine's fault so engine guys looked at engine. So this second week i started it up and it went 12 hours and shut down. Dealer said must be air leak in intake pipe. Then it ran for 10 minutes and shut down. Later i got it to run for 25 minutes and it shut down. It is not the engine. Yesterday spent whole day checking for air leaks. Made the discovery that if i continually bailed water on to the lantern rings holders, that it did prime up a bit and pumped water at one-fifth rate but i shut it down. Yesterday i loosened two nuts and turned grease cup in by half turn, and slightly tightened nuts. Can feel a slight air bubble every ten seconds on outlet flange that hooks to mainline. It sucks cold water up to intake no problem, no feeling of bubbles on intake pipe. So have owned my new Cornell for two weeks and it is so discouraging to watch the crop wither not having been irrigated once. Any ideas?
