This was so so powerful. I know many who need this kind of conversation. They hesitate to accept themselves as Muslim, n now call themselves agnostic,, n what not. The problem is he has been criticized in srilanka as being a muslim. I know people in sri lanka especially hindus, and christians they hate islam to their core and it becomes pyschologically very challenging and frustating to maintain your muslim identity. Years and years of criticism and hatred takes toll on some people especially if you are not well educated about your religion, if you live in extreme poverty, if you are prosecuted because being a muslim and if you are also a minority. Finally some people just give up and dont want to struggle with it. But ultimately they are the ones who fail the test of life. Many people want to live good life by selling their faith in exchange. This guy seems one of them.

But this exactly why we hold onto the quran, if you look at the end of surat-Al-tahrim you see how the wife of the Pharaoh Aasiyah who remained steadfast and her husband was the biggest tyrant to ever live. You see the example of maryam who was steadfast with her lord during the hardest times of accusations and slander. A wise person lets people see their own errors rather than pointing them out. The passive aggressive approach allows people to lead themselves into a contradiction, which proves that their own argument is faulty or wrong. Interfaith marriages are not uncommon at all; one of my own Muslim relatives is (informally) married to a Sinhalese Buddhist, and I know a family friend whose household practices both Christianity and Buddhism. Even though there are relatively fewer Christians, they are received much more favourably compared to Muslims due to the contrasting media portrayals of these religions. And just 5 years ago there were the horrible Easter Sunday attacks our brother mentioned (the civil war ended a decade prior to that) that sowed even more discord between Muslims and those of other faiths. Not to mention there exist those far-right politicians and Wirathu-esque extremists who actively discriminate against and harass Muslims, but I digress. it's not "greek philosophical framework" it's basic logical thinking which Allah gave us and uses in the quran. i never read a greek philosophical book or even know the word philosophy around the age of 10 but when i learned about mirages (i live in the middle east) and that all your senses can be manipulated plus i had and still have a very active imagination and could lucid dream very realistic worlds that i can come to whenever i go to sleep i questioned all of existence including my own i even came upon a video at age 12 about the concept of brain in a jar and a code in a supermachine. but no matter what i question the very fact that existence exist then that means there is someone who made this experience which is Allah, it was innate. that is why i never questioned islam but it was always based on this fundamental logical thinking, using my faculties that Allah gave me. to realize that to have this experience there has to be someone who provided this experience.

To be honest I don't blame him at all. Sri Lanka is a pluralist society where Buddhism is the majority religion; Hindus, followed by Muslims and Christians are minorities. Interfaith marriages are not uncommon at all; one of my own Muslim relatives is (informally) married to a Sinhalese Buddhist, and I know a family friend whose household practices both Christianity and Buddhism.
Even though there are relatively fewer Christians, they are received much more favourably compared to Muslims due to the contrasting media portrayals of these religions. And just 5 years ago there were the horrible Easter Sunday attacks our brother mentioned (the civil war ended a decade prior to that) that sowed even more discord between Muslims and those of other faiths. Not to mention there exist those far-right politicians and Wirathu-esque extremists who actively discriminate against and harass Muslims, but I digress.
