"these are the droid piece's you're looking for." Classic. Lol. Happy that you finally got the droid factory, but sorry the box got Force choked by Vader.
Got this in 1979. Mom played with it and with me for a bit. By the mid '90s i got frustrated with tracking down the few missing parts I needed, and just bought a complete one on Ebay (or maybe at a toy show, can't remember precisely - much like yours). Got the box, the instructions, the blueprints; everything! That turned out to be way easier than trackng down 12 or 15 seperate parts in those days. .I sold the remaining parts as an incomplete set. Pretty sure I made my money back on the deal. Loved the set! It really worked in my young mind. 3 Leg Artoo sits among my "real figures" Nice to see you have one! I could put alll the pieces in place on the base to ths day with muscle memory! A uniquie and creative design in Kenner's part. I could talk for ages on this set becasue it was so different.
Nice job. Buying complete is definitely the only way to go for this particular Playset. I’ve seen some guys w multiple incomplete sets still trying to “piece” together the Playset. Too costly and too much trouble doing it that way imo.
🤣, "the gravy on the potatoes!" 🤣👍👌, Brilliant! I gotta get that line in one of my videos somehow lol, great video my friend, amazing piece, enjoy buddy 👍
Great unboxing and I'm happy for you. I started collecting the vintage collection and the Retro collection because of nostalgia and then I started going back about a year ago and getting Kenner loose action figures and some carted now. It's a great Hobby. Over the summer I went to the flea market and scored I'm about 15 loose Kenner action figures Star Wars I bought so many that I had the lady down to three bucks a figure. No weapons but I got like three low Bots 3 Lando's no cape or weapons but still cool. A few skiff guards, it was a great day. Got quite a few maybe about 20 complete loose Kenner Star Wars action figures now and three carded and I've got the fever so I'm on a roll now and I love watching your content all about that Kenner
Great video, really enjoyed it. I wish I could have seen the look on your face that went along with your excitement. Not my favorite playset, but I really dig that R-2. I found a 3rd leg on the street riding my bike, it’s the only piece I have from the set!
We have a droid factory, missing a few pieces and no box. Good news is R2D2 has all his parts in our set. Missing a couple of pegs, and a few other pieces. Never seen the blueprints or box. They look awesome.
Hey man great find! So I was a bit curious as to why the box says 1977 an the playset says 1979!? I wonder if the original owner pieced this set together using two different one's! Or he had a complete 1979 playset with no box an ended up buying the 77 one! Ty!
Thanks, bud! Some of the first 21 Star Wars figures are stamped 1977 even though they didn't start releasing them on cardback until 1978. Guessing this is just the trend with stamping products. Either way, its the original box it came with. That much I do know.
Nice score GQ, I would definitely wanna see a video of you flatting the box. If you don't mind me asking what's a fair price for this set? I saw one at my local comic book store complete with no box and the guy wanted $200 .
I'm really happy you were able to get this set, I know you had been looking for it. It looks great. To me it seems almost a mix between a playset and a science set with all the configurations you can make droid wise. As a kid this probably would have ranked towards the bottom of my wish list below the hoth battle playsets, but it still looks great 👍

Love the Droid Factory and 3rd Leg R2! And yeah, sadly that box got choked! LOL
I guess it gives you another piece to track down, therefore keeping the hunt prolonged, that's not a bad thing.
I love the Kenner line. Yes - Upgrades keep the hunt alive 🙌🏻🔥🔥
I'm only at the beginning of my journey, so that's a true blast, little by little, piece by piece. 👍
Savor it!
I felt like I was the one opening that box. Great video
Right on! 🤘🏻

Dang, brotha....you’re on FIRE!!! Scooping up Kenner like it’s going out of style. Love it!!

Haha! Yeah, i get pretty stoked about getting Star Wars toys. LOL. R2 is awesome with his 3rd leg. Couldn’t be happier with him.
Excellent!
Fun unboxing. Been waiting a long time to get this !

Getting a complete nice looking R2 is the real trick with this set. That and locking down all the little pieces to it. So many?!
If anything, this review made me hungry lol!
Hahaha!

I’m thinking of doing a video on boxes, yep. $200 with no box? Is it dead mint ?? I paid less than that for mine with box.
@@GQJedi is not dead mint .
Pass. That’s high for no box and not mint. You can find cheaper.
@@GQJedi thanx for the info.
No problem. Patience is key. You’ll find the right deal. Keep looking. Don’t be in a hurry unless its a steal of a deal. LOL

I’ve got a lot of love for this set. So much to do with it. I would’ve been stoked to have this as a child.
