Joey this episode should be nominated for a Webbie. The history and depth of analysis in an under 10 minute video 👏❤ I loved this toy when I got it for Christmas. The number of droids I made....My favorite was not the 3 leg R2-D2 but using the quadpod body to make a carrier/vehicle for my figures.
Ah man I wish we could go back in time you and I, and have a whole day to play with this toy together haha! Thank you for the compliment my friend, I’m just honored that you enjoyed this video :)
Great video. My uncle had this set among others years later and I’m an adult in my mid twenties and have inherited his entire collection. Though they were before my time I can definitely see why they were enjoyed by a generation
That awesome that his collection went to you, and I’m glad you offered your perspective on these vintage toys. They are truly a gem for a generation of children and I’m glad you are able to carry that on for your uncle. Thanks for commenting your thoughts my friend, I really enjoyed reading them
I still fantasize about toys I wish they would have made....such as a PROPER Star Destroyer toy. The Taintive IV that lives in my head rent free is pretty epic too
great pickup[s, brother. i remember having so much fun with these, i would take them over to my grandma's house and build some really silly stuff with them. good times.
Hey Joe! Those are the types of memories that we all need to cherish as adults and I’m glad that these toys can help you bring those memories back to life. Thanks for sharing that with us my friend
Thanks Mike! This one was so much fun to make :). Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment my friend, it’s an honor to have you watch :). Now I need to watch the Neeews and catch up on what’s going on!
This actually may be the best video you’ve done yet, full stop. Not because of the playset itself, but because of the approach you took with toys and engineering themed toys. There is a reason that LEGO still makes me smile today when I’m building. Also, you smacked me hard with a nostalgia bomb showing that Tupperware set. I haven’t thought of that style in decades!
Hey Joe! Yea the nostalgia boom is real lol. And thank you for the kind words my friend, that made my day to hear that and I’m honored you enjoyed the video! Thank you 🙏
I always loved the Droid Factory. My mom gave it to me for my birthday, and I got a lot of play out of that thing. I lost most of the parts and ednde up buying a complete replacement at a toy show in the '90s. That ESB one is looking sharp! Take good care of it!
One of your best videos. I love the engineering aspect of this toy that you show in the first part. The box advertises that you can make "hundreds" of different droids. I have a MISB but it's cooler to have this one open. BTW 1250 is not a bad price these days for an unassembled example in my opinion.
Thanks Jart! Yea I was apprehensive at first about the price, but after looking at what these are pricing out for, I felt comfortable :). Thanks for watching my friend and taking the time to comment, that means a lot to me!
Wow! That ESB box with unused content is a real gem. I rarely see that one - great pick up!!! I didn't have this one as a kid, but have a near mint R2 from the set in my loose collection. I've been quietly looking for a complete boxed set in excellent condition for a while, but keep barely missing out. I'm sure the right one will come along soon. I'm surprised that GW hasn't made an acrylic for this one yet. I'm guessing that one is likely in production being that is just a box & not really an unusual shaped item. Hopefully soon. Another fantastic Playsets video Joey - congrats on getting both secured for your collection my friend.
Love the video Joey! I always wanted the Droid Factory simply because of the 3 legged Artoo! I missed the simpler Palitoy version at the time but found a complete Kenner version in the 90s, leaflets included and the metal rods all present and correct, also the vinyl tube uncut. The connectors are a little fiddly which is why they tend to go adrift. But to be honest, the selling point was the tripod Artoo! I only ever saw one Palitoy version on the shelves back in about 79, couldn't afford it, never saw another until the 90's as I said, but the stars aligned and it was mine at last! Bwaaahaahaahaah! Ahem. 'Not to the swift of foot goes the race, but to the steady of purpose'. And having the money at the time helps too.😁
Really cool video Joey! I have a spare peg for your used one if you want. Back in the days in France Droid Factory ( US or UK version) was not release and this playset was one the first toy I really wanted to collect as a grow up. I bought my first one with an ESB box in 1991 and I like the lego style of that playset where you can build many droids of all kind. Definitely a toy where the kids can let his imagination go. And building star destroyed with polystyrene TV insert or any large cardboard content left behind my parents were great opportunities to build stuff to play with :)
That is an amazing offer my friend! Thank you! I love how this toy just lets you sit there and create new scenes with the figures and also let’s you build your own :). Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I'm in agreement and I STILL collect LEGOs. That's always been my thing, LEGOs and action figures. I'd absolutely love to have this playset. As many droid possibilities there are, that's how many more vintage SW figures I'm missing from my collection. I'd really like to mix a Droid Factory droid in with the first 21. I don't go along with people who say that the Droid Factory R2 isn't a figure, nor any of the droid creations. It's not a figure til you make something. That's the way I see it. Your boxed items look great Thanks for the video. :)
Thanks T! Yes there are no rules in your collection. If you want the droid factory toy to be included as an action figure in your collection, than so be it! I also share that thought and that’s why I included that figure in my loose collection :). Thanks for sharing your thoughts my friend
Hey William! This was my first time owning it and the first thing it took me back to was playing with my erector set or Lincoln logs. Such a burst of nostalgia
This playset was a bit of an outlier. It's one of the few toys in the Kenner line I never got to play with. Just something I got to imagine while going through the Christmas catalogs back in the day.
Hey Shawn! I didnt think much of it at first, until I got my hands on it. It immediately brought me back to the days I played with Lincoln Logs and Erector Sets! Thanks for watching Shawn!
Yes, engineering! They blinded us with science LOL... Have always loved this design! Probably the reason we got "mini-rigs" later on back in the day. Although an R5-D4 would have been a better choice to include IMHO... Too bad they never upgraded the design back in the 90s. #thirdlegmagic
Kenner was the best, from the Smash-Up Derby, Play-Doh, Six Million Dollar Man, and Star Wars until they folded. Kenner had the best customer service. The Droid Factory was and is very fun, but nah, not the best. That award goes to the Death Star.
Well said Richard! Just by getting to meet Jim Swearengen and the other artists and designers from Kenner, they really did love their jobs and they treated every design with care and love
It is to me. The droid factory was, and is, one of my best memories of playing... remember, we only saw a couple of scenes inside that Sandcrawler. THIS was what was inside.
Please subscribe for more Star Wars and collecting content!
I love the Droid factory, I remember playing and building droids on my parents king size bed.
Ah that’s a great memory of this toy man!

Both of those would have been epic! Can you imagine a star destroyer that could compare to the USS Flag?

I love that ESB box version of the Droid Factory 👍That one is much more rare👌Have fun my friend 😂🙌 Some of those parts look like pieces of 8D8😆
Hey Scott! Haha yes that’s the first thing I thought when I was filming them haha! Thanks for watching brother!
What a cool video. Love the playsets and congrats on the sealed empire set...WOW!!

Your droid looks like Trail Blazer from Jayce and the Wheeled warriors.
😂. I had to look that up but yes I can see it!
@@thepadawancollectorofficial Such a amazing toy line. Probably inspired by the set you reviewed. Same idea where everything is interchangeable.

Hey Mopar! I think GW makes an acrylic for it, I think it was sold out at the time and has been for a while? I need to check back.

Great video, I have never owned this set as a child or adult. I would love to get a copy with a box as nice as your ESB version.
Hey William! This was my first time owning it and the first thing it took me back to was playing with my erector set or Lincoln logs. Such a burst of nostalgia
I still have my Droid Factory. Price tag still on it. As well as my ships.
Super rad! Thats so cool you have your original one with the box!!!!
Awesome video. Never had this one. I have the grey jabba dungeon. Glad Mrs. Padawan didn't kill you on camera. Hahahaha
Hahaha thanks Lera! That would have been a short video! Lol
One thing I learned in this hobby is NEVER tell your significant other how much you spend. That is why cash is king...easier to hide the price 😂
Haha! Mrs Padawan is a very understanding person and she knows I do this out of love and as a very much needed hobby
@@thepadawancollectorofficialI long for the day when my other half understands what I do. She always says, "So when will you sell it?" 😅
Great review. Im your biggest fan.

I might have an extra pin 🤔 I know I have extra legs and bits and I might have an extra pin.
Thanks Deano! Someone already offered but I’m very thankful you did offer as well 🙏
I used the Tupperware to build them drums!
Hey Rambler! Your parents are really awesome for letting you cultivate your imagination like that. I really enjoyed reading that :)

Hey Frak! Thats an interesting thought about the Mini-Rigs!!! I think an r5-d4 model would have been an awesome idea as well! Thanks for watching!
why buy 2, BECAUSE IT'S FREAKING STAR WARS!!!
Haha well said my friend!
