That is completely true. As Hasbro is multi-billion dollar company that produces million of these figures and can afford to price point that at a fraction of the cost in relation to units produced/sold. Whereas Stan Solo is a one man show custom maker who only produced a couple thousand of units thus needing to charge more per figure. The math checks out. But I'd still rather support SS than Hasbro any day of the week.

@GQJedi you're likely getting better quality with SS too. I do think the licensed reissues are great for casual collectors. If you have the cash though, vintage will hold and possibly increase it's value

Everything I've received from SS is just as good as the original Kenner if not better. I've heard from collectors that some of the Hasbro figures feel cheap in comparison to Kenner. As far as the actual "value" of Kenner, I think it will hold it's value as long as there is an actual interest in collecting it. I personally don't collect these toys for their value, so that doesn't ever concern me.

I’ve read similar comments like yours from handfuls of collectors. Only time will tell what Hasbro ultimately delivers. Be a miracle to see them satisfy the masses with this particular set.

I believe that quality comes with a price. You are correct - Hasbro’s price point is about the only thing they have going for them.

I fell out of love with modern toys and focus on Kenner. That's my bag. To each their own I always say. But as time has gone on, I've been more vocal about my opinion of the way Hasbro is handling the IP. Yikes. The well has indeed been poisoned for me as well. The loss the way I figure it, Hasbro has saved and will continue to save me a TON of money but me not buying their products. In the words of young Anakin, "Yippie!"

I agree. Hasbro has all the resources and the money in the world to make better figures but still fall short of the mark when it comes to vintage stuff. Makes no damn sense. The Stan Solo Slave Leia is a crown jewel among vintgae era customs. No question!

I've heard this exact complaint many times over. Scary how right you are. Baffles me on why Hasbro can't and will not remedy a problem that is easily fixable and within their best interest to do so.

I'm pretty sure this is happening, amigo. I don't have any more details on it as of now. I'm reading the same news you are most likely. As I stated in the video, I hope they release these figures individually but most likely won't, to ensure collectors shell out full price to buy the entire set. That's a prime example of why I dislike the company so much. They are GREEDY as hell.

There's a TH-cam video of a guy working on these RETRO waves giving a slideshow presentation of this set. Walrus Man is clearly seen - with the classic 1978 Kenner colours - so, sadly no new updated Walrus Man. I was hoping for the preproduction Walrus Man colours to be recreated: it's the same figure sculpt - but with a black-painted head, hands, and flippers. The torso and arms are orange, with brown legs. Not as eye-catching as the final version, but more realistic-looking.

So nothing new on Walrus Man? That what you’re saying is the actual plan for the 6 pack?

The price point is the only thing Hasbro has going for them. Since they mass produce millions of figures from their factories, they have the ability to charge less than someone like Stan Solo, who is 1 man creating customs. But even having said that, Hasbro charges $15+ for 3.75 figure on a shelf from what I hear. Ridiculous.

Yes, the choice is made so easy because of the disposable packaging. Collecting the figures 'loose' also helps.

To be honest with you, Kenner's Walrus Man isn't really one of my favorite figures. That's where Kenner really took the most liberty in their figure lineup from first 21. But it's still a vintage Kenner og figure and has the classic 70's charm. IF Hasbro does to Walrus Man like SS did with Greedo, then I'm all for it. Bring it on! Give him a big brown head and ditch the green hands etc.

He makes quality factory made stuff that feels and looks like Kenner. I can say the same about Hasbro figs. They feel entirely different which is weird considering they have the resources for the same old Kenner steel molds. Maybe they use different plastic but they feel cheap. Stan Solo is definitely worth the price in my opinion. But hey, $3 is $3. LOL.

Got an Obi Wan Kenobi (from the Kenobi series) from Ollie's for $2.47 within the past couple of days. The lightsaber alone is worth that price. May have to go back and pick up some more just for the accessories.

Curious - Where is there an Ollies? I'm in the States. I've never heard of this retailer.

@@GQJedi Ollie's is in the states, but only 31 (and not in California). I do believe you had mentioned being in the LA area, so that would be the reason for the lack of familiarity. Overall, they don't have a lot to get excited about, but once in a while they have something worth picking up.

@@GQJedi In the late 90s, I remember Hasbro's contract with George Lucas was up and Mattel made like a billion dollar bid for it. I can't find any news of it now, but I clearly remember reading this is Lee's Action Figure Review. Am I the only Gen X Star Wars collector who remembers this? I sometimes wonder what a Mattel Star Wars action figure line would have looked like.

I don't recall the details of that bid. But I do also wonder what would've happened if another toy company like Mattel acquired the license. Who knows what we would have gotten over the years?!

I'm sure they have. I am aware of the company. But since I don't own any of their figures, I cannot in good faith comment on them in any way whatsoever. That isn't fair for me to judge them since I've never held one. I only comment and speak on things I have experience with.

As far as Palitoy I am not a master per se of their history. Kenner was the main manufacturer of vintage Star Wars toys. Palitoy was their sister company! But there were different factories under Kenner that made figures in places like Hong Kong and Taiwan for example. Yes. There are also the Lily Ledy figures which were only produced in Mexico. Different style of colors on figures, different packaging. So in essence, there were factories all over the world making these figures. Just depends on where you got them from would dictate things. But again, I am no expert on things outside the main line Kenner factory produced toys. And even that is a deep rabbit hole. There are a lot of factories involved... Kader, Smile, Unitoy etc. I try not to get too immersed in the factories themselves as that stuff doesn't really trip my trigger so to speak. Hope that makes sense. But you are right, the figures are stamped on the legs. No Jedi Mind Trick there, my friend.

I get the cost element. I do. You gotta do what makes you happy, brother. No wrong or right way to collect. I just hope that whatever they make going forward, it's quality and original. Walrus Man for example should be a brand new design, not just a carbon copy of og Kenner figure. Give us something more. Something new with him. You mention cost but you can easily find a nice, original Walrus Man from Kenner that's complete for around $20. He's common and easy to find.

@ Yes, Walrusman is one of the cheaper figures to find loose, but there are a lot of vintage Kenner figures that run $100 or more for a nice condition figure. Then I can swap the retro figures out from my collection as I find affordable vintage ones. Plus I would like a full set on card and it looks like retro is the only way I will ever afford that.

If only Hasbro just copied the Kenner cards like they do the figures. Seems only logical to me. But...they don't.
